Another great book by Merillee Whren! This book is the first book in the Village of Hope series. Annie has had a tough past and is trying to better herself so she can get custody of her kids back. Will Ian her ex-husband and Annie grow back together? This storyline was great and kept me reading from beginning to end. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this story of forgiveness and putting your life back together after it falling totally apart! Annie fell victim to addictions and after losing her two children, she decided to change her life. It wasn't easy to go into recovery but she's making progress. I found this to be very courageous on her part. This story showed the difficulties on Annie's part. It wasn't a cake walk! Although she grew up in an affluent household, her parents were emotionally unavailable, and she turned to drugs and alcohol. Not an excuse but you see that happening a lot over and over in society. She got married young to Ian but that marriage fell apart. When Annie goes to the Village of Hope (a recovery place) and finds out Ian is her lawyer, both of them must confront the past. At first, I thought Ian was the father of her 2 kids but that wasn't the case. Ian does still feel betrayed by Annie, and it takes a while for him to overcome those feelings! I enjoyed Ian's parents a lot and their acceptance of Annie once again. Annie's parents were a work in progress, but I liked the finished product! The whole book was a nice reminder of what can happen when God helps you through forgiveness!

Annie’s Hope was a heartwarming story of a woman who was finally seeing success in overcoming the addictions which had controlled her for so many years. She now had to try to gain custody of her two young children and stay focused on the Lord to help her stay clean.

I thought the author did a good job of creating tangible tension between Annie and Ian. There was distrust and hurt that Ian carried for Annie, yet he did want her to succeed in reclaiming her children and staying clean. I really liked the support that Annie found in Ian’s parents and the many ways it was clear that Annie truly was doing well with her recovery.

The romantic attraction that began to build between these two who had once been high school sweethearts felt very realistic to me, as did Ian’s fear of giving his heart to Annie again. The tangle of emotions that these two experienced on their road to getting to know and trust each other again were well written.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This was the first in a series and it is another great book by Merrillee Whren. Annie has had her share of problems. She used to party and had a problem with substance abuse. She has lost her two children and is trying get her life back on track. Her main goal is to straighten out, get her children back and be the best mother she can be to them.

When she enters The Village of Hope where they will help her straighten her life out she runs into her ex-husband Ian. They had a lot of problems that they will have to work through. Annie and Ian have to learn about forgiveness before things begin to work out for them.

It was a great book and I think you will like it if you would take a few minutes to sit down and get started. This is one of those books once you pick it up, you just can't put it down. I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Annie Payton wasted her life and her last hope and it brings her to the Village of Hope. She needs help to regain her children and was told attorney could help her. When she meets him it shocks her.
Redemption, lots of forgiveness, and danger bring about hope for Annie. Ian is not the father of her children but he ends up spending a lot of time with them. Ian is her ex-husband and attorney.
God brings good out of chaos.
Merrillee's books will draw you in and are hard to put down.

It is always nice to read the first book in a new series by this author. It reminds me of a spring day as flowers start to bloom. It is a reminder of a new beginning like Annie is hoping for in this story. I love the theme of the book which illustrates forgiveness, second chances and hope for a future . I loved the faith that was spread throughout the book as we witness how God can change people and show them grace and unconditional love.

Annie has had a hard life overcoming addiction. It is hard once that stigma is placed on you. People will remember you as an ex-addict and some will not trust you. Annie is praying that she can get her children back and have a fresh start in life. The Village of Hope is where Annie begins her journey. She has a place to live, a job and a lawyer to help her with regaining custody of her children. There is one little obstacle. Her ex-husband works as a lawyer at The Village of Hope.

Ian was brought up as a preacher’s kid which can be difficult at times. I know the pressure that puts on children because I was a preacher’s kid as well. It seems like I was under a microscope with people waiting for me to do something wrong. Ian followed Annie down the trail of addiction when they were young and married. His life has now changed, but will he give Annie a chance to prove she has changed? He has memories of their past and his emotions are hard to contain. The word trust and Annie don’t go together in Ian’s mind.

Something that really spoke to me in the story was how Annie continually worried if she was strong enough to stay sober and if she would ever gain Ian’s trust. I loved when Ian told her, “Don’t think about trouble. Think about the good things God has given you today.” I needed to hear that myself. I become so focused on what could happen that I forget to thank God for the things that he has done for me. Annie needs to stop living in the past and become confident of who she is now.

