An experienced Dom and a baby sub must keep their kink-lives a secret after discovering they've just become office mates and professional rivals in this super-steamy contemporary romcom, perfect for fans of Lana Ferguson and Tessa Bailey.

An irresistible collision of dominance, deadlines, and an extremely inconvenient desire.

All Rae Jensen has to do is walk through the door. Inside the club is everything she’s wanted but was afraid to ask a ridiculously hot, brooding Dom with a sharp jawline, sexy forearms, and a low voice that sends goosebumps along her skin when he says “People here call me the General.” For one night, she can forget the stress and her endless responsibilities . . . and just be a saucy little sub, no questions asked.

It’s been a while since Grant Bowman met someone like Rae. Although he’s an experienced Dom, he doesn’t do newbies, especially ones who are such a sweet distraction. But one night couldn’t possibly hurt—until the General discovers they’ll be working together IRL at his new consulting job. Now what started as control is turning into the kind of chaos that destroys careers. But there’s no safe word for falling in love…

firstly, thank you to the publisher for an arc!

2.5 - 3 stars? — honestly, i ate up the first 30% of this romance novel, but after that, the plot and dialogue started to wilt, and fast.

while i guess trad publishers are really hesitant to add genuine spicy spice to their “dom coms”, this was still rather spicy but just felt completely unbelievable. our fmc rae is a complete people pleaser as well as the head of hr — everything she does for her coworkers is completely the exact opposite of hr’s role; and yet being the head of hr she still decides to 1) not disclose a relationship with an employee and 2) has sex multiple times in the office… her behavior as a rule follower/people pleaser/head of hr just appeared a tad unrealistic, and if i wanted unrealistic i’d read a romantasy.

not to mention, readers only get one and a half club scenes, which mostly take place in the beginning of the book; the opening scene in the club was fantastic, and we’re never brought back to that energy.

as for the plot as to how our mcs coincidentally remain in contact outside of the club? completely threadbare.

overall, i was excited for this book and the first 30% showed true potential — if it had kept that energy, this book would have been so much better off

——

listen, i’m tearing through this like no one’s business, ok??? — this is the perfect amount of spice and cringey millennial humor (surprisingly!)

Dom-Com by Adriana Anders
I Wanted Christian Grey, I Got Corporate Casual

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars (rounded up)

Let’s get one thing straight right out of the gate: this audiobook was a VIBE. If my rating were based solely on narration, this would be a full five-star listen. Unfortunately… the plot had other plans.

First, credit where credit is due.

Thank you to NetGalley, Adriana Anders, and Hachette Audio | Forever for the audiobook ARC. Also, it must be said: Hachette Audio | Forever is hands-down one of my favorite audiobook publishers, and this production only reinforced that.

🎧 Audiobook Performance: 5 Stars
Lila Winters and E.M. Wylde were absolutely top tier. Their performances were confident, engaging, and polished, adding energy and tension even when the story itself wasn’t fully delivering. Audiobook-first readers will definitely appreciate how much the narration elevates the experience.

📖 The Premise
On paper, this had everything going for it:

• A brooding Dom known as “the General”
• A curious heroine stepping into a club for the first time
• A one-night arrangement that should have crackled with tension
• A surprise workplace crossover

I was ready. I was invested. I was listening intently.

😬 The Execution
Unfortunately, the story itself felt fairly predictable and didn’t bring anything particularly new to the genre. Predictability isn’t always a dealbreaker for me—but here, it was paired with a lack of chemistry that made it harder to stay emotionally invested.

For a romance centered on power exchange, I wanted more intensity, more connection, and more emotional pull between Rae and Grant. The Dom/sub dynamic, in particular, felt surprisingly restrained. The spice was present, but for this setup, it ultimately felt lackluster.

I wanted Christian Grey energy.

What I got was… business-casual dominance.

🖤 Final Thoughts
I didn’t dislike this book, and I genuinely loved the idea behind it. It just didn’t hit with the depth, chemistry, or heat I was hoping for. That said, I can absolutely see this working better for readers who prefer lighter spice, workplace romance, and strong audiobook performances.

