His eyes were rimmed red when they met mine. "I die inside every time he touches you, and there's nothing I can do about it. You've made it clear that you're going to go on with this sham of a marriage, no matter who it hurts in the process. You lie to everyone, Jordi, including the people you're supposed to love the most. And I just can't take it anymore. This is not the way I want to live my life."
"I thought I was worth it," I mumbled.
"You have no idea what you're worth," he said softly. "That's the problem."
In book #2 of the Fierce saga, Jordi Hemphill has joined her true love Jace Riga on cross-country tour with Giovanni Carnevale and Dreaming in Blue. The star-crossed lovers anticipate the freedom to explore their burgeoning relationship, despite the continued complications of her ties to her tormentor Eddie Nix and Jace's new standing as a rock icon. Nothing is as it seems, which make the pair fodder for the rumor mill. Forces from all directions threaten to tear them apart, but it is Jordi's own insecurities that drive a wedge between the aspiring diva and her hero.
Author Ginger Voight further delves into the key issues that keep Jordi from defeating her demons once and for all. This sweeping saga unearths revelations that will rock Jordi's world forever... and set her on the path to the path to her story's epic conclusion.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
If you need a warning label to read a book, whether for language, sex, emotional trigger topics, the presence of cliffhangers, cheaters or triangles or the absence of a HEA, then this author's books are not the books for you.
Ginger Voight is a screenwriter and bestselling author with over twenty published titles in fiction and nonfiction. She covers everything from travel to politics in nonfiction, as well as romance, paranormal, and dark, “ripped from the headlines” topics like Dirty Little Secrets.
Ginger discovered her love for writing in sixth grade, courtesy of a Halloween assignment. From then on, writing became a place of solace, reflection, and security. This was never more true than when she found herself homeless in L.A. at the age of nineteen. There, she wrote her first novel, longhand on notebook paper, while living out of her car.
In 1995, after she lost her nine-day-old son, she worked through her grief by writing the story that would eventually become The Fullerton Family Saga.
In 2011, she embarked on a new journey—to publish romance novels starring heroines who look more like the average American woman. These "Rubenesque" romances have developed a following thanks to her bestselling Groupie series. Other titles, such as the highly-rated New Adult series, Fierce, tap into the "reality-TV" preoccupation in American entertainment, which gives her contemporary stories a current, pop culture edge.
Known for writing gut-twisting angst, Ginger isn’t afraid to push the envelope with characters who are perfectly imperfect. Whether rich, poor, sweet, selfish, gay, straight, plus-size or svelte, her characters are beautifully flawed and three-dimensional. They populate her lavish fictional landscapes and teach us more about the real world in which we live simply through their interactions with each other. Ginger’s goal with every book is to give the reader a little bit more than they were expecting, told through stories they'll never forget.
HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT. First off, let me clear something up because I feel the need to clarify...haha...I just totally went in circles there. Anyway, this book took me longer to read, not because I didn't like it, but because my emotions were flying everywhere! I had to take multiple...and I mean multiple breaks because I was so wound up. Gin, why do you constantly do this to your readers? The kicker is I can NEVER be mad at Gin and her incredible writing: She always brings out the masochistic side of me and my curiosity ALWAYS wins out when it comes to her books. This was NO exception. No matter how many times I wanted to run and hide from this, I wanted to know what was going to happen. I'm such a sucker for Gin's work.
In regards to this sequel, this is all you have to know: 1. I LOVE JACE!! - He is jus so incredibly swoon-worthy. I love him. 2. I FUCKING HATE EDDIE!! - One of the worst villains in the book world. 3. BOOK Three is going to EPIC!! 4. If you read Fierce, then you cannot miss this!
this one was a bit hard cause you could feel Jodie self worth. You just wanted to shake her and hug her at the same time. Vanni was us, telling her she was loved and worth so much more. You could feel her self esteem plumett throughout the book and Medicate herself with food. But Jordi put up with the asshole that was Eddie and let that marriage continue after jace kept saying he wanted to call his bluff. So the drama began, she threw jace and Shelby together at every turn like she wanted them together.....why? Cause it was easier for her to think that mace thought she worthless like everyone else.....including herself. You see that's what an abused person does cause they don't think they are worth anything,,,,love, success and happiness, so it's easier to believe the negative and believe people will pick everyone over her, she's been abused since she was 6 and her current husband is keeping up thar abuse. Thank goodness for Vanni, Andy and Jace who wouldn't give up on her. I do feel bad for Shelby in all this cause she was definitely hurt by Jordi and Jace, and her dad is an ass!! I don't think we've seen the last of them!!!
