Reading Chokehold is an absolute must before reading Bloodsport. I didn’t realize that Beck was getting a book and then I stumbled upon this and realized who it was about!!! Beck finally gets the HEA he always wanted! This is a tough journey, but Beck and Sloan’s love is strong and withstands anything life throws at them!

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this book! I have been waiting for this for SO LONG (more specifically January 16th, 2024) and every second was worth it! Beckett is in my top 5 book boyfriends for sure and I was counting down the minutes until I could read about my mans finding love. 🥹 In my personal opinion, this book is EVEN BETTER than the first one, which says a lot considering the first book was one of my top reads of the year last year! I think I only liked this book better than the first because I relate to Sloan a lot more? I honestly don’t know, but OMFG do I love this world and these amazing characters! The character development WAS FUCKING FANTASTIC. AND DADDY BECK WAS EVERYTHING. Speaking of daddy Beck…

**SPOILER WARNING**
The spicy scenes in this book had me 🤤🥵 AND they were SO creative. Tell me how I never would have thought to include a pull up bar? That scene was amazing and hands down one of my favorite things ever!

Britt, you did amazing, my love and I can’t wait to continue this journey with you! Being your PA has been one of my favorite things in the whole world and I’m so grateful for you! Chokehold was one of the first ARCs I ever read and one of the main reasons I started a Bookstagram. Thank you for being the reason I was introduced to so many new and exciting things that I would have never thought to do or be a part of if I hadn’t applied for Chokehold! I love you so much, bb! 🖤🥹

Britt Reign delivers an intense, emotionally charged sequel in Bloodsport, a gripping continuation of the world she introduced in Chokehold. With a blend of slow-burn romance, suspense, and raw vulnerability, this story kept me hooked from start to finish.

At its core, Bloodsport is a romance rooted in resilience. Sloan Archer is a complex, deeply sympathetic protagonist—a survivor haunted by her past, learning to let her guard down in a world that hasn’t always been kind. Watching her navigate her trauma while trying to build a new life was both heartbreaking and empowering. Beckett Scott, the MMA fighter with a soft heart and fierce loyalty, is the perfect complement to her guarded strength.

The relationship between Sloan and Beck builds on several beloved tropes—friends to lovers, forced proximity, and slow burn—but I did wish we had a bit more time with their emotional buildup. Their bond is compelling, but it would’ve packed even more of a punch with a few more moments of deeper connection before things shifted romantically.

Still, Reign handles the themes of domestic violence and healing with care and respect, giving space to Sloan’s journey without letting it define her entirely. The added tension from Sloan’s past catching up to her kept the stakes high and the pages turning.

This is a strong second installment from Britt Reign, showing growth in both storytelling and emotional depth. Bloodsport blends heart, heat, and suspense in a way that’s sure to resonate with romance readers who love characters with grit and a story with teeth.

"To those willing to walk through the depths of hell and back to save themselves. This one’s for you."

♡This was my first read by Britt Reign & I loved it! I will start out saying I did not realize this was a sequel to Chokehold & with that being said I wouldn't have known without seeing the reviews recommending people to read that first, it read great as a stand alone! This story was full of suspense, heartbreak, & so much growth. The slow-burn was perfect & definitely worth the wait! I loved Beck & Sloan so much & I can't wait to see what is next for this series!

The duet narration for this audiobook was fantastic! Aiden did a phenomenal job bringing Beckett our MMA fighter with a soft spot for the people he loves to life! Skye is a new to me narrator & did a fantastic job bringing Sloan our strong survivor to life! Both Aiden & Skye brought this emotional trauma filled story to life & gave every character the emotion to tell their story.♡

Listen…. Book one legit had me in a chokehold… goes so well with its name… Beck, Sutton, and August had me so involved emotionally I couldn’t choose….

Read book 1 people cause spoilers coming

Then book 2 comes along….
Beck and Sloan …. Who doesn’t love an amazing come back story… and baby does Sloan come back the strongest power woman there is! I still can’t even process my feelings of that book. Bringing all the characters from book 1 and the bonds that have been created is what real life should be.

Britt your words, these books have literally touched my soul every emotion made me feel like I was living through these characters emotions and stories.

Impatiently waiting for book 3… just taking a guess but Quinn, Knox , and Ash are going to the wild ride my lady bean needs I just know it!

These books have the perfect amount of plot, smut and all the feels you didn’t know your heart and souls needed.

Blood Sport is the kind of romantic suspense that grabs you fast and doesn’t let up. Sloan has been running for so long, and when the danger finally catches up to her in Pittsburgh, the tension is nonstop. Beck is the perfect mix of protective and tender, and their connection feels so real.

The stalker element is chilling in the best way, and it keeps the story moving.