I hope you have plenty of tissues as you read the book. The author reaches deep into our hearts and shows us how God can save us. We may go through trials but He will never leave us. Annie has made mistakes but one person took the time to minister to her. Those words spoken to her changed her life. As I was nearing the end of the book, I had to wipe tears away as I witnessed how God used Annie during a very dangerous situation. Her compassion showed as she herself shared with someone how their life could change if they gave theirselves to God. I witnessed miracles of reconciliation, forgiveness and best of all God’s mercy.

I am excited for this series and can’t wait to read the next book coming out. This book goes on my favorite books for 2022. Thank you to the author for reminding me that nothing is impossible for God.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Annie Payton’s a changed woman and only wants to re-gain custody of her two small children. She finds herself at the Village of Hope, a ministry facility that helps people of all ages and walks of life to get back on their feet. She knows what a mess she’s made of her life & is determined to stay clean, sober and be the mom she should have been for her kids.
Ian Montgomery is a lawyer & helps run the Village of Hope. He’s being asked to represent Annie in court to help her with the custody case, but there are too many deep wounds for him to even consider taking it on.

This is a story that deals with past issues of divorce, addictions, living a party lifestyle, relapse & deceit. The characters aren’t without their share of regret, especially Annie. She knows she’s messed up in the past and has a lot to prove to herself, her kids, Ian, and those around her. Ian, too, has regrets for leading her into the life they used to live. And he’s been hurt more than once by her broken promises.

This is also a story of God’s redemption, healing wounded hearts and lives, forgiveness and restoration. Both Ian and Annie have truly given their lives to the Lord, walking in His grace and mercy. They have a lot to work through and it’s plainly not an easy task! The more they spend time together, the more you see God work in their hearts. Can Ian see the woman of God Annie has become and can Annie finally walk in the freedom that only God can give?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Merrillee touches on some hard issues and doesn’t sugar coat the results of sin in someone’s life. But more to the point, she shows how God’s forgiveness and grace can change that person from the inside out. There was so much spiritual depth in this; I felt I came away a changed person myself! It made me even more grateful for God’s salvation for me. I got to know some wonderful side characters and loved seeing them cheer for both Ian & Annie. A Village of Hope should be in every city because you can see the good it does for so many lives in this story! I can’t wait to read the next installment “Healing the Soldier’s Heart” and the rest of this series. If you like inspirational stories that deal with real life issues and redemption, this is the one for you!

When you reach rock-bottom, there’s nowhere to go but ‘up,’ right? Annie Payton has made serious past mistakes, abusing alcohol and drugs and stealing money to pay for those habits. After losing her children to social services, she starts to get her life back on track, completing a year-long rehab and doing whatever it takes to win back custody of her children. But the past still lingers and even those who are helping her at Village of Hope seem to have their doubts; especially ex-husband Ian who is representing her in the custody case. Annie, doesn’t want to fail, but past memories of failure and guilt plague her. Can she achieve redemption and make a new life?
As much as this is a love story, it is also a story of redemption and forgiveness. People make mistakes. People are hurting from their mistakes and from the mistakes of others. Where can you find peace? I love this story because it shows how God is the answer to those seeking redemption, forgiveness, and the strength to move past their mistakes and start fresh each day. No one is perfect, but in Christ all can be made new.
I actually read book 2 of the Village of Hope series first (I won it from and author giveaway), and as much as I enjoyed that story, I found Second Chance Reunion to have more depth and meaning for me personally. The author Ms. Whren does an excellent job of showing how faith can help you overcome the worst circumstances one day at a time. I loved the slow reconciliation between Annie and Ian and the forgiveness that each needed to give and receive from each other. Kara and Spencer are adorable children and, Kara especially, livens up the story with her antics. This is a sweet faith-filled read and I am looking forward to reading book 3, Dating the Millionaire, in the Village of Hope series. Well done, Ms. Whren!
One final note, I love, love, love the idea of a Village of Hope. I wish my own community had something like this to offer the elderly who many need assisted living or nursing care, abused women and children, and those who are in need of a helping hand.

When I read the preview for ANNIE’S HOPE , I knew it was going to be an emotional story and I knew it was going to make me cry. I had no idea I would be sobbing and be an emotional wreck after finishing it. All of Merrillee’s characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. Annie is really trying to put her life back together after losing everything to addiction. She has accepted the lord in her life and has gone through rehabilitation.