Ginger Voight has rocked this one right out of the arena (yup… I needed to get at least one in there before I get serious). This book is simply amazing. Ginger Voight as outdone herself with this one and I was so glad to be a part of this blog tour. In the amazing follow up book to Fierce, Unstoppable is inspiring and breaks through so many barriers with this book at it truly is more than a great book. It breaks social issue barriers and really gets in deep with issues that face a lot of women out there. It is a moving story of Jordi’s rise to fame and the internal struggles that she has to face along the way.
Jordi and Jace have joined forces with Vanni from Dreaming in Blue on tour after their first and second place wins on the hit reality show, Fierce. Now it is their time to shine. But all that glitters definitely is not gold in this book. Jordi and Jace love each other something fierce, but there are a few issues with that… Jordi was blackmailed into a marriage that she does not want to be a part of and Jace is forced to struggle through the emotional turmoil that that marriage brings on. But can their love be the best part of the tour or will the secrets that Jordi is trying to protect others from be the death of the tour?
Jordi continues to battle with her weight issues in this book, but now we add to that the evil Eddie. Eddie takes every opportunity to knock her down and keep her in place. But the toll that the emotional baggage that Jordi is carrying becomes too much to handle on her own. But if she lets the secrets out, she could hurt Jace’s future and she doesn’t want that to happen. Struggling through an entire tour waiting for their stolen moments has taken a toll on their relationship and Jordi is now full of even more insecurities and she is struggling to hold it together, but unfortunately her struggles are causing her to push Jace right into the arms of another. But will he go to those arms?
My heart was broken for Jordi for a good portion of this book because I can empathize with her issues and I hurt for her and along with her. Jace is just amazing through the entire book and honestly, he stood his ground and was willing to throw away everything for Jordi, but she wanted nothing to do with that idea. But more than my aching heart for Jordi was the love and compassion I felt throughout the book for Jace. This book was a big internal struggle for Jordi and Jace was so patient and kind and loving. He knew that Jordi was so much more than she ever gave herself credit for, but would he be able to make her see it?
This book was emotional and inspiring. The social issues that Ginger Voight continues to bring to the front and center in this series are important and impactful. She does it and tells the most amazing love story along the way. This book touched something inside of me that I cannot explain, perhaps because I believe every woman has struggled with these issues in one way or another at some point in their lives. But more than the social issues, this book is about finding love within you. Vanni and Andy are there for Jordi and help show her that she has value and self worth, but more than those two, Jace is there.
If you loved the Groupie trilogy, the Fierce series are an amazing spin off! Unstoppable was breathtakingly and moving. I adored this book because it was more than just another romance, it had a beautiful romance, but more, it had an amazing story of struggle and self worth that cannot be surpassed. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. I am more drawn to each character with every page and every book. Ginger Voight is simply amazing and these books are honest and real. Unstoppable was the continuation of a beautiful love of two people brought together because they were born to stand out and together this couple is Fierce and Unstoppable. I need more of Jordi and Jace! I cannot wait for the next book!
*I received a complimentary copy of Unstoppable in exchange for an honest review*
Warning: Spoilers below for those who have NOT READ Fierce (Fierce #1)
Unstoppable is the second book in the Fierce Series. Unstoppable picks up right where Fierce left off; Jace won the Fierce singing competition while Jordi takes second place. Jordi married Eddie because he is blackmailing her and using Jordi for her fame & fortune. Jordi & Jace are in love and sneaking behind everyone’s back to be together and not ruin their image or their career. Okay, I think we are caught up now!
They are about to start touring now that the show has ended. Jordi is so excited to be able to spend three months touring the country with Jace and being together… even in hiding without Eddie being around. Jordi is finally doing okay (well as okay as Jordi can be), she is losing weight the healthy way and Jace is helping her see the woman she really is but then everything changes.
