A dead teacher. A scandalous secret. And a PI who’s way too caffeinated to quit.
Being a private investigator—and a ghost whisperer—means juggling the dead, the murderous, and an espresso addiction I refuse to acknowledge.
When the ghost of schoolteacher Sandra Greaves crashes my morning coffee, she’s not here for small talk—she needs me to find her killer. Problem is, her memory is patchy at best, and the only thing she’s sure of? Someone wanted her silenced.
The trail leads straight to shady school financials, questionable payouts, and a scandal involving an angry parent and a morally bankrupt school board member. Now I’m knee-deep in hush money, buried secrets, and motives worth killing for.
Meanwhile, my smokin’-hot husband is trying (and failing) to keep me out of trouble, Thor, the talking cat, won’t shut up about his diet, and Bandit, my cereal-stealing raccoon, is plotting her next snack heist.
But someone out there thinks I’m getting too close to the truth—and they’ll do anything to keep it buried.
Join Audrey Fitzgerald in Ghost and Tell, a paranormal cozy mystery featuring a talking cat, a mischievous raccoon, a ghost with unfinished business, and a murder to solve!
This is book ten in The Ghost Detective series. As with the nine books before it, this book immediately grabbed my interest and held it throughout. Honestly, this series gets better and better with each book.
This time, Audrey is called upon to help a school teacher who’s been murdered. As usually happens with newly deceased spirits, the woman cannot remember who killed her or why they did it. All she knows is that she was at school, alone, grading papers. Audrey, with her ghost friend Ben, set out to delve into what actually happened. Of course, Audrey's new husband Kade is also involved.
I love the cast of characters in this book. They’re adorable and believable, save for the paranormal aspects. I love the animals, Thor and Bandit. They add both warmth and humor to an already wonderful storyline.
I highly recommend this book, but suggest starting the series at the beginning to truly appreciate it. I’m eager for the next installment in this series.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect in this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
I have missed awkward, clumsy, smart and determined PI Audrey Fitzgerald. Being able to see and communicate with ghosts is a blessing to the deceased but can be quite stressful for Fitz. When a woman appears after being murdered, she comes to Audrey for help in finding her killer. But with the victim’s memory quite hazy, she is not much help to Audrey or her husband Kade a detective. It will be up to Audrey and Kade to find the killer and help this ghost “move on.” This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
I love this series, so much fun. Audrey can see ghosts and usually the newly departed ghost that come to her to help found out what happened to them. This is no different Sandra was killed at the school she work at. She shows up to Audrey's house for help so with the help of her cop husband Kade and her ghost best friend Ben, they will figure it out.
As Always, Jane Hinchey has done it again! Another absolutely fantastic book in the ghost detective series! This time Audrey and Kade are finally married and working together to solve a murder case. With her usual bad of characters by her side (aka, her snarky cat who can’t get enough kibble, her thieving pet raccoon, and her very best friend - who just happens to be a ghost himself) what trouble could she possibly get into this time?? I will include one spoiler/ TW that I feel some may need to know before reading this book. I try to not include many spoilers, but I felt this was impotent more as a possible trigger warning. This book - Being one centered around a PI, of course the risk is always there - is heavily centralized around cheating and infidelity. While not your common TW, I know that for some it can be one. So I felt it important to include it in my review. I will also say that this book end on a MAJOR cliffhanger!!! How could you Jane?!?! Lol. But I absolutely cannot wait for the next book to come out now!! And that was even before the cliffhanger!! Lol
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It’s been a while since I’ve been in this universe, and I really, really missed Audrey. She’s such fun, has a devil-may-care attitude, and she’s very tenacious…and a very bad case of self-preservation. LOL! Anyway, she’s back with a case of a murdered teacher, and she has many pieces but can’t put them together right. It was a fun ride to the answer, and even though I figured it out after a while, I was totally hooked through the whole book. However, with the end, I was not happy at all because now I’ll have to wait. LOL! A wonderful addition to the series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
This is the 10th book in a fantastic paranormal series that keeps you engaged from the very beginning with great characters and a really good story line. In this one, when Audrey awakens and goes into the kitchen, she sees a ghost who wants her help because she doesn't know why or what happened to her. Her husband, Kade knows of her abilities to talk with not only ghosts, but her talking cat, Thor who is smart but always concerned about when he is going to eat, and Bandit, her pet racoon who also talks. In this case, while the ghost, Sandra, tells Audrey she's a teacher, Kade gets a call to come to a murder site at the school since there is a murder. So especially in this story, PI Audrey and Kade both work to solve the murder. With so many twists and turns and with the help of Audrey's ghost best friend, Ben can she find the answers before she becomes a victim herself? This is a smooth flowing, totally entertaining paranormal read with a very surprising ending! I not only highly recommend this book, but I recommend the entire series and can't wait for more. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is one of my favorite series to read and it was great to finally have another book released!!! Audrey and Kade are settling into marriage. Just as Kade gets the call to investigate a murder, the ghost of a female school teacher shows up. The ghost is not very helpful at remembering what happened to her and Audrey ends up calling Ben in to help out by doing his “thing” with electronics to help the case along. There are plenty of suspects and a lot of twists and turns. I had no idea who the culprit was until it was revealed at the end. The adorable Bandit and Thor are still around causing mayhem and chaos. Audrey is still as clumsy and ever (I do so relate to her). There is an absolute shocking twist at the end. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
No matter my mood or the state of life this series brings joy to my soul :)
It fun, quirky with a great cast of characters (especially Bandit and Thor) and lots of mystery and suspense. Settling into married life is wonderful when you have a sexy hubby and a good business. The problem is dead people dropping in at unknown times. LOL! Another murder mystery that has you guessing on who done it, a raccoon that thieves food from the pantry and a grumpy cat who is always complaining of hunger and that's not including the ghost of a murdered school teacher who needs help. I feel that each story in this series is original and I'm always waiting for the next. This time the author left us with a short evil tease on what is to come. Authors can be so mean but soooo good! Highly recommend this whole series!!!!
