Hades: An Underworld Love Story

Rate this book
Harley Bringing life into the world is what I’m best at, but when he walks into my life, everything seems to shift. I no longer know what my purpose is in life because he is all I see. Hades is intimidating and controlling—everything I know I should run from. He reminds me too much of my a cruel man who ran a motorcycle club and destroyed my childhood.
Falling for a man like him was never in my plans. He terrifies me, but the chemistry between us is hard to ignore. I wish I could hate him. I wish I could escape the way he makes my heart race.
Falling for Hades means triggering the nightmares of my past. But it’s hard to resist when he is the only man who has ever made me feel safe.

Hades Her innocence drives me insane. She’s weak, like my poor mother had been. Weak women have a higher chance at a short life. I should know. And yet, the desire I feel for Harley is bigger than anything I can control. I want to break her. I want to protect her.
But that can’t be my reality. I don’t believe in love. My mother was the only woman I ever loved, and she left me to suffer under the hand of an evil man. At sixteen years old, I swore I’d never let anyone get that close again.
But every time I look at her, my heart does an annoying little dance. I feel her under my skin in a way I can’t explain. She makes me want things I don’t want and swore I’d never desire.
I can’t fall for her, but she’s already working her way into my system. I’m not sure what good can come from that.

An underworld motorcycle club romance that will leave you falling in love with the dark.

Come on Cyn!! I have come to learn that you bring us heartfelt stories with a lil trauma, and strong characters that we grow to love! This one was one was just that! 😍

Hades! Whew!! This man was a bully! Rude, mean as hell, took pleasure in bringing forth fear in people, and didn't care how he talked to you. Caring for his siblings and running his motorcycle club was all that mattered to him. Until....

Harley loved bringing life into the world as a midwife and relished in the love of her friends. Beyond that she lived with guilt and shame of things that happened in her childhood, that she could not shake.

At the end of her shift one night, a commotion catches her ear, and she intervenes. Lawd, what she do that for. She encounters this huge, yet handsome man, that drags her from the hospital to help deliver his nephew against her will. This man is so intimidating to Harley, yet she is also intrigued by him. In a strange way, he makes her feel safe although she was basically kidnapped. The push and pull between these two was intense. Hades was not used to anyone challenging his word, but he liked the fiery side of Harley. This woman was making him feel things, do things, and he was changing right before his very eyes. Harley should be running for the hills, but she was beginning to feel things for him as well.

When we learned of the trauma both Hades and Harley experienced, I was gutted. 💔 They both lived with fathers who were trash and scarred them forever with all they experienced. 🥹 Harley understood Hades so much better once that revelation was revealed. It was a long road for them both to have peace in their lives, but they found that and more with each other. I loved how Harley was able to see beyond the brash, and hardened man to see that he just was a scared boy who needed love. Beautiful read. 💓👍🏿👍🏿

I needed Hades and Harley's book to be longer because I wanted more. That man was a menace. A true blue menace. He was a bully, mean as hell, aggressive and demanding, obsessive and possesive and didn't know how to talk to people but he didn't play with Harley and about Harley. He was also very loyal to the people closest to him, his siblings and his best friend.

I liked the yin and yang of his and Harley's dynamic. He was rude as hell and a lot and she was sweet and nurturing. Hades wasn't a soft man at all but I loved when he started trusting Harley and told her about his past. The both of them were dealt a bad hand in the parents department and had a lot of unresolved trauma because of it but I enjoyed how they confided in each other. If you bad boy x good girl and the bully trope, you'll like this little novella. The comedy was pretty good as well, I loved how Hades was trying to steal Pixie, Harley's little teacup Yorkie because he liked her company 😂. I'm interested in seeing where the rest of this series goes.

hmm..

The ending was okay. I’m not a fan of men who bully the person they so clearly want to be with and I struggle even more with the “weak” woman thing… maybe I need to be in therapy? Or maybe Cyn does…

***SPOILER ALERT***

There was real potential to tell this same story with more careful messaging. No woman should ever want to be with a man that enjoys evoking fear in her. In a world full of toxic love, I think this romanticizes something that is truly dangerous in the real world. Every time he found joy in her being afraid of his energy and demeanor, I cringed in the worst way. I want the guilty pleasure of wanting a bully when I read a book, but not the guilt of supporting unhealed behavior. Be a bully to everyone, BUT the person you claim to want to love.

