Ransom #2

Release: A Ransom Novel

Rate this book
**The second installment in the Ransom series from USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Rachel Schurig. This New Adult
Contemporary Romance novel is a complete story with no cliffhanger.**

Reed Ransome is ready for a break. For once he’s going to relax, to have some fun. To stop worrying about his brothers and their band and the pressures that come with being a rock and roll superstar.

Paige Brennen is a firm believer in finding fun in unexpected places. If her past has taught her anything, it’s that life is too short to waste time being unhappy.

Their one night in Mexico is supposed to be just that—one night. A bit of fun, nothing more, before the drudgery and hard work of a cross-country tour sets in. They both have far too much riding on this opportunity to take any chances. And starting a relationship now would mean taking a pretty big chance.

Neither of them ever expected their fling to last longer than that one night. Never expected it to turn into something…more.

Maybe even something worth risking everything for.

Reed and Paige

The drummer and the friend of a friend

Paige steals the show in this one. Reed may be the drummer in the hottest band. Long blonde hair, serious, broody, needing to prove he can take care of his brothers even though they are all grown men.

"She's basically the opposite of me-silly where I'm serious, optimistic where I'm pragmatic, free-spirited where I'm nose to the grindstone. I feel strange when I'm with her, but not in a bad way. Just...different. Like I don't have to try so hard. Like I don't have to worry so much. Like I'm...balanced or something. And she's totally hot."

But Paige, everyone needs a friend in their life like Paige. She's smart, intuitive, and so full of empathy. She has this light. She is the fun, the joy, and the crazy. She's the one to make sure every moment finds it's silver lining. Watching Paige move through this story will put a smile on your face. It's impossible not to picture her dragging this group of sexy rockstars and her friends through the country's most "stupid" attractions.

"I like things that are out of the ordinary-that's the most fun part of life. Finding the things you weren't expecting, the things you aren't used to."

It's opposites attract, friends to lovers, perfect couple rockstar romance with all the drama you would expect!

Release is the 2nd book in Rachel Schurig's Ransom Series.

Reed is the oldest of the 4 brothers who make up the band, Ransom, and he considers it his job to make sure the band responsibilities and his brothers are in order. Paige is smart and fun, and is traveling with them while working on their latest tour. They've become friends and give in to their attraction twice while on a vaction right before the tour starts. Reed has some personal drama that makes a relationship with Paige impossible, so they agree that they should stick to being just friends. While the drama grows, so does their pull toward eachother.

I'm surprised that I liked this book even more than Ransom. I wasn't particularly drawn to either of these characters in the last book, but now I like them more than Daltrey and Daisy. This book made me go from laughing out loud to making me want to smack a certain character, so I really enjoyed it. Now I can't wait for Lennon to meet his match and for Cash to beg Karen for a chance(I hope, I hope!).

Reed Ransome is gorgeous and a famous rockstar, he’s in a crowded room and he’s lonely. Worst part is he’s actually jealous of he’s little brother’s relationship with Daisy. Not that he’s jealous of Daisy, but of their relationship. He wants that kind of love and affection from someone. He has a girlfriend but she’s more into herself, than him. He’s looking forward to a week of relaxation in Mexico with his brothers and some friends, and Sienna but his girlfriend has other plans. So he and Paige hook up and instead of awkward he wants more. Which makes things awkward. He really likes Paige but the PR people want him with Sienna. They break up but not for long because Just as he and Paige are getting cozy Sienna is back in the picture, sort of and claims she’s carrying his child. This book is dis appointing because there’s very little going on with Paige and Reed. There are outings with his brothers, friends and Paige as a group that does nothing to move the story forward. Sienna drops the P bomb on Reed and we never hear from her again and at least 80% into the book which annoyed me because I hate gullible men as much as I hate doormat women. At one point Reed was asleep on Siennas’s balcony and I wanted him struck by lightning. Even with him being a total fool I still liked him and wanted him to have his happy ending. The story did have rough patches but it did have a very happy ending, I’m giving it five stars and highly recommend it.