Final Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎧 Narration: 5 stars
📖 Plot & chemistry: where my stars fell off

Would I listen to another Adriana Anders audiobook? Yes.
Did this one fully work for me? Not quite.

this book was extremely entertaining from start to finish for me!!

i really loved rae’s chaos mixed with grants harder demeanor, i think it made them a great match for one another. the idea of them finding one another that night at the club and then life throwing them together again was super fun for me. i loved the length of the chapters, i feel like it kept things super engaging and amusing. the side characters with the excepting of a few bad apples were all delightful honestly. sam was a great bestfriend for rae & her sisters are a blast.

one of the only things i would have liked to see a bit more of would have been scenes in the club and harlow/lucas being there for grant. i feel like those things kind of got pushed to the side a bit…

overall this was a very fun quick read for me which i desperately needed so i think i happened to pick his book up at the perfect timing. im very much looking forward to seeing if adriana will continue with the sisters or sam’s HEAs!!

CONSENT IS SO HOT!

This was a good time!

It’s fun, spicy (but not as spicy as I expected), & easy to binge. He’s down bad (my fav), a bit grumpy, and a little caveman at times (hot).

This might be a good book for readers who want a hint of sub/dom without being thrown into the deep end. It isn’t a perfect example of a sub/dom relationship but it is a decent example of a first experience that emphasizes consent and dives into the emotional aspects of that type of relationship.

Whats to love…
- lots of workplace banging
- new sub/experinced dom dynamic
- easy to binge
- intriguing non-romantic plot
- thigh rides
- character growth for her
- he doesn’t “do relationships”

What might not work for some…
- this was a bit insta-love for me. I had a great time with this read but I won’t pretend that I think this is more than a HFN (happy for now). That said, I get it really great s-x can make you fall in love fast!

Audio Narration: 4/5 Solid performance. No real issues with pacing, pausing, or inflection. I would have liked a little more in terms of voice variation, especially with the voices of opposite sex characters, but otherwise no complaints! Definitely recommend the audiobook.

Full review to follow : Provocative, Kinky, Heartfelt and fun. This hit all the feels in such an entrancing manner I had a hard time putting the book down. I devoured this charming tale in 2 days late into the night. I thought this would just be a fun spicy read … and oh yes there was amazing spice !!! It was the absolutely adorable growth between Rae and Grant that really just had me smiling and cheering them on. I adored the side characters and found family aspect of the read as well. I think I need to mention again that the spicy .. was hot !!!! Worth the late night finish to this read.

I’m sitting at a tentative 3.8 stars for now, but I need some time to ruminate on this one because my emotions are very conflicted. There were parts of the story I genuinely enjoyed, and I loved the contemporary romcom vibe the book started with. Unfortunately, the transitions from the main storyline into the spicy scenes felt disjointed to me. At times, it felt like I was reading a light contemporary romance, only for the tone and vibe to abruptly shift into something completely different once the spice began. I also wasn’t a fan of the nickname the MMC used for the FMC in the bedroom, which pulled me out of the moment.

While this book ultimately wasn’t for me, that doesn’t mean others won’t enjoy it. There were definitely elements of the story that worked well, and the narrators delivered a strong performance that helped bring the characters to life and made it easier to connect with them. I’ll definitely try more from this author, as this particular storyline and set of characters just weren’t for me, even though the writing itself was solid.

3.5!

I liked it a lot it was very light hearted and straight forward with a lot of heart behind it.

Grant and Rae meet at his kink club and then end up being office coworkers sharing a literal office space. Oh did the tension immediately brew. Grant is grumpy work-focused not looking for anything serious and Rae is a ray of sunshine going above and beyond (to the point of burn out) for anyone and everyone. They learn a lot from eachother and teach eachother balance and it is exceptionally cute.

- Dom / sub spice
- Grumpy x sunshine
- workplace romance

Dom-Com is a light-hearted, sweet story with a dash of kinky on the side.

