This was so cute! I loved the idea of aliens coming to earth to find their mates, and Kiran was adorable. Thea is a very strong and independent fmc, and the way Kiran got her to open up to the possibly of a relationship was super spicy and super fun! The Willy plant was cracking me up the whole time, and the lore behind this kind of alien was really cool to learn about.
This was a super cute, spicy, and quick alien romance, and I definitely recommend!

Thank you to Meghan Monarch and Sunny Babe PR for sending me a copy for an honest review. 💖
I do not even know where to start with this! erm.... what have I just read!!
the concept behind this was really good.. the story was ok, spice better, cute concept and really sweet story .. I just have no words ...
think it's the whole alien and well I can't put it onto words ... not my kind of book at all. .will I reccomend no.. but I did find myself laughing till I cried in so many places!! especially with willy!... which saved it for me a little and gave it the extra star.
Rooting for Kiran was a completely new type of read for me being an alien romance and it was so much fun!
In this world, aliens and humans coexist peacefully, and the males of the alien species are perfectly designed for female human satisifaction making for some toe-curling spicy scenes! The banter between Kiran and Thea is perfect, and the book has just the right amount of tongue in cheek humour.
It starts off with a meet-cute, and is very character driven. Kiran is very sweet and balances out Thea's fierce independency. They really are the perfect match, and it was enjoyable seeing the romance develop between them.
I haven't read any other alien/monster romance novels, so if you are new to this genre like I was, I'd recommend this as a good introductary read.
Kiran is the shop owner of a greenhouse. He had his Talahecksiya sitting out in the store looking for his mate and he has finally found her. Thea is celebrating Galentine’s day with her bestie. They go to the greenhouse for flowers when she find one in the alien section. That one plant sets off her fate in more ways than she could every image.
This book focuses on the brewing relationship between Kiran and Thea. In this book an alien species came to Earth in the year 2020, and these aliens are searching for their human mates who they’re destined to be with forever. They find their mate when they choose their plant, and when Thea is drawn to Kiran’s plant he knows she is the one. However, Thea is an independent woman who is only looking for a casual hookup. Can Kiran convince her they’re fated to be together, or will he end up alone forever?
I’m not one to pick books with a lot of spice, so this novel was a bit much for me. I don’t mind a bit of spice, but the entire book was spice which meant you are left with little else to read. That being said, the writing was good and the relationship between the two main characters was easy to get along with. The book was also short, so it keeps you focused and you can get it read in one sitting.
The concept of an alien looking for their forever mate felt unique and I liked the concept of a plant attracting the person you’re destined to be with (even if the idea of a penis plant felt a bit crass for me).
Overall a good book for anyone who loves spicy romance books, but the spice level was a bit much for my personal taste.
Let me start off by saying this book is primarily just spice with little storyline. Which is nice because it gives me a break in between my other longer reads. It’s steamy but entertaining and just what I needed!
This was my first alien romance/fated mates story and I think I found a new interest. The idea of aliens having a humanoid form to fit into the human world was interesting. I usually don’t read things that are set in current times but this one made me laugh out loud at points.
Kiran was the absolute sweetest. His connection to plants made him even more attractive and I won’t even get into his true alien form. The ridges that formed on his tongue, man Thea is a lucky girl. Even with her high independent self.
The spice was definitely spicing that’s for sure. It was hot but very tamed but it’s was refreshing compared to what I’m use to reading. It was hot and I was absorbing every minute of it. There were the heat kicked up a notch and I’m definitely not complaining!
I’m definitely going to be checking out more books by Meghan!
This was a cute read. I really liked the characters. They had a strong attraction and good chemistry from the start.
This was a short read full of steam. I loved how they didn't waste anytime when it came to hooking up. They knew they had chemistry, they found each other attractive and they did something about it.
The fmc was very independent which I loveee. She had a few walls up but sweet Kiran broke them down easily.
This was my intro to this author and it's most certainly not gonna be the last. I enjoyed this one a lot. I was rooting for the characters from the start to get their hea and it didn't disappoint.
This was actually really good I just wish it was an additional 200 pages! The plot (there was one.. you just had to squint) was cute. I loved our MMC — he had golden retriever energy and ran his own plant shop. Our FMC had quite a bit of room to improve but she started off strong. With an additional couple hundred pages, this could have been 5 stars!
