Gertrude Dénise is rootless, divorced and floating. Trying to decide if she wants adventure or a stable safe home life, “Gertie” has resolved to try a little bit of everything. Perhaps she missed out on something marrying young. Or maybe she’s never known what she wants.

David 'Buck' Buckingham is the recently-appointed Sergeant At Arms for the Red Rebels Motorcycle Club. Steadfast, steady and dependable, made to fulfil every duty that patch on his kutte requires. As much as he can be counted on, he has a soft spot for a certain hazel-eyed redhead who proves to be much more unpredictable.

Buck is another new experience. Gertie is an entertaining contradiction. Buck knows he could be a danger to her, but his lifestyle might not be the biggest threat to the woman who is starting to mean more and more to him.

Contains sex, violence, drug use. All the fun stuff and the not-so-fun stuff.

I really really really enjoyed this one! At this point I am convinced the authors of FCP can't write a bad book! I love how their stories are so honest and real and their characters seem to own their flaws.

NOTE: I recommend you read INDULGE & EXPOSE back to back to get a complete picture of this relationship.

5 "Always light each other up..." Stars

Indulge stands as my first C.D. Breadner novel. Irene and I decided to take a trip around the world of The Freak Circle Press authors and we started with the Red Rebels MC out of Markham, CA.

Breadner wrote a very strong story to start this series. These characters crawled into mind, staying there for the duration. Real life cut into my reading but never deterred me from casually thinking about Breadner's characters, Gertie & Buck, wondering where this author would drive the plot.

Toggling between present day and the past period of time when Gertie & Buck first met, each of those time periods being driven forward by the choices made by both Gertie & Buck the reader is thrust into the nitty gritty of the Red Rebels and the chaos surrounding their MC. I really enjoyed the author telling us this story in this fashion. We see where they've ended up with only clues to how they got there throughout never detracting from us wanting to really find out what happened in their story.

Gertie's story majorly makes up Indulge focusing on the flaws and weaknesses of this woman and the anticipation of her redemption from the choices she's made. She always owns her choices, defends them the best she can never crying "woe is me". Her strength in moving forward in the present day makes her most redeeming. Buck makes choices based on the little information Gertie's given him. He's loyal to his club and those he cares about most. If there's a man in an MC you'd want to meet, David "Buck" Buckingham is one of these men. He knows what he wants and sets about getting it in a typical alpha MC way.

Meeting the other men and women of the MC proved fun as well. First and foremost starting with Tank, who I can't wait to meet next. Even the villains in Indulge were fun to read thanks to Breadner's vivid character depictions.

Were there times I wished Gertie made better decisions? Of course. But I'm sympathetic to her plight and the decisions she made because she was doing what she saw as the most selfless; protecting those closest to her when in actuality she was creating major vulnerabilities.

This story is gritty and raw dealing with very difficult subject matter at times. This isn't a light romance, it's a rough motorcycle club member falling in love with a woman who's lost herself becoming dependent on the wrong things. It's tough yet so satisfying while you're reading. If you're a fan of dark, MC romance become acquainted with the Red Rebels of Markham.

My rating: 4.5

Indulge carries the reader on the journey Gertie and Buck travel as their relationship and love progresses. Gertie is middle 30’s, upper class, divorced, has an alcoholic mother, a daddy’s girl but daddy is a criminal on the run from illegal hedge fund scams. Her family could be the poster for the term “dysfunctional.” Buck is your typical bad ass Sargent at Arms for the Rebels MC. But he has a softer side to him and is confident in himself. The story centers around Gertie’s struggles and Buck’s support of her. This romance is not about fluff and focuses on some dark, gritty issues such as alcoholism, drug abuse, self-image issues and trust. Gertie is in the wrong place at the wrong time and draws Buck’s attention. He is attracted to her quirky, eccentric personality and of course her beauty. As he gets to know her better he sees her life is basically screwed up and she has a lot of issues. He tries to stay away but keeps coming back to her. The love develops over time and at times Buck wants to just walk away but he keeps hanging. There’s drama, suspense and violence in the book. Once I started reading the book I couldn’t stop even though at times I was so mad with Gertie I could have slapped her. Other times my heart broke for her. In the end, she finally ends up in rehab and has become independent. Buck expresses his love for her and admits she is far more important to him than the club.
The book does not end in a cliff hanger. The H/h have resolved their differences, know they love each other but the h wants a little more time before they move back in together. She's been through rehab and is getting her life in order. So IMO it was an acceptable conclusion to the book and I know that we will see more of the H/h in the next books. The ending does do a pretty good set up for more books in the series and this book is definitely not a cliff hanger. But you have to read the whole book to understand the ending and accept it. You have to fight the battles with them through the book for this one.
I loved all of the secondary characters in the book and look forward to the next one in the series. I’m thinking that I will also get to see more of Buck and Gertie then. This book touched my heart and my emotions to the core. I love this author’s writing style and her ability to drag me into the characters’ lives and wring so many emotions from me.

