Matt is worried! Their relationship is in trouble. Cassie has been begging him to add role-play to their lovemaking, but the kind of role Cassie wants him to play leaves him cold. When he discovers her stash of erotic romance novels, he comes to suspect that what she really wants is dominance.
Matt takes Cassie away for the weekend to celebrate her birthday. She is disappointed that the ‘highlight’ of the weekend is to be a costume party. A costume party is not the kind of role-play she’s fantasized about. She is surprised when she realizes it will be a party for two and that Matt has actually taken her to a BDSM club.
Cassie agrees to be his ‘love slave’ for the weekend and promises to obey all her ‘Master’s’ commands. Matt is surprised at her enthusiasm and is turned on by her ready acceptance of his domination.
At last, he understands her desire to role-play and Matt indulges her fantasies, along with a few of his own. However, the weekend away has changed their relationship and has taken them in a direction he hadn’t foreseen. Now he’s wondering if they can survive the changes.
Glenda Horsfall was born and brought up in the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
From an early age she was an avid reader. She became engrossed in reading romance novels in her early teens and promised herself that one day she would sit down and write her own.
That dream has now been achieved with the publication of her first novel 'Playing for Keeps'. A tale of Domination and submission, the story is also a romance with a Happy Ever After ending!
Glenda now lives on the Fylde Coast of England with her own hero. She has a grown up son and three beautiful grand-daughters.
Having worked for many years as an Accountant she loves being able to let her creative imagination run wild as she creates romantic stories for you to enjoy.
Sex, more sex, kinky sex, domination and submission, anal sex, more sex, kinky sex. I imagine, you get the point. Ms. Horsfall does not leave much to the imagination, but that being said her book, "Playing for Keeps" kept me reading and interested throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and read it in one sitting.
How far would you go to spice up your love life? Would you reveal your darkest fantasies or would you continue to live in the shadow of who you really are? Playing For Keeps tells just that story.
Cassie and Matt have reached a cross-roads in their relationship. She wants Matt to push his sexual boundaries but will his reluctance to give Cassie what she wants cost him her heart?
After a disastrous first attempt at satisfying Cassie's needs, Matt takes things into his own hands and in doing so opens both himself and Cassie up to a world of new erotic experiences and challenges.
Matt suspects Cassie of having submissive tenancies but not in his wildest dreams did his expect to find what he did when he slowly peeled back her layers. A weekend unlike no other takes their lives in a totally new direction and one which will ultimately reveal the fascinating world of BDSM. Cassie has read about it but now is the time for her to live it!
This is ultimately a story of love between two people and what they must overcome to save their relationship from a slow and painful death by... sexual frustration!
This is the first, much awaited, book from Glenda Horsfall and one which will delight erotica readers worldwide. It's extremely hot, full of mind blowing orgasms and scenes which will melt your e-reader. It you love your erotic romance then you will love this story.
Glenda has nailed it on her first novel.. In Playing for Keeps the sex scenes are absolutely HOTTT!!!
Cassie and Matt have been dating for a while and are generally happy; except Cassie wants to spice things up in the bedroom and Matt wants no part of it. Matt wants to satisfy Cassie in every way possible so he plans a trip which Cassie is not so thrilled with what she believes is planned for her birthday trip away.
Cassie never dreamed that Matt would take her away to a BDSM club and she is thrilled that Matt is doing this for and is more than ready to do as her "Master" commands.
But warning be careful what you wish for; not all wishes have a happy ending... Or do they?
I highly recommend this book if you are interested in HOTTT Steamy Sex you will really enjoy this book
Holy crapola this book is an HOTT 5 stars. After reading this book you will need your husband or new batteries lol! Matt is worried is relationship is in trouble,Cassie wants him to role play in the bedroom but he's not comfortable with the roles she wants him to play. Cassie doesn't know how to tell Matt in so many words exactly what she wants. So to try to get a better understanding Matt takes some of her romance novels she's always talking about. So he thinks he's figured out what she needs but wants to find out for sure. So he takes her to a bdsm club and has her be his love slave. Will he finally figure out what Cassie needs or will he push to far? Warning this book has some hot, steamy sex scenes so if your not into that stay away but if you are then you definitely need to read this book!!!!! I will keep an eye out for more from this author. I definitely recommend this book!!!!