Rooting For Kiran is a super cute super quick read that has all the smut and a cute golden retriever Alien mmc named Kiran 😍 this book is heavy on the smut but it's pretty vanilla for me if your wanting a quick palette cleanser between books/series this is it.
This was such a cute, fun, quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed myself the whole time! And the spice? SPICY 🌶️
The main characters didn’t waste any time hooking up, and while I usually love a slow burn, I actually didn’t mind it here. Their banter had me laughing out loud, especially the parts about the plant Willy 🍆😂.
If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, steamy read, this one’s definitely it!
Thank you Sunny Babe PR and Meghan Monarch for sending me a copy of this book!
This was really cute but cringe AF and reads like a first attempt so I skimmed some. That said, it takes a hella lot to put yourself out there and the author definitely has talent, it just needs a little refining from a good dev editor or beta team.
So, I went to a book convention and the author was there and I pre ordered. I bought this book because it isn’t something I usually read and it sounded soooo good. So I took a chance and I absolutely lovvvved it! The humor, story, spice (most definitely), and just the overall story was perfection!
I know you’ll enjoy it too and I’m rooting for you!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This in no way impacted my opinions.
‘Rooting for Kiran’ is a charming little meet-cute romance that leans heavily into the feel-good, low-stakes vibe. It’s the kind of story that promises a warm smile and a light flutter in the heart without ever dipping too deep into angst or drama. With a sprinkle of spice and a garden's worth of sweetness, it’s a pleasant, easy read that’s perfect for when you just want something short and satisfying.
Plot: ★★★★☆ The plot is simple, sweet, and clearly built for comfort. It follows a classic romcom trajectory with just enough quirks and flavour to give it personality. While it doesn’t necessarily reinvent the wheel, it doesn’t need to – it knows exactly what it is and delivers accordingly. The romance moves quickly (as is typical in shorter formats), but the pacing works for the tone of the book. There’s a light tension, a satisfying arc, and a cute conclusion that ties everything up with a bow.
Character: ★★★☆☆ The characters are likeable, but they don’t get quite enough page time to truly bloom. Thea especially feels like someone I wanted to get to know more – her personality is hinted at, and I could see glimmers of something deeper, but the novella format didn’t allow for that extra depth. Kiran is sweet and supportive, and the pair's chemistry works for the story’s tone, but again, I would have loved more development and exploration. It felt like we were just getting started when the story ended.
Setting: ★★★☆☆ The setting does what it needs to – acts as a backdrop to the romance – but it’s not particularly vivid or memorable. There are some nice touches that bring in nature and gardening themes, which suit the story’s overall vibe really well, but there’s not much in the way of world-building or sensory richness. It felt like a cozy small-town romance without the usual small-town detail. That said, the simplicity also means the focus stays on the couple, which may be exactly what some readers are after.
Engagement: ★★★★☆ This book kept me reading straight through in one sitting. It’s a very easy story to fall into, especially if you’re looking for something comforting and a little whimsical. The pacing is tight, there aren’t any lulls, and it delivers on all the emotional beats it promises. I did find myself wishing there was more to sink my teeth into—but for what it is, it’s consistently engaging.
Readability: ★★★★☆ The writing style is smooth and accessible. It doesn’t get bogged down in unnecessary detail or flowery language, and the dialogue feels natural and light. It’s clearly written with a gentle, fun energy that makes it perfect for a palate cleanser read. If you’re looking for something short, sweet, and easy to devour, this absolutely hits the mark.
Enjoyment: ★★★★☆ I had a really enjoyable time reading this. While it’s not going to top my favourites list, it was exactly what I needed in the moment – a soft, flirty, and slightly spicy romantic escape. It made me smile, and I finished it feeling lighter and a little more cheerful. Sometimes that’s exactly the kind of story you need. I do think it would benefit from a longer format or series expansion, though – I’d happily read more stories in this world or with these characters.
‘Rooting for Kiran’ is a delightful little meet-cute romance that feels like a warm hug in story form. While the brevity of the book means some aspects – particularly character development and setting – don’t quite reach their full potential, it more than makes up for it in charm, tone, and pacing. If you’re in the mood for something quick, uplifting, and undeniably sweet (with a dash of heat), this is a great choice. It’s the literary equivalent of a cinnamon roll: cozy, comforting, and just indulgent enough to keep you coming back for another bite.
