Sterek Derek and Stiles have taken out the Alpha Pack and pretty much saved the world. Okay, the town. Okay, their remaining friends. But the Alphas left something behind: a baby. And this baby is an Alpha too. Derek is determined to take care of the abandoned child, and Stiles is stuck going along for the ride. But Stiles doesn't expect the ride to include seeing another side of Derek, or to find another way to say "family." Words:52508 complete
Felt more I was getting told a story than experiencing it. Went in expecting a cute baby-Werewolf story and never really got that. At one point a story is being told and instead of hearing it and seeing the characters bond, we instead get told the reactions! what's with that? I gave up before the end as the story seemed to drag on without any major event happening.
It's okay, had some potential, but not what I was hoping for.
I think I liked this more than some of my GR friends, but I still think it had lots of problems.
I didn't think Derek acted much like himself. Sure, he was a bit growly, but that's about it. I also thought his sudden declaration of love and living together came out of nowhere, it just seemed too fast, even if he HAD been thinking of saying it for a while. You just don't spring an ILY and move in with me and my wolf baby and forget college after the first freaking kiss, and that didn't feel like a Derek thing to do, at ALL.
And then, to top it all off, they lost the freaking baby! Yes I know that's a spoiler, but I also know most of my Sterek friends hate it when the baby gets taken away, so I'm spoiling. Derek and Stiles find an alpha baby, and Derek decides to take care of it, because the Alpha pack never leave survivors, only this time, they did, and months later, an aunt and a sister show up, and take cute little Bobby away!
Even the knotting wasn't particularly hot, it felt more mechanical and cold than anything else- even the pornish scene with Derek covered in his own jizz! (ok that one was a little hot)
I'm in a bit of a mixed mood about this one. Essentially it's a Sterek kid!fic, so if you don't like that sort of thing, don't bother.
The story begins with Derek and Stiles defeating the Alpha pack on their own (How? I'm really not sure. Having seen the show past this point it all seemed a tad unbelievable). In the remains of the fight, the guys find an itty bitty Alpha baby . Derek becomes attached and decides to raise the kid as his own. Naw!
Stiles assists Derek with the baby when needed and the two begin to form a tentative friendship.
The story goes along nicely for roughly 7 Chapters, but then things just started to irk me the wrong way. I may as well spoilerize the remainder of this review...
There were some really cute moments in this fic and my heart went out to Derek on a number of occasions, particularly early on when he shared stories with Stiles about his family. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy any of the characterisations here and more than a time or two I wanted to smack characters I usually adore (eg. Stiles, Isaac and the Sheriff - I'm happy to always want to smack Scott, FYI).
This really worked for me! I loved Derek and Stiles growing closer over Bobby, I liked how abandoned Stiles felt by Scott, the distance between Derek and Isaac, the pack finding its way back to each other, Stiles' relationship with his father, and how adorably nuzzly and scenty and beautiful a baby Bobby was. I also liked how Stiles couldn't be all in at once even though he really liked Derek - felt frustratingly real to me. And Derek going feral over losing Bobby, and it taking a puppy pile to bring him back? Hell yes.
Not entirely sure about the Giving, really, but it sort of made sense and was mostly sweet.
This story elicited a very extreme response from me. When John finds Robert/Devon's relatives and Derek had to give the baby up, and blames the humans and looks like he is going to hurt Stiles, I thought I was going to throw up....from words on a page. I was devastated. But I continued on and was somehow brought back to normal, kind of like Derek. In someways the story felt normal, meaning I guess Teen Wolf normal, then knotting is mentioned and it feels kind of weird to me. I love knotting yet it felt a little foreign in this. Perhaps because the author was writing a story and not just werewolf porn? I don't know if that makes sense, but it's how I reacted to it. I really enjoy works that make me feel something and this one made me feel.

Fanfiction- Teen Wolf - Sterek Sure, Derek was a bit ooc, but if you decide to subscribe to the "just go with it" philosophy of reading, it was sort of sweet.
Though, probably not sweet enough to stay up til 3:50am to finish it. And yet I did. (And the bags under my eyes tomorrow will prove it.)