The idea that he was worried about being like his father didn’t actually land because there was no chapter where he truly addressed it or apologized for his past behavior. There weren’t any scenes prior to her saying “I love you” that warranted her love for him. There was no growth in her character throughout the book. If you’re going to give me a story about perfectly imperfect couples and love, sell me the fantasy.

I LOVE smut. I hated this smut. It felt like a bad relationship when your ex just fucks you or makes you come so you can get out your feelings. Or worse, to deal with their own emotions with no consideration for your enjoyment. Sure, you both come. But afterwards you have this dreadful feeling that you allowed yourself to be degraded a little more.

Cyn has yet to disappoint me. I’ll never understand how she manages to make characters connect with a reader in such a small amount of pages but it’s truly a gift. A nice twist of Hades and Persephone storyline and I love how therapeutic these books are.

I was excited for this book but I liked book 1 better. The plot was good but not great. Hades are mean and a bully but in a protective kind of way. At times his meanness came off as cringy but overall I’m glad the FMC and her sister reunited.

Exercise Autonomy

Hmmm, the siblings names should have been an indication 🤔. “Hades: An Underworld Love Story (BLP Motorcycle Club - Book 2)” (2.5 ⭐️’s) is/was my inaugural read of Author’s Cyn literary catalog, and my last. I’m not certain who the target audience, but I’m confident it’s not me. This series (and I’ve only read two books 🥴) thus far has me conflicted 😐 (once again🤨 🤷🏾‍♀️🤭)…because I expected an urban romance not penitentiary porn. WITAH⁉️There’s no humor, entertainment nor pleasure in supporting storylines which involves abuse, assault, violence, objectification and exploitation towards females. Furthermore, I’m insulted by this dystopian culture these same female characters are victimize again under the disturbing pretext of which the principle male heroine character & or to obtain some other illiterate adversary degenerate with subjective BDE just for a few “he likes me” or “I love you’”brownie points or his approval to validated her femininity & existence. You’ve got to be kidding me 🤦🏾‍♀️, EXPLETIVE‼️ Nope, raise the standard, seek professional therapy (if you choose) & exercise your personal & professional autonomy. I refuse to dignify this book as artistic expression‼️ …Nj gurl, just stay in your genre comfortability zone🤷🏾‍♀️🤭🧐.

Whew. This was a true bully romance with a heaping scoop of toxicity and a slice of Stockholm syndrome🫣Hades was insufferable for a very large portion of the book. He was rude, physically & verbally aggressive and just plain mean. I wanted Harley to stand up too because girl… why are you letting this man talk to and treat you this way. Eventually though he softened and allowed himself to be loved by her, & I guess she leaned into his protective nature. I do wish we saw more character development though in him actually apologizing to her for being the way he was, and her actually standing up to him since she often said she doesn’t advocate for herself. I’m conflicted on how I feel about them being together because I swear idk how they even fell in love. But yay for happily ever after I suppose.

Maybe I'm just in my soft love era but Hades was demanding, a bully and quite frankly grabbed Harley one too many times. He wasn't the kind of alpha I like.....he was just a violent asshole.

Saving grace for Hades was that he was a sucker for Harley, her pup and his nephew.

Hades!! 🥵🥵 That man that man!! He made me so mad in the beginning but in the end I loved him. Just like women need and want a man to love and protect them men need the same from their woman too. Hades might have been a little unhinged but he meant well. Harley came in and shook up Hades world and he didn’t know what to do with that. She definitely had the power of the P! lol She showed him things he didn’t know he wanted or needed. Heck she needed him just as much.

There is a moment near the end of the book where one of the main characters realizes something about themself that they hadn’t thought before they met this other person. I didn’t like the bullying that Hades did. I didn’t like how Hades was quick to put his hands on people even women: I did like that we knew this guy liked to see fear in people. He liked that people listened to him because he led with fear. I was not team Hades.
The book was a quick read.
These people annoyed me.

I went into this book completely blind & was definitely shocked & put off from Hades. I personally feel it was way more than bully or dark more like disrespectful. Harley first interaction with her sister & the conversation was very weird. Not my my favorite characters at all & didn’t feel connected to the characters at all. It felt very rushed to me and a lot of things happening at once. Towards the end it felt it got a little better but overall I feel it just missed the mark.

