Living in Phoenix in the heat of summer isn’t for the faint of heart.
Add a cat, and things could get messy. Especially when Kenna doesn’t know why she feels strangely lethargic and keeps missing time. Is she ill, or is something far more sinister at work? She didn’t plan to have to navigate the “in sickness and in health” part of married life so soon, but here she is. With her team backing off to give her and Jax space to be newlyweds, she will have to figure this out without them.
Kenna is up to the challenge. Until it all goes wrong, of course.
A cold case mixes with a present threat, and their enemy seems to be around every corner. With a list of missing people and a hint this might be connected to a shadowy organization, Kenna needs her health to hold out until the case is closed. Uncovering a dangerous plot wasn’t part of her summer plan, but maybe she’s the only one who can bring the truth to light.
This brand of justice will cost her team everything.

One More Chance is of Kenna and Jax navigating being newlyweds, having a cat, and Kenna's health. While trying to find answers to Kenna's health, a cold case has Jax, Kenna, and the team asking more questions and diving deeper as it involves a shadowy organization and missing people. This story has lots of twists and turns and is fast-paced, and the ending will have you wanting to read the next installment in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Life doesn’t slow down for Kenna and Jax at all now that they are married. So many twists and turns you will need a seatbelt. There is a huge cliffhanger that will have you biting your nails until the next book. Loved every bit of it.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the author and Two Dogs Publishing. All opinions are my own.
This series started out interesting, but each book leaves you hanging. By book 12, the story line is so farfetched that it is a real stretch to call these books Christian. I wish I had never started them, but now, I have to read Book 13 because this one just stopped. Not enjoyable at all.
For a series I was not sure I was going to get into, I am loving this series. At the end of the previous book, Kenna and Special FBI Agent In Charge Jax (Oliver Jackson) finally tied the knot, and are married and living together in this book. And man, what a book. Phillips really pulled out all the stops on drama and suspense in this one, and it is truly a book I read in one sitting. I couldn't wait to read this one.
It had all the regular characters - Mazie, Ramon, and Bruce - and a cast of new ones, including some really bad ones. Phillips does great at creating evil characters you love to dislike.
The plot was awesome, partly a continuation of the whole series with new wrinkles and problems. The bad guys really ramped it up in this one, fueled by the author's evil genius.
And the ending, Oh, the ending....there is a cliffhanger warning. Ugh. I ignored that warning. Because it is a major cliffhanger. I won't give spoilers, but I will say it doesn't leave Jax or Kenna in a good place.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book. Not just because of that huge cliffhanger, but book #13 will be from the viewpoint of FBI Special Agent In Charge Oliver Jackson (Jax), new husband of Kenna, the heroine of the series. I think he will even be on the cover.
Special thanks to the author for an advance e-book copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
A well written series that is starting to drag out
This book is good, well written with excellent characters. It is packed with strong heroines and heroes alike. Again the writing is great and it is action-packed, with relationships, growth, and development of characters. I just have some personal opinions on the series running as long as it has.
I've read the entire series up to date and I've enjoyed all of them, however, this main story plot has dragged on for far too long, and should have ended two or three books back.
As this storyline drags on it becomes more and more unbelievable, how many times do the main characters need to be kidnapped?
With One More Chance ending on a cliffhanger, I'll most likely still read the 13th book coming out, but more than likely start it halfway through. I was hoping for an ending but sadly not.
After the ending of the last book, I was selfishly hoping to see more secondary characters. It’s okay that they were already gone, especially since we started with a bang. But I’ll always prefer time with Ryson and Stairns, and I’d have liked to have spent more time with Kenna’s family. (I’ll always be a character over plot person, though both are solid in this series.)
All that said, this one was a wild ride.
We learn a lot more about Dominatus and how far their reach extends. Sometimes it feels like everyone BUT Kenna’s core group is involved. The way this plot and these characters intersect in that nefarious world was cleverly done.
The book ends with more than one person in peril. Can’t wait to see how these problems unfold.
Is it as simple as "Happily ever after"? When Kenna nothing is ever as it appears.
If you know me, you know I love long series when the author is still absolutely killing it 12 books later especially!
I flew through this book, audibly gasping at certain parts lol. It is so good! I started the ARC with the intention of "taking to slow" because I knew it had cliff hangers and I couldn't read the next one immediately. We had the warning for cliff hangers but let me tell you now, I wasn't ready 🤣 make sure you add it to that TBR pile asap 😊
This book is full of unexpected twists and hold-your-breath moments. Kenna is dealing with more than just her usual work. Luckily, she's in Phoenix with her husband, Jax. His support for her through her struggles was so sweet and makes them such a sweet couple. They find themselves tangled up in a job that has to do with a very powerful and deadly group. But things aren't as they seem. This series is a must-read for thriller readers.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
Nothing in One More Chance is as it seems. It's filled with conundrums that have no solutions. When Kenna and her eclectic family think they've figured out one aspect of the overall machinations five more complications arise to demand their attention. And when Kenna comes face to face with the man orchestrating the evil plans being carried out by Dominated her life is changed forever. WARNING: this book is a cliffhanger is be prepared to be on pins and needles for Storm and Tempest in August 2025!
