Read for the URR 2017 New Year's Reading Challenge prompt 'BDSM Romance
This is another of those 'serialised' romance books that have become trendy in the last few years. I'm not a fan of this kind of 'book', I don't care how good the story or writing is, I can never get over the feeling of being manipulated by the author, of being emotionally blackmailed into paying over $3AUS for 70 pages of writing. Nope, not falling for it. I got this and the 'sequel' for free and that's all I'll be 'buying', I'll work out the what happens in the third instalment through spoilery reviews.
Regarding the story, I made some notes while I was reading, see below for further information.

'If I didn't get some money soon, my credit would be shot and I'd have a much harder time finding a job as an investigative reporter. What reporters had bad credit?'
Probably just as many reporters as hairdressers, farmers, and doctors. Btw, these money woes are the very reason the whole story happens - Evie's friend Hailey asks her to do a favour by taking her place dancing at a bachelor party for which she's promised $5000.

"Okay." I nodded and sighed. "I guess I can-"
"Peaches." He placed a finger to my lip. "Be quiet. Go and get your stuff and meet me outside. You now have seven minutes."
"Okay, by the way, what's your name?" I changed the subject to hide my irritation.
"I'll tell you when I meet you outside." He grinned and I felt his fingers on my stomach tracing a trail around my belly button. "I'll tell you everything when we meet again. Don't be late. You won't like it if you're late."
What the hell was that? What's wrong with this woman? Why is she doing anything this stranger she met at a bachelor party is ordering her to do? Again I ask, what is wrong with this woman? I don't understand why she feels the need to 'hide her irritation' from Mr. I'll explain later, why does she care if he can see she's irritated by his idiotic mysteriousness?

Because it's likely she's buried beneath the floorboards you're standing on. Why didn't you get out when you had the chance?
That was my last note, but I think that I got my point across. Evie is perhaps the stupidest heroine I've ever read, I spent the whole book trying not to imagine my Kindle was her neck and shaking it until her brain rattled and the neurons rearranged themselves and started sending out impulses that reactivated her ingrained drive to not get kidnapped. Tyler is annoyingly, needlessly mysterious, constantly replying to Evie's questions with "I'll explain later.", but then he never does and she doesn't push it. Despite all that I kind of, sort of enjoyed this. I could see myself giving this 4+ stars if it hadn't been chopped up unnecessarily and if the over dramatisation was gone, but neither of those things are going to happen, so oh well. I will manage to on regardless, not sure how but I will force myself (see I can be overly dramatic, too). I have already read the second part and will be reviewing that when I get my second reviewing wind (this has been a long one).

I have absolutely no idea how to rate this and am shocked by the multiple glowing reviews. As I finished the last page, I immediately said (and in Starbucks), WHAT THE F'CK???? I feel like I have Stockholm Syndrome or something after reading this because I'm pretty sure I'll buy the next book. I'm withholding judgment until I read the rest of the series to rate this, because it's almost like watching a train wreck. Part of me does not want to read another word, and another part is absolutely fascinated in seeing where the hell this is going.
The beginning of this 30 minute book was interesting and sucked me in with the Kindle sample. Mid-way through the story I realized this was going nowhere and that it was the first of a series - had absolutely no idea based on the title which normally indicates that. FRUSTRATING!! After the sample was over, the next few pages got weird.
At first I thought Grant was a great guy - then he would immediately flip and be aggressive and kind of creepy. For almost the rest of the story you read the constant back and forth between the characters if she should go home with him or not and various amounts of cash to do so. Once she gets home with him, this back and forth keeps going. She wakes up the next morning and again - more wavering.
He has unprotected sex with her multiple times and she's not on birth control. The silver chain thing? I like dark alpha books, but I had to reread that several times to try to even understand what the hell that was about. The other guy? Huh? Obviously we're going somewhere with that in the next part, but it was introduced awkwardly. In fact everything felt awkward. I didn't feel chemistry between these two (or the other guy). And what flip switched in this mousy girl at the very end for her to start that with the other guy while Grant is still there?
Overall, there felt like a lack of story development, crazy all over the place characterization, and just poorly written dialogue.
And again, would I buy the next book? Yeah. Do I recommend this to others? At least don't start until the full series is release.
UPDATE 9/10/14 - So I read the 2nd book. Nope. I'm sticking with my gut reaction and rating this maybe 1.5 stars. I hate to give it a 1 b/c the author's heart is in this, as are many fans, but it REALLY didn't work for me. I liked the first chapter of the sample and the original idea so I'll give it 2 stars. For the first time, I don't think I'm interested in at least finding out how a series ends. Again, I'm baffled by the overwhelming 5-star reviews. It felt all over the place, bad dialogue (wait until you get to the 2nd book and the uncomfortable Red Riding Hood/Wolf awkward references) and like the overall story was trying way too hard to be dark and mysterious. Unforgivably TSTL heroine.

