It takes courage to write your truest of truths, but it takes bravery to let it go. I loved the way her story of this particular era in her life was woven between prose and poetry and metaphors that paint canvasses of a life that my heart leaps and aches just the same.

This is Chelsie’s second book. Like the first I bought it immediately. Lovers has short stories and poems woven in. I like how she chose to order her poems carefully and the stories of specific lovers stand out very strong. The cover is beautiful. I love her development from how her about me has changed since her first poetry book. I also am a student of her class, Poems and Power, and it blows me away that she had these profoundly emotional experiences and never once missed a flight or a class. She always shows up for women.

I think because I’ve read a lot of her work and heard many of her stories, I found myself remembering these poems. It was nice to learn where some of the lines came from, however, I would have loved a few more newer pieces.

I guess I’ll have to wait for her next book. Well done!

I couldn’t put this down. Equally heartbreaking as it is beautiful, so many of the poems sucker punched me right in the gut. I resonated with so many of the words and like Chelsie’s previous book and basically everything she puts out into the world - she has a magic way of making you feel like you’re not alone. Like there’s another out there that is going through the rollercoaster of emotions just like you.

Couldn’t put my pen down after either and wrote and wrote for a solid two hours after reading. So reader beware, inspiration will strike so pick your timing wisely if you don’t want to stay up half the night writing.

Chelsie never disappoints! The short stories were my favorite i think. Because they give somewhat of a backstory to the poems. I feel like i know much more about her now than i did before. Read both of her books! Take her poetry classes! You won’t regret it.

I loved this book so much and inhaled it in just a couple days. Chelsie is brave enough to say exactly what she feels - unapologetically and loud. Her passion is unmatched.

I started to devour these words as if I were a hungry bear foraging for food, and then I had to put the book down for a few days and come back to it. It needed to be savored.
These words are delicious. They pour into your soul and leave you aching, feeling, commiserating, needing, feeling understood, on fire, purely elated at the experience of being a reader.
If you love words, if you need words like breathing- this book, this author- is for you.