This story is captivating, endearing and steamy!!!
Cassie and Matt have been dating for a while. Cassie is trying to spice up their relationship but slightly embarrassed to ask for what she exactly wants. Matt feels silly trying out the role playing that Cassie keeps suggesting.
Instead of this becoming a bigger rift in thier relationship than it is, Matt decides to give things an open minded try. What happens is extraordinary!
Like I said it's a steamy book, not for the faint or vanilla of heart. Book does show some BDSM situations and POVs of realistic characters and mind sets.
This book reminds you of the meaning, be careful what you wish for ;)
Now this is an explicitly exciting read, good main characters with fitting secondary characters. Well paced, with well written examples in BDSM for the characters. This breathtaking read promises and delivers sensualism, eagerness, titillation, indulgence and fulfilment.
Cassie is looking to add some excitement to her relationship with boyfriend Matt. Communication appears to be a measure of difficulty between them, generating confusion and doubt in both Cassie and Matt for the future of their relationship. Cassie tries to initiate role-play without much success, although Matt does not understand Cassie’s desires, the thought of what Cassie is asking him leaves him a little cold. Matt considers her requests, he wants to fulfil her needs, he wants her to want him, but all he perceives it to be is abuse and humiliation.
Matt delves into the world BDSM and discovers not only a hidden side of himself but gets a greater understanding of Cassie’s real needs. Can Matt take Cassie to the level she desires? Matt must take a risk, and hope that what he has found will answer his need to understand Cassie and fulfil her cravings for a more meaningful relationship. He wants to claim her, make her his forever but has he gone too far?
Cassie wanted to spice up her love life with Matt. When she suggests role playing, Matt is less then enthusiastic about her ideas of spicing things up. Feeling like he is on the verge of losing her, Matt takes Cassie away for a weekend and shows her he can be something other then "vanilla" in the bedroom.

The premise of this book could have been so much more. The "scenes" that these two test out do not fit into what they were intended to be, well not in this day and age anyway. This book felt dated to me. There were a few decent sex scenes, but I just could not connect with most of this book. I had high hopes for this story as I could relate to wanting to spice things up, but it just fell short for me on the delivery.
It's a very short book, only took me a little over an hour to read, it might be for you, but it just did not work for me unfortunately.
**A gifted copy was received by the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review**
Recommended by a friend, I read this book in one sitting and was taken by surprise that this was a debut novel. From a new author, that's saying a lot. By the time I finished the book, I craved for more and wished Horsfall had more books on her shelf!
Back to the book...
Playing for Keeps is a book about communication and trust between partners. The chemistry between Matt and Cassie sizzled to new dimensions when Cassie spices up their sex life with role play. Although uncomfortable with the idea, Matt loves Cassie enough to try it over a special birthday weekend vacation.
Together they embark on a huge learning curve and explore the world of BDSM and the roles of Dom and Sub. Although the cover to the book is dark and mysterious, don't be misled. This is definitely a book about love and reaching out and exploring as a couple. Communication, Trust and truly Gifting oneself brings about immense pleasure -- THAT is why BDSM works for couples.
This book is well-crafted, and the love scenes are HOT AS HELL, so if you like explicit sex scenes with highly charged emotion, go get this book! Definitely up for the sophomore book when Horsfall gets to it!
I first read a short story from Glenda Horsfall in a book of short stores called Masquerade. I really enjoyed the Dom/sub theme in her short story which prompted me to buy this book.
Playing For Keeps explores the dynamics between a young couple as they experiment with role-playing in their relationship. It is not without some struggles as the couple explores Dom/sub role-playing. They are committed to making their relationship work during their sexual exploration. And yes, the sex is really hawt! Many first time sexual experiences are explored by the couple which adds to the hotness factor.
