Pittsburgh Titans #12

Callum (Pittsburgh Titans Team Teil 12)

Rate this book

Callum Derringer has always dreamed of running a professional hockey team. When he's finally given the chance he's determined to prove himself. Now he's the general manager of the Pittsburgh Titans, and loves his job. His career is on the right track and life is good. Then a family emergency throws his world into chaos as he returns to his hometown and comes face to face with his first love. Juniper Ryan was still his biggest regret. His mistakes pushed her into his brother's arms, and they're now married. He's tried to forget about her, but when he realizes she's in a bad situation, he can't walk away. Everything turns complicated, but he refuses to let her down. As they reconnect they still share such an intense connection. Is what they had better off left in the past, or could they finally get their happy ending?

Callum (Pittsburgh Titans #12) by Sawyer Bennett is a first loves, forced proximity, sports romance full of emotion, angst, sizzling chemistry and plenty of heart. It's about beautiful connections, trust and second chances. I love this series so much, and adored this couple together. Callum is super swoony! <333

Diving into the heart of the Pittsburgh Titans Hockey series with 'Callum' by Sawyer Bennett was an exhilarating ride!

🏒💔 This installment isn't just about the players on the ice; it delves deep into the management side, shining a spotlight on the enigmatic General Manager, Callum Derringer. His journey to rebuild the Titans organization mirrors his personal quest for redemption and love.

💔💪Juniper Ryan, his first love and now his stepbrother's wife, adds layers of complexity to the narrative. Her resilience in the face of past trauma is both inspiring and heart-wrenching.

🔥📚As their paths intertwine again, the chemistry between Callum and Juni reignites, sparking a second chance at love that feels incredibly real.

The author's skillful storytelling keeps you on the edge of your seat, especially in the nail-biting final chapters filled with drama and suspense.

💖 I loved the romance between Callum and Juni of course, but what truly captivated me was the camaraderie among the Titan women, offering Juni the support and friendship she craved.

And with the promise of new blood on the team, the series continues to evolve, leaving readers eagerly anticipating what's next!

Ok, but not great. Callum was a strong, likable guy. Juniper was hard to get a read on. I felt like her behavior sometimes didn’t fit the point in the book.
I felt the ending was very rushed. If I make it through a book, I want a little more of the HEA!

Every series has books you really love, and some just okay. But you love the overall cast of characters and seeing them throughout the series.
Callum is a good guy. Unfortunately, I never warmed up to Juniper. At all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Callum is yet another winner form the Pittsburgh Titans. I loved it all. The hockey references are spot-on - even if I'm less of a connoisseur when it comes to coaches. I loved how involved Callum was not only with the deciders of the team but also with the players.

Once I started this baby I couldn’t stop, I should have since I had that #workthing to do, but when it’s good, it’s good and this baby is good in all the ways.

I loved Callum and Juni. I already liked Callum, but after finding out how he grew up and all that entailed, it made me like him even more for being the compassionate guy that he is, even when he gets riled up because it is for a good reason. Juni is a strong woman and what she has lived through has only made her stronger. I loved her sass and heart.

Their second chance journey wasn’t an easy one, it wasn’t an extremely rough one either, but watching as they worked through all the good and bad of their past and figuring out what they wanted for their future only proved that they were meant to be together, if they can only look forward instead of back.

I thought Boone was a rough read, emotionally, and it was, but this one was right up there, just for different reasons. So, reader beware that there are triggers. There are also some twists tossed in here that were definitely a surprise, but they were understandable. But, as always, I really liked hanging out with the Titans as a whole. I loved the family vibe and seeing how all the various relationships ~ romantic or platonic ~ have evolved over the series.

Callum was the twelfth book in the Pittsburgh Titans series by Sawyer Bennett.

I enjoyed both Callum and Juniper. It was a second chance theme and the back story was a tough one. It was well written, emotional and entertaining. I can’t wait to see who is next.