Jace ladies, he is seriously the most wonderful, loving, caring man in the entire world! What he puts up with to be with Jordi is truly amazing. At times I was getting so mad at Jordi for not dumping Eddie to be with Jace. Eddie is still Eddie saying the cruelest things to Jordi and she just took it. I’ll be honest, there was a moment and two where Eddie seemed to care but then he did something Eddie-like and ruined it. He shows up on tour in some cities and spoils her plans with Jace causing only problems between the three of them. How Jace didn’t punch him out from the get-go I do not know.
Besides the strange love-triangle going on there is more. We know Jordi has low self-esteem and her weight has always held her back from living her life. Now on tour the gossip tabloids do not take pity on poor Jordi and go after her about her weight. At the same time, Shelby who is also from the show Fierce is touring with them. Shelby is physically everything Jordi is not. She is tall, beautiful like a model, THIN, and the guys go crazy for her, especially Eddie. Yuck! Shelby only has her eyes on Jace who she thinks is single. Jace & Shelby become very close, too close I think.
Jordi is still a character I believe all women can identify with. She feels like she is never good enough and worries about her weight and afraid to be who she really is. I absolutely love the love affair between Jace & Jordi. It was so beautiful and sad they had to hide it from the world because Jordi begins to go through a lot and needs Jace right there on her side. I know technically Jordi was cheating on Eddie with Jace but I still do not see their marriage as a real marriage. Eddie is just a complication and nothing more.
In Unstoppable, Jordi learns who her real friends & family are when she needs someone the most. Aside from dealing with the sleaze ball Eddie, she is also struggling with her past and coming to terms with the truth. The ending sets up for the third book in the series, which comes out this Fall 2013. I am so excited to find out what is in store with the Fierce gang, even Eddie. Yuck!
I love this series for many reasons but Jordi & Jace are something special. Jordi is an amazing character who we can all identify with and Jace… well Jace is something special. He is the sweetest man EVER! I want them to have their happily ever after so bad. I can’t wait to see what is next for these two love birds!
I give Unstoppable (Fierce #2) 4 Stars.
ARC provided by the author in return for an honest review.
Whenever I get a request for a blog tour, I usually just cringe. I get so many of them that I just can't accept them all. But when Brandee sends me one that has Ginger Voight's name in it, I cannot sign up fast enough. When I first heard of Ginger, I was skeptical. I'd read the THOUGHTLESS series and thought Kellan was pretty much a rock God. Then I read THE MIGHTY STORM, and thought, hmmm... Rock stars! So when GROUPIE sorta fell into my hands, I devoured it. Andy's and Vanni's story was heartstopping for three books. Ginger doesn't sugar coat her characters, they're all flawed, but so aren't we. Andy is a curvy woman who is not a size 1. Vanni's could be stereotyped to want only stick-thin models, but he's not. Oh yes, he hooks up with them, but it's Andy who's captured his heart.
In UNSTOPPABLE, we have another curvy woman who is making waves in the music industry. Jordi Hemphill may not have won FIERCE; but she captured the hearts of the viewers and is becoming a star in her own right. But her life is beyond happy. She's in love with one person, yet married to another. And she's only 19!
Jordi is on a downward spiral. Her song of choice should be HURT by NIN. She makes decisions that aren't smart, but being blackmailed by your husband isn't exactly conducive to having a happy life. From starving herself, to injuring herself from working too hard. Jordi is a mess. The only person who really 'gets' her is Vanni. He's taken a liking to Jordi and is mentoring her and trying to teach her that her beauty goes beyond what the people see on the outside, it's what is inside that matters.
Ah, let's go back to that blackmail... Her husband Eddie has an incriminating sex tape of Jordi and FIERCE winner Jace Riga. So in order for Eddie to keep her in line, he uses that every chance he gets. Of course, he's very abusive to Jordi and usually shoves it in Jace's face. Now, Jordi and Jace, as two misfits, are totally in love with each other. Jordi doesn't feel she's worthy of Jace because he's gorgeous, women throw themselves at him and the third runner-up, Shelby is also pining for him. Trying to keep a facade in front of everyone is wearing on Jordi and threatening her health. Eddie doesn't care. All he cares is that he gets her money and can bed a hot, stick-thin model-type.
