Some spells are too literal
While her grandmother’s away with the rest of the coven, Genevieve casts a stolen spell in the hopes she can kill the crush her best friend has on her. But trying to put him back in the “friend zone” is more deadly than she anticipated. When he lashes out and she realizes he was never her friend in the first place, she finds out why the spell she took was in the book bound with black pages. The old farmhouse is haunted, and the beautiful ghost is deadly. She will happily kill her friend’s crush... and anyone else who wants to hurt Genevieve too.

Where is my hot vengeful poltergeist girlfriend? I don’t know how she does it, but Dalia can make me soooooo invested in the characters and the plot in a novella length book. Genevieve made some questionable choices in dealing with… well pretty much everything, but I gotta give her props for going after what she wanted. Julia was feminine rage incarnate and supportive AF while still being scary AF. I loved them both.

I love the way that this book intersects with Hallowed Grounds. It’s really fun that they both happen at the same time with different stories and plot but you can see bits of what’s happening in the other story.
This one is also a great Halloween read. A spell/seance turned soul searching in Hell. I enjoyed the romance and the spice. I also really liked the dynamic that the other friend brought to the the story.