I've enjoyed this series so far, though, as with any long series, some books aren't quite up to the level of others and can also get predictable. Ghost And Tell is not one of those stories. This is actually one of the best books in the series. It's not predictable, the pacing is great and there's enough suspects and motives to where it keeps you guessing, while not being overwhelming. The only minor criticism I can see is that the character Ben acted a little different than usual in a couple of spots, which felt out of character. It wasn't a big deal though, it was just something I noticed that others may not. Forewarning: the book ends on a cliffhanger this time. Overall, this was a great story and I look forward to reading the next book.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book, gifted to me by the author with no obligation.
Ghost and Tell is the tenth book in the Ghost Detective series and yet again Hinchey delivers a rollicking great book. If you loved the adventures to date of the accident-prone private detective Audrey Fitzgerald, her long-suffering boyfriend, now husband, Captain Cowboy Hotpants Aka Detective Kade Galloway, Thor the talking cat who is convinced he doesn’t need to be on a diet, Bandit the irascible racoon, Ben the ghostly best friend and the very gorgeous neighbour Seb, then you can’t fail to love this book. And if you aren’t familiar with the Ghost series, then do yourself a favour and get onboard, you won’t be disappointed. Murdered teachers, secret liaisons, twists and turns a plenty, and an ending that will send shockwaves through you, what’s not to love. A five star read from me.
Ghost and Tell is book #10 in the Ghost Detective series by Jane Hinchey.
It was great to have Audrey, Kade, Ben, Thor, and Bandit back. Audrey’s day start off with an unknown ghost in her kitchen as she fought with the coffeemaker. I like how Audrey is able to work alongside Kade at times during the investigation. Bandit is adorable and provides humor with her pantry raiding. I love her “Mom, mom, mom” calls. Thor is his hungry, curmudgeonly self. This was a complex case with a lot going on and several suspects. I guessed the correct guilty party but then let the twists and turns change my mind. I can’t wait for the next book!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It is no secret that I love this series. We have a heroine who is simply a delight at a time when most heroines are all snark and mean on the outside with a good heart underneath (theoretically). Audrey is a charming, intelligent (if somewhat clumsy) young woman whom I wouldn't mind being friends with. And, off course, Kade is absolutely perfect. I have always appreciated that the hot cop boyfriend/husband doesn't expend pages of energy on "Keep out of police business" as is the case in so many cozy mysteries. That sort of pointless angst and drama is just tiring, in my opinion. Then add in the animals .... this book is a delight from end to end.
Astute, determined, and clumsy as ever, Audrey continues to get fully involved in the situations of the ghosts who constantly follow her. But this time, things look more complicated. Audrey not only has to handle a case, but also something more within herself. We find Audrey a little more affected by the situations she faces, and even her lovely husband is more involved. So many emotions! The narrative kept me attentive to the clues, trying to guess who the culprit could be, and intrigued by the twists in the story. The suspense had me devouring the reading, and in that end, the author really did her thing! I'm hooked!
Smart, funny, clumsy, and adorable Audrey is my spirit animal….well, she’s not exactly an animal, but close enough when you add in sweet Bandit and sassy Thor. I absolutely love them all. And of course, Kade makes me swoon.
All Audrey wants is coffee. But first…ghosts in the kitchen. Here we go again, just another day, with another mystery to solve (albeit grudgingly). This one involves a teacher at the local school and brings to light a handful of potential suspects. No worries, Audrey and crew will figure it out amidst all the usual chaos.
Jane Hinchey has hit another homerun…but honestly, every story with Audrey at the center is easily a grand slam!
I love this series and its characters and it is awesome to be back with them. Audrey finds herself entangled in another murder mystery as she tries to find who killed Sandra the schoolteacher! Embroiled in suspense, scandal, hidden truths and secrets, Audrey certainly has her work cut out for her this time as she and Kade work together to solve this incredible cozy mystery. Throw in Thor the talking cat and Bandit, the mischievous raccoon, a few twists and turns and more surprises, it’s a fantastic addition to this fantabulous series!