With the arrival of peaceful aliens on Earth 5 years ago, mixed reactions occurred within the human populace, some people being frightened and some not reacting at all. Living among humans, the shapeshifters, known as the Dyv’i, appear human until they find their mate. Then only their mate can see their true form. Thea and her friend Wren are visiting a greenhouse as they look for flowers on what is now called Galentine’s Day. Thea thinks it is foolish to waste the money, but she is there for her friend. Then a strange-looking plant in the alien section catches her eye. When an alien startles her, she accidentally knocks off a piece of the plant. He takes the broken piece, holds it against the spot it broke off from, and a glow from his fingers repairs the plant. Then suddenly she is pushed by her laughing friend into the arms of the handsome alien. Her scent overwhelms him. And the plant she is now holding would only ever attract one person -- his mate, destined to be his.
Thea’s plant doesn’t look healthy the next week, getting pale along the edges, even though she is following the unusual instructions. Kira had warned her that the plant may not do well since she had broken off that piece. So she decided to go back to the greenhouse personally to see if he could fix it. But seeing his powerful body shirtless as he picks up heavy bags of soil has her drooling. And as he walks up to her, she moans and offers him one night together. The problem that will cause is that she is his mate, so when they are together that way, she will see his true alien form and she must be willing to keep that a secret. But with her offering only one night, she is not ready for commitment. What choice will he make? He doesn’t want to lose his mate, but he can’t risk her revealing the alien secret. Can he find a way to change her mind to accept him as her mate forever?
Rooting for Kiran by Meghan Monarch is an alien romance novella. This is book 1 in the Mate-Cute series and I absolutely loved it!!!
“....mostly millennials—weren’t fazed one bit and kept going to work like normal f*cking human beings.” ~ Meghan Monarch
This book follows Thea. She is a single, hyper-independent female, who is human. She is dragged along to a greenhouse when she comes upon a pant named Talahecksiya. Thea knew this was the plant she is taking home. The book also follow Kiran. He is alien, who came to earth looing for his mate. He has a special plant in his shop, It is one of a kind. This plant attract his fated mate.
This book was so cute and funny. It is a short novel and I loved the story line. I was hooked from the prologue. It made me laugh so hard and I fell in love with the Characters. Willy was the best, he came with caring instructions and Thea followed them to the tee 🤣! Kiran and Thea are so cute together. I love how this was a positive alien invention story. This book is full of alien spice. One in of my favourite parts was the declaration. “For my fellow single, hyper-independents… I’m rooting for you." I hope we get a follow up story about them.
This book contains tropes such as Friendly Alien Invasion, fated mates, one night stand, soulmates and shape shifting.
"In this series, you’ll encounter novellas filled with alien romance, out-of-this-world spice, and lots of surprises. Will your fated mate be from another planet?" ~ Meghan Monarch
Thank you Sunny Babe PR and Meghan Monarch for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thea (h) isn’t looking for love. She’s too busy juggling work, friendships, and the general chaos of life to bother with romance. But when a last-minute Valentine’s Day flower run leads to a run-in—literally—with Kiran (H), a towering, brooding alien who owns the local greenhouse, things start to get complicated. Kiran has waited years for his fated mate to walk into his life, and the moment Thea picks up a certain alien plant, he knows it’s her. The only problem? She has no idea that fate—or Kiran—has plans for her. What starts as undeniable attraction quickly escalates into something neither of them expected. But when Thea learns the truth about the strange plant she brought home—and what it means for her future—she’s left questioning whether any of this was real. Kiran is determined to prove to Thea that their connection is more than destiny—it’s a choice. But Thea isn’t ready to give up her independence, and Kiran isn’t willing to let go of the only woman he’ll ever love. With time running out, Thea has to decide if she's ready to take root in Kiran's love. A steamy, grumpy sunshine, sci-fi romance, exploring love, connection, passion, fate and free will, and an alien with a serious green abilities.
Thank you Sunny Babe PR and Meghan Monarch for this ARC!!
Rooting for Kiran is a delightful and steamy novella that offers a lighthearted escape into a world of alien romance. Meghan Monarch crafts a unique and engaging premise with the Dyv’i invasion and the concept of fated mates.