I loved all of it. The same characters fighting the good fight, to rid the evil that once again found its way into Kenna`s life. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story they can't put down. I recommend reading the entire series. The characters will grow on you and leave you wanting more. Excellent reading for all and kenna`s Faith in God adds another layer to the entire journey to getting her brand of justice!!!!!!
I was looking forward to Kenna and Jax being able to enjoy and settle into married life (except they did get a cat) for at least a few pages. After all, they did earn a bit of happiness. Instead it starts with Kenna trying to do a life (which did happen) only to then having children go missing. It sure doesn't look like they are going to be found and safe.
Too many kinds of weird sci-fi circumstances, but even with that I found the book to be captivating. Was a bit shocked at the ending.
Lisa, Lisa, Lisa! When I read about a cliffhanger, I had no idea! Wow! Good and evil and everything else all mixed up together. The ending took me by surprise and I just walked around for about 5 minutes saying I didn’t see this coming. Read the epilogue twice!
I sure hope Book 13 gives Kenna and Jax their happily ever after that they both deserve.
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse!
The book begins with Kenna and Jax enjoying married life, and it’s kind of sweet. But Kenna is sick, and her attempts to get answers just make things worse. There are a bunch of new characters who may or may not be on her side, and the dreadful cliffhanger we were warned about. I had to keep reading to find out what happened, even knowing the ending would be frustrating. Bring on the next book!
great story needs seven stars. Kenna thinks she and Jax are ahead of game only to be set backto start
Kenna and her brand new husband think they are ahead of the game that she was put in. But they soon find they need her misfit crew to help stop the people that keep attacking or kidnapping her to run experiments. This time they both were kidnapped. But they at least had a couple new leads that bring them into more trouble.
When you try to take over the world they will come for you.
Great read. With Kenna & Jax paired up with the team they're out to find those responsible for kidnapping of the children and Dr Dana. Jax gets grabbed by the Mafia to encourage Kenna to get Dana and the kids back. Will it work. Great series.
Left hanging with next book not due,for two months. Can't consider this a stand alone book. I lime a good series but also like for the books to be able to either stand alone of for the next book to be available before I have forgotten the story because of the books I read in between.
I get the books on Kindle Unlimited. If I was buying these outright, it would really start to annoy me. This storyline is dragging on and as a fan of this series, I’m starting to become less a fan. I deducted a whole star just for the drag. Time to move it along Ms. Phillips.
This is a total cliffhanger! I can’t wait for book 13! Hopefully, Lisa is writing it now! Just wow is all I can say! You won’t be disappointed in this series!
I really like suspense books and this one has about 25-50 going on at the same time. The main characters are Kenna and her husband Jax. They get separated from each other and the suspense makes my stomach hurt. Can’t wait to read book 13. Enjoy.
This was such a good story but I was horrified at the ending. I'm hoping another book is in the works or your readers may have their own brand of justice. I do love the character arc for Kenna.
The series has been so full of characters and drama. I have been about to relate and enjoy each book but this one. Really had to force myself to finish it. It’s not believable. I wanted a happy new deserved married life and new start. This is not it. So disappointed
Warn8ng to all: well, she already warned us, this is a cl8ffhanger and leaves Kenna (and Jax, for all we know) in a terrible predicament. The bo9k gets closer to the evil Dominatus, but there are four more books in the series. Write faster, Lisa!
Wow! Kenna and Jax and the team really get swept up in the middle of this one! And it absolutely DOES have a diabolical cliffhanger, so grab the next book right away to keep hanging on that cliff! I can't wait to see what happens next!
Another spell bounding book! This one explored way into the unknown, nearly sci-fi like story. After reading this book I had more questions than answers so I'm really looking forward to the next book.
A truly amazing storyline. Also a very good reason to let us know there is a cliff hanger at the end of this book. All I want to do is get set into the next book and find out what Kenna and her crew will do. Suspense all the way….
Another amazing book by Lisa Phillips. The suspense and mystery is so very exciting. I love the Jenna Brannbery series and I can't wait for the next book.
What a cliffhanger!!!! Great suspense! Keep me on the edge of my seat and up all night! It was so hard to put down. Kept my attention from the first word to last.