Merrillee’s latest book, ANNIE’S HOPE is the story of Annie and the life changing decisions she makes. She is now living a clean life after losing her husband and two children to her party life. She has made many mistakes in the past and is trying to get her children back from Child Services. She needs help! Enter Ian, a lawyer who is going to help her with her custody case. Oh, did I mention Ian is also her ex husband? Ian has so much hurt and anger towards Annie and she really tries to break through the walls that Ian has put up to protect his heart. They both still love each other but neither one of them wants to admit it and definitely not act on it. Hang on tight readers!

While ANNIE’S HOPE is focused on the lives and problems involving Annie and Ian, it also shows the stories of the secondary characters. There is a lot happening. Needless to say, the story brings a strong emotional response. So keep the tissues handy. ANNIE’S HOPE will stay with you for a long time after you finish reading it. I have no idea when I will be able to read another book, but right now I can’t stop thinking about this one. There were several times I found myself desperately wanting to keep reading, to find out what would happen next, but I was afraid to turn the page, scared of the possible fates awaiting these characters. Merrillee Whren has a magical way of telling dramatic stories about women, faith, forgiveness, and family.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from CelebrateLit. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I don't always read the synopsis on the back of books, a lot of the time I read it after the first chapter or so. So going into this book and seeing a new start for a young mother who is bound and determined to get her kids back after becoming clean and sober is what I was expecting. However, what a surprise I got to find out that the lawyer assigned to her is her ex-husband. Wow, that was a doozy.

Anna and Ian got married at a young age and made many mistakes before, during, and after their marriage. Both were looking for acceptance anywhere since neither really received it at home. Now some years later both Anna and Ian have gotten on the right track. Anna would like to regain custody of her children, whose father is an old boyfriend. The Village of Hope is a center to help people in all walks of life to begin anew. Anna is very thankful to have been given a second chance to start over.

Ian is still nursing some old wounds from his relationship with Anna, along with a secret he has been keeping. However, he loves the Village and wants to see it succeed and help as many people as it can. The Village is having some financial problems and others on Ian's team think Anna with her financial background will be a great asset to help keep the Village open. Ian is not so sure if Anna can be trusted. I think his hurt was still blinding him, which was understandable, and he wasn't sure he wanted to work so closely with her.

Ian and Anna realize their feelings for one another have never truly gone away. But how can they overcome all the obstacles between them? I thought this book really showed the providence of God and how miracles are ripe to happen when all looks dark and when people choose to forgive, watch out.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

It is far too easy to become caught up in today’s world of drugs and free flowing alcohol. Annie’s Hope offers us a window into the life of Annie Payton and her determination to remain clean.

The story begins with Annie’s arrival at the Village of Hope, a Christian center where people can come for shelter from abuse, to get back on their feet after going through rehab, or reside in an assisted living facility. In addition, the shelter offers legal services which Annie desperately needs in order to help win back her children. However, upon realizing that Annie is his ex-wife, board member and Village of Hope attorney Ian Montgomery arranges for someone else to represent her.

The Village is in dire financial trouble and needs someone to help them find a way to stay afloat. Annie’s background as a financial consultant catches the attention of others, and they recommend that she be hired on a temporary basis to see if she can help find a way to save the program. Ian is more than a little reluctant for this to happen as he remembers her as being an untrustworthy addict but is finally convinced that they should give Annie a chance and ask for help.

I found it easy to be caught up in the details of Annie’s life and feel the struggles that both she and Ian (also a former addict) go through as they fight the demons of the past and find a way to face the future. But will that future continue with them on separate paths or will they somehow find a way to learn to trust each other again?

This is a compelling story and I encourage readers to step into the lives of Annie and Ian and see where this second chance at love will take them.

Annie’s Hope is a re-release of book which I originally purchased under a different title. This review has been updated to reflect the new name. All opinions here are my own.

I truly enjoy Christian Romance books and Merrillee Whren is a great author for this genre. I have read a couple of her other books and enjoyed them. Annie's Hope is Book 1 in the Village of Hope series. I enjoy reading books that are a part of a series, especially when I start at Book 1.