C.D. Breadner is a friend and fellow member of the Freak Circle Press.

As other reviews have said, Indulge is first and foremost Gertie’s story. And Gertie is a mess. The poor girl spirals totally out of control and hits a grimy, debasing, literally torturous bottom before she’s ready to climb back out into the sunshine. Breadner takes us vividly down with her, and then brings us back up again.

Gertie is deeply flawed, and she caves in to weakness, but that is not to say that she is weak. At her core, she has tremendous strength, the kind required to climb, alone, out of a pit so dark and bleak.

She makes the climb alone because she has to, but Buck is there for her at the top—and he would have done anything to catch her as she was falling, if she’d only have let him.

Buck is a wonderful male lead—a gorgeous (of course) bad boy who’s not really bad. He’s strong and patient, embracing his feelings for Gertie without dithering about whether he’s good enough for her or whether his violent life will bring her down. Ironically, and in a great twist on the genre, it’s Gertie’s life that almost brings him down.

But their love is real and true, and tests and trials can only strengthen that which is real.

The Red Rebels MC is an awesome club full of interesting, funny, so-bad-they’re-good characters, and I can’t wait to read about more of them.

Indulge is emotionally spine tingling with a heavy dose of truth. With how it ended makes a reader wonder if there will be a sequel. I sincerely hope there will, as there are too many unresolved issues. C.D. Breadner did a fantastic job showing the darker, less glamorous world of MC biker clubs. She didn't romanticize which is often portrayed, instead you got to read the gritty behind the scene ugliness. So is this worthy of a five star read? No....its worth ten, that's in my humblest opinion! Damn sure a recommended goodread to any hardcore biker fan. But wait its not for the faintest of hearts. If you have triggers with substance abuse, rape (not sugar coated kind either) physical brutality read no further, cause this book isn't for you. With all that being said, onto the review! Spoiler alert.....spoiler alert...spoiler alert!
So farewell hope, and with hope farewell fear,Farewell remorse: all good to me is lost;
Evil be thou my Good. John Milton:Paradise Lost

Gertie wasn't your run of the mill bad girl, nope she's an older sophisticated woman. Working for an insurance company and living a nice quiet life. Hard work and perseverance guaranteed she wouldn't be anything like her mother.

Buck comes from the wrong side of the tracks! The Sargent at arms knows what it means to be a criminal, it was the MC that saved him.

what happens to these two, is like watching two cars playing chicken. You want to say "Get out of the fuckin way, you idiot" But neither one does! So strap on your seat belt you're in for one hell of a ride

Gertie, a divorced, 30-year-old, from a wealthy family, and boring homebody, is on a downward spiral. She meets Maggie and has an early mid-life crisis. Until she meets Buck. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to Buck, he becomes Gertie's game changer.

Buck is a little older than Gertie and part of an MC. He's a mechanic, did a little jail time, is the SAA of his MC, and helps run the strip club and motel. The club also deals in other things for money yet they don't want drugs in their town. They however have no problem with weed, just don't sell it on their streets or in their territory.

Buck spots Gertie at a rough club and ends up semi saving her from an ordeal. They run into each other again a while later where he rescues her, before rescuing Gertie a third time from her family, who she's not overly in love with. From their they build up an addiction to each other. Besides Buck constantly saving her hide, and sex being another big factor for each other, drugs is the deciding factor that really brings these two together. You see, Buck wants her to keep him posted on who's selling drugs and the dangerous homemade "Oxy" on her city streets, as he's figured out Gertie can possibly get him the info he needs. And from there, with her father's issues, the rival MCs, the drugs, jealously, and eventually the mob... life starts to unravel for this couple.