Hades is one man you don't want to mess with! He is the protector and provider for his siblings and he will do anything for them. He will even kidnap a nurse to help bring his new nephew into this world. This was a quick spicy read for me and I love this series from BLP.

Hades is exactly what I mean when I say a talented author can make almost anything palatable because baby! There is no reason I should have loved Hades. He was a bully, rude, disrespectful, arrogant, and unyielding. Would I date him? Absolutely not maybe LOL. I know. I know. I wouldn't. *side eye*. Trust me, I'm ashamed. Feel free to judge me. He literally dragged Harley from her place of business to his home to deliver his sister's baby and then refused to let her leave. Police! But for some reason, I could not hate him.

First of all, when most authors try to write male characters like this, the men usually come off as posers trying to be hardcore and just doing too much. Hades wasn't 'trying' to be anything. He WAS that mfer. His whole family hopped to when he opened his mouth; they knew what time it was. And at the same time, they respected him but weren't outright afraid of him. They put him in check when they needed to. Even his sister said that if Harley had truly pushed for a hospital during her home delivery, he would have relented. He would not have (further) jeopardized the safety of his newborn nephew if things got dire. He was his family's protector. He loved them and they loved him. The author wrote him in such a way that it wasn't some reveal much later as to why he was the way he was. You understood him and his intentions and his heart from the door. She allowed him to be vulnerable. It also helped that he was unintentionally hilarious!! I mean the number of times I bust out laughing over some mess he said while he was supposedly being mean and grumpy...

Harley was soft (Hades called her weak, and then clarified that he meant soft), and I agree. She allowed much more than I would have but I didn't want to bash her head in from her stupidity. I understood her. Toward the end, I would have liked maybe a little more backbone from her towards Hades, like she did with her ex, but she was naturally not a confrontational person, except when it came to her patients. Her putting Hades in check the first time had me crying.

Pixie (dog) turning into Hades' sidekick was hilarious, and the newer addition was even more welcome. Thank you for making them puppies and not kittens. Yay!

The ending was everything. I was so happy, and clearly Harley had Hades wrapped around her finger by then, even though he was still (hilariously) grumpy.

I won't even read what the lowest rated reviews say because they are not wrong. As a society, they are the best and brightest among us, morale upstanding citizens all, but I'm gonna have to rock with the five-star reviewers on this one. Sorry. Not sorry.

Also, that cover - A++

Also, Lu needs a book.

Took me by surprise

This book took me by surprise. I am not sure what I was expecting but I know I wasn’t expecting what it gave. This book took me on an emotional journey. One minute I was chuckling the next I was in tears. I loved everything about this grumpy x sunshine romance. Hades whew that man needed some work he was so mean but when he considers you someone he f’s with he does not play about you and he did not play about Harley not one bit. Harley was so sweat and caring. Sis was bound to break out in a cry. I thought she would be a little timid but she ended up speaking up when she needed to. There are some trigger warnings I’m afraid if I name them it might take away some of the surprise so I won’t but just know to protect your mental. This book gets heavy at times but only for a short while. This was a quick read and if you loved Demon’s Dream you will enjoy this book because Hades definitely gave me Demon vibes.

Sometimes, life throws you in a direction you never expected—one that feels chaotic, overwhelming, and completely out of your control. But sometimes, that path leads you to exactly where you need to be. Hades: An Underworld Love Story is one of those books that grabs you from the first scene and doesn’t let go. It’s intense, emotional, and packed with the kind of chemistry that crackles off the page.

Harley is a midwife/doula, someone who brings life into the world and helps families in their most vulnerable moments. She’s also healing—trying to put distance between herself and a toxic past while staying fiercely loyal to the two close friends who mean everything to her. But beyond that, she’s a loner, someone who’s comfortable in her own space. That is, until a fateful encounter at the hospital changes everything.

Enter Hades. Big, brooding, intimidating—exactly the kind of man who should send her running in the opposite direction. But instead, she finds herself dragged (literally) into his world when he demands her help delivering his sister’s baby. And once the work is done? He’s not letting her leave. Not yet. Not until he’s sure everything is fine. And maybe… not even then.

What makes this book so addictive is the push and pull between Harley and Hades. He’s been closed off for years, unwilling to let anyone in, and yet something about her unravels him. He doesn’t understand it, but he can’t fight it either. The question is—can Harley handle the storm that comes with a man like Hades? And more importantly, does she want to?