Aiden Snow and Skye Lark are fantastic together—Aiden gives Beck so much quiet strength, and Skye captures every bit of Sloan’s fear and resilience.

If you love suspense with heart—and a hero who shows up every time—this is a great listen.

Chokehold was an incredible start to this series. BloodSport expands on the brilliance that Chokehold leaves off on by presenting the story of Beck, and I have to say, I was thoroughly pleased to read what kind of direction this story took. From the brewing romantic moments in this story, to the darker and thrilling aspects... Britt Reign's writing only shows just how much she truly cares and cherishes each character in these stories, and it's such.a beautiful thing to see.

Beckett! Oh it was so good to see more of him in his own story, finding the love he deserves. And poor Sloan, the stuff she went through in her past. They’re perfect together, loving the broken pieces of each other. You have plot, character growth, so much sadness and happiness, and a whole lot of spicy lovin’. Britt doesn’t disappoint in her story telling! Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Amazing Story & Narration🎧Engaging & Emotionally Moving!

BloodSport
Awakenings Series, Book 2
By:Britt Reign
Narrated by: Aiden Snow, Skye Lark

Britt Reign’s impressive debut novel “Chokehold” blew me away for several reasons, including her wonderful writing style, attention to detail and the fabulous characters and storylines she created. So, I was excited to hear she was having her second book, “BloodSport”, recorded for audio, and was looking forward to listening to it, and I am happy to say this book is just as amazing as the first and just as moving. The story not only captivated my attention the entire time, but it tugged at my heartstrings, too. We met MMA fighter Beckett “Beck” Scott in the first book, a not to be missed story, where he suffered a broken heart when he thought he missed his chance at love with his bestie, Sutton, but he learns what being in love really is in this book. Sloan Archer escaped an abusive relationship but continues to live in fear of her ex-husband finding her, always looking over her shoulder. She has PTSD because of the physical and mental abuse her husband put her through and is skittish in certain situations. Beck and Sloan grow closer, conversations flow, Beck knows how to build her confidence and her strength so she is prepared to defend herself. I thought these two were fantastic together and for each other, and it was great watching their relationship morph into something so much more. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some gut-wrenching moments, heartfelt emotions, and a steamy, so worth the wait slow burn romance. Reign rules with her words, and her writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. She kept the domestic violence storylines real, with no victim shaming or blaming, which happens too often, sometimes from the victims themselves. Kudos to good friends, furry ones included and found family. Britt Reign, thank you for this amazing story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Aiden Snow and Skye Lark did a fantastic job voicing the characters, delivering a perfect portrayal of each and were believable in every role. Once again, Snow was amazing in Beck’s role, showcasing all aspects of his personality, from his angsty side to his softer and caring side, and he was just as amazing playing the narcissist, James. Lark nails it as Sloan, embodying her character completely, also showcasing all aspects of her personality, her fear, skittishness and transformed as her character did, bringing out her confidence, strength and determination. Both were fantastic at performing the roles of the side and secondary characters too. They set the ideal tone for the story, and their expressive performance conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance, making you feel them all. These two talented voice artists work well together, with voices that complement each other, and an entertaining performance that keeps you hooked on the story.

Britt Reign delivers an intense, emotionally charged sequel in Bloodsport, a gripping continuation of the world she introduced in Chokehold. Narrated brilliantly in duet by Aiden Snow and Skye Lark, this story kept me hooked from start to finish, seamlessly blending slow-burn romance, suspense, and raw vulnerability.

Bloodsport is a powerful romance rooted in resilience, following the journey of Sloan Archer, a survivor haunted by her past. After running for a year and constantly looking over her shoulder, Sloan attempts to build a new life in Pittsburgh by putting down roots and forming a group of friends. Watching her navigate her trauma while striving to become a better version of herself was both heartbreaking and empowering.

Her biggest mistake, perhaps, was falling for the local MMA fighter, Beckett Scott. Beck, an MMA fighter with a soft heart and fierce loyalty who is also healing from a broken heart and navigating his career, is the perfect complement to Sloan's guarded strength. The relationship between Sloan and Beck builds on beloved tropes—friends to lovers, forced proximity, and slow burn. While their bond is compelling, I did wish for a few more moments of emotional buildup before the romantic shift occurred, allowing their connection to pack an even greater punch.

Reign handles the sensitive themes of domestic violence and healing with care and respect, giving crucial space to Sloan’s recovery without letting her past define her entirely. The narrative tension escalates when a series of notes and bloody roses begin appearing, signaling that the obsession of Dr. James McAllister—who claimed Sloan the moment he laid eyes on her—has finally caught up to her. This added suspense keeps the stakes high and the pages turning as Sloan fights to survive an inescapable danger. I particularly enjoyed seeing karma collect from the creepy and truly obsessed Dr. McAllister.