The main characters were delightful. Rae is the agreeable, passive type, often going above and beyond in both her personal and professional life to be helpful to those around her. One thing she does for herself? Visit a club to find herself a Dom. Grant Bowman is her contrast. He is all grump, dedicated to crafting and following rules. The most important rule is not to commit. To anything. He is a wanderer, of sorts. The delightful sub he met last night showing up at his new place of work? Not ideal.

The story did feel like a rom-com to me, in that it was fun and quick-paced. The chapters are relatively short, allowing the story to progress at a good pace. I expected it to be kinkier based on the title, but that's a subjective assessment based on my reading history (we listen and we don't judge).

There were a couple of areas that fell short for me. Some of the subplots felt underdeveloped, such as the work crises and Grant's commitment issues. The reveal and resolution at the end felt abrupt and frail as a result. I would have loved to see more development and growth of Grant's character. It would have made the conclusion of Grant and Rae's story feel more authentic.

The dialogue is a little chaotic, which I felt was intentional to reflect the frenzied energy of Rae and her sisters and friends, but it became distracting. There is a lot of speech disfluency, which others may find enjoyable. It might also be received differently via audio.

Overall, I rate this a 3.75, so I'm rounding up. It was a genuinely fun read. I appreciated the open communication between the main characters; their relationship was quite cute, and the spice was fantastic.

Thank you to Adriana Anders and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an advanced reading copy via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

4 ⭐️ The Hating Game but make it k!nky!

And listen! I can admit that The Hating Game may have had a bit more get-to-know-you, swoony stuff in it… but also, it’s so similar! I kept thinking back to it over and over while reading the shared office scenes!

This book has Rae, a little baby sub on her search to find her dream Dom… or so she thought. Grant, however enamored he might have been with her, is not looking for a sub—especially not one who needs him for more than a single night. Their connection, though, is undeniable. So, when Rae sets foot in her brand-new office only to see Grant standing there… yeah, sh!t gets messy, tense, and honestly kind of funny!

I really did enjoy this book—probably more than I expected to during the first 25%. It took me a while to warm up to Grant, to be honest. He was too high-handed and kind of a prick, which made it hard to see him as a well-rounded character rather than just another alphahole Dom MMC who thinks he’s all that when he can barely speak in full sentences without insulting someone. But anyway… the plot, while predictable, was still cute and charming enough. I could have used a better epilogue, but that’s just me.

Now, the spice… this thing is kink-filled and, while it tries to be respectful and keep consent at the forefront of their encounters, there were a few close calls that felt unnecessary and straight-up weird to me (see: the belt + chair + office scene). That one felt wrong, but since they both gave consent, that was that… even though more people entered the room! I don’t know, but yeah…

Overall, definitely a good read—entertaining and fluffy enough to make your day a bit brighter!

Review to come 🥰

edit- Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) | Forever for the eARC!

AHHH I loved this book! It had the right balance of serious and humor that I crave.

Grant is so serious and buttoned up when Rae enters his life to brighten it up. I love how they tried to fight their attraction and failed miserably.

I enjoyed the fresh take on BDSM and we got to enter the world through Rae and her experiences. As someone who doesn't know a lot about the scene, I appreciated how Rae was able to get what she needed from her sexual encounters with Grant and stay true to her desires.

Rae was peak eldest daughter and you definitely felt frustrated for her- I was glad that Grant was able to make her comfortable enough to finally start saying 'no' to everyone around her. They made each other better versions of themselves and I love when couples bring out the best in each other.

This book was trending towards 5⭐ but the ending felt a little rushed and lacking in my opinion.
Overall, this is a good introduction to BDSM/kink and while it does cover heavy topics, I feel like it was done in a tasteful manner and is accessible to all.

4/5 ⭐️
2.5/5 🌶️

I love a good workplace romance with a spicy twist, so the second I saw Dom Com announced, it went straight onto my TBR. And honestly? I was having a lot of fun with this one.

