Picked this up to skip "Millennium". Cool time travel short, make me wanna read its bigger cousin now.

It really dragged me in and made me curious about the author. It answered all the questions it inspired and a solid well thought out idea, later turned into a book.

Interesting short tale about a dystopian future in which the world has been destroyed.

Read this as part of "The Persistence of Vision" collection.

One of the best time-travel stories I've read, ever -- with post-apocalypse undertones and a very unconventional airplane hijack added to the mix. Incredible it could be done so well in so few pages! Recommended without reservation, rating 5/5 -- would give it 6 stars if I could."

There's much more depth here than in Millennium(novel). Varley cut many interesting arcs and replaced them with stupid Bill and his useless investigation.
Millennium(novel) was a 1 star for me, this one is an infinite times better read, it's short and tight story.

This is a great story about the son of a World War 2 veteran who meets the soldiers that served with his father and hears the terrible tales.

Short story that formed the basis for the poorly-received movie, millennium.
