This is a cozy mystery that is part of a series and I hadn't read any of the previous books, but found it easy to read as a standalone. I loved the magical sleuthing animals, including two very vocal spaniels, an inquisitive owl, and a kitten named, Stardust. I found myself really wanting to join the special group called, "Gins and Needles" that combined sewing and knitting with yummy cocktails. Yes, Please! The story included a little romance as well. I am not usually a big fan of romance, but this story included it in such a light and sweet way. The romance was not cheesy or over the top, it felt naturally part of the story. This would be a great book for anyone that loves cozy mystery or maybe just needs a little fun story as a palette cleanser after reading so many other heavy feeling stories.

Tails From the Crypt is the third book in the Magical Menagerie series by Sarah Fox. In this one, Twilight Cove is preparing for some fun Halloween events!

Georgie Johansen and Auntie O are also getting ready for their animal sanctuary’s Trail of Terror. It's basically a haunted house through the woods! Then there's the Pumpkin Glow where contestants will create sculptures out of Jack O'lanterns at the park. It should be fun, but a new resident has gotten herself placed in charge. She doesn't like anyone and the feeling is mutual. When her body is discovered Georgie's best friend becomes the top suspect.

The Halloween activities sound so fun. I wish they were real and I could trail through a haunted forest! There is a great chase scene there too. The specific method of murder isn't something I've seen before, but I've wondered if it would ever show up in a book.

Eugene the owl is my favorite. There are some funny moments with Flossie and Fancy nearly getting themselves and Georgie into trouble. Tails From the Crypt will get you ready for Fall for sure!

Thank you to Severn House and Netgalley for the chance to read!

#TailsfromtheCrypt #NetGalley is a fun Halloween cozy mystery written by Sarah Fox.
With the holiday approaching, Georgie, her Aunt Olivia and her boyfriend Callum are preparing for the Trail of Terror, a fun activity that benefits their animal sanctuary.
When a new volunteer tries to overtake things, several people are annoyed and things take a turn for the worse when Georgie stumbles over body.
When Georgie's friend Tessa becomes a suspect, she and her canine companions Fancy & Flossie start to investigate. With the dog's magical techniques, they are determined to find the answers.

I really love a good Halloween cozy mystery, and this book checked all the boxes for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

I enjoyed this one more than the second one and found that it was a better addition to the series. Georgie does spend a lot of time with Callum in this one as well, as can be expected, but she is back to her spunkier self, not waiting for his approval on everything. The mystery is spooky and perfect for this time of year, and I didn’t figure out who the guilty party was until the very end. As usual, though, the animals steal the show and I am now in love with the donkeys.

I received a copy from #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for an honest review.

I have enjoyed this series since I discovered it, and this is the best one yet. There are always interesting mysteries in this series, and this one is no exception! I always find I enjoy the story more when the victim is really a nasty person, and this is definitely the case here! Even more than the captivating mysteries, I just love the setting and premise of this series. The small ocean Pacific town, the animal sanctuary, the wonderful characters, and the little something extra animals all make me very happy. Georgie lives at the sanctuary on the same property as her Auntie O, the sanctuary founder, the sanctuary caretaker and retired major league baseball player, Georgie's now boyfriend Callum and some really special pets. As Georgie is a screenwriter, her schedule often allows her to volunteer time with friends for town events like the Halloween pumpkin competition at the park and the haunted trail fundraiser for the sanctuary. When a newcomer to town comes in and tries to take over a lot of town traditional events and treats people badly, it is not surprising that someone might want her gone! But who? This is a wonderful fall, Halloween story with delightful decorations, sweet animals, and a mystery to test our favorite people. Many thanks to #Netgalley, #SevernHouse, and the author for an opportunity to read this delightful tale! #TailsfromtheCrypt #MagicalMenagerieMysteries #SarahFox #bookreview #bookideas #retiredreader

This is my first book by Sarah Fox that I have read, and I wasn't disappointed. Yes, it's a magical book but it also comes across with this whimsical feel to it all on its own. I loved the story and that you could actually feel all the things you feel when fall is in season. And oh my gosh, I just fell in love right away with the animal sanctuary. I love all kinds of critters, but I have a special place in my heart for donkeys and reading about those poor neglected souls getting saved made me want to cry and cheer all at the same time lol.