Annie Payton has worked really hard to overcome her addiction and now she has one more step to make her life whole. She is trying to gain custody of her children, that was under others' care during her Rehab. The Village of Hope, which is a Christian facility to help those going through rehab or even those escaping abusive situations, has assigned her a lawyer. The Lawyer happens to be her ex-husband, Ian Montgomery. Ian is also a former Addict, but he has completely changed his life around and now helps others. Annie and Ian had a painful relationship and Ian isn't too sure if he wants to help Annie and isn't sure he will tell the Village of Hope that Annie is his ex-wife. Annie feels she needs to prove to Ian that she has also changed and not only wants her children back but still is in love with Ian. Will Ian represent Annie in court to help her gain custody of her kids? Will there be a Second Chance Romance between Ian and Annie?

WOW, this was a page-turner from the very first Chapter. Annie Payton is a strong woman who conquered so much, especially her addiction. Ian Montgomery is a wonderful character in the book. I really appreciate how they both examined their past life and it helped them make decisions for the future, both individually and also as a couple. I love how Ian had to be honest with himself before agreeing to help Annie. This book is one of Forgiveness, Taking Chances, and Second Chance at Romance. The book is faith-based and is a heartwarming Romance Story. WONDERFUL BOOK!

As the first book in The Village of Hope Series, Annie’s Hope introduces us to Annie Payton and her ex-husband, Ian Montgomery. Annie arrives at the Village of Hope as a step on the road to getting her children back after a stay in a substance abuse facility. When she realizes her ex-husband will be representing her in court, things take a turn. At first, it appeared Ian may not be able to accept that God changed her life. But as the story progresses, the two come together for her children and for the village itself.

As a facility designed to help those who need second chances and more, the staff of The Village of Hope helps bring this story to life. From Ian’s parents to Annie’s parents to various residents of the community, I loved seeing how God can change someone’s heart, and give them a second chance at love, family, a chance to minister, and more. Oh, I also need to add, I loved getting to know Annie’s children and how Ian and his parents became part of their lives.

While this is the first book in the series, I know I will be reading more. I want to learn more about the characters in this book and the community. It would be the type of place I would want to support financially.

So if you enjoy books filled with faith, family, forgiveness, and second chances, check out this book for yourself. I definitely recommend it.

I just love a second chance story (especially when it’s the first book of a new series!) God gives us hope and helps us through all life’s difficulties. This is evident in the story, Annie’s Hope.

Annie Payton’s life is a bit problematic, and things become even more complicated when she arrives at The Village of Hope, a Christian place of healing after rehab. Her ex-husband, Ian, is a board member and attorney at The Village of Hope. But Annie’s faith could change all that.

These two main characters are easy to connect with and I empathized with their struggles. Their relationship, both in the past and present, is thorny, yet I wanted them to make things right. Annie seeks forgiveness, Ian struggles with trust, but change and faith can soften the wrongs.

This is an inspirational transformation story of faith, trust, healing, and second chances.

First Line: Doubts crowded Annie Payton’s mind as she paced in front of the windows looking out on The Village of Hope’s campus.
Series: The Village of Hope, book 1
Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance
Author: Merrillee Whren
Page Count: 253

Annie’s Hope is written by Merrillee Whren. One of the things that I love about this author is the fact that she touches on subjects that others will shy away from. The subjects are difficult, but she does a great job in reminding us the power of God's forgiveness and Grace.

Annie has had a rough past. She is divorced and is trying to regain custody of her children. She is finally trying to get herself together, but former addicts always carry that stigma. When she goes to the Village of Hope to get assistance from a lawyer, the lawyer happens to be her ex husband, Ian.

Ian is not so thrilled to see Annie. He does not know if he wants or can help her. He had left his life of substance abuse behind. He also is a son of a preacher, and feels he has lived his life under a microscope. I loved watching the two of these characters navigate the past hurts.

Make sure you have tissues handy, you will need them. The author has crafted an amazing story that will remind you that God is so good, ALL THE TIME. The characters are well written, the story line is unforgettable.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

I love Merrilee Whren, and I think this has got to be one of my favorite's of her book's. The first in her new Village of Hope series. I am already looking forward to the upcoming books in the series. I really enjoyed this story. So heartwarming, hopeful, yet realistic. I really liked BOTH the Hero, Ian Montgomery and Annie Payton. This story was a little different, in that, Annie and Ian were married before, until drugs got in the way and destroyed their marriage. I loved how strong they were. They picked themselves up, rededicated themselves to God, made a new healthy, sober, God filled lives. Annie's kid's from an ex after Ian, Kara and Spencer were adorable. I liked how Ms. Whren made it realistic and had lil Spencer have a hard time, as the youngest, readjusting to being back with his Mom. I liked how Ian helped, and the bond he had with Kara and Spencer. I liked Melody. I loved everyone in the village. I am so glad Annie and her parents reunited. There was even a bit of drama and danger, courtesy of Annie's ex. The kid's birth father, I can't wait to find out what happens to the other residents of The Village of Hope. A Merrilee Whren WINNER!

