Updated Review 6/18/25: THE PAINNNNNNNNNN!! 😭😭😭😭 So much pain, though thankfully we have some humor scattered throughout because I don't know what my heart would have done otherwise.

Also Miguel! I love him! He is such a gem of a character! And Yana too!!

Original Review 1/6/25: Me: I really don't enjoy reading angsty stories.

Also Me: *actively devours this series with tears in my eyes*

This volume felt like pure pain, but not necessarily at the beginning! I was SO happy with how happy our characters were at first and couldn't help but smile with joy alongside them!

But then…stuff was said, characters were stubborn, characters were heartbroken, and my heart was broken right alongside them.

I feel like I'm at a loss for words because Oriana's pain feels so overwhelming when you see how lonely she has been and only wants Vincent to stay alive while she is by his side. What can she do though when he makes it known he does not want her nor is her presence welcomed? My heart feels like it's being ripped out just thinking about it 😭😭😭

On a lighter note amongst all the pain, I LOVED Yana and Miguel so much in this volume! I've adored them both thus far, but seeing Yana and Oriana have such a special scene together really uplifted my heart because I love seeing girl friendships thrive! With Miguel, I was deeply touched by how he came to HER and talked to her about HIS feelings. He's one of my favorite characters and seeing him hurt because of Vincent and Oriana's "discourse" really hurt me because he's such a kind and fun character. His smile MUST be protected!

Thankfully his smile was by the end, but I will be curious to know how things will unfold next! Vincent and Oriana both have their own misunderstandings and I'm unsure how they are going to overcome it. However, that one cousin seems shady and I feel she knows things and could be a culprit as to what happened in the past. I definitely don't like her despite that she doesn't seem too unfriendly, but the way she's acting in the little we've seen doesn't vibe with me that's for sure!

Outside of her though, this was a very good sequel and I definitely need the next volume immediately, please!

L’art, l’histoire et les persos tout est incroyaaable !! La narration est bien rythmée, la prota je l’ADORE et plus ca avance mieux c’est !
Ça sort en France dans quelques mois et vous pouvez être sûr que je l’achète DIRECT

Un 2e tome qui m'a beaucoup plu même si l'intrigue n'avance pas beaucoup. On suit les avancées d'Oriana bien décidée à se rapprocher de Vincent pour lui éviter la mort. Leur relation avance doucement et on sent que Vincent est loin d'être indifférent. Les personnages secondaires ne sont pas en reste et j'apprécie particulièrement Miguel. Les dessins sont toujours aussi beaux, fluides et agréables à regarder. Bref, j'aime et j'espère que la suite bougera un peu plus.

Maintenant que l'agacement pour le comportement de l'héroïne est un peu passé, j'ai beaucoup plus apprécié ma lecture de ce deuxième tome.
Dans le un, elle était juste TROP sur le héros que ça en était pénible autant pour moi que lui, là elle se "calme" dû à plusieurs événements et je l'ai trouvée plus dosée. En conséquence, je trouve que son personnage se nuance plus et que sa personnalité apparaît enfin..
L'univers s'ouvre aussi un peu plus dans cette suite et j'ai hâte d'en découvrir plus dans le troisième !

Ich bin so zwiegespalten, was diese Reihe angeht. Zum einen finde ich Oriana und ihre andauernden Liebeserklärung wirklich nervig. Andererseits hat sich in diesem Band einiges getan, was zu einer neuen Dynamik gefühlt hat. War sie viel zu voreilig mit ihrem Entschluss, den Lehrer zu verdächtigen und sich selbst in Gefahr zu bringen? Ja. Es hat wiederum aber auch zu ihrem Charakter gepasst. Am Ende, nach dem Streit, hinterfragt sie ein paar Dinge, die sie durch ihren Fokus auf Vincent in diesem Leben hat schleifen lassen. Ich bin aber froh, dass sie Yana und Miguel hat. Vincent war in diesem Band aber eine reine Achterbahnfahrt. Erst mag er sie, will es aber nicht wahr haben. Dann vielleicht doch. Dann erfährt er von dem Geheimnis und will sie dann nicht mehr bei sich haben, weil er meint, sie mag nur den alten Vincent. Auch wenn das zum Teil stimmt, der jetzige Vincent hat sich ihr auch nie geöffnet, also warum sollte sie ihm sagen, dass sie ihn auch mag. naja, alles sehr pubertär würde ich sagen. Dieses ganze und die Geheimnisse haben es mir aber irgendwie auch angetan, weshalb ich eigentlich schon Interesse habe, allein aus dem Grund weiterzulesen. Und Oriana scheint sich ja auch etwas zu verändern. Und dann sind da noch Yana und Azraq, deren Geschichte irgendwie unter einem schlechten Stern steht, wenn ich auch sehr für ihn hoffe, dass es doch gut endet. Also, ich weiß nicht. Der dritte Band wäre auf jeden Fall der make-it-or-break-it-point. Diese Chance würde ich der Reihe aber geben.