Georgie, Auntie O, Callum and all the rest have such loving and generous spirits. You can feel that as well as read it. Anyway, I also really enjoyed the mystery. I love that it was a mystery inside of a mystery. Those are my favorite. And don't get me started on the magical pups! I loved them a lot and the fact that they had such personalities all on their own and that you can really envision them in this book and their purpose. I really enjoyed that. So often, pet counterparts seem to come off as more of the furniture in the background instead of being front and center. I really loved that.

This book has everything you need in it to imagine a clear crisp fall day and be able to snuggle up and read in a nice soft fluffy blanket. I recommend this book.

Thanks to Net Galley, the publishers, and to Sarah Fox for the ability to read and review this book. All opinions are my own and are completely honest.

"Tails from the Crypt (A Magical Menagerie Mystery #3)" by Sarah Fox has Georgie and the volunteers at the animal sanctuary preparing for a Halloween trail of terror to raise money. They're all also helping with a pumpkin glow in town. Good thing some of this is their jobs too or they wouldn't have time to work. Georgie's boyfriend's parents will be coming for a visit soon, eventually... she's worried they wont like her. Especially if she does appear to be enough of a homemaker.

The mystery part centers around a newer person to town that wants to take over everything. Some major main character syndrome, as my gen alpha child would say. Especially since it's not like she does it in a way to win friends. It's a cozy mystery which means she's either the victim or the culprit. Victim wins the flip. There are several suspects. In a bit of a twist for this series, nearly all but a couple had something to be guilty for tying to the crime.

3.5 rounded up

Found this series on a whim thanks to the ARC on Netgalley. Having said that, I don’t think I missed much by not having read the other books, but I do want to read them eventually.

The spaniels Fancy and Flossie were so cute and I love their little magical powers and the mischief they get into. The townspeople were all so funny and I’m sure would have been funnier if I had read the first 2 books of this series and had more background on Aunt O and the likes. The Halloween cozy mystery setting was perfect for this time of year and I really enjoyed the narrator.

Be warned there is a bit of very G style romance in this but for me it was misplaced. I don’t need that in a cozy murder mystery but maybe I’d be more attached to the former mlb character if I read the other books, so we will see!

Audiobook Review: Tails from the Crypt by Sarah Fox
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

This was such a fun cozy mystery! I really enjoyed the small-town charm, the light paranormal elements, and of course, the mystery itself kept me guessing until the end.

The audiobook narration was solid and easy to listen to, which made it perfect for fall reading. But honestly, the dogs completely stole the show—they were my absolute favorite part! Their personalities added so much warmth and humor to the story.

If you love cozy mysteries with a hint of the supernatural (and adorable dogs!), this one’s definitely worth picking up.

Fun Halloween installment in this creative series. The rescue farm setting sets the scene for the stars of the series. Even though there are human main characters, the animals really steal the show. The magical elements add a fun, unique component to each mystery. An entertaining cozy (magical) series!

Another hauntingly delightful "tail" from Sarah Fox's Magical Menagerie mysteries! Each installment enhances the bewitching vibe of the prior book, and this one was the best yet. The author's love for animals shines through with every scene, which for me is a bonus. Best of all are the characters, who snuggled into my heart and didn't let go. I hope this series continues for a very long time.

Thank you @NetGalley. Sarah Fox writes the cutest magical mystery books. Georgie is back to help her friend not go to jail for murder. It is Halloween and along the spooky trail is a body that is not a prop. Georgie and her two dogs, Flossie and Fancy, are on the hunt for a killer.