Callum is book 12 in the Pittsburgh Titans series about General Manager Callum and his ex-girlfriend Juniper. When his mother needs brain surgery after a fall, Callum goes back to his hometown where his ex, the love of his life, is married to his step-brother. After finding out what kind of marriage they have, Callum rescues Juniper and takes her back to Pittsburgh with him. I liked how caring and thoughtful Callum is and how he regretted he break up 15 years prior. I also liked actually seeing him do his job as a GM in the off season. While reading this book, I found that I had trouble connecting to the characters and actually believing in their love. We were told they dated from high school through college, but didn’t actually experience any of that and that made it hard for me to relate to the characters and their actions. Although I didn’t like this book as much as the previous ones, it was a nice addition to the series.

Callum is another fantastic addition to the Pittsburgh Titans series. Callum is a second chance romance which is one of my favorite tropes.

Callum returns to his hometown after his mother is hospitalized. While he’s there, he sees his ex, Juniper, who is now unhappily married to his step brother. Juniper is in a terrible situation and Callum immediately steps up to help her.

I appreciated that there wasn’t a lot of time spent on the past, and both Callum and Juni were able to focus on the future. Their previous love never died and is quickly grown back to a strong and beautiful bond.

Many things happen in regard to the douchebag to end all douchbags, and I wish that the situation would have provided more of a satisfactory outcome for Callum’s mom. But maybe that will be something we’ll see in a future book?

One of my favorite part of these books is how welcoming the Titan women are to newcomers. Juni was starving for female friendships and there were no better group of women that she could have been welcomed into.

We also got the promise of some new Titan blood on the team so I am looking forward as always to the rest of the series!

Callum Derringer has made managing hockey his singular focus since leaving home. He doesn’t return home often, as he doesn’t have a great relationship with his step father and step brother. And to add to the pain, the love of his life is married to his stepbrother. But a phone call sends him running to be by his mom’s side and face to face with his lost love. He quickly realizes Juniper is not in a good place and set into motion a plan that both sets her free and creates additional chaos for the family.

Juniper had dreams to follow Callum long ago, but her dreams changed and now she is trapped in a situation she cannot see a way out of. She hopes to hide the truth from Callum while he’s in town, but quickly realizes he still sees the parts of her that no one else does.

When Callum and Juniper return to Pittsburgh and begin the process of settling Juniper up independently, they realize the feelings between them were not permanently damaged by the hurt of their young split. But Callum also knows that Juni needs time to get on her feet and he won’t be the one to tie her to a dream that is not her own.

Though she doesn’t arrive in Pittsburgh as Callum’s girlfriend, the Titans family quickly adopts Juniper and wraps her up in their web. I love the way this found family welcomes new people in with open arms, makes them feel welcomed, and gives them validation and purpose without any effort whatsoever.

This story had several layers that kept the pages turning from start to finish. The second chance aspects had me rooting for Callum and Juni’s history from the beginning. There were some pretty dramatic twists that really ramped up the tension towards the second half of the story and I loved the way the twists renewed the interest for me.

I encourage you to go on this heartfelt journey of Callum and Juniper’s love story. Unfortunately Callum made a big mistake years ago when Juniper, the love of his life, gave him an ultimatum for him to take her to live with him in Canada or it was the end of them. He left her. Present day Callum blames himself for all the terrible things that had happened to Juniper because of his choice. Juniper ended up marrying Callum’s psycho step brother, and she was caught in a life of misery. I hated that Callum had to go back to the home he was raised as his mother had been in the hospital with a brain bleed. After he sees the bruises on Juniper, he takes her away from the house and hires a lawyer for her to get a divorce. You will need to read the book to find out the big reason Juniper couldn’t leave until Callum stepped in. It was so heartwarming when Callum took Juniper to Pittsburgh with him and his hockey family stood behind him and Juniper. But Callum’s crazy step brother would not give up. There were some suspenseful times that had me scared. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

I really really loved Callum! This book had everything and more. Everything Juni has been through and seeing her fighting back was fantastic. The tension between her and Callum from their past was delicious, I loved the second chance element of their relationship. I loved seeing Callum willing to do anything to make Juni happy and keep her safe. It was also fun to see all the ladies of the Titans welcome in Juni. It was also really cool to see the hockey GM side with Callum. There were so many threads woven together to make this story, and all of them made for such an enjoyable read!

