Louisa Balfour, who was the third daughter of the Viscount Elderglen’s five, was a wallflower with a list of daring things she wanted to do. While on her way to attempt one of these deeds, she overheard two women talking about the upcoming wedding of one of her brother-in-law’s friends, the Earl of St Vincent. Apparently, the bride-to-be had a secreat that she has not shared with her intended, and its discovery after the wedding would have serious consequences for him. When Louisa tried to speak with the groom on the day of the wedding, he brushed her off, leaving Louisa with a conflicted conscience. So…..when the priest stated that if anyone knew of a reason why these two should not be married “let them speak now or hereafter forever hold his peace”, Louisa objected. After everyone except Louisa, her family and the Earl had left the church, she explained why she stopped the wedding. Because she had ruined her reputation in order to save him, Cedric, the Earl of St Vincent, told her to be ready for the two of them to marry in three days. They married and moved to his home where Cedric reiterated that their marriage would be in name only, and that she was not to interact with his niece and nephew until he decided that it would be appropriate. You see, not too long ago, Cedric’s younger brother and his wife were killed in a house fire, leaving five year old twins Abigail and Kenneth orphans. A very distraught Cedric took them in and was struggling with how to handle them. Thus, the impetus to quickly find a wife. He left Louisa to learn her new duties from his housekeeper, Mrs. Brooks. What Louisa learned was that the two children were scared, grieving and being forced to behave like little adults. Louisa fought Cedric on the way that the children were being treated, and eventually there was actually laughter in the house. While Cedric was desperately trying not to fall in love with Louisa, viscious rumors were being circulated. When one particular rumor invoked an incident that threatened Louisa’s well-being, Cedric finally realized what was really important in his life. This story is so good! There are some things that will break your heart and tie your stomach in knots, and there are other moments of humor, laughter and sheer joy. It is a well written tale with surprises, emotional ups and downs, and a wonderful set of characters. It is so much fun to see Louisa come out of her shell, and watch Cedric become totally besotted!

An enjoyable book, but I wasn't sure why the hero was so against marriage. It didn't seem to fit his character and was somewhat of an afterthought. Otherwise, the book was well-written and a lovely romance.

Cedric and Louisa would seem to be the most unlikely pair. Louisa seems so young, Cedric so remote. However, nothing is ever as it seems. A decision made, a wedding gone wrong, an unexpected new wedding starts these two on a journey together. Louisa may be retiring and uncomfortable in crowds, but she has a heart that sings in the most unexpected ways. She has a voice, which is quite witty and when she is vexed, that voice can cause a certain husband to rethink his options. Cedric finds his life is not going to plan, which really is not a surprise. He has a new wife, custody of his niece and nephew and his orderly world is tilting on its axis. Their relationship needs work, but these two somehow find a way to communicate, sometimes in unexpected ways. They manage to forge a new relationship into a family and still not lose themselves. This was such a delightful read. All the characters brought so much to the story. I loved the weaving of fairy tales and stories into this new family. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Louisa overhears two ladies discussing the upcoming wedding of the Earl of St. Vincent. She overhears them say the bride is pregnant, but the earl is not the father. Louisa knows she must do something and she attempts to talk to the earl before the wedding, but he is too busy. When the priest asks if there is anyone who knows why these two should not be wed, Louisa speaks up. However she tells an entirely different story, but it stops the wedding. Now what will happen? You will have to read this funny, sad and interesting story to find that answer and more.

A unique story how a lady disrupts a wedding of an Earl to rescue him from the woman he plans to marry. This then leads to their “in name only” marriage. It is an easy and quick read as each character struggles to fulfill the expectations of their positions, and muddle through the unexpected marriage arrangement. Beyond the multiple typos and missing words throughout the story, Mrs Brooks was switched to Mrs Brook often. It is another enjoyable from Ms Baton. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.

After reading the preview to this book I new I had to read the rest to find out what happened after Louisa crashed the Earl's wedding to another woman. Louisa was the perfect 'replacement' bride for Cedric since he needed a bride to care for his niece and nephew. But like most situations Earl Cedric got much more than he bargained for with Louisa. I really enjoyed the children and even though theirs was a heart breaking story of tragedy, Louisa was just what they needed. Louisa was also just what Earl Cedric needed in his life too.

Salvation or Incaged!

A story of what happens when you try to do what’s right! Louisa overhears s scheme of a lady that is trapping Earl Cedric in marriage. The lady is pregnant, and plans on saying it’s his. So Louisa disrupts the wedding, so he says she will marry him. Marriage of convenience, he needs a woman to help raise his orphan niece and nephew, twin of his deceased brother and his wife in a fire! Of course all kinds of problems arise, happy reading!

Louisa needed to tell Cedric, the Earl of St. Vincent, something significant before he married. Unfortunately she was unable to do so before the ceremony began, but she was able to interrupt it so that it was cancelled. Cedric still needed a mother for his orphaned nephew and niece so he married Louisa. This was supposed to be a marriage in name only but that was before Cedric became a changed man with Louisa that he was able to find love and a fulfilling relationship with her.

You are my replacement Countess
Louisa married Cedric the most sought after man in London. A story full of challenges, hurt and ton gossip. The love of five sisters, two little wards needing love and a friend. An Earl and a wallflower will either find love or their marriage will end in a disaster!

Family of convenience

Louisa and Cedric married for the sake of his orphaned niece and nephew. They needed a loving mother to help them deal with their grief. Cedric had a bad parental experience and didn't know how to relate to his young charges. The marriage was rocky as they both struggled with their new roles. This was an interesting read with unique characters.

The Earl and the Wedding Crasher

A unique blend of wallflower and strong-willed/headstrong character that finds her place in this life through persistence and a bit of luck. The many conflicts help build the main part of this tale and its characters’ twists and turns keep it interesting.

speak now

Speak now or forever hold your peace. Speaking up at a wedding wasn’t the plan but how else could she warn the Earl?
This is a great story. I have read a few not in order. It has been interesting to get to know the family. I recommend Tiffany Baton. I enjoy her style of writing very much.

best one

Your best yet. Filled with angst. Characters like Cedric presenting a mystery and a confused loving wife. I also liked how you hinted at Cedric becoming like his mother but never mentioned it.

A wedding crasher, who sets off a series of events.

It was a beautiful story of love slowly building in a marriage of convenience. A family hurt by death, and children orphaned. Until they all come together. Happy ever after? Read it and see. You won't regret it.

removing Barriers

Although a charming man, Cedric had a lot of issues with his past. With the help of Louisa, he was able to grow into a loving man. The story of how this happened was a delight to read.

aggravating

This book has too many back and fourths. Male main character doubts himself too much.while putting on a mask of being totally in charge.

I do feel Louisa was a little bit to timid at first, but I do appreciate that she was trying her best to make peace in the house, though I was really glad when she started standing up for herself & others.

I found Mr Brooks extremely vexing, she did have a nice moment, but overall I thought she was way too pushy & presumptuous.

I really didn't like that he was a rake & felt there are some cringy moments that were out of his character.

I thought the children were really funny & had cute moments.

I did really love how they started to slowly get to know each other & become a real family, though I did struggle with there being 70 page of low moments, given that the book was only 277 pages.