“Tails” from the Crypt” by Sarah Fox the 3rd instalment in the "Magical Menagerie Mystery series”. I really enjoyed visiting Twilight Cove, Oregon and the animal sanctuary again especially during the annual Pumpkin Glow and the sanctuary’s Trail of Terror. A new, and rather unpleasant, resident stops at nothing to take over the town, the enemies she makes are numerous . . . and lethal!

Sarah is very good at descriptive writing so you feel like you’re right there walking amongst the woods, on the beach or walking main street and seeing the picturesque stores. I know I would love to live there and be part of Georgie’s friend group.

Who wouldn’t want to hang out with two magical dogs named Fancy and Flossie, a kitten named Stardust, a great horned owl named Euclid, and all the Sanctuary animals (including two new donkeys). Another thing I enjoy is the budding relationship between Georgie and Callum.

I wasn't surprised by what happened to Genevieve Newmont! Having all those suspects drew me in it was entertaining, full of twists and turns and I didn’t completely guess whodunnit until Georgie did.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends and I can’t wait for book 4 to come out!

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Severn House and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Georgie Johansen is just trying to have a normal, pumpkin-spiced October with her magical dogs, a haunted trail fundraiser, and her emotionally available, disturbingly perfect boyfriend (Callum, please take a flaw). But no, someone had to get murdered in the woods, and now the only thing scarier than the Trail of Terror is the possibility that her bestie might go to jail. Honestly, Twilight Cove is one missed latte order away from a full-blown Witches of Eastwick scenario and I am HERE for it.

Let me be clear: I absolutely started this series at book three. I will not apologize. Did I understand everything? No. Did I need to? Also no. The audiobook dropped me into a coastal town filled with wholesome fall chaos, a murder victim with the charisma of a DMV line, and a pack of magical rescue animals who routinely solve crimes better than the local police. The vibes? Immaculate. The logic? Questionable. The entertainment? Peak.

Hallie Bee Bard’s narration is the real MVP here. She gives the whole cast distinct voices, emotionally nails the comedic beats, and... this cannot be overstated... manages to make repeated dog howls sound endearing instead of cringe. I don’t know what black magic she used to make me not hate the sound “Awooo!” after the fifth time, but I salute her for it. The woman could narrate my taxes and I’d still be invested.

The mystery itself is cozy murder 101. Unlikable victim? Check. Endless suspect list of salty townies? Double check. Georgie insisting she’s “not investigating” while full-on interrogating people in the pumpkin patch? Triple check with cinnamon sugar on top. The red herrings were flying like bats out of a dollar store animatronic, and I guessed wrong multiple times before the big reveal. That alone earns it a badge in cozy mystery excellence.

But this book knows exactly where its magical bread is buttered. The animals. Flossie and Fancy are chaotic good incarnate. Magical, snarky, scene-stealing spaniels who literally sniff out clues and emotionally support their human better than half the therapists I’ve had. There’s also a grumpy kitten named Stardust, an owl who’s basically a feathery Gandalf, and some donkeys that honestly deserve their own spin-off novella about healing from trauma and learning to love again. And yes, I cried over a donkey scene. Mind your business.

The romance between Georgie and Callum is... dare I say... functional? It’s sweet. It’s stable. It’s a cozy mystery relationship that doesn’t make me want to throw a candy apple at the wall. That said, I could use a little more tension or banter or accidental shirtless spell mishaps. But hey, sometimes it’s nice to read about two people who are just fine without emotional landmines.

As for the Halloween setting? This book nails the aesthetic. Pumpkin Glow festivals. Haunted trails with theatrical flair. A murder in the woods that’s more Scooby-Doo climax than "true crime podcast." If this town existed, I would absolutely attend their fall festivities and probably get hexed by accident. No regrets.

Is this book high drama? No. Is it the literary equivalent of curling up in a chunky knit blanket with a hot cider and a dog who can see ghosts? Absolutely. It’s cozy with just enough danger to keep you interested, but not enough to make you double-check your locks at night. Solid 4 stars.