The book kicks off hot—a bold, spicy beginning that immediately pulls you in. Then comes the delicious chaos of discovering they’re suddenly coworkers, which flips the dynamic straight into enemies territory. Naturally, this does absolutely nothing to stop the chemistry, and they predictably cannot keep their hands to themselves. Zero self-control. Love to see it.

I would’ve liked to see Rae and Grant explore the dom/sub relationship a bit more deeply, but I do appreciate that Adriana Anders doesn’t treat BDSM as a throwaway kink or just surface-level spice. This feels like a very accessible, lower-stakes entry point for readers who don’t usually read BDSM romance but are curious. It’s safe, approachable, and still sexy.

The audiobook narration was solid overall. Lila Winters (Rae) is a favorite of mine, and she did a great job here—confident, expressive, and easy to connect with. E.M. Wylde (Grant) was new to me. He did fine and fit the role well enough, but I found myself wishing for a bit more range, especially when it came to differentiating emotions.

All in all, Dom Com is a fun, spicy workplace romance with just enough edge to keep things interesting—and a solid audiobook listen if you’re in the mood for tension, power dynamics, and inevitable feelings getting in the way.

Thank you to Adriana, her publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced audio copy.

This was really fun! The plot was predictable. The tension was sky high. The scene when they first met, was hilarious.

Sadly the dom/sub aspect fell a little short throughout the book. It felt restrained (HA) a bit. I agree with what another Goodreads reviewer said, which was that I wanted more Christian Grey vibes, but it felt like the MMC was really holding back. Also, he somehow came off as a slightly nerdy business executive somehow? He could have been more dark and broody I think. There also should have been at least one more club scene. Them just meeting there and never going back, doesn't seem like what would actually happen.

All that being said, the banter was great, the office antics were fun, and all the side characters were entertaining as well.

Overall a fun read with some laughs and some spice!

ARC 4.5 Stars!

Dom/Sub + Workplace Romance + Curvy FMC + 18+ Kink Club

This started out with a bang and kept me hooked. It follows Rae, who enters a kink club for her first time looking for her perfect Dom. The kink club is having a speed dating event and dud after dud keeps pairing with her until one guy gets a little too handsy and the part owner of the club, The General aka Grant, throws him out and reluctantly introduces himself to Rae. He is instantly attracted to her but has a fear of commitment. So he agrees to show her the ropes of what a healthy Dom/Sub relationship should be, but their night is cut short before any real action happens.

Rae goes to work the next day who happens to be the new consultant hired by her boss to sniff out the data leak? Yep, Grant, her almost one night stand. They decide to set rules in place to prevent each other from crossing the professional boundary, but we all know how that goes.

This was a fun spicy time. I loved that Rae had the hobby of working on book nooks. Ive always loved book nooks and it would be so fun if art prints that came along with this book had a picture of her potential book nooks. Like most third act conflicts with one character who has commitment issues, I found it to be slightly annoying. But it made sense for Grant because of his past and his mother who had an unbelievable amount of ex-husbands.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to those who like spicy but light hearted sub/dom romances.

This book was sent to me from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you, Forever, for the eARC of this book!

I am very sad to say that I will be DNFing this book at the 54% mark.

I have a few concerns with this book, which is why I am choosing to not finish this book. The first being that BDSM is new for our FMC and she and the MMC never officially decided to start a relationship as Dom/Sub, the MMC just sprung it onto her at their place of work. Consent is a huge thing, and having the MMC start a "scene" with the FMC in an environment where she would undoubtedly receive the most unequal punishment is just not okay to me at all. The second is that our FMC stresses me out by saying yes to absolutely everything that anyone asks of her, and is very much burning her candle at both ends. I could not get into the book and found myself wanting to read my other current reads more than this one.

I want to thank Netgalley for the arc.