If you love a brooding, possessive MMC who meets the one person capable of breaking through his defenses, this book is absolutely for you. The tension is there, the chemistry is fire, and the emotional depth makes it impossible to put down. I devoured this one and immediately dove into the rest of the series. Trust me, you’ll want to do the same.

Hades!!!!!

Please stop playing with HADES!!! This bully of a man played no games! First let me say that childhood trauma is no joke and it’s an experience you’ll forget. Forgiving and forgetting are 2 different things.

Harley, my girl was the sweetest but childhood trauma keeps her on edge, but her way of dealing with it was working and helping those that needed help. This all stir from her feeling that she didn’t help when she was needed the most - at least to her. Having to become part of the system caused her to separate from her sister and the guilt she had on To keep her even further away as she never looked for her sister! You know what I emptied the most about her was her love to help others! However, her helping others cause her to interact with the bully himself - Hades!

Hades! This man portray to be this hard core angry, enforcer and the devil himself - lol. But honestly to me he was a big teddy bear with a strong edge to him 🤣! He must didn’t have that light in life, you know the light that will have you walking right into it with the warmest embrace! Yeah my guy didn’t think he would ever see that tour of light, oh but when he did 🫣 he met - Harley! Listen, that day was the start of his life change- for the BEST!

Can we discuss the support team that Harley had? When I say there are not too many friends left like Sage and Blair. The way these ladies supported each out, something ALL woman should have in my opinion! They was they had her back when it came to Drew🤣🤣..

There of so much I can say, from Drew to Mayor Ashford but this review would NEVER end!! Definitely can wait for the need remote

This book caught me by surprise.

I am not going to lie. This book had me all in my feelings. I did not like Hades in the beginning. I found him rude, abrasive, loud, mean, and abrupt with absolutely no home training. That man had me putting this book on pause so I could get a much needed drink and calm myself down. Once I got back into the book and learned about Hades, Lucifer, and Eris background, I started to realize why Hades was the way that he was. And don't you know I started to like that dude.

Hades and Harley started off on the wrong foot right out the gate. They clashed with mean mugging looks and harsh words. But the attraction, the lust, and the need for dominance were evident and very powerful. Soon, they would become the air each other needed to survive.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the heck out of this story. I hollered so many times! Pixie was so adorable! She even had Hades wrapped around her little paw. I loved and had mad respect for how Hades dealt with Drew, Vixen, and Henry. That man has the name Hades for a reason. They got their just desserts and then some. If you know, you know. The reunion between Cati and Harley? Epic!!

Overall, I'm in awe of this book. This author took me on a journey that had me on a wicked rollercoaster joyride wondering just how it was going to end. Secretly, I was cheering really hard, hoping that Hades and Harley would get their HEA with a juicy epilogue. And author Cyn did not disappoint. This was a banger in my book and is definitely going on my must-read list for 2025. Thank you ma'am for an incredibly awesome read.

With an iron fist....

Ms. Cyn, I have to admit this is the first book I have read by you. Although it's well-written, I have to say Hades had to grow on me. His unhinged and mean personality was a bit much throughout the book. He learned how to show his love to Harley and their "kids." Hades managed to train Pixie, and she immediately adopted him as her father. Gotham was a surprise and added addition to the family. Hades may have run his life with an iron fist. However, his motorcycle club was a positive one. He didn't use his club for evil or trying to cause malice through the city. His and Harley's love bloomed in the most unconventional way, but it still blossomed.

This is another magnificent installment in the motorcycle club series. There is always more than one lesson taught in each book. Let's not entertain Hades' father and his role in Hades' life. One of the major life changing events was Harley and Cati reunion. Sisters and sisterhood are always a priority no matter the circumstances. A reunion that was long due happened. Ladies and gents, don't forget to grab your copy today. You will be dragged into the book immediately from the first page.

Hades ...He may have been named after evil, and he may have tried to exude evilness, but she saw him for who he really was. Blunt. Mean. Arrogant. Alpha. Misunderstood. All words to describe him perfectly, but not evil. Never evil.