Whodunity Award: For Making Me Suspect the Donkey at Least Twice

Big love and slightly chaotic gratitude to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audiobook copy. Y’all really handed me a murder mystery with magical dogs and told me to go feral. I did. And I regret nothing.

4/5 stars: This is the third entry in Fox's Magical Menagerie Mystery series which is a Paranormal Cozy Mystery that is set in Oregon and features a screenwriter who helps run her aunt's animal sanctuary once again finds herself turning sleuth after she finds a new unpleasant resident determined to take over the town dead in the woods and her best friend winds the main suspect. She'll have to work fast with the help of her magical animal friends to uncover the killer before Halloween turns into a real horror show. With plenty of twists and turns, Fox has crafted a mystery that deftly balances the suspects, clues and red herrings and will leave you pondering the whodunit until the final reveal. Heartfelt and humorous, Fox's writing and character work are excellent; the characters are well-rounded and complex while remaining likable. It's a joy to catch up with Georgie, her Auntie O, the sanctuary's volunteers and animal residents and her friends and neighbors in Twilight Cove. Additionally, I really like seeing her romance with Callum, the farm's manager, continue to grow. For the animal lovers, there are plenty, in particular: Georgie's adorable English spring spaniels, Flossie and Fancy, her cat, Stardust, and the ever mysterious Euclid, the owl. Paranormal elements: animals with magical abilities. This book's chock full of spooky Halloween fun, featuring the animal sanctuary’s Trail of Terror and the Pumpkin Glow, the town's annual competition to build the best jack-o'-lantern structure, and plenty of cozy autumnal vibes. Fox touches on some very serious topics; so take care and check the CWs. While you could read this as a stand-alone, you'll gain so much more by reading the series from the beginning; so be sure to pick up book one, Murder Most Owl.

I received this eARC thanks to NetGalley and Severn House in exchange for an honest review. Publishing dates are subject to change.

I enjoyed this book. This is my first adventure into this series but it was such a treat that it won't be my last. I loved the characters, from the sweet romance to the magical animals all are sure to delight. I normally roll my eyes at love life antics and just wish the the author would get back to the investigation but this romance was sweetly done and I felt like it helped make the characters who they are. As for the unusual animals, somehow they worked too, even the owl leading Georgie to clues played in well with the magic of the story and my heart just went out to the rescued donkeys. The mystery was good and I had no clue who the killer was, as there was a number of suspects and red herrings. Living in England we don't make such a big deal about Halloween but the story was so well written that it was easy to imagine the event, so much so that I want to take part in one. Well as long as there is no body to find of courses, I will leave that sort of entertainment up to talented author's like this.

To help raise money for there animal sanctuary, Georgie and her aunt are putting on a haunted trail with life actors to scare the public. The whole town gets involved in the festivities and holds a pumpkin glow event but with the usual event planned unavailable Genevieve steps up, much to everybody's dismay. Nothing is right and she spends more time shouting at people then getting things done. When her dead body is discovered the suspect list is long but with Georgie's best friend at the top of the list, she has no choice but to investigate with the help from her sidekicks. Can Georgie, Flossie and Fancy find the reason behind the murder or is it going to turn into a nightmare?

I Liked the narrator. I listen to a lot of audio books and I have to say this narrator is one of the best one I have heard. I just loved the voices, sounds and accents she gave the characters, it just made it magical listen.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Thank you #SevernHouse and #netgalley for the eArc of this book.

Autumn rules in book 3.
Book 3 finds us celebrating all things autumn and Halloween in the town of Twilight cove and Georgie's animal sanctuary. The sanctuary is holding a haunted walk as a fundraiser and the town is having their annual pumpkin festival. Definitely the perfect September-November read (norther hemisphere that is). A new character joins the festivities, or rather, tries to take charge of all the festivities - causing chaos all about town and with the locals. Volunteers are still stepping up and their toes stepped on as arguments go public. It only gets worse when a body is found and Georgi's friend is a suspect.