Reed Ransome is part of an amazing rock group, he has a Hollywood actress girlfriend, and is about to go to paradise for vacation. But his life is far from perfect. He takes steps to straighten it out but dumping his girlfriend proves harder than he though. His band wrote the theme song for her newest TV show (reality) and it would be bad press for them to break up before the show airs.
Paige Brennen is interning for the band; traveling with them for a few months to get experience as a graphic designer. But she wants everyone to be as happy as she is and that includes Reed. What she doesn't realize is spending time with him is just going to make them fall in love.
I got the first three books in the series in a bundle from Kindle Unlimited. This was the only one of the three I managed to finish. Paige and Reed weren't even together for most of the book but they knew at the end they had Twu Lurv? There was some hot sex but we didn't even see them interact that much in the book since Reed was "dating" his girlfriend for most of it. I liked Schurig's writing but the story didn't much seem like a romance.

Ugh I am still madly in love with this band and series.

Paige our high energy, unofficially fun events coordinator is hilarious. Her going on tour with the band only increases her need to find fun things to do on down times. Yes she ha some hurdles with her ADHA but she is a beautiful friend.

Reed is the serious one in the band and seems to feel the burden to continue being the caretaker for his younger brothers. He does make some dumb decisions in my opinion but as the story unfolds you come to understand why.

Beautiful 4.5 stars. Happy Reading!

As good if not better than the first

I really liked the first book, hoped I would enjoy this second book just as much. I did. Everyone needs a Paige for a friend. I wanted to shout at reed for being so stupid. I like when you get to know the characters and they appear in all the books. That happens here. Well worth reading. I couldn’t put it down! I’d call this a must read!

I expected this series to be a lot more “dirty”, but it’s not. It is pretty clean for a rockstar romance. This is about Paige and Reed, the drummer. Pretty good story line, but also predictable.

4 - 4.5 stars

This book is number 2 in the Ransom series. Can be read as a standalone but book 1 gives a great insight into both MC's.

Reed is the oldest of the Ransom brothers and carries the responsibilty of the them and band on his shoulders. As Ransom prepare to take a winter break from touring and head to Mexico for R&R, Reed finds himself flying to LA to meet up with his famous up & coming actress girlfriend.

We find the relationship is not a loving one and she is shallow & materialistic and does not mix with his family. An argument ensues over her unwillingness to join them in Mexico which results in Reed finally throwing in the towel.

Fun loving Paige is travelling to meet the band in Mexico with her BFF Karen. As college friends of Daisy and as college work experience will be touring with the band. She is familiar with the band but still blown away by her lavish surroundings.

In Mexico, Reed & Paige connect. He calms her thoughts whilst she breathes new life into him. A one-night stand leads to more.

As well as the romance element to their relationship, so is friendship. The blossoming romance is left flailing when Reed has a choice to make. Happily there is a positive outcome.

I really enjoyed the slow burn aspect of the romance. I've read a lot of books lately where the romance is more telling than showing so it was nice to see that relationship be established as I read. It's a sweet romance too so it was nice to read something that isn't focused on all the sexy times between the leads.

Every book by Rachel Schurig, I think she can't possibly top her last male love interest, but she does it. I loved Reed. This book really pulled on my heart strings and I'm excited for the next Ransom book already. Now I can't wait for Lennon to meet his match and for Cash & Karen to have a chance together. My absolute favorite thing about Rachel Shurig’s books is that the characters continue on into the next book. This story of Paige and Reed might be my favorite! You automatically want them to work out because they just seem to balance one another out so well. She is truly an exceptional writer. I can’t wait to see what happens with the next brother!

I received this ARC for an honest review. However, I would have purchased the book immediately upon its release anyway because I've read & loved everything by Rachel Schurig so far.

loved this book in the series. Paige is my kind of girl. I love her bubbly outlandish personality and its the perfect match for a guy like Reed. He's too serious at times and needs someone to bring him up and be happy for once. Reed is clearly stuck in the past with dealing with the loss of their mother walking out on them. He feels the pressure of being the oldest brother to take the responsibilities to raise his younger brothers and make sure they're ok. What he doesn't realize is that at this point they are all grown up and he no longer needs to put all that pressure on himself. With the help of his bothers and Paige he can finally breath and let himself enjoy life other than the band and other job duties. The next book is about Chase and I can't wait to see how his man-whore-ness is about to change lol