Ginger pulls you through all of Jordi's emotions and your heart breaks for her when she realizes that she has to set Jace free. No matter how many times he tells her she's worth it, she doesn't believe it herself. Of course, now that Vanni has taken her under his wing (with the approval of Andy), the gossip sites make it seem as if they're having an affair. Vanni tells her to ignore it.
How is she supposed to ignore things when she's falling apart internally? With an explosive ending that I never saw coming, I was thrilled with how things ended. I'm in need of EPIC like yesterday. I have NO idea how Jordi's story will come to a close; but I will miss this world that Ginger has created. I hope she doesn't completely leave it. I absolutely recommend this series and the GROUPIE series. So good and totally worth it.
OMFG!!!!!!! Lord have mercy I tell you Ginger Voight knows how to write a story like no one's business and the second book in this series was so freaking amazing I laughed and I cried and the ending let me just say that that ending had me ready to jump into the book and kick some series arse! I love how Ginger writes about heavy women in an industry that acts like you have to be some dam skinny minny in order to be someone. I as a heavy set woman hate that people treat heavy set or plus size women like lepers.
In Unstoppable we get to see Jori and Jace again. Jace is on a cross country tour with Vanni and The Carnevale and Dreaming in Blue band. Jordi and Jace will have some time to explore their relationship and see where it can go. But there is one small issue for them well really two but the major thing or issue is Jordi is married to Eddie and she is being black mailed by him. But no matter what Jordi is going through she has decided she will see where her relationship goes with Jace because she loves him but she is struggling with her looks and where she is going with her career.
Jace is in love with Jordi and is willing to do anything to get her. He hates Eddie for all the abuse he is doing towards Jordi but he also knows that Jordi has to face her demons in order for her to move on so he decides that he is going to help her and never leave her. Once Jordi starts to come to terms with how she feels and what she is feeling she let's Jace totally in and it is here where she learns the ugly truth of her life.
I need book three like ASAP like no ones business because the ending of Unstoppable was totally crazy and left me loving Jace even more. Thank you Ginger for another EPIC series!
This was a good trilogy about a girl trying to fight back from a tragic past while trying to find herself in a world where "Big girls" are unaccepted as the norm. While doing so she excels with her voice, on her way she finds new friends, love and acceptance.
“She hangs onto the past and every ghost, all lies that hide who loves her most. She’s beautiful but she can’t see how perfect she is to me.”
Even though she came in second in the TV reality show Fierce Jordie Hemphill still didn’t feel good enough. In this continuing story of Jordie’s struggle with selfesteem and stardom you get deeper into the pain that has made her the self loathing girl trying to make it, we met in Fierce.
I loved the first book in this series and I can say I absolutely loved this story as well (even through all the tears that I shed reading it). This part of Jordie’s story goes into the 2nd place stars first nation wide tour with a real rock band… Her dreams finally coming true; rock star career and tour and married to the handsome boy she loved since she was a kid. With every dream you don’t think about what will happen when it actually comes true. Tour just caused more body issues and insecurities and her “dream boy” was the furthest thing from that. Jordie was always looking out for everyone around her but never took time to look out for herself. With the best intentions she pushed those most dear to her away and caused more pain than if she would have just come clean about the horrid details of her blackmailing husband.
Even through the emotional roller coaster from wanting to punch Jordie’s “loving husband”, Eddie Nix, to falling in love with the war hero, Jace, to finally seeing everyone has insecurities no matter how perfect you may look on the outside with Shelby this book makes you want to fight hard for the underdog and fall in love with them as well.
The Fierce series just makes me happy and I think you should read it ☺
This is the first series I have read by Ginger, and I have to say, I’m now going to have to buy all of her other books and read them, because I thought this book was awesome!
What I liked best about this book can be summed up in one word: Jordi. She’s so amazing. I say we need more plus size women portrayed in books, since the average woman is a size 14. Jordi has all the insecurities of a normal woman; she self-doubting, but it’s mixed with a confidence and swagger that just makes you love her. It made me love her, anyway. She’s unapologetic for who she is, even if she’s plagued with insecurity at times. She wants love but pushes it away at the same time…she’s in a place that many people can identify with.