Things to take note of. There is a bit of magic involved (just a smidge) that adds to the cozy vibes. And I have to say the romance side is strong with this one. Definitely more prominent than I usually find in a cozy mystery. Both sides (mystery and romance) are well written and enjoyable. The characters are well fleshed out but not in a complicated way. The whodunnit became apparent to me early on, but that didn't take away from the ending. And of course the animals! Love the animals that play a role in the story.

I definitely recommend this series. 4 pumpkins! 3 hearts for the growing relationship and romance! And maybe one chili pepper to go along with the romance. But definitely nothing explicit for either the murder or romance.

Scarier than the Trail or Terrors Georgie and her friends are creating for Halloween is the totally nasty piece of work who “flew into town on her broomstick” and wants to take over. In her wake, nothing but chaos and bad blood follows. So, it is no wonder when Georgie, her boyfriend Callum and her two spaniels with some special talents find her body in the woods. When Georgie’s best friend who had argued with the woman is on the long list of suspects, Georgie feels compelled to get involved. The fact is the case against her friend is pretty flimsy which does detract from Georgie’s need to sleuth but that is pretty petty. When the villain is revealed it was no big surprise, although there were times when the reader might wonder if it is was too easy.

Georgie definitely has help from the two dogs who have paranormal skills. She is not sure yet about her kitty but she has an owl friend, named Euclid, who leads her to bodies and evidence. It is fun as Georgie tries to keep all of this to herself. She has not told Callum although she gets close a couple of times over the story. I would have to say the animals, from dogs Flossie and Fancy and Kitty Stardust to the new rescue donkeys bring an extra element to the story. The romance between Georgie and Callum is also rather sweet.

Four purrs and two paws up.

3.5⭐️

I once again requested the last book of a series from Netgalley but I actually went back and read the first 2 this time! This is a great continuation of a cute and cozy mystery series featuring two magical dogs. I really enjoyed the small, close knit community and the animal sanctuary. The mystery was well done and had a lot of twists I didn't expect. I loved the antics of Flossie and Fancy and how important they were in solving the case.

Something that always blows my mind in cozy mysteries where the main character moves to a small town is that no one questions the uptick in dead bodies? Georgie has been in Twilight Cove for less than six months and there's already been three deaths that she's wrapped herself up in. I would be looking sideways at her. And now that I've read all three books back to back to back, I notice how much detail is put on repetitive things like every meal that is served and the amount of time spent driving back and forth from the farm to the town. That also lead to a lot of instances where the reader is told how to feel about things rather than being shown enough information to make their own decisions.

Thanks Netgalley and Severn House for providing this ARC to me!

Fans will "awoo" at this Halloween installment of the Magical Menagerie series.

Fall has arrived in Twilight Cove and Georgie and Auntie O are planning a haunted Halloween walk as a sanctuary fundraiser. The parts have been cast and Georgie is looking forward to the frightening festivities. A newcomer in Twilight Cove, however, horns in on the annual Pumpkin Glow and tries to bribe for the lead on the walk. The woman is abrasive and rude in her interactions with the townsfolk, so no surprise no one likes her. However, no one expected to find her body near the park for the Pumpkin Glow either.

Since the deceased was not well liked, there are a multitude of suspects, including Georgie's BFF, a teacher who fears for her freedom and her job. With the help of her magical canine sidekicks and a friendly horned owl, Georgie takes the lead to save her friend but at her own peril.

These books truly make me feel cozy. I love the small town feel and the Halloween events. The dogs for me are of course the best part but the addition of two new donkeys at the sanctuary give the reader another reason to smile. I am very excited for another installment in this charming cozy series.

My thanks to Severn House and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pumpkins are aglow and murderers are on the go.

Georgie is helping her Aunt Olivia prepare for the annual Trail of Terror Halloween walk at her animal sanctuary, as well as helping with the local Pumpkin Glow festival. Along with her boyfriend Callum and best friend Tessa, Georgie is drawn into town drama as she stumbles across a dead body while volunteering. Luckily Georgie has plenty of help to investigate in the form of her magic-possessing dogs Flossie and Fancy.