Ultimately, Bloodsport is a messy, dark, and beautiful collision of a love that wasn't supposed to happen and raw vulnerability. When Sloan and Beck finally give in to their passion, the result is explosive and undeniably steamy, with Sloan fully embracing the heat. It is a deeply emotional story about finding your inner warrior and discovering a love you didn't even know you were looking for.

This strong second installment shows growth in both storytelling and emotional depth, blending heart, heat, and suspense in a way that is sure to resonate with romance readers who love characters with grit and a story with teeth. The duet performance by Aiden Snow and Skye Lark perfectly conveyed the necessary emotional intensity of this gripping tale.

BloodSport (The Awakening Series #2) by Britt Reign
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨🌶️🌶️
Interconnected Standalone (but highly recommend book 1 first) * Friends to Lovers * Who Hurt You * Secrets * Trauma * Forced Proximity * Slow Burn * DV & DA (flashbacks from prior relationship) * Suicide * Depression * Mental Health Rep * PTSD * HEA * 328 pages * 🎧8h56

I was very excited for this sequel because I am not a love-triangle girly and I desperately wanted everyone to get their happily ever after from book 1. While I’ll admit the love triangle in book one was done extremely well, this installment truly delivered the satisfaction I was craving. Our non-winning male lead finally gets his HEA. That said, he absolutely has work to do on himself before he earns it, and I appreciated that the story didn’t shy away from that growth.

This can be read as a standalone, as there’s enough context provided, but I highly recommend reading book one first (even if you dislike love triangles). The MMC is heavily featured in the first book, and it gives much deeper insight into the struggles, trauma, and emotional baggage he carries into this story. There’s also a third book coming that will wrap up the series and give the final member of the group their own HEA, which I am already impatiently waiting for.

Once again, the characters truly shine. Just like in book one, they are multilayered, messy, and human. Full of strengths AND faults. So many authors claim to write flawed characters but gloss over those flaws. Britt absolutely does not. The faults are integral to who these characters are, and it makes everything feel incredibly real and emotionally grounded.

Mental health representation is a strong, central thread throughout the story. Each character is battling their inner demons and learning how to heal rather than run. We also get powerful flashbacks that dig into Sloan’s past, showing her fight to reclaim herself after an abusive ex-husband and stop living in survival mode. These moments were heavy, emotional, and handled with care.

I received an Advanced Listener Copy from High Gravity Productions, beautifully narrated in duet by Aiden Snow and Skye Lark. Even though this audio was marked as standalone-friendly, I chose to purchase book one and listen to it immediately beforehand (something I don’t always do) and I’m SO glad I did. Both audiobooks were fantastic, and I’m officially locked in for book three, Quinn’s story, and anything else Britt Reign writes going forward.

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Honestly I thought that my issue with this book was the that I had not read the book that is supposed to be read prior. There was a lot happening in the beginning of the book that instantly made me think that I was missing something. I went through the authors books and realized that there is a book that takes place prior to this one.

IMO this should not be read as a standalone.

I was able to catch on easy, however I think things were all over the place with the drama from the beginning that my mood stayed that way.

MMC is in love with his best friend that rejected him for the love of her life and is off on tour living her best life. MMC is now depressed and angry. He is a MMA fighter and is getting ready for the fight of his life. One of his newer close friends who happens to be the FMC for this book is running from a DV marriage and is in hiding. MMC gets KTFO in his match that takes place in Las Vegas. FMC gets so worried she flys out using her credit card which then leads her ex husband to her whereabouts. Scared and very skittish FMC learns self defense from MMC and they start to fall for each other.

Narration: The female narrator was fine. I did not have any issues with her performance. The male narrator however I did not like his performance. I actually only enjoyed his performance when he was playing the crazy ex husband. When I found out that it was Aiden Snow I was very confused because I have listened to multiple books narrated by him and I have loved his voice in those. For this book he sounded very different.

My dislikes:

I hate “daddy” usage in romance books. Sorry not sorry.
It’s a cringe word for me. If it happens fast I can usually push through but they dwelled on it the FMC actually got embarrassed immediately and I got secondhand embarrassment with her. 😷

The FMCs badass moment never happens. For all prep she does the big moment fell flat for me. She acts too damsel in distress.

The moment where the MMC throw a temper tantrum when he thinks the FMC is leaving, had me rolling my eyes so hard. She don’t need someone who acts like that. 😑🙄

Overall this was a miss for me. I listened to the audio so I don’t know if I would feel differently if I had read the ebook or physical.