Ms. Horsfall's writing style flows wonderfully which makes this book a very enjoyable read. It was also a very realistic storyline, meaning it seamed like a new couple to a master/slave relationship would go through the same communication issues faced by our H/h. I recommend this book to readers who like role-playing, hawt sex and their bdsm on the light side. I will definitely read more from this author.
Cassie is a little unhappy with her sex life. She wants to inject a little bit of spice into her routine with role play, but this is not for Matt. The idea of playing shady characters, even if they are just make believe, doesn't sit well with him and he can't summon up the enthusiasm to play his part. Things are all looking pretty dreadful until he gets his hands on a book and discovers the tenets of BDSM.
From that moment forward, Matt is in charge and it's Cassie who is going to have the ride of her life, albeit kicking and screaming at first. Whilst the lifestyle is all new to her, she quickly settles into her role and begins to understand exactly what being a submissive will entail.
Thoughts: An erotic romance, cleverly told with wonderful flow and plenty of detail. The characters are very believable and life-like and I was chuckling along as Cassie recounted her thoughts.
For lovers of romance and erotica, this is sure to be hit. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Wow, now when my relationship gets a bit old and stale, we'd probably just go out for dinner. When Matt and Cassie's relationship has fallen a bit flat, well to her at least in the bedroom, Matt gives her a surprise to end all surprises. He books them into a BDSM club and while he's finding his inner Dom, she's learning she's got a submissive nature. The sex in this book was hot and steamy. There was plenty of hot sex, enough to have me screaming for the young toned man in a loin cloth to come fan me down with his palm leaf. The author does know how to write a great sex scene fortunately. Definitely this experience for Matt and Cassie was enlightening for them both and overall it was an enjoyable story. THEN I got to the end and found myself screaming again. What a way to end it. Hopefully the next book isn't too far off being published.
For this to be the first book by this author I must say that I am thoroughly pleased. I really enjoyed this book and I hated for it to end. I love it when a new author can come out and write a book that you have no choice but to love. I loved Matt and Cassie and the chemistry that they had. I loved the fact that although Matt never agrees with the way that Cassie wanted things eventually he got into it and decided that this is something that he would like to do full time. I also loved the fact that Matt took the time to see what it was that Cassie was reading and what was making her feel the way that she was. This was a book about looking at your relationship not for what it is but what it could be. I look forward to reading more from this wonderful author.
This is very good debut novel by an author with talent.
Matt attempts to spice up Cassie's love life and their relationship, by taking her away for a very unusual weekend. This is an explicit sexual novel but it is also filled with an emotional message. How far would a man go to please a woman? How far would a woman allow her man to go, in the bedroom.
This is the story of Cassie and Matt. Cassie wants to spice things up in the bedroom. Matt decides to take Cassie away to a bdsm club for a weekend. 1-click to read what happens.
This is a really steamy and hot read. If you enjoy bdsm stories then this is the one for you.
The first thing people should know about "Playing for Keeps" by Glenda Horsfall is that it does have erotica in it. This is not for young or readers who like things light. From the start it starts talking about sex and continues on the subject all the way through. I chose this book to review because I am trying to write a romance myself and I wanted to see how another author wrote about love making. The sex scenes in "Playing for Keeps" can be a little crude, using words that other romance authors might avoid. It is definitely fitting for Horsfall's book though. The subject matter of bdsm must be hard to write about. I'm not into it personally, but Horsfall makes the subject fascinating. I was so caught up in what the characters Matt and Cassie were going through that I didn't pay much attention to things like grammar, which I don't think there were any problems with in the book. The plot was great. I do think the relationship between Matt and Cassie could be a little more developed around the love part, yet it was really interesting to learn that a dominant in a relationship is all about the submissive's pleasure and not about asserting their control over someone else. The characters were definitely interesting and the setting, a bdsm club retreat, is really fascinating, though a place like that seems a little raunchy for my taste. Another criticism is that I was a little disappointed in the ending, I was hoping there might be a proposal, but what happens is still good.. If you are interested in hardcore sex with a little romance thrown in, I recommend you read this book.