Triggers: domestic violence
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is a great second chance romance.

Callum has drama in his family life. After leaving to pursue his career, he never quite understood what he was leaving behind. With his career going well, when he gets news that his mom is in the hospital, he reluctantly returns home.

Juniper has lived a life of secrets. She has endured so much in her short life. When she sees Callum again, she’s not sure how to feel. Her life would’ve been so different had Callum decided to bring her along. But, that’s the past.

Callum sees the situation for what it truly is and he knows just what to do. With his mom out of the hospital, despite her denial, Callum knows that he can do one good thing while he’s home. He can get Juniper to safety.

With their relationship renewed to friendship, their attraction still there, can Juniper trust that Callum won’t disappear again? Will Juniper’s past dictate her future?

This was a fun, sexy read. You won’t be disappointed.

Callum🥰

Firstly, I must say I love how each of Sawyer’s stories are so varied in their style and deliveries, it certainly makes for a refreshing read each time❣️

That said, I enjoyed this story of Callum and ‘the one that got away’ Juniper aka Juni. Callum is called home, when it appears his mother has had some sort of accident and ends up having brain surgery. Juniper has stayed with his mother in the hospital while she waits for her to awaken or until Callum gets there to be with her. Callum hasn’t seen Juni for ages, for reasons which soon come to light.

This book deals with some touchy subjects, but are done so well🙌 I’m happy the long road travelled to be together finally happens for this couple. Off to the next book, can’t wait to find out more about Foster❤️‍🩹

Call I’m goes home to visit his mom after she has an accident. He runs into his ex love who is now married to his step brother.

When he notices bruises on her, he realizes she’s been being abused. He convinces her to come with him to Pittsburgh when he realizes he can take care of the problem that’s been forcing her to stay with her abusive husband.

Callum has to convince Juniper that he’s truly sorry for leaving her and vows to make her trust him again.

Another tough subject matter for my beloved titians. Well written and sensitive to the subject of spousal abuse. Loved how Juni wasn't a total doormat, feisty girl. And Callum, swoon.

Decent hockey management plot no gaping holes there and smattering of the hockey hunks making appearances.

Lovers to enemies to lovers trope. Not too angsty really as the enemy phase was very short. No hockey either as Callum is the team's GM. Ok, not great.

Callum by Sawyer Bennett is a beautifully written and heartfelt second chance love story and I loved it.

I enjoyed the storyline, it held my interest all throughout the book and I loved seeing the relationship unfold between Callum and Juniper. Both leads are strong, likable characters that get a second chance at love. Callum knows he let his person go back when they were young and just started their careers.
Now nothing will stop him from giving his all to the woman his heart has always belong to.
I was so happy they were able to put past hurts behind them and to trust in the love they both shared.

Callum is an excellent addition to the Pittsburgh Titans series, each book has been an excellent read and I highly recommend them all!

This is an interesting second-chance romance. Callum and Juniper were high school and college sweethearts. While Callum has always been a great guy, he made mistakes when he was young and ambitious, believing his way was the right way. This tore their relationship apart. Callum’s stepbrother, someone whom Callum never got along with, swooped in and eventually married Juniper. Callum stayed away from his hometown after that, rarely returning to even see his mom. Fast forward 15 years and Callum is home to see his mom who just had emergency surgery, forced to see and speak to Juniper.

Juniper’s story is one of abuse and loyalty. Abuse at the hands of her husband and loyalty to her father, who requires constant medical attention, which her husband pays for. Watching the different stages Juniper goes through when it comes to her abuser, the things she could have and couldn’t have done differently, and how she reacts to all the sudden changes in her life once Callum sees what is happening, is by turns terrifying and inspiring. (There are some explicit scenes when it comes to the abuse, so be sure to protect yourself if reading these things isn’t good for your mental health.)

