The Night Nanny is Nelle Lamarr’s latest thriller and wow does it pack a punch!! Like her last book, The Family Guest, I could not put this book down. I saw a few things “coming” but then some things that I did not see coming and my jaw was hanging wide open!! Holy cow! This was fantastic! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. If you want action packed from the very first page, this is the book for you! Due to be published May 13, 2024.

This book was so predictable and far fetched. There were just way too many coincidences. It kept my attention but towards the end I was just rolling my eyes.

“The night nanny” follows Ava, a new mother who is having difficulty caring for baby Isa after a problematic pregnancy and delivery in which she needs to recover from.

As fate would have it she meets a highly experienced night nurse over coffee and after a push from her not so helpful husband she decides to hire her as a night nanny.

I immediately got strange vibes from the night nanny, she seemed to know too much information about the family and during her first night of work she seemed to be controlling with baby Isa.

This is a psychological thriller so we watch Ava doubt her own mind and capabilities as she attempts to heal, her husband is an absolute waste of space who is incapable of showing any compassion towards his wife and is more focussed on checking out the nanny. The nanny herself is definitely harbouring a lot of secrets and has her own agenda going on. On top of that Ava’s sketchy alcoholic mother shows up and does nothing to help except for making judgey comments and observations.

The only likeable characters are Ava herself who is in my opinion way too generous and forgiving, and Isas god father Gabe who is the only person who seems to see Ava and Isas worth.

There are lots of twists and scenes that will make you want to throw your book at the wall out of frustration 🤣. This book is definitely WILD in terms of characters and drama, I will say I was very satisfied with the ending, I enjoyed the last show down which was themed within atmospheric tornado weather. I also enjoyed the epilogue and couldn’t help but chuckle at the police report.

I first came onto Nelle Lamarrs books after Freida McFadden personally recommended “the family guest” which I thoroughly enjoyed, so I was very excited to see this new release and snatch it up ahead of publication!

An easy to read, fast paced plot that will leave you in suspense!

Thank you to the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for the EARC!

This book was definitely not for me.

As a trigger warning for the book it contains graphic descriptions of dead newborns. I would never have read this if I’d known it was in there.

I really wanted to like this book, but I really didn’t. It was advertised as a good pick for Freida McFadden lovers. It was my first read by this author. Writing seemed more like young adult. I didn’t care for the plot & felt the ending was disjointed and unraveled too quickly. It may seem like a minor detail, but I was really irritated by how the characters called their young live in nanny “Nurse Marley.” Seemingly minor detail but made the writing seem immature and unrealistic to me.

2nd psychological thriller from this author and as always after an excellent first book you aporoach with excitement but almost wariness when ‘tis the 2nd
But I had no need to worry, another stomper of a book that has created a hard to forget main character ( Nurse Marley ) who is intent on major disruption in the lives of those she is pretending to help and nurture, she is a Nurse you don’t want to meet and definitely you dont want her to have you on her radar….
Loved the setting of LA and Beverley Hills….. the after problems of birth are something I know nothing of but the descriptions of Ava’s mental and physical well being were clearly indicating the struggles she was facing and were described brilliantly….and then along comes her saviour….except she’s the devil
Great story and narrative and loved the authors letter at the end where she explains the 2 part ending and how she struggled with it and without giving anything away I agreed 100% with it
Reader friendly writing and a force to be reckoned with in the thriller genre, roll on Book 3

This book was even better than I expected, and I had very high expectations when I first heard about it.

I devoured the story in one sitting as I just couldn't put it down.

I was kept on the edge of my seat right from the start and didn't let up right up to the end.

I really enjoy discovering new authors and am looking forward to more of this authors work.

Wow! What a rollercoaster ride!! The Night Nanny is definitely an unputdownable suspense thriller with so many shocking twists! I felt for Ava throughout the entire read. Poor woman is so clueless and oblivious to even the most obvious things. And Marley was certainly the nut job! The author did a phenomenal job keeping me on the edge of my seat until the very end! Each twist topped the last, which made this book hard to put down. 5 stars!!
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Nelle Lamarr for this suspenseful read!

I absolutely loved this book! Talk about a page turner. I loved how it all fit together. Right when you think you know what’s going on, more pieces to the puzzle pop up and leave you shocked. There was a brief time where I truly disliked Ava and felt she was a weak and ridiculous character but it very quickly becomes clear to not underestimate her. I really liked how the characters are so well formed and you can feel their emotions and understand their reasonings for their actions. This all around was an amazing book. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy!

This book follows Ava, a new mother to Isa, that due to some complications, decides to hire a night nanny. It will definitely make you think about who you allow around your children!

Unfortunately, I did not relate to this writing style. The dialogue between characters was not for me. I also did not think it was twisty or shocking. It was very predictable and kind of hokey. It was a quick read though.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

WOW WOW WOW!!! This book gripped me from the very first sentence. There were so many twists and turns I think I need to see a doctor to check on my whiplash!

If you’re looking for a book that will keep you guessing right until the end and leave you with a mind blowing twist, then this is the book for you. I was so engrossed I read it in less than 24 hours. I cannot wait to check out other books by this author!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book!

PONTOS FORTES:

- escrita simples

- leitura viciante

- suspense crescente

- enredo interessante

- reviravoltas

- personagens com segredos

- mortes

PONTOS FRACOS:

- nada a registar

This was a fast paced thriller about a night nanny caring for the newborn of a rich couple. Early on, I thought I knew what was going to happen, but TWO twists came out of nowhere that shocked me! I highly recommend this book!

Title: The Night Nanny
Author: Nelle Lamarr
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Media: ebook
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

—————————

Favorite quote: N/A
Sum of this book in 5 words or less: Rollarcoaster of emotions and events.
KU: Yes

—————————

Themes: nanny, infidelity, lies, murder, family, infant death, death

—————————

Thoughts:

Short summary - Ava and Ned are new parents that hire a night nanny. The night nanny comes in and starts accusing Ava of certain things that she did not do - like leaving the baby on her stomach to sleep.

I was expecting a few cut and dry book about a nanny who does some bad things - like murder the wife, murder the husband, kidnap the baby, etc. Those types of things - the ones we all know they’re going to be like. While some things do happen, nurse Marley definitely takes it a step further in this book.

This book was not what I was expecting in the best way possible. Read this if you’re wanting to read a different kind of psychological thriller than the typical ones.