This is not my usual read, that's not to say I didn't read fifty shades along with other curious readers. However, this is a very well written debut novel, for which I would like to congratulate Glenda Horsfall. This is a story that reinforces the importance of good communication in a relationship. Truth and honesty about the most intimate times in a couples life. It is quite an eye opener in terms of the sub/dom world and at times took me by surprise.
Holy hotness! When Cassie tries to add more spice in her relationship with Matt will she get more than she expected. I enjoyed how Matt took her interest to another level and it was steamy! This is only my first read by the author and it did not disappoint.
★✩★✩ 4- Be Careful What You Wish For ;) -Stars ~this review may contain minor spoilers~
Not only was the night going down the tubes, he had a feeling their relationship was going to bottom out fairly soon unless he did something to save it. He didn't want their relationship to end. He knew he could make her happy again if she just gave him the chance.
Matt and Cassie have been together for awhile now, they are young and in love but they've hit a few snags in their relationship. Cassie wants to spice things up in the bedroom, add a little role-playing and some dominance; only problem is, she's not really sure how to ask for exactly what she wants. Matt never thought they had any problems behind closed doors, but Cassie is obviously looking for more. Unfortunately for him, she seems to want things he's not sure he's able to give. After nicking some of her romance novels, he starts to get a better idea of what she's after and in a desperate attempt to save the relationship, he makes plans to take Cassie somewhere special for her birthday; a place he hopes to be able to provide what she's desperately seeking, even if she doesn't realize it. When Cassie realizes Matt's plans are not the costume party she'd originally thought but a BDSM club, she has to admit she's more than a little excited. But when Matt falls into the Dom role just a little too smoothly, she sees that he may just be enjoying himself more than either of them could have bargained for and Cassie could just be in way over her head.
she needed to explore her submissive tendencies and he needed to see how she would react to another dominant. Was she tru;y as submissive as he suspected, or, was she acting a part? Her reaction to the experience would help him to decide which way their relationship would progress.
I do love a story of a hott-as-hell sexual awakening and that is exactly what we get here, but I have to admit to some frustration where Cassie was concerned. She was the one who pushed Matt to spice things up, and she was extremely adamant about it, bit when he gives her exactly what she was looking for, she got pissed at him for taking it too seriously. And the girl just refused to speak her mind, how is a guy to know how to please the woman he loves if she doesn't talk to him about what she wants, what she enjoys, and expresses herself a little more clearly. Matt was the one who won me over in this book; that man was on a mission and nothing was gonna stop him from getting what he was after. He clearly loved Cassie and would do anything for her, he fell into the role of Dom absolutely perfectly, and he showed extreme patience and persistence when it came to guiding Cassie towards what she was really after. There was definitely some crazy hott sex taking place in this book and a lot of it, but it didn't take away from the growth that these characters had to go through to get what they wanted and find themselves in a better place. If you're looking for a hott, quick read with a little bit of meat to it, than this is for you. I'm very much looking forward to what this series brings us next.
“I will take what belongs to me and give you the pleasure that you obviously need. You belong to me now, Cassie. No other man will be allowed to claim what's mine.”

“I will take what belongs to me and give you the pleasure that you obviously need. You belong to me now, Cassie. No other man will be allowed to claim what's mine.”
Excuse me while I turn the fan on here, this book was sizzling hot. What do you do when the woman you love comes to you and says in so many words she is sexually frustrated? As a man this could be a huge blow to the ego. Would you try to figure out what she needs, even when her suggestions of role playing is absurd and you can’t see any way possible you can do it? Well Matt did what any man in love with his woman would do; he found her stash of romance novels and researched. Cassie struggled to not only voice her desires but she needed to figure out what she wanted from Matt. As all women know, what you read in a fictional book isn’t always real or the answer, it was all she had to go on. When her idea was shut down by Matt I felt she just resigned herself to a horrible sex life and would wait to see if this was the beginning of the end for them. Little did she know what Matt had planned for them. Taking her to a BDSM club he was going on the hunch he had, that she really was a submissive, but for this to work he had to find his inner Dom. The author did a wonderful job as allowing us to not only watch but understand the emotional turmoil these two felt as they stepped into an arena that up until now was purely a fantasy. The love between the two characters was very strong and you could tell that each was willing to not only trust the other but risk their preconceived ideas to make the other happy. I was able to read this book rather quickly and I did enjoy all of it. I rarely discuss the sex scenes in my reviews but this one was different. It was a vital part to the plot as it was the one thing tearing them apart and by the end of the book it had become the major aspect of their relationship, second only to the real love they had for each other. It gives the reader a chance to see the benefits of BDSM not only as fun and entertaining but as a tool to help each grow individually and as a couple. The amount of trust and commitment they had for each other fueled this adventure, but the reader also showed the amount of embarrassment and convictions they had to put aside to make this happen. I say if you are looking for a hot steamy and very sexy read for an afternoon with a great couple who are more than a dom and sub in the world of BDSM you will have a winner with this book.