I DNFd this book at 77% (320 pages) on November 4th, 2025 (started November 3rd). This book started so well with the BDSM having actual, proper etiquette and rules shown. I was so excited from that alone. But then the more we got into the book, the more it seemed like those rules were forgotten. The MMC starts a scene pretty much immediately the second time they meet (third time?) without any sort of acknowledgement, and that continues onward throughout the book.

The FMC was chaotic - and not in the best way. It was hard to read at first, but then I got over it. The subplot was super obvious after a single line, and when it came to fruition, I didn't feel anything because I knew it was happening.

I also just felt like the main relationship was only lust. We barely see the main couple interacting outside of work, where they have sex, and when they have sex. I'm 77% in. I'm not going to believe there's love within the next 27%.

I ended up DNFing because the FMC is a pushover. She says she's not a pushover, but then allows herself to be a pushover multiple times (with her sisters, her coworkers). The final reason that pissed me off and made me DNF was the FMC finds out her boss essentially doesn't trust her to do her job properly and she's....perfectly okay with it?

Yeah, no. Here's to hoping the other books on my TBR by this author go better than this.

ARC Review:

Rae- ADHD as fuck, Eldest Daughter Syndrome to the MAXX
Grant- Grumpy baby, ROMANTIC at heart, absolutely precious, Daddy but also not?

Really appreciate reading a book, especially when I don't know the author, and casual mention of queer people shows up. Dorothy having a wife, members of the Kink club giving pronouns. It feels so much BETTER and real, especially given the history between Kink and Queer.

Chapter 15: Uses Sunny instead of Rae while alone with her at the office. Scolds her, AND shows he has been paying a lot of attention to her and omg this man has it BAD

Omfg Grant GRANT!!! And the Vans? Poor Dom.

I fucking LOVE the mental switch between when Grant uses Sunny vs Rae. I fucking LOVE IT SO MUCH

Revenge Fantasy if Revenge Fantasies were about overworked and burnt out people pleasing eldest daughters finally got to focus on themselves, take care of themselves, but also get taken care of by someone who knows their needs And wants to care for them above all else.

Grant is honestly pathetic in the best way, the secret data breach storyline is absolutely a great little mystery in the middle of it all and seriously fuck Dane and Schaffer.

I want to see everyone else get love tho...

Overall this was so much FUN! This review is comprised of my addled notes taken during reading.

I was so excited to read this book but wow, what an absolute bummer of a book. With a title like Dom Com, there were some clear, high expectations and sadly they just weren’t met with this book. This book didn’t deliver on the Dom or the Com, or even really the Rom though, to be fair, Rom wasn’t part of the title.

I think my main problem stems from the corporate intrigue storyline kind of taking over the plot of the book. It was a boring storyline, I could not have cared less about it and yet, for so many chapters, I had to read about the data leak on the dark web and Dorothy’s asshole son in law trying to steal her company away from her.

Then there was Sam, Rae’s best friend, acting all strange and mysterious and admitting to dating a married man (what?!?) and clearly the hints were there and fairly obvious (she takes her work laptop home which is a big NO but no one calls her out on it until the end) and it just felt badly paced. In fact, the story focused a lot on side characters and it was at the cost to the actual romance.

Which brings me to the actual romance between people pleaser Rae and relationship phobic Grant. Now, I’m not an expert on D/s relationships but I understand that consent is a key cornerstone to any successful relationship, specifically one involving D/s. This one begins promisingly at the club with a lot of consent but the bulk of their sexual escapades (sexcapades?) takes place at work, which is extremely awkward given that Rae is head of Human Resources for the company they work for and Grant is a consultant brought in to find the security leak, unbeknownst to everyone including Rae. And there’s a real lack of boundaries and also consent. Like she could say no at anytime, I guess, but he never checks in or asks if she’s ok with the stuff they do in their shared office.

The third act breakup comes when Grant randomly decides he isn’t relationship material and break off with her, then months pass and he comes to his senses and goes to Rae and asks for a second chance and boom, she forgives him IMMEDIATELY! Like, at least make him work for it a little bit? This was just a meh book and the fact that it took me 6 days to finish it is a clear sign that I was bored. It could’ve been a shorter, tighter book.