vol 2 started of soo happy and cheerful, and then everything went down T-T ahh my dear oriana, i just want to crossover and give you one big hug!! this sweet child has been living in constant fear that her precious person would die once again and she'd be helpless all over again. and vincent,,, ajjchdjdshhj i get his turmoil and displeasure (?) but can't you also see how much she's suffering as well? just don't hurt her to protect yourself :( the angst is angsting here (┬┬﹏┬┬)

i adored yana and miguel this vol sooo very much!!! yana being beside oriana and reminding her, she's there by her side. and even miguel feeling torn apart between his two friends (he's the real child of divorce *sigh*), and how he came to oriana and talked to her.

also i just know that cousin of vincent's has something to do with his death. she just feels suspicious?? and what was that letter girl??

Definitely a stronger volume, though I'm still not sure why this has made two major industry lists. I'll try to get to the original LN sooner rather than later and see if that helps me figure it out.

Ça continue sur sa lancée. C'est beau, touchant et drôle. On commence à apprendre des petites choses sur l'univers et on a de quoi commencer à faire des théories tout en faisant davantage connaissance avec les personnages. Vraiment top !

Ah ! C’est bien mieux. Effectivement les « je t’aime trop trop trop » de l’héroïne c’est agaçant. Enfin l’univers s’ouvre, on passe par plusieurs stades émotionnels lors de la lecture. Et pis il y a des beaux gosses de partout !!! Désolé, je sors d’une lecture de Kindergarten Wars voyez-vous… 😂

The secondary characters really made this one even better. I hate that the plot of what happened to Vincent is moving so slowly, but it's made up by the charismatic and fun side characters for me. Azraq and Yana are so sweet and heartwrenching to see, the forbidden love between them so bittersweet. Miguel seemed at first like a second male lead but I do think he truly loves Oriana as a friend and cares for her like a sister. I could be wrong but that's what it feels like to me.

I love stories with a angsty moments. Oriana and Vincent have some misunderstandings to overcome and i’m interested to see how they resolve them. I feel very empathetic towards Oriana and her struggle to navigate this difficult situation. Oriana and Miguel have such an adorable friendship, loved the moments shared between them. Very excited to read the next volume.

3.5⭐️ Énormément de points positifs du côté des personnages. Mais j’ai énormément de mal avec Vincent, il joue avec le chaud et le froid. En plus, il est décrit comme galant mais il est toujours hyper rude envers Oriana. Il s’énerve super rapidement le gars. Pas hyper cohérent. Affaire à suivre.

Le système de magie est vraiment cool et j’ai hâte de voir où l’intrigue va mener.

It's definitely better volume! We could see side characters, but I also enjoyed Vincent's perspective regarding FL.
FL gete chance to develop some character (something more than "I love you. Vincent") and I hope she will look for her path in next volumes.

it's angsty and adorable at the same time i love itttt and the story is gripping, however, my main issue is that oriana is so utterly devoted to vincent and they're just 17 year old teenagers. but i hope we get to see how their love story was formed

This was heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, but a beautiful display of what someone sacrifices in the name of love. Whether that be friends, a chance at a life with the person they love, or choosing a completely different path for the sake of protecting the one they love.

Siento que empiezo a sospechar de alguien que no debería, pero hay cosas que no me cuadran del todo.
Oriana ha sacrificado tanto🥲 mi niña no merece. Me gusta mucho su amistad con Yana.
Vincent no quiere reconocer lo evidente o al menos no lo dirá en voz alta...de momento.