And Jace. Oh…Jace Riga. Wounded war veteran with a voice like butter and with an unfailing love for Jordi just as she is. He’s a great hero. You’re going to love him.
So, this book is the continuation of the story from “Fierce”. It’s filled with angst, love, desire, mayhem…it’s a wild ride. It also brings together a lot of the themes introduced in “Fierce”, which makes it a very satisfying read in that respect. Personally, I love it when it all just seems to come together, and that is definitely where this series is headed.
Ginger Voight is definitely a talented author. Girlfriend can write. She manages to really engage the reader in the characters and their stories. Even the scumbag characters (*cough* Eddie *cough*) still reel you in, and you become invested in their lives and where it’s all going. I think this is a great story with great characters, and I give it 4 very impressed stars!
4.5!!! Warning: Spoilers below for those who have NOT READ Fierce (Fierce #1)
Unstoppable is the 2nd in the Fierce Series. Jordi is finally doing okay (well as okay as Jordi can be), she is losing weight the healthy way and Jace is helping her see the woman she really is. But then everything changes. Jace is seriously the most wonderful, loving, caring man in the entire world! What he puts up with to be with Jordi is truly amazing. At times I was getting so mad at Jordi for not dumping Eddie to be with Jace. Eddie is still Eddie saying the cruelest things to Jordi and she just took it. I was so mad for a lot of this book....mad because I wasn't getting what I wanted -- Jordi happy and with Jace. But in this book, Jordi learns who her real friends & family are when she needs someone the most. Aside from dealing with the sleaze ball Eddie, she is also struggling with her past and coming to terms with the truth.
I love this series for many reasons but Jordi & Jace are something special. Jordi is an amazing character who I identify with and Jace just makes my heart soar! Onto book 3....with the hopes that we get the ending we are all wanting....and I"m still wanting some Karma to hit Eddie where it hurts.
Ginger Voight has a great knack for writing books that get right under your skin. This book didn't disappoint. Jace & Jordi were tested over and over again. In Jace's case, it feels like his love for her can only get stronger and boy does she need him to be strong.
The villains in this book are god-awful. Eddie is just scum, garbage, basura - I hate his stinkin' guts.
I love how Ginger takes on the topic of appearances and what is acceptable in society versus what is a real and authentic . Jordi has a lot of work to do with regards to her self worth and getting rid of the demons she has let fester inside of her. I am so excited to see where the last book of this series, Epic, will take her. Jace is just the best - he is sexy and supportive and patient and sweet and so many more adjectives that I can't think of right now. And he has tattoos, and is war veteran! Talk about a hero :)
Again, loving the glimpses of Vanni & Andy's life. Vanni has grown so much and continues to prove me right for forgiving him for all the pain and aggravation he put me through in the Groupie series.
What an awesome follow up to Fierce! How could anyone not fall in love with Jace while rooting for and admiring Jordi?
The story revolved around the lovers who were kept apart by such a web that I just wanted to jump in and help untangle it already. The other important characters (Shelby, Vanni, Maggie, Andy) really enhanced the mood and were integral to its development, and I would love to hear more from them in the final installment.
My only real criticism is that, while this book was grammatically sound, there were words missing here and there. It's like GV wrote so fast to get her thoughts down and skipped a word or two throughout the book. There weren't enough omissions to detract, and I was able to ascertain what she meant, but it was noticeable. Better editing needs to be done.
Overall, enjoy the 1st in this series and love this one. I've already started the final book and can't wait to see how it ends!
Another great story in this trilogy, the plot line was interesting and had me hooked.Jordi's problems got worse and she just couldn't escape Eddie or the media who were desperate to see her downfall.Eddie was his usual nasty self but I do like him,he is a great character even though he is a bad guy and was both mentally and physically abusive towards Jordi.I couldn't wait for him to get his comeuppance which he did in a way.He has unfinished business so I am sure he will be back in Epic to cause more chaos.Jace was the perfect handsome, sexy rock star.A great supportive friend to Jordi and Shelby. He was also close to Shelby and I think he did lead her on a bit so I hope they can resolve this and she can find her own happiness.
