SHELL GAMES: A Mickey Cleary Novel

Rate this book
Fall of 1979 - the Beach Season at the Jersey Shore is over, the tourists are gone and a tumultuous decade is drawing to a close. But for Long Beach Island detective Mickey Cleary, life rarely provides any lulls. Mickey faces a crossroads - the mounting challenges of being a widowed single mother, an investigation that's become more personal than professional, and a looming threat to her two young children.
Can these obstacles succeed in undoing everything she's worked for since arriving in 1967?
The answer lies in a ruined factory on a dangerous and desolate speck of land a few watery miles from LBI's southern tip. Will it mark a tragic end? Or a new beginning?
Vous decouvirez, the French say.
You'll find out.

A Fitting Finale!

Dan Waters has produced a very appropriate final chapter in his Mickey Cleary series. Enjoyed reading it just as much as the other books in the series. For an aging NJ boomer like me, his inclusion of many places and "tunes" from the time setting of the story brought smiles to my face and chuckles from my lips as I read. And Dan has it right, for those of us who spent time during the summer at the Jersey shore, you never completely get the sand out of your shoes!!!!! 😎 Looking forward to Dan starting another series with new characters soon!