ARC from publisher, review is all mine;

Content notes: FMC’s mom died from cancer when she was younger; mentions of grief; MMC’s mom is a serial bride;

༄˖°.☕️.ೃ࿔📜*:・ First, a huge thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read an ARC of Dom Com! 💖 ꉂ(˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵)

That being said… this is my completely honest review, enjoy! 😽

⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (It feels more appropriate to round up to 4⭐️ on GR)

🎬 The Setup:
Grant “General” Bowman and Rae “Sunny” Jensen meet at the kink club "Off the Cuff"—an unexpected, steamy speed date situation that instantly sparks something explosive. Rae is a baby sub looking for a Dom, Grant is an experienced Pleasure Dom not looking for anything serious… but of course, that doesn’t stop them from chemistry overload. Fast-forward to Monday morning, and the universe drops them into the same office as coworkers and professional rivals. Absolute chaos (and sexy fun) ensues.

˙✧˖°🔆 ༘ ⋆。˚ Rae “Sunny” Jensen:
Rae was so easy to root for! Funny, bratty, caring, and just sunny enough to balance Grant’s brooding dominance. She’s the type of heroine who makes you want to grab a coffee and sit beside her while she plots her next sassy move. Her journey from “mom friend” to prioritizing herself was satisfying without being preachy.

⫘⫘⫘Grant “General” Bowman⫘⫘⫘:
The perfect Dom. Bossy, attentive, smart, hot as hell, and still somehow kind. Grant’s dirty talk skills had me blushing and holding my breath—top tier. His “I don’t do love” persona hits all the workplace romance and grumpy X sunshine vibes, and watching him try to maintain his self-imposed rules while fuming over Rae was such a fun ride. And did I mention he's a pleasure dom?? 🥵

˚˖𓍢ִ🌶₊˚ʚ 😮‍💨 ₊˚ Chemistry & Spice Level:
Unmatched. Instant attraction, kink, playful domination/sub tension… the book definitely delivers for anyone looking for a lighthearted but steamy read. Spice level: 3–4/5🌶.

⋆。‧˚ʚ⏳ɞ˚‧。⋆ Pacing & Plot:
The first 30–50 pages were a little slow for me, but once I got into the groove? Hooked. I read it in one sitting, I was planning on just starting it before bed but then I could not put it down. Character-driven, and I loved the balance of kink-club weekend escapades with their weekday office antics. Minor icks: text abbreviations like “IRL” and “FFS” felt unnecessary, and the early pop culture references tried a little too hard before the story found its own voice.

✉⋆ ˚。 ⋆💭˚ My Final Thoughts:
If you’re in the mood for a sexy, funny, kink-forward contemporary romcom with amazing character chemistry, Dom Com is for you. The early pages take a second to hook you, but trust me, it’s worth it. Even with minor typos and a few small icks, I fully recommend this for anyone looking for a playful, office-meets-kink romance.

💌 If you love steamy office romances with a kinky twist, grab this one!

If you enjoyed this even a little don’t read ahead

Idk how else to say it but this book would probably be great for someone who is like 38 and uses the big light and the big light has fluorescent bulbs in it.

the writing itself is unbelievably cringe. The use of the word “kinkster” so many times is so off-putting idc if that’s BSDM enthusiasts are actually called or not, I hated it.

It is so clear that a millennial wrote this. At some point there is a birthday party for a coworker in the office and everyone is wearing mustaches. I am sorry, is this fucking 2010???

The MC was complaining about her ex boyfriend and she’s like “he always put me down and wouldn’t let me wear my dinosaur print dress out in public” girl maybe you should listen to him!!!! Tf you mean dinosaur print dress

Now the actual story….was also bad. The book begins in a kink club, that is the whole premise of the book, and they BARELY. GO. TO. THE. CLUB!!! Almost all of the spice is in the OFFICE which is wild because the FMC is the HEAD OF HR. Like at LEAST make her a regular employee or something like the dichotomy is startling.