Buck will need to make some tough choices and Gertie will need to figure out tough love and life choices. There will be fall outs, betrayals, lies, secrets, and finally consequences.

what I loved:
1. Dual povs
2. Lots of different elements and layers going on in this story.
3. Told from the NOW and BACK THEN perspective. The story keeps you on your toes alternating between the present to back 12 months earlier.
4. Even though this book has a lot of the same
MC stereo typical BS going on... this story still was different and felt more original from all other MC books.
6. Good pacing for a 66 chapter book.

Don't cheat and look at the end first or any chapters before the end... It won't make sense and it will confuse you.

I still have some questions of what:
the MC will do next
more closure with Gertie and Buck's future
Jayce and Trinny
Sherrif Downey... Is there something going on with her and someone in the MC??

I look forward to finding out what will happen in the second book. (No information as of yet when that is.)

Content: lots of drug use. physical abuse. alcohol use. lots of sexual content. foul language. rape.

I was given an ARC, under the working title of "Gertie". While "Indulge" is a very fitting name for this book in many ways, it truly is a story about Gertie.

Having never read an MC novel, not even really knowing that it was a defined genre, I began what I thought would be an easy beach read while on holidays. I soon discovered this novel is so much more complex and involved than my expectations. It taxed my emotions, and brought me to tears. At one point, I had to stop for three stiff drinks before continuing. I turned its plot points over in my head as I slept. This one really got under my skin.

While the plot is solid, and plausible, I enjoyed that it wasn't so much about the inner workings of the MC, or Buck, the MC hero, if you will. This story is all about Gertie. And what I REALLY liked was that our main character doesn't get "saved". Sometimes, complete obliteration is what it takes to begin rebuilding. And unfortunately for Gertie, that's the path this author has chosen for her.

This novel is beautifully written. It's descriptive imagery enabled me to lose myself into places and events I will never encounter in my lifetime. The backstories of the characters are well presented, and the parallel stories (the BC and AD of Gertie's obliteration, if you will) was maybe a stroke of genius. I'm usually not a fan of time-jumps in books, but in this novel it really works, and I can only imagine the level of difficulty it took to get everything to come together in the end - which is does, perfectly.

Sex (HOT Sex), drugs, alcohol, addiction, torture, rape... the topics in this book are not for the faint of heart; it's no Harlequin Romance. But it's real, it's intriguing, and it's a walk on the wrong side of the tracks for a hockey mom like me. It was not an easy beach read, but for that I am glad. It was so much more meaningful than that.

I sincerely hope this turns into a long-running series.

I'm not at all surprised that another wonderful story comes out of The Freak Circle Press Authors. This is my first book by this particular author and although it was a bit slow for me in the beginning it held my interest and picked up quickly. The writing style of using the present and past day to bring the story together is becoming a favorite of mine.

I really enjoyed where she took the MC relationship. I was gasping and shaking my head no!! when Gertie found herself in some horrific situations after doing some wrong things for all the right reasons and Buck being hit in the face with Brotherhood/Family or new love.

What I liked most about this story was the ending. It wasn't overly gushy over the moon riding off into the sunset HEA. It's more real life for someone who is trying to find her grounding after overcoming some very dark troubled times and a couple feeling their way to rebuilding their relationship and trusting again.

Even if the are no longer the MC's I hope to read more about their relationship as the series progresses.

It started out really awesome. I was sucked in and couldn't put it down. But somewhere along the line, the drugs started playing a bigger part of the story and that bugged me. I'm not into drugs, never have been...and they're not my preferred thing to read about. But as they took over Gertie's life, the enjoyment of this book fell. It actually got to the point that I disliked her, lost all respect for her and she was a trial to read. She went through a lot and even though I didn't care about her at that point, she didn't deserve it.

My favorite part of the book was definitely Gertie's friend Brady. He was only in it for a short time near the end but he was awesome.

I think the author has talent, and I'd be willing to check out her books in the future but this one won't be a reread for me.

I have to be honest and state that getting used to the name 'Gertie' wasn't easy. It's just not a sexy name! Once I got into the story (told between present-time and the past which led up to what is now happening); I got used to the name and actually came to understand the woman with such an old fashioned name.
Anyway; Gertie comes from a past which fed-into her deep-seated sense of being unlovable. She masks her feelings with booze, and recreational drugs. She's not smart about it but it's her emotional pain that drives her to be foolish. She's actually a very book-intelligent woman with a career to show for it; although not the career of her choosing but that which was expected of her. She abhors her alcoholic mother and yet she is turning out to be her mother in many ways. She adores her father who is anything but the loving, caring, parent he's fooled her into thinking he is. When she meets Buck of the Red Rebels MC; she's intrigued - as is Buck. Takes a bit of time for them to get together but they do and it's combustion of the hottest kind!