Okay I'm not sure if I like it. It's so short and it didn't give me enough to be hooked. It definitely ended with the biggest cliffhanger. So evie filled in for her friend as a stripper one night. And she ended up going home with a guy. She thought it was just going to be a one night stand. He said he'd give her 5 grand for the amount she was suppose to get for the stripper job. That's why she left with him. But then he said he would give her more but he never specified what he wanted yet. Then there is this guy named Tyler which he works for grant. He lives with grant too. Tyler kept warning evie that she should leave and she doesn't know what she's getting herself into. Now Tyler is saying she's playing one game with two wolves. And he said is she ready to play with both of them. I'm so confused on what's going on. Then there is pictures of a girl named eugenie. Grant really loved her but she died and evie has no clue how or what's going on. And I feel the same way. I'm confused. And it seems like this book is something entirely different then what I thought it was. I'm debating if I wanna read the second book. This book was so short and didn't even give me enough to want to read the second book. Ugh so frustrating. I wish I didn't spend money on this book.

wow!!! another book that I couldn't finish. yet, you guys are giving it 4 and 5 stars. what are you reading that makes you think this is a good read. there's no story line. no detail and definitely no depth.

*****5**** STARS!!!! I TOTALLY AM HOOKED AND I NEED MORE!!!! POOR EVIE STEPS IN FOR HER FRIEND FOR ONE NIGHT AS A STRIPPER. THIS IS NOTHING SHE'D NORMALLY DO, BUT THE $5000 SHE WILL MAKE MAKES IT ALL ALITTLE EASIER. THAT IS UNTIL SHE MEETS GRANT SLATE!!!! HE'S SEXY MYSTERIOUS AND HAS AN EVEN BIGGER PROPOSITION FOR EVIE. THEN THERE IS TYLER WHO IS GRANTS CHAUFFER....HE TRIES TO WARN EVIE ABOUT THE "WOLFE" SHE'S BEEN TO BED WITH...BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN HE WARNS HER SHE MAY BE MESSING WITH TWO WOLVES!!!! I just finished Alpha Billionaire and I liked it. It quick and fast and had some mystery to it that you will have to continue in the series if you want to know what happens. Hailey is a good girl. Her friend needs help so Hailey helps her. Her friend is a stripper and because Hailey needs to pay bills she will go to a party to earn 5,000. What she doesn't expel is Grant. The sexy yet mysterious bachelor. Things are not always as they seem and Grant offers her more to come home with him. She is not that kind of girl but she feels an attraction for him and goes with him but not for the money but for seeing what could happen between them. Here comes the mystery. You gotta read to see what happens.
I liked the story. It flowed well. Good mystery to it. What I didn't like about it was the chemistry between the two characters. I'm not saying that they weren't enjoyable to read but I felt that there was some sort of disconnect at times between them. Their voices didn't go together. It don't know if it is because how short the story was and I didn't get a chance to connect or what but I was a little disappointed.
It still is a good read. It's got me wondering what the hell is going on. Tyler the body guard was what did it for me. What is really his role? Why does he know so much about what is going on and when will he tell Hailey? This is whee the author made it enjoyable for me. I need to know what happens!!

This book is not what it seems. Your expecting a normal romance book but get so much more.
I have in shock and hanging my sanity is hanging by a thread to read the next book.

This story was really not at all what i expected ,i thought it would be quick read and i wouldn't even think of it after i was finished . Boy was i wrong , i was left with my mouth hanging open when i got to the end . I was like no way what just happend ?!?!? And now i cant wait for the next book to come out so i could find out what is really happening with these hot men.
I thought it was kinda generic in the beginning but as the story progressed it got really interesting and weird , yes weird ! I liked Evie s character she was pretty clueless to the whole being a stripper or lap dancer and it was a bit funny hearing her complain about things ... But she still ended up doing it .
GRANT , hmmm he was a real hottie to begin with ,but something seemed a little off about him i mean he was a millionaire and he would throw bachelor party for himself not being engaged but just to meet women !!! That was really weird to me ! And with all his odd self Evie still went with him to his big mansion ,and well what you think your about to read is not what you get ....!
Tyler , i found myself wanting to know more about tyler ,he caught my attention way more than Grant ,he had all that hot alpha bad boy going for him .
And not creepy a bit of a cocky pain but hot !! That is until he just totally does a 180 on us in the story .
Some odd and creepy hot Grant for you ....

I chuckled as I skimmed this book because from the beginning I could tell it was going to be plain silly. I skimmed, stopping to read aloud parts of this book to my spouse... all the way up until I got to: "His muscles bulged with the strength of a hundred men as he gazed at me with soulless eyes. I swallowed as I stared at the thick steel chains slithering across his skin like a snake," at which point I lost it and couldn't stop laughing. I'm pretty sure the author didn't mean this to be a parody, but I couldn't help but read it as such. The dialogue is stilted and juvenile, the scenario impossible, and descriptions like this made me want to weep that someone published this as a serious romance. Sorry, it's just plain silly.