This is my first of the Magical Menagerie Mysteries, and it's safe to say that I will be going back to read the first two books. This book will get you right in the autumn vibes, leaving me wanting to experience a Pumpkin Glow festival in my own city.

A fast-paced and endearing read, the characters are easy to love and the pets are standout stars. Who can resist two precocious dogs who can help you solve a mystery? The romance is also written in a very realistic way, reminding me of my own nerves amidst meeting my boyfriend's (now husband's) parents for the first time.

Thank you to NetGalley and Severn House for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series by Sarah Fox so I was excited to be chosen to review a digital ARC by the publisher.

It's Halloween in Twilight Cove and Georgie, her Auntie O and Callum are volunteering to help at the Pumpkin Glow festival in town. Auntie O and Georgie are also featuring a "Trail of Terror" on the sanctuary property to help support their animal sanctuary. As soon as a new resident in town was introduced, I knew she was going to be the victim. She was that unpleasant.

Ms. Fox's descriptive writing makes the characters and the town of Twilight Cove come to life. Georgie's dogs, Fancy and Flossie are unique and distinctive with their magical powers. They do seem to love to help Georgie solve mysteries; and with their abilities, they seem to be able to find the hidden clues. In spite of the nastiness of the victim, there were only a few suspects for Georgie to investigate; but the story was filled with twists and red herrings that kept me guessing until the reveal. From first page to last, I was hooked.

I voluntarily reviewed a digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from Severn House via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.

Tails from the Crypt is the 3rd fun book in Sarah Fox's Magical Menagerie Mystery series. This paranormal cozy mystery has wonderful characters, a little romance, and two magical spaniel dogs, Flossie and Fancy. Georgie and her Aunt Olivia (Auntie O) run an animal sanctuary and Georgie's boyfriend Callum manages the farm and is a retired major league baseball player. Georgie has some insecurities about dating Callum and meeting his parents but she is making progress. Their relationship is growing very close and they are a great couple. It is Halloween and to raise money for the animal sanctuary, they are hosting some spooky events. A new local lady is trying to take over running some of the events and she is making enemies. When she is found dead, no one is surprised. The suspects are a few locals, a visitor and Georgie's best friend Tessa. Georgie, Callum and the dogs need to narrow down the suspects and clear Tessa. The mystery kept me guessing and the story was very enjoyable! I received an advance copy for free from NetGalley and Seven House and I voluntarily leave this review.

My spooky reading season seems to start earlier and earlier each year. Halloween is my absolutely most favorite holiday and has been since I was very young. So, of course, every fall I read every Halloween theme cozy mystery I can get my hands on!

I didn't realize this was the 3rd book in a series when I requested it to review. I got sucked in by the colorful, fun cover and the Halloween theme. I usually don't read a series out of order, but I did this time!

Definitely back-tracking and starting with book 1! It's already borrowed from Hoopla and ready to go!

This was such a fun read for me! Animals with a touch of magic to them, Halloween, an animal sanctuary.....it clicked every button on my fav cozy scenarios list.

I like the characters, the background theme, the dogs are lovely.....I'm definitely going to read this series!

The story moved at a perfect pace. There were plenty of suspects and suspense, and lots of amateur sleuthing. Add in a touch of magic -- not too much, not too little -- and it was just such an entertaining cozy to read!

I will definitely be reading more from this author! This book put a huge It's Almost Fall smile on my face!

I really enjoyed the Halloween theme of this story and all of the festivities surrounding it. It's time for the annual Pumpkin Glow, when someone who wanted to take over all of the planning ends up dead. She wasn't a fan favorite amongst many people it seems, so the list of murder suspects is endless. However, Georgie's best friend also manages to land herself on that list and so Georgie goes to do her sleuthing alongside her canine companions. Fancy and Flossie may not be the best listeners, but they are great at finding clues!