You’re telling me this man is a kink club owner AND a house flipper AND a landlord and also a cybersecurity consultant? Why? Why did he have to own the club when that barely ended up mattering? Couldn’t he have just been a patron of the club?

The central conflict was poor and the resolution was poor. The MMC doesn’t want a long term relationship, fine, but his only reason is that his mom has been married 13 times. She tells him she’s getting married again, he says some objectively mean stuff to her, she suddenly decides to “be single for a while” and then our MMC goes “oh okay epiphany! I can get back together with the FMC”

The side characters had conflicts that all resolved themselves within one page and were very weak. The FMC’s reason for being a people pleaser seemed self-asserted. They did not need her to do all of that.

I only finished this book so I could shit talk it. There’s more I could say but I will hold my tongue.

Synopsis in one sentence: An experienced Dom and a newbie sub must keep their sizzling, secret kink-lives under wraps after discovering they’re now office mates and colleagues, super steamy contemporary romcom

Narrators: Lila Winters & E.M. Wild

Type of narration: Dual

Fav character: Grant: the Dom who is both broody and unexpectedly sweet, making him a standout hero

Fav trope:
Forced proximity & office romance & special club

Fav part: The banter and chemistry between Grant and Rae, especially during their secret office fun, are both hilarious and heart-pounding.

Didn’t like: Grant was a bit woe is me and the tittle is spicer than the book.

Recommend it: Yes, if you love:
Super-steamy contemporary romance
Focus on consent
Office rivals-to-lovers
Humor and heart with a side of spice

Unique:
The blend of explicit kink, laugh-out-loud humor, and emotional depth makes this stand out from typical office romances.

Cont. series?: Stand alone

Unforgettable: It is unique but also felt somewhat familiar - not necessarily in a bad way

Review of advance copy received from Netgalley

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for providing me an advanced copy of Dom Com by Adriana Anders.

Dom Com is exactly what the title promises, Dom x sub with a dash of humor. It's a non traditional office romance with scorching heat, chemistry and banter all the way through.

Our FMC Rae is a general ray of sunshine who has hard core people pleaser issues and the drive of an eldest daughter who gets stuck in the loop of wanting to let go but feels she needs to take care of everyone. In comes our Dom Grant, the grumpy man who not only shows her the best a pleasure Dom has to offer but helps her learn to set boundaries and say no.

Their relationship is really cute and watching them fall for each other is satisfying, even when Grant is being a big ole dummy. I really enjoyed this book. It's light hearted without being fluffy and heart felt without making you weep. I'd definitely recommend it if you're interested in

This was such an interesting and entertaining read for me, very light-hearted, very fluffy. Think The Hating Game but with a more adult, kinky twist.

Our two main characters first cross paths in a kink club, only to discover later that they’re actually coworkers.

The first 30% was fantastic. I was hooked, the dynamic was fun, and the chemistry was really working for me. But after that, the momentum started to fade a little.

While I understand this story is centered around a dominant–submissive dynamic and meant to explore that angle, some parts felt a bit unrealistic to me and occasionally pulled me out of the story. And not to mention, the fact that our FMC works in HR raises a lot of questions about workplace boundaries and professionalism that the book kind of glosses over.

Still, despite the bumps, I did enjoy the book overall.

Thoughts
Dont let the cutsey pink cover fool you.. this one is spicy! The sexual tension and chemistry between Grant and Rae (aka the General and Sunny) was tangible- I could feel the heat and steam 🥵🍆
I was not reading reading this one for the plot, this read was purely for escape and entertainment- and it completely delivered ✅

Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for my digital ARC in return for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own.

What a fun romcom with a healthy dose of spice! The sexual tension between the MCs was deliciousss! I was surprised that the kink club setting wasn’t utilized more, so I think this does lean more into romcom than erotica, but I still absolutely loved it. Their relationship was equal parts lust and love, the workplace shenanigans were so unrealistic and HOT, and the side plots were engaging. I really really enjoyed this story and how much Grant loved taking care of Rae. Couple goals, actually. Hot af and sweet together. This was my first book by Anders, and it won’t be my last!