This is part one in a three part serial about Evie and hot billionaire Grant and starts off with Evie doing a favor for a friend that ends up with her doing things she has only dreamed of. This book ends with a cliffhanger so don't read if you don't like them. This book has some very HOT sex scenes and is very intense. Grant started out as good guy and seems to good to be true. He goes from being very friendly at times and intense at other times. What does Grant really want from Evie and will she be willing to do what he wants or needs. Can't wait for the second part.

I am a huge fan of this author, but I am disappointed by this first book of short series. 42 FUCKING PAGES, ARE YOU SHITTING ME ? The story wasn't bad even though the main girl was a dumb ass & the male was a creepy weirdo. This is the first of 3 very short books & I doubt I'll even read the next two.

I have to say, this book was weird, BUT and this is a big BUT, I still bought book 2 and I will buy book 3. Confusion and curiosity are getting the better of me and I need to know what the hell is going on.

This book made no sense and while one scene in particular was hot. The overall book was trash. And the ending was too weird of a cliffhanger for me to be interested in continuing this series any time soon.

This is part 1 of a 3 part series and yes it does leave you on a cliff hanger.
I honestly don't know where to start with this book. I have a few concerns, yes I know, I know, it's a story but I still can't get my head around Evie and what she does. Maybe it's the mum in me that's on high alert!!! lol.
Did the promise of money blind her?
Did it leave her with the inability to think straight?
Why did she leave with him? A stranger?
Evie does her friend a HUGE favour by covering for her at work. Hailey, said friend, is a stripper. Evie is uncomfortable as this isn't something she'd ever do. But and it's a huge but, the promise of $5000 is a huge pull.
During the course of the night Evie meets Grant Slate. We know next to nothing about him. He's a billionaire. That's it. Oh wait. He once was involved with a girl call Eugene.

Premise is that struggling working girl Evie is persuaded to fill in for her roommate as a stripper/dancer at a bachelor party. The party is for a bachelor billionaire so the payout would be enough to pay her rent and other monthly expenses in one evening.
She fills in only to be singled out by the guest of honor himself, Grant Slate. Grant persuades Evie to go to his home for a marathon night of sex for which she'll receive her promised pay with an additional bonus.

I'm Hooked!!! I have so many questions. What a cliffhanger. I don't know if I'm Team Grant or Team Tyler. Do I want Evie to stay or go? What Happened to Grant? What happened to his Ex? Why wont he let her go? Is He going to hurt her? When is the next book coming out?
It's just Fantastic!!! In true Helen Coper form this book is hot but with an element of mystery. You find yourself trying to piece the puzzle together. As I got closer to the end I was on the edge of my seat. Part 2 can't come fast enough.

WOW WOW this book is HOT because it does not only has a beautiful and shy woman called Evie but it has two SUPER HOT gorgeous guys. Evie is broke so when her friend ask her for a favor that is going to make her some money she accepts even not knowing what that favor entitles. She end up with SEXY Grant who show her a good time but is warn by SUPER FINE Tyler to run away from Grant . What will she do?? Congrats I LOVE this book :)

Oh M Gee! I'm hooked and addicted to this book series. All Evie did was step in for her friend at her stripping job and what does she get? A hot alpha male offering her money to stay the night to do anything. Where do I sign up? Who is Eugenie? Somehow, someway the truth will come out. What exactly does Grant want with Evie? And what is up with Tyler? Freaky! I can't wait for the next book to this crazy, hot story!

Horrible. I would give this less than zero stars if I could. How could this heroine ignore the red flags and go with this guy is beyond me. At no point did this so called hero instill any sort of trust... And then he pulls out chains? And then says this is what he should have done all along. Bad writing and a poorly set bdsm theme. I'm getting tired of being burned by authors who can't be bothered to pick up a damn book on bdsm before they dive into writing about it. #returningmyfirstebook

Another awesome read by Helen Cooper!!! I loved the little bit of mystery involved in it and was trying to figure who the "bad guy" is but I think I will probably be wrong so I'm just going to enjoy the ride Evie, grant and Tyler will take me on!! Also felt some anxiety for Evie the last few chapters !! Can't wait for part two!!

Well people Helen Cooper did it again. Gave us an amazing book. You won't what hit u. What I loved most about this book is you start to think one thing then ur left with your mouth wide open and think wtf just happened. Can wait for the next two parts.There three parts to this book. I don't know where to start. This was completely unbelievable. I wouldn't have finished had it not been so short. Bought because it seemed to be on offer on amazon but I definitely would not recommend this. Very poor story line and the characters are totally unbelievable. Maybe it gets better if you read the whole series but I couldn't read on.

OMG...this is an amazing story and I love it. Absolutely love it and can't wait for more. Once I started I couldnt put it down, I expected the story to go one way and BAM it goes a completely different way. I highly recommend it and give it 5 stsrs. Helen Cooper you are the best!
