A stay-at-home mom with a husband, three kids and a writing addiction on the side, Staci Stallings has numerous titles for readers to choose from. Not content to stay in one genre and write it to death, Staci’s stories run the gamut from young adult to adult, from motivational and inspirational to full-out Christian and back again. Every title is a new adventure! That’s what keeps Staci writing and you reading. Staci touches the lives of people across the globe every week with her various Internet endeavors including:
An amazing "Go To" devotional/lesson book for that nudge you need each day to live in HIM and not in yourself!
The Kindle version of this book is indexed at the beginning with live links so really easy to find the reading/page you need/want. There is a beautiful foreword by Dennis Bates. No matter what church denomination we are affiliated with, how we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us is what's important!
Reflections II is separated into six different sections under which are a variety of different devotions/lessons. There are way too many to list them all so here is a snapshot of some of my favorite "topics" and thoughts.
1. Lessons from my walk in the garden GPS - God Positioning System. God "installed our model before we left the factory." This really made me smile. Which Jonah are you? A great devotion for all stay-at-home-moms. "... a serious patience factor present every single minute." Are you fighting the job God has given you to do OR are you prepared to do His will no matter what? Wonderful encouragement here. When Evil turns - The witch from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is not ugly but beautiful. She sweetens Edmund up. What is your Turkish Delight? Don't listen to the devil's lies no matter how good they sound. Think shackles and chains! Very poignant and insightful. What everyone else says - Advice givers are not God. By all means ask for advice but then you have to make the decision based on what God wants YOU to do! God's timing is perfect! Focus on Him, not yourself. Powerful info for any 'would be' writers. Your will or His will? Tree of Life - resting in God. Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - doing things in your own strength. Who are you tuned to? The dangerous words "If only...." Don't keep your blessings and talents to yourself. God's Anchor. This is really cool! You have got to read it! To be poor in spirit is to be blessed. Jesus took something empty and dirty and filled it with the best wine :) You can only find yourself in Christ, just as true power, peace and happiness come through Him. The Butterfly Effect - This is powerful, life changing stuff! Are you bearing or holding fruit? It's cool being green and Staci is not talking about the environment! Do the right thing no matter your station in life! PLUS much more in this, the longest section in the book.
2. On Family (short section) The right room * A supportive husband * Ragpickers (Bet you can't guess what this is about!) * Patience
3. On Being (short section) You are whole * Believe
4. On Living Breaking Point * Long term decisions * Which rainbows are you chasing? This is a biggie! * The fiction of perfection * It's not our money! When we learn that money belongs to God it changes our entire perspective on the subject. * Virus blocker called Faith * To the world we are expendable but to God we are irreplaceable * Taking a C+ and making Lemonade * Don't be afraid to stick with just what you have been called to do. Saying "No" to other 'callings' is OK! * Just close your eyes, say a prayer and kick.
5. On Writing (short section) Prolific * A different plan * A broader perspective * God and romance * For the love of it
6. On God as life (short section) Plug into the source * Life value * God wants to experience life through YOU! * Life or death? * God is not competitive.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It both challenged and blessed me. Yes, I was given a copy to review but what I have written above is an honest review seen through my eyes. I am not affiliated with the author in any way. I pray that when you read this book, God will use it to speak into your life.
Staci Stallings freely gives us glimpses into her life in her book, Reflections on Life II ~ Notes from the Journey. In this collection of 82 essays, she writes from her heart and holds nothing back. I was amazed by her transparency and inspired to share more of my own life with others in the same way. Her heart is poured out on paper and her courage to share from her life experiences is a powerful reminder for me to do the same.
Each inspirational short story looks at the different lessons Staci has learned during her walk with God. This book would make a wonderful daily devotional and every article is worth reading. I like how positive and encouraging this book is and plan on sharing a few of these essays with my husband and boys in our evening Bible time together. Staci shares with a gentle graciousness and an honesty that is hard to describe unless you read this book for yourself.
God's love for us even though we fail and fall down time and time again is a theme everyone needs to hear. There are two lines in her book that brought me to my knees in thanksgiving: “Sometimes, there is just no doubt in my mind how much God loves me. It makes me cry.” The other quote is: “God love’s trumps all. It always has. It always does. Let Him forgive you. Let Him love you. That’s all He wants to do.” Amen and amen!
This book is an excellent choice as a way to begin your day with God because the devotional readings are not too short and not too long, but just the right length. This book is packed full of truths and revelations that make me think and vow to be a better Christian.
Please note I was given a free copy of Reflections on Life II ~ Notes from the Journey in exchange for my honest review.
This is a wonderful and personal journey that the author has chosen to share with us. While I read this book I felt as if I was just sitting there with the author and having a nice chat. The author has a way of making you feel as if you are both two friends taking this journey called life together, and are discussing life throughout this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this entire book. I tried to write down my favorite titles but eventually had to stop as they were all quickly becoming my favorites. But a few that stood out are… “They will be done my way” (talks about publishing and writing and that it should be God’s way), “They” (what do “they” know anyway…”God’s way works”), “Wrath of God” (made me realize a few things), “The Anchor” (loved it and the story) and she talked about the “keynote”, (that really got my attention), plus gave me new light to the turning water into wine miracles.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. It’s a really nice book talking about life. This book gets 5 ***** from me without a doubt.