Annie's Hope, by Merrillee Whren is a heartwarming story of second chances. This is the first book in the Village of Hope Series. This contemporary Christian story is wonderfully written. When Annie loses her children she turns to rehab to straighten out her life. Following rehab she enters Village of Hope and works to get her life and children back. The person she is directed to is her ex-husband who does not trust her.

I just love this story. It is all about forgiveness and second chances in life and love. When Annie enters the Village of Hope it is to help herself and children, but she ends up helping the Village of Hope just as much as they help her. I just love her character. Her loving, caring personality is very evident. She is so pleasant to the elderly. While Ian is hesitant to trust Annie and does not want to rekindle any relationship with her, he is there to help when she is needed. This is a great heartwarming story, just perfect to curl up with.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

Annie’s Hope is a novel that delves into hard topics and does it with grace and thoughtfulness. I’m not an addict but I know people who have been. Annie wants to get her kids back. She made bad choices and had a drug problem. But now she’s clean and wants her kids back and to make it up to them.

Annie heard about a place that could help her with her goal. The only problem is that the lawyer she’s paired with is her ex-husband. Yeap. Talk about awkwardness.

Can what begins as awkward and neither party wanting to be with the other grow into more? This is a great story with Christian values. I enjoyed reading it. Let me know if you get a chance to read it and what your thoughts are.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I got this book in a giveaway, and am very glad I did. Annie comes to the Village of Hope to try and rebuild her life after rehab. Her first priority is to get her kids back! She is shocked to see that Ian, her ex-husband, is the lawyer there. Ian isn’t sure he can trust that Annie has really changed for good. She hasn’t before.

I liked the fact that Annie had tried to get sober more than once before. I think that’s how it is for so many of us when we try to change, whether the change is big or small. We don’t always get it right the first time, but if we keep trying, we’ll get there with God’s help. Ian showed, however, that lasting change could happen the first time. I was glad Merrillee represented both. I also liked watching Ian recognize the changes in Annie. There were many other things I liked as well! :)

This is the first book I’ve read of Merrillee’s, but not the last!

Annie is hoping that her life can get back on track. She has been through a troublesome time that included an addiction, a failed marriage and having her children taken away from her due to her life choices. She is on a good path now, and wants to continue to live her life in the right way and hopefully be able to get her children back with her. Ian and Annie have a past relationship that no one knows about. He has a story in his past, too, and some of that story included Annie. He wants to trust her, but, can he? This story reminds us that we all have sinned, but, there is forgiveness in Christ. There can be forgiveness of each other, too. God has a plan for each of us and sometimes, He allows our life experiences to influence others while changing our own ways, too. This is a book full of God's grace and forgiveness. I enjoyed this story.

Annie has been through so much, a failed marriage to Ian due to substance abuse and betrayal, a second relationship that included two children and those children being taken away because of continued substance abuse. Annie wants to get her children back.

She comes to Village of Hope to get her life back on track and hopefully be reunited with her children. The resident lawyer that ends up taking her case is none other than Ian, her former husband, and the very one that turned her in to the DFCS (Division of Family and Children Services).

Can Annie prove to Ian that she really has changed? Will Annie be able to get her children back? Will Annie and Ian be able to work through their past hurts and possibly have a 2nd chance at love? Read a Second Chance Reunion by Merrillee Whren to find out.

Annie's Hope, previously published as Second Chance Reunion, is the first book from Merrillee Whren’s The Village of Hope series. I adored this story of hope and second chances. The characters are true to life and ones that can easily be relatable for many readers. I love watching Annie and Ian grow throughout and learning about their past mistakes and how they were able to redeem themselves. I really enjoyed reading their tale.

I am giving Annie's Hope a very well deserved five plus stars. Fans of clean contemporary romance will not want to miss out on reading this one. I am ready to read the second installment from the The Village of Hope series to see what happens next.

I received a digital copy of Annie's Hope from the author, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