I love and appreciate how much Callum wants to swoop in and save everyone. But I also appreciate that Juniper is in a position of finally being able to make decisions herself, and she asserts that want and need. She has to learn to trust her instincts again, and Callum is the perfect person to do that with. He’s not infallible, but he listens to Juniper when she pushes back at him when he gets too high-handed in his desire to protect.

Having watched Callum bring this ragtag team together through the course of this series, I was glad he got his HEA. And since he’s got the inside scoop on the team, so to speak, I could see so many threads of what may be coming for this team as well as other teams in the league. This story took place during the free agency period in the league, so a lot was happening on that end.

As much as I loved this story, I felt it started a tad slowly. It had to in order to set things up in a way that both Juniper and Callum are shown in a good light; otherwise, things could have gotten weird with the relationships in this one. Once the anger and resentment were talked through, the story flew by.

Update after reread via audiobook Nov 2025:
I still loved this one. Plus, Jason Clarke did a fantastic job with his parts of the narration. I wasn't quite as enamored with the other narrator when it came to her portrayal of the men in the book, but it wasn't bad by any means. I do think, if someone is going into this story for the first time, they should read it will their eyes if that's an option for them. It was fun to revisit the free-agent time period from the standpoint of knowing the new players that were discussed.

An Amazing Second Chance Romance! Riveting & Emotional! Fantastic Story & Narration!

Callum
A Pittsburgh Titans Novel
By: Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Lessa Lamb

Sawyer Bennett continues to wow me with another fantastic “Pittsburgh Titans” novel, an amazing second chance romance that is not only captivating from start to end, but an emotional rollercoaster ride like no other. Callum Derringer is the general manager, brought in after the devastating plane crash that killed all but three players of the team to help rebuild the team. He has been doing well for the team and is grateful Brienne Norcross, the team owner, took a chance on him. His one regret in life was choosing his career over the love of his life, Juniper Ryan, who has since moved on, and if that did not hurt enough, she moved on with his own stepbrother. When Callum’s mom is hospitalized for a traumatic head injury, he travels back to see his mom and to check if there was any foul play involved, since he does not trust his stepfather and wonders if he had anything to do with her fall. When he goes to their home, he finds Juniper there, and he does not like what he sees, visible marks that she was assaulted. She fesses up to the abuse, why she puts up with the abuse and stays in an abusive marriage. My heart broke for her and I was glad to see Callum was not allowing her to stay in that house a moment longer and did what he had to do to get her to leave. But you know her husband would not let her go without a fight and her father-in-law, who was an enabler to his son, was no help either. I worked with victims of domestic violence and it is never easy to see, and some people say why do they stay, why don’t they just leave? It is never a simple answer, and Juniper’s reason is an example of that. I am not sure what Callum’s mother’s deal is, but that is another story. Callum takes Juniper away, brings her back with him to Pittsburgh and Juniper, who was still angry with how Callum broke her heart all those years ago, and as she becomes closer to herself again and her anger turns in to forgiveness. When invited into the inner circle, the queens of the Titans, they accept her with open arms and it was something she has not had in a long time, girlfriends, since the ones that she had all drifted away. And as predicted, her soon to be ex-husband finds her, but I never predicted he would do what he did. I hated that man! Callum was supportive and so good for Juniper, and I thought they were great together and for each other. It made me happy when Juni saw that, too. As with all of Ms. Bennett’s book, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. This is a beautiful second chance romance with some ugly moments, those moments, the domestic abuse incidents were kept real, so it was not always easy, but love wins in the end. Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another amazing story.