That narrator did an excellent job with this book and the among of times she probably had to howl like Fancy and Flossie while recording this made me giggle a bit. Her howl was on point along with the narration of the other characters! This story was definitely a perfect Fall read and I enjoyed it. I didn't have a good guess on who the murderer was, but I did have a strong sense on who it wasn't even when the story leaned a bit to try and make you think otherwise. Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Sarah Fox for an ARC of this audiobook. This review is my own honest opinion.

This third book in the Magical Menagerie series is delightful! Georgie, her best friend Tessa, boyfriend Callum, and her Auntie O are helping Twilight Cove get ready for Halloween and preparing the farm for their own Trail of Terror rescue fundraiser. A newcomer to town is trying to elbow her way into running everything, and when she can’t bully her way to the top, she tries bribery. When she turns up dead during the preparations for the town’s big event, Tessa becomes a prime suspect, and all Georgie’s plans to let the police handle it fly out the window.
Aided by her dogs Flossie and Fancy, and Euclid the owl, Georgie tries to clear her friend’s name, while also trying to get ready to meet Callum’s parents, due in town right after Halloween.
The dogs’ and Euclid’s special abilities, two new residents at the farm sanctuary, lots of baked goods, and the warm and supportive relationships among the characters give this book all the feels. I love to finish a book and keep right on smiling.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Tails from the Crypt by Sarah Fox is the third book int he Magical Menagerie series and one of my favorite seasonal cozies. I really enjoy Halloween ones.
Georgie, Callum and Auntie O are getting the sanctuary's Trail of Terror ready for Twilight Cove's annual Pumpkin Glow. Unfortunately, a newcomer to town, Genevieve Newmont, a trouble maker is found dead in the woods. Tessa becomes a suspect in the murder. Georgie and crew investigate but someone doesn't like that at all. It's fun to go along with the crew as they investigate this not too easy to solve mystery.
I love the characters in this book. It's the first in this series that I've read but I'm invested in this little family of humans and animals. I love Fancy, Flossie, Stardust, Euclid and all the animals in sanctuary. Sarah is great at descriptions so you can almost see the the scenes in the book. I'm going back to read 1 and 2 but I don't think you need to have read the prior books because I think I understood everyone from this book.

This review is for the audio version of the book, narrated by Hallie Bee Bard.

3.75/5

Centered around Georgie, her fiancé Callum, and her 2 magical dogs this story takes place as Twilight Cove is preparing for it's annual Halloween festival, the Pumpkin Glow. When the angry, aggressive, and entitled organizer of the event is found murdered, Georgie can't help but to start looking into the crime.

This was alright. I liked the setting as quiet little community filled with interesting people. I'd have liked Georgie and Callum to be more interesting, though. The 2 magical dogs were the most interesting thing about the main character.

The plot wasn't bad but you could kind of guess the outcome ahead of time.

The writing was cute and everything was nice. There were some places where it kind of dragged (the end especially).

I would definitely like to see this world developed more. Give the characters some quirks. I want to know more about the dogs and the farm and the cat. There's a lot of potential here that I'd love to see developed.

This is the third book in the Magical Menagerie Mystery series! It could be read as a stand alone, but I definitely recommend starting at the beginning! This is a really fun cozy mystery series! The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life and I recommend giving this one a listen!

The small town of Twilight Cove, Oregon makes for the perfect magical setting. Plus it’s set at Halloween time, which makes it the perfect read for this time of year! Especially, if you’re looking for something less spooky!

The story has a little something for everyone- mystery, murder, romance, cute dogs, and magical realism. Flossie and Fancy, Georgie’s dogs really make the story in my opinion. They are an adorable pair!

I enjoyed the mystery in this one. I guessed the murderer wrong, which made for a good twist at the end. I also enjoyed the romance between Georgie and her boyfriend, Callum.

Overall, a fun cozy addition to the cozy mystery series! I definitely recommend giving it a listen!