4 Star Review Playing For Keeps by Glenda Horsfall
I received this ARC for an honest review.
This is new author Glenda Horsfall’s debut novel. Cassie and Matt have been together for quite a while. In fact Matt is considering proposing, but there is one small problem. Cassie wants to introduce role play into their relationship while Matt sees no reason to and is strongly opposed to the roles Cassie wants him to play. This is causing issues between the two of them as they both struggle to understand each other’s feelings. I felt Cassie was selfish and immature. Matt on the other hand, decides to do some investigating and takes several of the books that Cassie loves to read and see if he can work out what she is missing from their relationship. What he reads, leads him to believe that Cassie may be submissive, to what degree he does not know. In an effort to determine if he is correct, Matt decides to surprise Cassie and take her away for a weekend to celebrate her birthday. Unbeknownst to Cassie he takes her to a BDSM club. What follows is hot, steamy, sizzling sex. There are BDSM scenes which I enjoyed, although I have to say that I found Matt's nearly 360 degree turn around (embracing role play) hard to believe. That being said, their experience puts Cassie and Matt onto a path of self - discovery. I really enjoyed the book and although I thought it was a bit rushed, I am presuming that there will be a follow up. I congratulate Ms. Horsfall on her debut and look forward to reading her next book.
Playing for Keeps is a book about communicating what you want in a relationship. Cassie knows she loves Matt but wants to spice love life up with role plays. Matt isn't comfortable with the games Cassie wants because they make him feel sleazy.
Matt loves Cassie and only ever wants her to be happy. So he comes up with a special birthday surprise for her.
Together they discover the world of BDSM and take on the roles of Dom and Sub. Matt has a feeling Cassie has always wanted to be submissive but has always need to be in control. The weekend away becomes a learning curve for both of them and communication plays a big roll.
I enjoyed the journey into this world of BDSM with Cassie and Matt and found that Communication, Trust and truly giving yourself to the one you love can bring pleasure beyond belief.
Only those who are truly committed to one another can find this bond. Neither Cassie or Matt wanted to loose each other and were willing to take this journey together and found how much they truly loved one another. I gave this book 4 stars.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book to review! Wow!! This is amazing! I only wish it was longer! I loved the story, the characters, and of course the hot hot hot scenes!! I loved noticing the change in Matt, or Master, during this book! It's interesting that it's mostly about Cassie finding what she really wants, and about her desires, yet I think a great deal of it was Matt discovering 'the real him' too! His character really came alive throughout the book, along with Cassies! I cannot wait to read more from this very talented author!
The premise of this book could have been so much more. The "scenes" that these two test out do not fit into what they were intended to be, well not in this day and age anyway. It's a very short book, only took me a little over an hour to read, it might be for you, but it just did not work for me unfortunately.
I thought it was a great book to open your eyes to the sub/dom world, especially if your new to it. The details were not lacking when it came to the more hot/erotic scenes that will have your juices flowing. I love how Cassie's character realizes she likes being a sub, but only for Matt. That there was more to role-playing that she wanted but couldn't express because she's shy. Matt who was against role-playing, as he didn't want to be the sleaze-ball, ended up being very open to the dom role for Cassie & his relationship. A must read!