🎧📚🎧 Jason Clarke and Lessa Lamb were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, and they did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Lessa Lamb nailed it as Juniper, grasping every side of her personality, from her insecurities to her strength and confidence, and I loved how she transformed as her character did. Clarke was just as amazing as Callum, and he too grasped all sides of his personality. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary characters, too, including the evil and narcissistic brother. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These talented and entertaining storytellers made a great team, their character voices and performances complimented each other and they were a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Callum is the 12th book in Author Sawyer Bennett’s Pittsburgh Titans series. In my opinion, this series is phenomenal, and keeps getting better and better.
This is phenomenal book is definitely a “second chance” romance genre novel!!
First reason, after a devastating plane crash leaving most of the Pittsburgh Titans gone, we meet Brienne Norcross owner is doing her utmost best to resurrect the team with the help of new coaches, new players, and most importantly, the new General Manager…
Second reason, Callum Derringer knew from a young age that he wanted to “run” a professional hockey team, and worked very hard toward the opportunity, even to the detriment to his relationship with his girlfriend Juniper Ryan. Callum gets his chance at becoming the general manager of the Ottawa Cougars, where he fails miserably. A few years later, Callum receives a call from Brienne to help rebuild the Pittsburgh Titans…
Third reason, while in college, Juniper Ryan and Callum Derringer fell hard for each other. Juniper knew without a doubt that they were going to make it, he was her future. When Callum graduated, he left Juniper behind to finish her education. He was determined to make it to GM level before he let Juniper join him. Unfortunately, after several months, Juniper became impatient and gave Callum the ultimatum of “now or never”. Callum, the idiot that he was, chose “never”, and left her to his jealous stepbrother.
I really loved watching these two come back together, and seeing Callum realize what a freaking idiot he was for ever letting her go, and to a point pushing her into his abusive stepbrother’s arms. Callum had to work really hard to get Juniper to trust him with her heart again, and eventually, she did forgive him.
As a reader, I really enjoy book series, especially the ones like Ms. Bennett’s Pittsburgh Titans series, where the readers get to catch up with previous characters. I loved how the “Titan Queens” surrounded Juniper and brought her into the fold/family, because this team each and every person are family!! Even if they leave… Sorry Ladies, I refuse to give anything away… You will have to read this phenomenal book to find out who.
When I was gifted with a copy of this wonderful book for my thoughts and opinions, I could not wait for it to hit my Kindle and dive in. I also acquired an audio copy and have listened to it twice already; I loved it so much. I could listen to narrators Jason Clarke and Lessa Lamb read to me forever. They definitely made the story that much more special.
I NEED to say Thank YOU Sawyer Bennett for sharing your wonderful writing talents with your readers. I know you give me hours and hours of reading and listening enjoyment to me ALL of the time. Before Callum came out, I was relistening to the Cold Fury series (Max to be exact) for the umpteenth time, I love your books so much.
Back to my review. I know for a fact, that if you love to read a good romance book you will love this book as much as I have. SO, what are you waiting for? Go hit that purchase button from your favorite retailer and come back and let US know what YOU thought. I know all authors love to receive reviews.
Thank you for reading my review of Callum. Have a great day, and happy reading!!!

4.5stars- CALLUM is the twelfth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult PITTSBURGH TITANS erotic, hockey romance series. This is Titans’ GM, forty year old, Callum Derringer, and thirty-eight year old, Juniper Ryan’s story line. CALLUM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: Several months earlier, a devastating plane crashed claimed all but three members of the Pittsburgh Titans hockey team including owners, coaches and staff. Rebuilding the team, owner Brienne Norcross, offered positions to one-time professional and semi-pro players. These are their stories.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Callum and Juniper) CALLUM follows the second chance romance and relationship between our story line couple. Juniper Ryan and Callum Derringer were high school and college sweethearts but life and expectations sent our couple in different direction, pushing Juniper into the arms of Callum’s step-brother. Fast forward fifteen years, Callum is called home when his mother suffers a terrible fall, a fall that may have been caused by someone else. With Juniper Ryan by his mother’s side, Callum struggles with what was and what could have been until he discovers that all is not well in Juniper’s life. In an effort to protect the woman he still loves, Callum takes control, moving our heroine to Pittsburgh, where our couple will begin their lives anew. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Callum and Juniper, and the potential fall-out as Juniper’s ex refuses to let go.

