I bought this for my library’s YA collection and wanted to see why it was listed as YA from our vendor. That paired with the nice short story, getting to enjoy an Inuit tale, and the novelty of seeing the Inuktitut… well this book was just begging to be read by me, is what I’m saying.

The story was simple and satisfying, and was accompanied by simple but beautiful pictures. It was told in a modern setting as a warning of what happens when stories stop being told (and maybe more importantly, listened to) in addition to the original warnings of the Qallupilluit. It’s a sad story, for sure.

I think this will get read more by adults and families than by my teens, but I am glad I bought it for the collection, and read it for myself.