There are so many enjoyable aspects I liked! The story moves at a brisk pace, keeping you hooked from beginning to end. The MCs are interesting and likable allowing the intimacy to develop and the scenes are well-written and undeniably spicy between them! Monarch creates a believable and intriguing unique world where aliens have integrated into human society. The book is filled with laugh-out-loud moments, particularly Thea’s internal monologues and interactions with Wren.
Overall, Rooting for Kiran is a highly enjoyable and entertaining read that I would recommend to fans of alien romance and steamy novellas. The book’s unique premise, engaging plot, and spicy scenes make it a worthwhile escape while exploring themes of fate, destiny, and taking chances on love, even when it seems inconvenient.
If you like: 👽 Alien Romance 🪴 Fated Mates 🍃 One Night Stand 👽 Low Stakes 🪴 Novella 🍃 Dual POV …Then this is a book for you!!
Thea, the female human lead, is accompanying a friend shopping for flowers. Preferring a pot plant that won’t die, as a bouquet will, she selects a funny-looking alien one.
Kiran, the male plant humanoid alien lead, is shocked the plant whose pheromones are supposed to attract his mate has been selected and he desperately tries to connect with Thea. Thea is a fiercely independent person with no interest in a relationship, though she could potentially be interested in a one night stand. Can Kiran convince her that she wants more than that with him?
This novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, sci fi, fated mates romance. I appreciated Thea’s independence and enjoyed seeing her realise that she could make space for a partner in her life. I enjoyed Kiran’s patience, as well as his joy in having identified his mate. I enjoyed his alien assets and that they were specifically for his mate. I enjoyed the steamy scenes and chuckled at the interventions from third parties to assist them.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When Thea walks into the greenhouse owned by the alien Kiran on Valentine's Day with her best friend and accidentally bumps into a weird looking alien plant, little does she know that she had walked into the fate that had been waiting for her!
Kiran is a gorgeous, sweet, and amazing alien-man, and Thea is a strong, hyper-independent, 'i don't need a man' fmc. They had out of this world chemistry. THE SPICE WAS SPICING! I had never read alien smut before but oh my god, Meghan Monarch does a phenomenal job at writing the spicy scenes🤭 I loved the world building, and the way everything fell into place. The epilogue was such a sweet addition and I was 100% rooting for Kiran throughout the entire book. Special shoutout to Colson and his girlfriend - they were so adorable and played a part in Kiran and Thea's relationship progressing🥹
It's so exciting that this is a series and I definitely will be looking forward to other installments!
Thank you so much to SunnyBabe PR and Megan Monarch for providing me with an ARC! It's been an honour to have read and reviewed this book <3
When her bestie drags her to a greenhouse for a Galentine's Day bouquet, Thea ends up leaving with an unusally shaped alien plant. Kiran, the hot alien running the greenhouse, promises to help if she has any questions about her new addition, but her only question for him is, "Your place or mine?" The two have an explosive one night stand, but Kiran can't get her out of his head. It doesn't help that she picked out the one plant destined to draw in his fated mate. In a world where fate and destiny intertwine, Kiran has his work cut out for him with winning over his independent little mate.
Short, sweet, and deliciously spicy, this little novella was dessert before dinner. Kiran and Thea are fated mates, but only he understands the significance of the alien concept. She's fiesty and headstrong, but I don't think he'd want her any other way. I loved his secret true form that only his mate gets to see, and it's almost like those anatomy changes were designed with Thea in mind. Their one night stand to lovers dynamic was fun to watch play out, and I'm all for both of their supportive friends pushing Kiran and Thea together. This series is off to a great start!

A huge thank you to @sunnybabepr and @authormeghanmonarch for the ARC copy!
Chose to read this book purely because it had my name on the cover. Then I saw it was Aelin smut, so of course I was curious.
As I’m writing this, I’m genuinely struggling to phrase my thoughts because my brain is trying to cohesively piece together the sheer weirdness of this book. The smut was oddly described, cringe and painfully repetitive. It honestly felt like the FMC was getting aroused over the slightest things, like the MMC simply breathing.
The fact that this woman, who is in her mid thirties, uses words like “willy” and enjoys being called “sweet girl” is just icky to me. And don’t even get me started on the so called “penis plant”. I genuinely had no idea what was actually happening half the time.