I was so excited to read Paige and Reed's story. I really enjoyed Paige from the previous book so it was exciting to see more from her. I really love how this was written, it kept me reading and I read most of it in one setting. The tension between the two was something I was able to feel so well. I love me a happy ending but I also love me a realistic one. This one didn't feel rushed and it was also very satisfying. I felt bad for Reed and how trapped he was in his relationship with Sienna (was this her name? Lol I just read this but forgot if this is her name...anyways the famous one lol) but I'm glad he didn't end up having to stay with her. The ending with the brothers was my favorite part for sure. As the oldest child with divorced parents I can definitely relate to Reed and how he was living his life. Overall just beautifully written and so so fun. Will definitely read again.

Rachel Schurig is becoming a favorite author of mine. I loved her first "Ransom" book and this one is just as good. About a rock band, Ransom, made up of a close knit group of four Ransome brothers (and a really overbearing father). This one is about oldest brother Reed and Daisy's friend Paige who has signed on for the latest tour to work on a school project. These books are written well with strong, well fleshed out characters, with a good romance included. Very little on screen steam, but plenty of talk about groupies and the life of a rock band. You don't need to read the first book to enjoy this one but because Daisy and Daltrey are such a big part of both books I think both the books should be read in order to enjoy them the most.

this is the 2nd book in this series. It is really good. We have big bother who has taken care of his little brothers his whole life because mom walks away and dad worked like crazy. Reed sacrificed his happiness over and over for the family and the Band. He thought he had found true love but it was make believe, then on a much needed vacation with friend he found someone who made him happy but being the big brother he pretended she was nothing other then just a friend.life gets crazy and the games continue until he can take no more. he finds his Best friend and true love.there is so much more to this story so read it. I am ready for the next book in this series.

I totally like this brother more, the story is much more mature although Reese was super naive regarding Sienna, the girl was an heartless actress and nobody made the connection, it was unbelievable.
I like Paige a lot, she was so nice.
I totally love this story. Now what I didn't like was the fact that the whole family was emotionally damaged starting with the father, Will Ransom, and there was no development in that area, all the brothers have a lot of problems, the objectification of women, alcohol and they all have this stupid idea that because they are rock stars they have do and behave terribly, well except Lennon, he was the quite one.

I gave it another try to this series and although this book is well written I simply don't feel anything when i read either of the books. The book is ok and the characters are ok but thats just it. Its just OK.......... and borderline boring. The plot is good but there is angst missing, passion, strong personalities and ï gotta have you now" moments. Maybe you have to read between the lines to see the mayhem they cause but i just did not see it.
Will I give a go at the next book? Maybe, but I'm not expecting much excitment.

Reed and Paige end up in a spur of the moment hot destination hookup in paradise, but decide to stay friends despite underlying feelings that they each secretly have for each other. Love and true happiness decide that friendship just isn't enough. This story picks up where the other one left off, but features a different Ransome brother. It goes from the baby brother to the older brother. They may look similar, but couldn't be more different. It's a great story and has me excited to read onto the next brother.

Brilliant
Again this is not my first time reading this book.
I loved this book, the emotions that both the main characters go through you can really feel. I was drawn into it right from page one, and was watching in my head the events that were happening on the page, Rachel Schurig sure knows how to keep you captivated in her books.
This series is one of my go to series, which means it is a series I can read over and over again.
It worth so much more than five stars, if you haven't read it, I honestly believe that you won't be disappointed.
I highly recommend all the books in this series.

This book was better than the first. Better writing and a less obvious and believable plot. Girl falls in love with oblivious boy and girl gets heart broken. I love that Paige has a back bone. I've read too many books where the heroine becomes a doormat.
From all my progress updates one can infer my annoyance with the over use of the term rock star (not including rock band). There were 6 more instances I didn't count and I only started at around 47%. Sorry it turned into a compulsion.

I really liked this book, but I pretty much expected the outcome which left me a little frustrated with Reed. My main reason for deserves a warning. So beware even though I tried to be vague. SPOILER ALERT:

Given the situation, he asked for no proof and that is incredibly naive. Everything reeked of manipulation but he just believed it? Ewww. No.
