The city of Gaia will be rocked by battles now that the Compass Key has awoken beneath her cobblestone streets.
From the Caster Swamp to the Island of Pallice, the race for the long lost relic has begun and only one side can claim victory. The Compass Key will open the path of destiny for Luke and his friends, but it may also awaken an ancient monster. With Queen Trinity and the chaos elves invading Gaia, every misstep will be costly and each battle will bring the weakened champions closer to exhaustion.
Each hero will need to draw from the depths of their soul to survive, but will it be enough when they face an enemy more sadistic than anything they have ever fought?
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
This is the 5th book in the Legends of Windemere series. And I think one of my favorites.
Luke, Nyx, Fizzle and others all return for another grand adventure. I felt like I got to know the characters better through the events in this book. There was no lack of excitement. Yallowitz is a master of the epic battle scenes. His descriptions make me feel as if I was in the ice chamber or the swamp with the champions. I especially liked the expanded role for my favorite - Fizzle.
If you haven't read this series yet, I would encourage you to get started. They are a delight. Definitely a five star book.
another great book by charles yallowitz, read it in one sitting couldn't put it down.looking forward to the next book, hopefully I won't have to wait to long for it.
I read this as part of The Legends of Windermere Fantasy Series Bundle 2.
Stand by for another episode of trials, errors and enlightenment for the champions. The Lich leaves a lasting impression on Luke. Sari faces her inner demons. Nyx gets a shock when she glimpses Delvin’s aura. Timoran goes hoarse. The Baron’s son, Stephen, demonstrates his power. Battles, monsters and surprises galore.
In the latest installment of the Legends of Windemere, our heroes are thrust into the heart of war and their fighting skills are put to the ultimate tests! We have all our heroes returning, Luke, Nyx, Sari, Delvin, Fizzle and Timoran as they fight the forces of evil. This time Trinity, the Lich, Stephen and our heroes are in a race against time to find a legendary artifact called the Compass Key! And if that isn't enough to keep our heroes busy, Sari is also missing! While looking for this item, they are also worried for her safety as they look for her and the artifact.
Sari may be out of the battles but she also is struggling with her own demons in her mind and as we all know, the criticisms, snide remarks of others and the whispered comments of our peers are nothing compared to the demons and criticisms that live inside our own heads. Well Sari is forced to face her most primal fears as they take on a life of their own and force her into her own personal hell!
For anyone who says that books are too "talky," and don't have enough action in them, this book is for you! All our heroes are in action almost non-stop! We have epic battles, one on one fights between characters and also fights between our heroes and the amazing mystical creatures that inhabit Windemere!
We also get to learn more about Luke's bond that he shares with the griffin Lucy and also what makes many of these characters tick and how they feel about each other. My favorite part of this book is toward the very end of the book where our heroes admit that individually they are powerful, but when they work together as a team, they can become an unstoppable force for good. If you're looking for something to compare that to so it makes sense in your mind's eye, think of the final battle of the Avengers movie when the camera gives us a 360 degree view of all the Avengers together and it symbolizes how they have finally come together and will fight together as a team for the greater good of the world. That's what the Champions of Windemere have realized at the end of this book, that teamwork will help them win their battles more effectively.
This series and it's characters have grown over these books and they have morphed into fully developed characters that make you eager to read about their newest adventures. If you liked the previous books, then you will love this latest book in the Legends of Windemere series.