Enter the Demon-Rum (so to speak) and it takes some time (after much denial) for Buck to figure out that his woman has a problem with booze and pills. Little does he know but her problems are so much deeper than he can see, or feel. Gotta hand it to a man who sticks by a woman's side even though she gives him lots of reasons to leave. This is when the real trouble starts.

It's very dark at times. It's gritty. It's difficult to read and comprehend what happens with our poor Gertie. One thing about her however; is her strength. I guess you could say this is Gertie's story and most definitely her triumph over what she does, what's done to her, and how she can stop being destructive to herself, and others. She does overcome. I wanted to rip-up the men who would hurt her in order to get what they feel was their due. I would have liked for Buck to hunt down 'Thor' and give the beast what Buck has waiting for him BUT maybe that is in a book further down the line in this series? In this book we get a lot of Gertie but we don’t for a second forget that it is an MC book. It’s very much about the RED REBELS MC!

What I finally got from this book is not only a love story but that of two people who managed to find each other and be able to come back together in spite of everything that went down in the interim. I'd also like for them to have their 'epilogue chapter' and I feel a bit anxious about not having that last chapter telling of their HEA - BUT - that may be for another book down the road......this reader can only hope. I do like the ending though; it’s hopeful. They know they are meant to end of together and Buck has the patience to wait for his lady to be ready. He has no intention of being with anyone but Gertie and Gertie knows Buck is her man. They are wise enough to know that the healing has to be complete first. That being the healing that has to happen after such horrific happenings of the past. I don’t want to put in spoilers so read this story and you’ll know what I mean.

I also want to know about Jayce and Trinny. Do they make it back together? TANK - big guy needs a story too. Also: Sheriff Downey - she needs some interaction with one of the MC guys! I absolutely loved Brady who became Gertie's GBF (gay best friend). I hope he, his partner Greg and the Tattoo Shop show up in further books. There are so many wonderful characters in this story.....and some real sleazy bad guys who I hope get what they deserve down the road in this MC series.

This is a story I'll keep and reread for years to come. It made me think. It made me cringe. It made me laugh and shed tears. It takes a talented writer to write any story worth reading but it takes an exceptional writer to create a story that makes the reader 'feel' emotions for the story-line and its characters. C.D. Breadner is one such writer and this story is quite an achievement.

Recommended highly but be warned that this is not a fluffy romance but a gritty story leading to a love that won't die but in fact blooms from the depths of pain and darkness. Thank you.

This truly is the story of Gertrude 'Gertie' Denise. 'Gertie' a thirty year old educated, wealthy middle class woman, who whilst still dealing with the emotions left over by her broken marriage and sudden death of her alcoholic mother, becomes involved with David 'Buck' Buckingham, the Sergeant at Arms for the Red Rebels MC.

For the majority of this story the workings of the MC club and Gertie's initial relationship to the club are secondary to the intense focus of Gertie's journey, Gertie makes some rotten choices and her personal circumstances place her into some extraordinary life threatening situations, which eventually tie her in inextricably to the MC world.

The writing is very good, and the characters feel credible, the sex between Gertie and Buck is intense and explicit, along with some very dark issues of drugs, rape and addiction all being thrown into the mix, this story is not a light and easy read. C.D Breadner pushes the character of Gertie so deep into the mire that she has to fight with every ounce of her will to survive the events that have over take her life and caused her to reach her own rock bottom.

Although this is part of a series 'Indulge' can be read as a stand alone and does eventually reach a satisfactory conclusion.

This book I could not put down!!!

It's NOT your average MC story. It has all the things you want in one, but alot more under it.
It is not a book you can walk away from it has love, romance, friendship, sex,(amazing need new panties sex) violence, rape, heartache, crime all in well thought out and believable plot yes.

But more then that there is story of a womans deconstructive evolution Gertie the main character the MC world is a stage in which her story is told and it really well done. She destroys herself only to find her way back.

C.D. has a way of writing that is visceral to the reader what your eyes see in words your brain translates to emotion it dark and poignant with enough humor to cast the shadows back. There room for more and the other characters are individuals not sideline props they have their own stories.
The story doesn't leave your head once you step back. great read loved it!!!!