This book gave me everything I wanted and more. Slow burn to absolute fire, friends-to-lovers done to perfection, with a hefty side of emotional damage (who hurt you? Oh… right. Britt Reign did).

Sloan Archer is the kind of FMC you root for from page one. She’s been living on the run, constantly haunted by her past, and just when she starts to let her guard down—cue the white roses and cryptic notes. The tension? Immaculate. The dread? Delicious. And then there’s Beckett Scott—my MMA-fighting, cinnamon roll with a bruised heart. I loved him in book one, but in Bloodsport?!?! Watching him open up, let go of his guilt, and fight for something real with Sloan… swoon doesn’t even cover it.

Their connection is everything you want in a slow burn: the subtle glances, the lingering touches, the will-they-won’t-they that turns into holy hell, they absolutely did. The spice is perfectly timed and satisfyingly steamy without ever taking away from the emotion behind it. Theres one moment in particular where I literally died and was like damn girl you go explore your kink!

Add in the shadow of the ever-creepy Dr. James—Sloan’s twisted past that refuses to stay buried—and you've got the perfect balance of romance and suspense.

Bloodsport is gritty, tender, and binge worthy. If you love a story where healing and heartbreak dance on the edge of danger, and where love is worth fighting for—this one’s for you. Beck deserved his happy ending, and I’m so damn happy he got it.

BloodSport follows after Chokehold and brings back characters from that world to carry on into this one.
Sloan is running from her abusive relationship, looking to break free from all those horrible moments. She’s working toward becoming a better version of herself.
Beck is trying to heal from a broken heart while navigating his MMA career — and he’s also helping others through his self-defense class.
Britt, I really enjoyed how karma came to collect from Dr. James McAllister, because he’s creepy and obsessed… and not in a dark romance kind of way, ladies.
BloodSport is a slow-burn collision of a love that wasn’t supposed to happen and raw vulnerability. It’s dark. It’s messy. And when Sloan and Beck finally get together, it’s explosive — and pretty damn steamy. Sloan is on board for all that heat, too!
It’s also a beautiful, emotional story about finding your inner warrior and discovering a love you didn’t even know you were looking for.
Please check the trigger warnings, as some sensitive subjects have been mentioned.

Bloodsport gripped me at the start and I binged the story in one day because I had to find out what was going to happen.

This story had a great mix of suspense, swoon, spice, and a great storyline. I loved that Sloane was able to reclaim her power and to take care of herself and the role that Beck played in encouraging and helping to protect her was just perfect! This story had some tough moments, but it had so many redeeming ones too and I loved that for Sloane and Beck.

The audiobook narrated by Skye Lark and Aiden Snow was perfect. Skye did a wonderful job voicing Sloane's fear, her trauma, and also her strength. Aiden did an incredible job voicing the encouragement that Beck had for Sloane but also his challenges and his love for her. These two were just perfect for each of these roles!

🎧 ALC Review: BloodSport
Written by Britt Reign
Narrated in duet by Aiden Snow & Skye Lark
ALC provided by the author and High Gravity Productions

BloodSport is intense, emotional, and absolutely hits so good in audio. Aiden Snow delivers a performance that is wildly impressive. His Beckett is raw, protective, and quietly tender, while his switch into the antagonist is chilling. Skye Lark is the heartbeat of this story. She captures Sloan’s fear, resilience, and hard-won strength with nuance that makes every moment hit harder. Their duet narration keeps the tension razor sharp and had me locked in from start to finish.

This is a survival story wrapped in romance, grit, and empowerment. The found family element shines, the danger feels real, and the emotional payoff lands because the narrators make you feel every ounce of it.

Sloan and Beckett are amazing to read/listen to their story. Both so broken but they each are the glue the other needed to be whole again.
They find true love within each other.
This was my first book by Britt Reign and I enjoyed her writing style. This book has so many aspects to it. You’re getting darkness, sadness, spicy, and lots of heart. Great story teller.

BloodSport was an amazingly emotional and empowering audio book that was duet narrated by Aiden Snow and Skye Lark. I would just double check those TW’s to make sure this book with be ok for you. I loved how strong and determined our FMC Sloan was to leave a DV situation and start fresh. She makes a new family for herself and all of them are ride or die. Beck is a tough guy with anger issues that is part of Sloan’s friend group and also teaches self defense at the gym. Beck knows with our Sloan telling him that she’s hiding from something or someone. I was on the edge of my freaking seat with this audio book.

This is the second book in a series, following the book Chokehold (which is also fantastic). Sloan and Beckett have my heart. I really loved getting to dive more into Beckett and his past while he managed his present. I love a book where 2 flawed people come together and heal with each other. This book will have you laughing and crying. I highly reccomend!!!! Please note: Check the trigger warnings before diving in . Some heavy topics are included in this book.