The world building focuses on spousal abuse and control. Callum has always suspected his mother’s life has never been easy since marrying a man Callum despises while Juniper has been suffering at the hands of our hero’s step brother. Callum, desperate to protect Juniper Ryan, knows he must make amends, in an effort to rebuild what once was.

The relationship between Juniper and Callum is one of second chances. Callum Derringer wasn’t ready to settle down, and pushing Juniper out of his life, meant nothing but heart break for our story line heroine. Reconnecting with Callum sets Juniper on a new path going forward, a path that comes with more family and friends. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.

Most of the previous story line couples return as secondary and supporting characters. One of the Pittsburgh Titans will be traded, while several more may be welcomed into the Pittsburgh fold. We are introduced to Callum’s mother Lila Willard, as well as his stepfather Preston and stepbrother Joshua Willard.

CALLUM is a story of betrayal, vengeance and abuse; family and friendships, forgiveness and love. The fast paced premise is emotional and engaging; the romance is seductive ; the characters are determined and dynamic.

This is the twelfth book in this series, and they have all been excellent stories, this is no exception.

Callum truly has a horrible family; it is almost unbelievable that he is such a great guy, given the toxic situation of his past. Having to face that and see his first love, now married to his stepbrother, clearly in distress and pain, brings him up short and changes his understanding of the situation.

It is almost a relief that Callum is not perfect and has a second chance at making amends for his youthful error in leaving Juniper behind. As always, the rest of the team are in support, and the women rally round and give Juniper a chance at a much brighter future. It makes for a moving and ultimately very romantic read.

Another lovely installment – and as we get farther from the crash, the team pay tribute and honour the past, but are living their best lives now, which I love!

This is a great second-chance romance.

But that’s the past.

Callum Derringer ... more than what you see

This review is for both eBook and Audio

CALLUM, Pittsburgh Titan #12, is the book I never knew I needed. It is an emotional, second chance love story which involves the rekindling of a friendship, a difficult domestic situation, romance, and suspense.

Callum Derringer is the General Manager of the Pittsburgh Titans, his dream job. For years his only focus has been work, forgoing relationships due to a choice he made in the past. He returns to his hometown when his mother is admitted to hospital, which leads to him running into his first love, the woman he left behind, the woman who is now married to his stepbrother. Juniper 'Juni' Ryan is stuck in a life she never expected. Trapped in a loveless marriage she no longer wants. Juni has become a victim of both circumstance and abuse. She's strong though, suffering at the hands of her husband for the love of her father. Juni has never forgotten her first love, what will happen when he re-enters her life?

I've always liked Callum, and now, after reading his story, I admire him even more. I enjoyed learning about his day-to-day life as a GM and everything his position entails. While Callum may be work focused, it became obvious where his heart was focused. Learning of Juni's life and after her cry for help, Callum is determined to make up for his mistakes of the past. Juni, because of everything she has been through, is unsure if she can trust Callum's intentions. Spending time together enables them to realise that what they felt in the past for each other still existed. Winning Juni back and keeping her safe has become Callum's priority, will he be able to manage both?

Jason Clarke and Leesa Lamb narrate the audio of this book, and they were perfect. They brought Callum and Juni to life by injecting personality and emotion into them, making the experience more realistic. The love, fear, anger, and frustration were beautifully portrayed.

Sawyer Bennett has yet again excelled with Callum and Juni's story. She has ensured that, from the beginning, I was completely invested. I loved that the Pittsburgh family automatically took Callum and Juni into their fold, this is what makes Sawyer's books special, the "found family" component. CALLUM was a story of love, understanding, and acceptance, Sawyer Bennet at her absolute best, ensuring my emotions were taken on a rollercoaster ride. An unmissable read.
