Even with over 1.5 million copies of my books in print, I still feel like I haven’t written the perfect story. From my office in the woods of Northern Alberta, I’ll keep trying. Inspired by spectacular sunrises, breathtaking Northern Lights and long walks through wooded trails, the stories keep coming. There is plenty of emotion in this story of reconnection and reconciliation. I was frustrated for Tanner that he never had closure after Keira broke up with him. She is obviously struggling to forget issues of the past and her vulnerability is apparent to Tanner. The way they slowly warm up to each other is realistic-it doesn't happen overnight which enhances the tension. I enjoyed their banter once they fell back into a comfortable rapport and they become sweet to each other. The reveal of Kiera's devastating secret throws everyone and creates new decisions to be made. There is definitely more than meets the eye to this story and I couldn't put it down until I finished it :)

(Thank you to Harlequin and Love Inspired Books for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)

Tanner Fortier comes back home to get his brother's saddle repaired, but finds his ex in place of her father in the saddle shop. Keira has come back home after running from Tanner and the actions of his brother David to help her father's business. Can she stand to be around Tanner and his reminders of his brother?

A sweet read, but skims over some very important issues instead of really dealing with them, but then, it's a paperback romance, so quite good for a quick read.

4 STARS

Tanner Fortier is a character who is a hero to admire. He has spent the past year for his step-brother to honor him. I like Keira Bannister too. She is full of secrets. They used to be engaged six years ago. Now Tanner and Keira are both staying at her family ranch for a few weeks. Along with Tanner's step-mother and Keira's parents.

This is full of drama, forgiveness and getting over guilty feelings. It also a clean read. Does mention God, prayer and a scripture.
Plus second chances at romance.

Tanner is a mechanic, rancher and rodeo rider. He has gone back to rodeo and he has dedicated the past year riding with his brother's saddle and wants to win the rodeo finals in a few weeks, but he needs to heal and get the saddle repaired.

Keira has returned home and taken over her fathers business making saddles, and other leather goods. She does not want to work on Tanner's saddle.

I wanted everything to work out for Tanner and Keira. I also want to know more about Keira's brother and sister.

The setting for this is a Montana ranch in November with a heavy snow storm.
I was given this ebook to read from Net Galley and Harlequin. I promised to give a honest review of Her Cowboy hero in return.

I admit that I have only read a few books by CAROLYNE AARSEN, but what I have come to realize is she creates great story lines. I love her plots. She is a wonderful writer, though to be truthful I didn’t connect well with the characters in previous books because I felt the deep point of view was weak. That was the only element I felt missing.

HER COWBOY HERO (REFUGE RANCH) by CAROLYNE AARSEN is well written, and a great story line. In the past I may have had a problem with DPOV in MS AAREN’S stories, but that was not the case in HER COWBOY HERO. I loved the plot. I got a sense of what the main characters secret was, so when she finally revealed it I thought, that better not be it. I will not give away any more for those that have yet to read it.

Keira Bannister never stopped loving Tanner Fortier. When he shows up at her family ranch, she is torn between letting her feelings for him surface and keeping them tampered down…where they belong.

Tanner Fortier knew when he headed home he was risking being hurt all over again. Keira Bannister broke his heart once, he wasn’t sure he had it in him to be around her again, yet he needed answers. Needed to know why she disappeared and never returned his calls

It is safe to say that I am a growing fan of CAROLYNE AARSEN.

A lady saddle maker is the focal point of this tale; the rodeo cowboy who comes to get his saddle repaired didn't realise that she's taken over from her father, working in a ranch outbuilding. They dated several years ago but she left him because of the rodeo circuit lifestyle and his mechanic's job... at least that's the reasons he knows about. There are plenty more depths to this tale, making a fine story as we explore motivations and characters.

I enjoyed the outdoor settings and there is a great sense of place. I am not entirely convinced that the heroine would be looking up the Old Testament every time she faces a dilemma, but this is an inspirational romance so we just accept this method of telling her to forget the past and move forwards. I'll be looking for more from this author.

Refuge Ranch follows the Bannister family. There are three kids, and each is covered in their own book.

In the first book, Keira's story is told. Her ex-fiance, Tanner, has come back to town needing his late brother's saddle fixed in time to rodeo in the nationals, but Keira doesn't want to do it. Seeing Tanner again involves too many memories she thought she'd buried years ago. The problem is, Tanner feels responsible for his brother's death and wants to dedicate his year of rodeoing to him and hopefully find forgiveness from his step-mother.

This book was so good as hard truths are revealed about the past. I saw it coming from a mile away, but it was still interesting to read the final revelation of the past. Tanner and Keira had a lot of chemistry - I loved reading about their romance! the author also did a great job in building up the other two books in this series.

I enjoyed reading Her Cowboy Hero a Refuge Ranch series by Carolyne Aarsen. Two years after his girlfriend, Keira Bannister broke their engagement, Tanner Fortier returns to his home town. His dad passed away and had left the ranch to his second wife. Tanner got nothing even though Tanner's great grandfather stated the ranch. Tanner's dad and step-mom had a son. The step-mom said she was giving it ALL to her son David. David dies in an accident. The step-mom still won't give any of the land to Tanner. Keira has secrets. That has kept her and Tanner apart. A lot goes on in this story that you have to read to find out.

Keira has never told anyone why she broke her engagement to Tanner and moved away from the family ranch, Refuge Ranch. Tanner is a rodeo star trying to fulfill his brother's dream. When his brother's saddle is damaged, Tanner returns to Refuge Ranch to have it repaired by Keira's father. He has never stopped loving Keira. Keira and Tanner must both share and work through facts from the past if they are to have a future together. They have to learn to forgive others and let God forgive them.

I recommend this light romance. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Years have past since Keira Bannister broke off her engagement to Tanner Fortier. Tanner shows up at her home with a saddle he wants repaired and because he feels like they have unfinished business, a broken engagement he never understood why it ended. You soon realize Keira may be hiding something big from Tanner, something from the past. Tanner's stepmother who raised him adds even more confusion for Tanner. Great book thought the author did an excellent job.

I finished this one within a few days. I loved the heroine, especially how she took over her father's leather making business and handled herself. She was strong even while she was sad.

I liked how there was a secret. It wasn't immediate what the secret was and that kept me reading, too.

I feel sorry for people like Alice.

In the end, healing was the top message. Good.