Audrey and the gang (Husband, Ghost friend, talking cat, and racoon) are all just trying to get through the day. Then a new ghost shows up and since Kade was called to the scene of the crime, they try and work together to get to the bottom of the murder. This murder is full of twists and turns. Thank goodness Audrey is there to lighten the moment. She is so much fun to read and I always laugh out loud at the things that befall her. Coffee stains are the least of her problems! This series always delivers.
I love Audrey, really, the girl has incredible instincts and a mind like a steel trap and if it wasn't for the living distractions in her home those gifts might just be more obvious. But if you take on Audrey's ghost mysteries you take on the talking pets, an overgrown diva male cat and an overly enthusiastic and innocent I might add, Raccoon and Ghosts with demands. I always look forward to the often life threatening drama's this strong willed, determined PI goes head first into. First word to last you will love it!
Audrey and her mayhem filled gang are back in action, as they try to sort out another ghost tied mystery.
ut was fun to see that Audrey has worked out an understanding of sorts with her husband detective Kade about her ghost and drama filled sleuthing - and her clutziness .
Their furry family are an ongoing source of comic relief.
Great reading and tangled action and drama with lots of small town grudges and secrets.
Ghost and Tell is a fantastic paranormal cozy mystery. I love this series and really enjoyed being back in this world. This book is so fun and engaging. It is hilarious funny and full of adventure. I love Audrey and her quirky and determined attitude. The mystery is interesting and has many twists. The ending will leave you excited for the next book in the series. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it.
Audrey is back with her ghost best friend, to solve a school teacher's murder. Quite the interesting and comical at times, adventure. Love Thor and Bandit, Kade is the husband every woman yearns for, patient and thoughtful. This is a twisty, funny adventure to catch the bad guy. I had a great time reading this and I Loved It!!! No Spoilers! I recommend as a Great Story! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
So glad that P.I. Audrey, Police Detective Kade and ghost associate Ben are back! I have missed them so much! Lots of exclamation marks, but I was so excited when I saw this book on my Kindle! These mysteries are always full of clues, some real, some red herrings, always baffling at first, second and third glance. Thank you, Jane for making my day special. I highly recommend every book in this series. And, oh my, the teaser at the end of the book...
Who is Sandra, and how does Audrey meet her? What does Kade say to Audrey when she spots Sandra? Oh my gosh!!! The first chapter had me in stitches. How do Ben, Seb, Kade, Thor, and Bandit get involved? What happened between Sandra and Patricia? Who are Daniel, Ethan, Joshua, and Mrs. Craig? I loved Audrey's response to Kade telling her, "No more going rogue." This book was one heck of a read! The ending was a surprise. Enjoy the book!
Another hilariously wacky PI book with ghost whisperer Audrey, her detective husband Kade, Thor the talking British cat and Bandit the talking raccoon plus her old friend sidekick ghost Ben who left her the PI business when he himself was murdered. In comes Sandra also murdered and looking for answers only Audrey can give her. When they get close to finding the culprit Audrey finds herself also in danger with Kade looking helplessly on when his wife refuses to sit on the sidelines.
It's all fun and games... This story had me hooked from the get go. I can totally relate to Audrey questioning motherhood. One of my daughters was on the phone with me when her sister delivered her baby and she swore she'd never let herself have a baby because the thought of that much pain was terrifying. She's stayed true to her word 20 years on now. Loved the story and can't wait to see what happens next!
Ok… I was going to give this a 3⭐️ because at the beginning I thought Audrey was a little stiff. I felt like she wasn’t her quirky self when finding a ghost in her presence. She seemed grouchy and mean. Then it got better. But I gave 4 stars because it was a great whodunnit and the ending…. OMGOSH …. Please tell me Seb is not dead!!!! I will be patiently waiting for the next book… and please make Audrey a little funnier to be around like in the first couple of books. Thanks!! Happy Reading:)
I’m not much for writing reviews, but Henchy can write the funniest books even with serious subjects. I love Audrey, the fact that she’s a klutz, and the fact that she has a talking raccoon and a talking cat just makes it even better. And I don’t wanna leave arcade because he is real special to Audrey… At least now he’s letting her participate in solving the mysteries. Good book.
Ma'am!! You cannot end the book that way and not immediately have book 11 published!?
Just like the others, this one had me hooked. Lies, manipulation, affairs within the suspect pool. This one was chock full of drama and page turning revelations.
This is most definitely one of my favorite series I've read to date. I will be watching for book 11 to be released because that ending was not okay!
So much fun! To me, Bandit stole the show. But of course she stole it, she’s a little thief. How does she keep getting into the pantry? Audrey is her usual clumsy self, but boy can she figure out whodunnit! Good thing too, since the ghost wasn’t able to remember much. I hope this series never ends!
I so love this series. With great characters and storyline’s it’s an easy read, and this book was no different. Audrey finds herself solving another murder and this time things aren’t untangling the way you would expect. There are lots of suspects but none really standout. So the end is rather intriguing and the humour that always goes with this series is great.
