What is life like as a prisoner imprisoned for no reason? What goes through the prisoner's head? What does he remember? What would he do if presented with a way out?
Christopher Patterson lives in Tucson, Arizona with his wife and three children. Christopher has a Masters in Education and is a teacher of many subjects, including English, History, Government, Economics, and Health. He is also a football and wrestling coach. Christopher fostered a love of the arts at a very young age, picking up the guitar at 7, the bass at 10, and dabbling in drawing and writing around the same time. His first major at the University of Arizona was, in fact, a BFA in Classical Guitar Performance, although he would eventually earn a BA in Literature and a BFA in Creative Writing.
Christopher Patterson grew up watching Star Wars, Dragon Slayer, and a cartoon version of The Hobbit. He started reading fantasy novels from a young age, took an early interest in early, Medieval Europe, and played Dungeons and Dragons. He has read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and the Wizard of Earthsea many times and heralds Tolkien, Jordan, and Martin, among others, as major influences in his own writing.
Christopher is also very involved in church, especially music and youth ministries, and is very active, having been a competitive power lifter since high school.
He thanks his grandmother for letting him waste paper on her typewriter while trying to write the "Next Great American Novel" and his parents for always supporting his dreams.
This was a short, enjoyable read for me. It’s about a man who is in prison, which is the kind of story that I’m an absolute sucker for. There were enough grammar issues that it distracted me a bit, and I did personally feel like the story was too rushed. If it was longer, I feel like this story could have been fantastic. I know it was meant to be shorter, but as it is, I just feel like his backstory and escape is rushed. It’s also all summarized, which adds to the rushed feeling. And, I didn’t quite understand why he all of the sudden started fighting back now, after all this time. Why now? The story didn’t make that very clear and with how badly he was wounded, I can’t believe he could beat the guards and have the strength to walk out and through the town as he did. That, and an escaped prisoner walks out of the prison onto the streets and the people don’t notice at first? It was a bit unrealistic and rushed, all in all, but still an enjoyable read. 3 stars from me.
This was a fast read provided to me undoubtedly by the author and Bookfunnel.com (or Booksirens.com) in return for an honest review.
This book describes a man locked in a prison cell (or a dungeon, because as the story progresses the reader realizes the timeline of the short story). This is a very short story, a mere seven pages.
This short story is very descriptive but unfortunately it seemed too short to really grab a reader. It is for that reason alone that I was only able to give this book three stars out of a possible five.
As with all reviews, this is just my five cents worth.
This is a basic account of a prisoner in past times. Some may feel it is too simplistic; however, I feel that that gives a certain respect to the writing. Do you prefer literature versus some bad, indie, layered, mash-up. Even though I love a good mash-up. :) Nice extenuated description, I would have loved a full novel.
A dark little short, Yager a warrior and slave, finds himself in a very dark place, After killing the overlords son he is beaten to pulp each night, to escape his torment he falls into lucid dreams from from his past, so numb and broken and no hope of escaping, his Savior comes in the guise of green eyed beauty, damn that was a grim and gruesome read, highly recommend...😁
A short story of a prisoner who is beaten on a regular basis. but finally gets a chance to escape, with the assistance of an unknown female. Much more interesting than my review would indicate. I guess that is why Christopher Patterson is the author, instead of me!
Excellent reading. One man is imprisoned and he does not know why. He holds on to the memory of his lover but is that enough for him to retain his sanity. Well worth reading-