There was also basically no relationship development. All we know is that the woman is burned out from “working hard”, which we barely even see, and then all of a sudden she’s having a full on sex marathon with an Aelin because of a magic plant, and then the book just ends.

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a cute romance. I loved both Kiran and Thea. This author wrote a fun and unique way for Kiran to find his destined mate- a plant laced with a scent that would only draw in the female meant for him... not to mention it has a phallic-shaped "arm" that just so happens to be an exact replica of Kiran's peen and he thinks of it as his mate-trap plant. I had to stop reading for a minute because I was laughing so hard! I won't even go into details about it's care. That aspect of the story is reason enough to pick up this book.
Kiran was sneaky devising a way to get Thea to go back to see him. These two were really cute together, and Kiran's point of view could be quite amusing. I liked the way their relationship developed. Thea's BFF Wren was fun and cheery. I also appreciated the pronunciation guide at the beginning of the book. This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be reading more. 4 stars.
This book is crazy spicy and so. much. fun! Honestly, it was my first alien romance, and what a great introduction to the genre. Kiran is a delicious MMC. Not only is he huge, gorgeous, (and green), he's also a total cinnamon roll. And that little but of naiveté, of not knowing exactly how to woo a modern human woman, is the icing!
Thea is relatable and likable as an independent woman and I love how confident she is in the bedroom. The side characters are charming (can Wren have her own book, pretty please?) and the different alien subspecies interesting. I'm excited that Meghan plans to make a series of this world.
But let's talk about the real star of this show: Willy! Omg, I love him! And all the puns and tongue-in-cheek humor. There were many times while reading that I laughed out loud.
This book is exactly as advertised, so if you want a quick, fun read that will have you blushing, giggling, and smiling, I highly recommend it!
Set during a time on Earth after a peaceful race of nature loving aliens have become part of the Earth’s population, this low-stakes meet-cute novella has a super independent single human woman meeting a gorgeous, muscular and sweet plant store owner that is also an alien. After she buys a plant from him designed to attract his mate, sparks fly and spice sizzles. But will she open her heart and root for Kiran?
This novella was very cute and very spicy. I love the concept of the story and actually wish that there was more character development. I wish I knew more about Kiran and his culture before coming to Earth and more about his people. The characters were likable at surface level, and the story was for sure cute and kept me turning the pages, there just wasn’t a lot of depth to the story. I appreciated the humor off and on, and is definitely a quick and dirty intro to monster/alien romance and erotica.
I am looking forward to more books in this series from this author for sure!
If you’re looking for a super spicy, rom-com alien romance novella, this is the one. I read this in between books of a darker genre. It was the perfect little mood lifter!
🌱 high spice 🌱 fated mates 🌱 one night stand 🌱 friendly alien plant daddy MMC 🌱 strong & independent FMC
Kiran is a sweet, friendly alien who owns a plant meant to attract his mate. Thea is super independent and set in her ways of single living when she meets Kiran by chance on a Galentine’s trip to his greenhouse. There’s instant attraction & a one night stand that leads to an unconventional chance at love. The story is short and sweet while still packing in enough backstory/world building to make sense! This is my first alien romance read, but I found the details really unique and creative.. especially the spicy details lol. I loved the main characters, but if I had to pick my favorite, it would be Willy— the 🍆 plant 😂 I was 100% rooting for Kiran and I’ll 100% be reading the next in the series… hoping for Thea’s friend to find herself an alien man next👽🛸
OMG, this was such a goofy ass book. I loved it. At first I wasn’t sure about the writing but omg it grew on me and omg i loved it. Like I was gasping and laughing and like I was having a brilliant time. I read this in like an hour and a half, it was quick as hell with only 129 pages. This book was hilarious, it was so stupid and like trashy but not like bad trashy at all. Like the writing and plot and stuff was great, but trashy in like the best way possibly, you know. Like you lot nee to read this to understand how stupidly good this was. And like Meghan, girly, imma need more. AND OMFG, THIS MAN HOT. WHY AM I FINDING AN PLANT ALIEN WHO GREEN, AND HAS ROOTS AND LEAVES COING OUT HIS HAIR HOT. AND OMG WHENEVER HE CALLED HER SWEET GIRL I JUST MELTED. AND LIKE THE DIRTY TALK!!!!! SO STUPID BUT SO GOOD.