Yes!!!!

This book made me happy to read MC books again. REAL MC books where things are dark and gritty. I read a review from one of my trusted Goodreads friends, and she said to immediately read the second book in this series because it all builds on each other and continues on. That is what I am going to do because this book definitely leaves the door open for more about Gertie and Buck. This book was so good and entertaining that I HAVE to continue on with this series. This is not the soft, gushy, biker read you may have been accustomed to with all of the fad writers. This is biker life at it's best; no softness and lovey dovey that we have come to experience from all of these writers who are jumping on the biker bandwagon and trying to make biker romance a bunch of sissies who fall in love and make club life seem like a walk in the park. When I want to read a biker series, I want it dark and raw and gritty, and that is exactly what this delivers. There are triggers, so not for the squeamish, but if you can handle it, check out this series. I know I will be continuing on to read more....

This book was equally good and bad, I know a bit strange but that's what I was thinking the entire way through the book.
It had some really great bits and then it would get REALLY boring then a semi good bit then BORING. So I am at odds on how to review this one as the overall story was good but getting the whole story read was not so good.

CD Breadner thought I wouldn't read this completely... well, are you surprised now?
Much like her other works, I am not a fan of this genre, but she manages to draw you in and appreciate the story and characters. Most of the book is spent getting to know Gertie and Buck, and how they relate to each other and the rest of the Rebels. Once the plot ramps up near the end and begins tying together the time jumps, your are engrossed in the action, worried for not only the safety of the characters, but of their relationship as well. Intense, gritty, honest, and powerful, Breadner knows how to draw a reader in and care for her characters. Am I a newly converted MC fan? I'm on my way. If the sequels to this one are as good, I might be converted.

A good value story with alternating POV that flow between the past and present. The alternating POV I had no problem with but reading between the past and present I did. Gertie is in a self proclaimed early midlife crisis which spins out of control . Her actions are out of step with the person she is and her true self seems to be her moral compass when she needs it.

She ends up self medicating and pays the price for this option. There is enough sweet mixed into the turmoil to balance this story out to make it a good story.

Enjoyed reading new MC from a new (to me) author. Typical MC topics -- sex, drugs, alcohol and violence. My only issue was the back and forth timeframes from when the H and h met to the now. Wasn't a cliffy, does have a HEA but IMO would've liked to see things tied up more neatly, though understandable lead on to more books in the series.

This was a tough read for me. I had to take a bit of break and came back to the story. The jumping and forth in the timeline was a bit frustrating. Gertrude is an older woman who is totally confused caused by her life but also substance abuse. Buck is a member of MC who likes crazy women. What is he afraid of? That question was never answered.

The book "Indulge" from the series "Red Rebels MC books" by M.C. Breadner was my first book by this author.

The author definitely can write. There was action, suspense and a good plot. The characters had depths. Albeit the heroine was a real train wreck waiting to crash.
I am a little bit torn about this book. What I definitely didn't like was the writing style. The constant switch between past and presence, didn't do this story any good, in my opinion. If it would have fused together at 50% of the book, it would have gone a long way. Because at this point, i lost total interest in the past. And even kept skipping pages, only focused on the present. Sadly it didn't, it kept switching back and forth almost till the end.
The supporting characters didn't leave any good impressions, so i am not enticed to keep continuing this series.

3.5 stars. I really did enjoy this. Hot, sexy, steamy, dark, violent. My problem is the prologue was great and set the stoyline but i was so confused with the abrupt ending of the book. I was excpecting the story to eventually catch up to when/where the prologue took place but it never did. So basically i don't know when, why or how the events in the prologue took place. Bummed.

4 "I don't know what you were thinking, what was in your head." stars!
This is the fourth author I've read from the FCP group, and I'm beginning to think this group is my "go-to" when I need a biker fix. Sure, I think Joanna Wylde and Madeline Sheehan are no slouches in the MC romance genre, but having been more than pleased with biker series from Susan Fanetti, Elayne DiSano, Lina Andersson, and now C.D. Breadner, I must rejoice at finding good reads from writers who make me believe their characters and entertain me, even when I'm yelling at my kindle, as I was doing when I read this book.

Indulge brought me Gertie, a heroine who got a second shot at love, but found it with a biker. Therefore, she was introduced to a new way of looking at life, and in opening up a different side of herself, she opened a Pandora's box of twisted connections, betrayal, overindulgence, and violence.

