A vampire and a werewolf walk into a crime scene.
Humans are making my life complicated. First, my booty call-boy falls in love with me, then a John Doe shows up, pinned to our office wall. Then a paranoid Doomsday Prepper starts stalking me. Ugh. As if being a vampire in the city isn’t complicated enough.
Honestly? All I want is to get my nails done, eat some ice cream, and sink my teeth into some human porterhouse on the full moon. But nooooo, some Human d-hole just has to up and die in our office. Worse, the vic smells like me. He smells like werewolf. Not a good thing, considering the world isn’t supposed to know we even exist.

One day I will remember to hang a ‘Do Not Disturb’ notice, lock the doors, pull down the blinds BEFORE I read anything by JT Lawrence! Every novel is guaranteed escapism – original, innovative, fabulous characters, classy dialogue, kick-ass action. The legend ‘A vampire and werewolf walk into a crime scene’ promised another wild and whacky read.
And it delivered. I didn’t read EverDark in one go, but oh, how I wanted to!
Finding a dead man stapled to the office notice board leads this detective duo to the largest pharmaceutical company with anything but altruistic intentions. The pace is punishing for the pair – not only do they have to solve the city’s paranormal crimes – the body count is mounting – they must do so before the Full Moon in three days. Samira is howling already, skulduggery abounds, and Alathia fears she will lose her partner before they unravel the conspiracy.

Apart from a few editing issues with the ebook format of this book that I found rather distracting, I enjoyed the dual adventures of Samira the werewolf and her best friend, partner and centuries-old vampire Alathia.
Lawrence and Rice's styles complement each other - and this is important when each author is writing alternate chapters which still have to form part of a consistent whole. This is a difficult feat at the best of times, and this wasn't the best of times for either Lawrence or Colby - so hats off to them.
I enjoyed the ride, liked the styles, locations and, more than anything else, the strong female leads that both authors are known for.
A very good read, apart from editing.

Excellent
JT Lawrence fan here happy to be be exposed to another author in Colby R Rice. This was an excellent adventure set mainly in Johannesburg, SA. It was almost as though the authors had written themselves in as the two main characters. Leading the characters around as they see themselves. Action packed, solid plot. I hope there's a sequel.