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

I am absolutely obsessed. Thank you so much to Forever for the earc.

Rae decides to spice up her sex life after breaking up with a boyfriend. She attends a speed dom/sub event at a local kink club, and comes face to face with General. A mysterious dom that gives her a taste of what being a sub is like. She goes home remembering that night. Later, Rae is going to work, where she is the hr director of a dating app startup, and comes face to face with him again. Except he is there as a consultant.

The lines are blurred, rules are made, and rules are broken. There was so much hilarious banter in this book, seriously spicy scenes, and sweet romance.

Rae steps outside her comfort zone to explore the world of kink and pleasure, and arranges an introductory night for herself at a club where she hopes to meet a dom. Her life is overwhelming, taking care of her dad and sisters, and with an impending work upheaval courtesy of a mean boss she hasn’t met yet. She just wants to let go and think about her own pleasure for a while. The General (a silent partner at the club) is intrigued by Rae when he sees her at the club and in that first meeting their chemistry is off the charts. While it’s clear they would be so good right together in that dynamic, The General is not looking for a sub and Rae goes home disappointed he won’t work with her. However, on Monday morning at work when she finally meets her new boss, Grant, she’s mortified to find out he’s The General from her night of excitement at the kink club. Rae and Grant have to figure out how to work together in this new environment, navigate a complicated after hours relationship, and uncover a work mystery.

————————————-

3.5⭐️ rounded up.

This was a quirky and fun rom-com with some heavier undertones that kept it from being too frivolous. I don’t know anything about dom/sub culture so I’ll choose to believe it’s accurate, and from an outside perspective the parts that featured it was interesting.

Grant was fun, but Rae was a mess…but I think she was supposed to be. I actually kind of understood her. She had so much she felt responsible for that she just wanted to let go. Watching Grant fall in love was cute and really satisfying. I liked how his mother’s constant remarrying affected his thoughts on long term relationships. His backstory was intriguing and believable.

There were a lot of really cute and lighthearted moments that kept this engaging for me (the cat stuff, Rae’s dad’s surprise), but the overarching thought I kept having was what a HR nightmare that job is. 😂 Between Grant/Rae and what they did during office hours AT work, and the other employees drama, it was workplace prime for lawsuits. It was a wild but entertaining ride reading this!

Thank you to Adriana Anders and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book for review.

This audiobook was HOT, I figured by the title it would be but these narrators took it to another level entirely. Not only did I enjoy the story and the spice on its own merits but hearing it spoken by Lila and E.M was next level. Honestly I’d listen to them read the phone book at this point. I wish it had been a fully duet narration it would have been great to hear both of their voices together in both POVs but I still really loved this audiobook.I really liked the writing I’ll be reading some more of Adriana’s works and will absolutely be seeking out more audiobooks narrated by Lila Winters and E.M. Wylde.

This one is for anyone who loves their romcoms with banter, steam, and just a touch of chaos.

We’ve got a sweet, people-pleasing heroine looking to explore a new side of herself, and a broody, emotionally walled-off Dom who’s absolutely not ready for the way she gets under his skin. Their chemistry? Immediate. Their connection? Electric. And when life throws them into close quarters at work, that attraction becomes a slow, simmering pressure cooker of power plays, emotional growth, and undeniable tension.

The spice was hot—shockingly so for how heartfelt the story is—and the humor hit all the right notes. I loved how much the heroine grew in confidence and voice. There’s great forced proximity, “we shouldn’t, but we’re gonna,” and classic romcom miscommunications layered in with kink, growth, and a bit of workplace drama.

My only hang-up? I wanted a bit more from the hero’s arc—specifically when it came to how he processed emotions and communicated—but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the ride.

Also - you need to suspend disbelief - the corporate espionage elements are in no ways, at all, even remotely realistic.