Just when I think I cannot be more in love with Ginger Voight's writing she comes out with this book and blows me out of the water with this continuation of Jace and Jordi's love story❤❤ this book has everything angst, love, passion and so much emotional turmoil you can stay away!! Ginger Voight was born to write!! Her writing is like a fine way it gets better with age!!! Jace is so perfect everyone needs a Jace in their life ❤❤❤ so pure, so honest, so giving, so selfless he is just beyond swoon worthy "You have me baby, always" oh Jace❤❤ Five stars will not be enough to do justice to this book and the amazing writing
This is book two of a three part series. A continuation of Jordi's story after winning "Fierce" the American Idol type singing show. She deals with her family issues, her husband the douche bag Eddie, Jace the man she really loves, and her own insecurities which are just magnified by the press. If you liked the first book, stay tuned because you'll really dig this one. I gave it three stars because I did start to get annoyed at the whining about the same things with Jordi. Other than that I really like it (but don't tell anyone, because I am only a closet romance reader lol)
I'd give this 4 1/2 stars...another great book and can't wait to read Epic to see what else happens. A twist with Jordi's family, Eddie is still a scumbag, Jordi still has no self-esteem and is pushing Jace away. A lot of things to get resolved and the book has a lot of angst on Jordi's part. It did start to get annoying because I wanted to shake her and tell her to get help, stop playing the victim!
3.25 STARS A continuation directly from book 1. This book really looks at the mental abuse that Jordi has endured through her life. She shines in some moments and cowers in some as she lets the media add to her low self esteem. Jace finds himself questioning if his love will be enough to help her. Eddie just keeps weaseling his way into Jordi's pocket, until he can find a better, more flashy ride.
Once again Goner Voight sends us readers on a 5 star emotional Rollercoaster. Jordi is still living the high life while battle personal demons as well as' husband' Eddie. Her life is becoming increasingly out of control and she goes from binge eating to binge dieting all to combat her emotional issues. But everyone on the Fierce tour soon realises something is going wrong for Jordi. But will she open up to them before it's too late? Really loving this series!
This is a great story and I loved that it picks up where the other one left off. I love Jordi, I love her fight, I love her drive. I'd like to junk punch Eddie and her mother. And Jace, well I love Jace. He's such an amazing person and so perfect for Jordi. He is so supportive and loving. He doesn't care what she weighs, he loves her for who she is.
Someone posted that the series was free on Facebook and I snatched it up. A few weeks later I was bored and thought I would dive in. I LOVED it! Really great series. The second book, Unstoppable was really fantastic. We no longer had the mother in the picture and just had to cope with crazy Edie. Great series.
Wow I couldn't put this down, a gripping continuation of Jordi's battle. She stresses far too much over what other people think/say and suffers in silence to protect fiercely those she loves. She's in danger and needs a savior, I was so happy how this part ended up and look forward to the epic conclusion.
Holy Cow what a read! Stayed up late late to finish this as I couldn't wait and I was not in anyway disappointed! The ending was truly fantastic and glad that arse finally got what was coming to him! Cannot wait for the final instalment in the hopes that Jordi does actually get her happily ever after finally! A wild roller coaster of a book and so glad I read it!
Unstoppable is ah-mazing! Reading about all of Jordi's struggles and insecurities brought back a lot of memories of my young adult life. I felt this book gave a realistic portrayal of how abuse can affect a person's self image and the effect it has in every aspect of their life. I rate this book a riveting 5 stars.
This book is simply amazing. Ginger Voight as outdone herself with this one. In the amazing follow up book to Fierce, Unstoppable is inspiring and breaks through so many barriers with this book at it truly is more than a great book.
Wow what an awesome second book. I am glad a lot has finally came out into the open. Parts of this one had me crying. Jodie has been through so much and she is slowly y overcoming it. Looking forward to see how the final book goes.
The second in the "Fierce" series. Unstoppable is nonstop from beginning to end as life on a tour demands. Sex, lies, blackmail, love, and betrayal are just an every day event on the "Fierce tour!"
Unstoppable was not nearly as emotionally draining as Fierce, which isn't a bad thing! There was important information in this installment, but I felt it was more of a bridge between the first and third books. Some of the passion went away, but it was because Jordi herself lost passion.