I can say that I initially wanted to whoop Hades myself for his overly aggressive actions towards Harley. Harley is such a sweetheart and life has been nothing but cruel to her. These two might be polar opposites but over time it became evident how much they could benefit from one another. However, we also were able to see that Hades' behavior was just as rooted in trauma as well. I might have a little toxicity in me because just like Harley, I found Hades attractive once you bypass his grumpy and rude demeanor. The way he was on Drew's head, figuratively and literally, when it came to Harley is just how I like my men. My heart cried out for her sister Cati. Their reunion was much needed in both their healing journey. Glad to see they both received a happy ending..

Cyn, you outdid yourself with this one.

way better than the first installment to this series

This was a million times better than the first installment. I wasn’t even gone read this book because I didn’t realize the whole series wasn’t written by the same author. I had already downloaded 1 and 2 together and when I went to delete part two I saw Cyn, so I gave it a try. I’ve read other books by this author that I liked. Let me just say that I don’t like bullies at all, so it was hard for me to like the MMC. I guess you can say he had some redeeming qualities, so he was ok by the end of the book. The MFC worked my nerves a LOT, but the story was still intriguing so I was able to finish. I do wish we got one or 2 chapters from Drew just to see what he was thinking. I love to see the enemies reactions when they lose, it’s like a satisfaction for me esp when they don’t die. The best punishment to me is when they live and have to watch their own life crumble.

The 4 stars is because there were a few errors, and characters name change in the book.

Cyn gone do it for me every time!!!!!!!! Hades was everything !!!!!! I loooooved his mean ass from the minute he stormed into the birthing center and kidnapped my girl Harley…. He was a big teddy bear who just needed a little sweetness to soften him up and Harley was exactly what he needed!!! I love that for him!!!!

Harley that poor sweet angel !!! I love her. She was so perfect and I love that she didn’t let his roughness scare her away!!!! My girl was a lil freak 😝😜!!!

Cati I love her strength. That poor baby was stronger than someone who was in her situation would be and I am proud of her. That man of hers I love him too because you know it took a lot for him to love her properly and cater to the things she needed to love and trust again. I hope they get a story because I would love to see the way he loved on her!!!!

One thing I also love about CYN is she gone give you a few year jump and tell you how they ended up and sometimes you really need that. It’s refreshing to leave a book feeling full and complete.

CYN girl you did this!!

Out the gate Hades is an asshole, rude, controlling and, a kidnapper. His methods are abrasive leaving no room for a rebuttal. I heel bad for his family at 1st. Once he gets Harley to come with him there are things they both must face their past that are ever present. For this to be a short book it unpacks a lot. You have a controlling ex with a darkness and secret. Harley must re-live her childhood with a part of her that she is so scared to confront. Hades dad comes into play but not in the way you think by no means is he the good guy. Hades also must address his feelings as to why he is the way he is and why Harley makes him feel. I love how a soft spoken and caring women can turn the devil into a soft teddy bear. Both never got a childhood and when Harley is reunited with Cati 🥹!! Hades is a great big brother, uncle, provider and protector. Look how pixie even moves around him. The fact that they found peace in each other and were able to be vulnerable for what feels like the 1st time. The chemistry was on ten from the moment she was kidnapped. So many loops take place in the book and keep you on your toes. Loved everything about this story!!!

This was amazing...

It truly aren't enough words to describe how amazing this book was written. Says definitely did the d*** thing. Everything about hades when I first met him made me want to dislike him but really he was like an onion every time you pulled a layer back There was a complexity to his character. I really did love him for Harvey she needed someone that was d*** near high-handed to really help her through her obstacles self-inflicted or not. They really put so much into each other to really help them grow as a couple. Really finding out Hades back story with his father when I tell you I cried at that part I didn't expect it I knew it was gonna be something deep but I've definitely just... my heart shattered. There was such a beautiful pain to this story that really made me appreciate it so much more.

Hades: An Underworld Love Story (BLP Motorcycle Clubs Book 2)

Hades lives up to his name. He is unapologetically mean, rude, and unhinged. He doesn't give a f@#$. His childhood abuse has made him into the man he is today. He's a protector and will burn the city down if anyone messes with the people he loves. With his sister in labor and not a fan of hospitals, Hades pulls up to a birthing center demanding help. Harley, who is a midwife and doula, is getting off and hears voices raised at the front. She steps in and is basically told that she has to help his sister.

Doing so, she and Hades develop a relationship. They are what each other needed without knowing. This is a beautiful love story about forgiveness, redemption, and family. Well done!