Gertie was a heroine who made me mad, but she also made me see that even disappointing heroines can redeem themselves. SO, I had a lot of fun with Gertie! She could party and she could be a major drag. She was well put together on the outside, but a total mess on the inside. And she loved love, but she definitely had a knack for killing it as well.

Yet, no matter what kind of emotions Gertie's journey brought out, she still doesn't make my "best heroines" list. I won't sit and tell you she's kick ass or strong, nor weak or pathetic. The tick is: she is none of them. Gertie is a string of contradictions, all that represent a hot mess, and the one thing that made her worth reading was her love for David Buckingham, "Buck," and more importantly his growing unconditional love for Gertie.
"You didn't leave," she stated simply.
He shook his head. "Don't wanna take the easy way out this time."
What can I say? Buck is a long-haired, green-eyed biker, a Red Rebel that is, who sneaked his beautifully-beta ass onto "my heroes" shelf. I mean, this guy had staying power in more ways than one, and he was simple enough, humble enough, and smart enough to understand what was important to him, especially after the smoke cleared.

Without giving too much away, I will say that Buck endeared himself to me when handling and sticking by his woman as shit went down. It's the only way I can say it!

But this is not to say that Buck didn't exhibit some assholery and some cluelessness of his own. In a couple of ways, I thought he'd dropped the ball when it came to protecting Gertie, but in reading book two of the series (which is not about Gertie and Buck) some things are played out that addresses this issue.

I'm all about the alpha or strong beta biker who protects his brothers back, his town and his woman. I love a good biker romance of rough n tumble meets the chick who surprises you...LOL, and having writing on par with "more than decent" doesn't hurt.

Happy Reading and Biker Fixes, people.

28/1/2021, re-read, good as the first time reading it. Love Buck and Gertie.

This book was bloody amazing. I love it when I find a new MC author as I've read most of the good ones.
Writing style - 3rd person, I'm so glad it wasnt in 1st person, as I'm so fed up with that. This author has a talent for telling a story, reminded me a little bit like Susan Fanetti.

Gertie - loved the name, unique, don't think I've read a book with a character called Gertie. Gertie is on a downward spiral, but just before it gets totally out of control she meets David 'Buck' Buckingham and they begin a relationship, which had ups and downs, due to Gerties addictions. Loved how this author took on this tough subject matter, Gertie got through it in the end and boy did she have a tough journey, especially what happened to her at the hand of the Gypsies.

Buck - God I loved his character, he truly loved Gertie. Sex scenes were hot, but not tacky at all, so good when an author can get everything right.

Background story had the club trying to sort out problems with the G Town gang and the gangs involvement with Oxy on the streets, which the club didn't want in Markham. Also other threats with the Gypsies.

Overall extremely impressed with this author, I will be reading them all, as my weakness is definitely for hot bikers, my fav kind of book.

MEH.

You can tell Gertie is struggling a bit with how her life has turned out pretty much from the start of the book, acting younger then she is, doing things she normally wouldn't and taking stuff she shouldn't! Naughty. Think she is having a slight early mid-life crisis.

Wasn't feeling much from Buck, couldn't completely work out what he was thinking. Just wasn't feeling him at all.

This novel does get a bit too much into the drug side of thing for my liking, I don't find the dealings of things like that interesting to read about. I would prefer to read more about the couple, they do seem to sometimes just have sex and there isn't much other time spent together. However I like that there is not too much regarding the inner working of the MC and concentrates more on the dramas of Gertie (whose name was hard to get used to when reading about hot sexy bikers) it makes it different to most MC books.

I have to admit I'm struggling more to connect with these characters than I usually do. Cant say why, the book is well written and is an interesting story, sometimes characters just aren't it for you.

Warning....very intense, gritty, and emotional. I finished this earlier today and have had to think about this review before posting. David "Buck" Buckingham belongs to the Red Rebels, Gertie is a woman with a career and a social life going no where. That is until she meets Maggie and the story starts. The book felt very real, I connected with the characters early on and it was frustrating at times because the author keeps flipping from present to back in time. I would skim some parts to find out what the heck happened and then go back and read the full details it was so intense. Gertie falls into alcohol and drug abuse that pulled you in and you felt her pain, loneliness and understood why, but wanted to shake her and tell her to stop.

My only two issues where the father part of the story line, that was hard to imagine and understand and then the back in forth with tense.

Would be a really good buddy ready.
