Review for vol. 1: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I have mixed feeling about the ending part, although it does look like the choices made by the main characters are reasonable, still……….*sighs*….let’s just wait for the sequels okay?

The Girl’s Love/yuri is so, so, so beautiful I love every second of it!!!

However, I do enjoy reading all the magical girls (so prettily drawn) working together to fight against the ‘demons’.

The artwork is so, so, so lovely! *dies*

Well...that happened. Everyone is happy in Homura’s new altered world...except poor Homura herself. Lol and Kyubey and the other Incubators but I couldn’t care less about those little greedy nasty creeps. Dark Homura can just torture them all she likes for all I care, good for her. Kyubey totally deserves to have to take on allllll the despair and curses he and his little fuzzball aliens were giving to the magical girls.

Now the real question...did Homura really turn evil? I think not. I think she sees herself as a horrible thing (hence giving Madoka the ribbons back at the end😭) and she’s a little “off” mentally (who wouldn’t be, the girl should be insane at this point), but I don’t think Homura has done anything downright villainous. She has done some WRONG things but that doesn’t make her evil. It seems to me she is just playing the villain part because she thinks she’s supposed to...like a “well if everyone else thinks I am then fine, I’m a monster evil thing”...but she has really hurt no one except herself with any of her actual actions. Homura’s problem is that she trusts no one’s judgment but her own, she is EXCEEDINGLY stubborn, and really, she is realistically selfish. She’ll do anything for Madoka, but by the same token, she will do anything to get to be with her one and only friend. Yet by the end of Rebellion she thinks she doesn’t deserve Madoka’s friendship and so she gives those ribbons back. I like to think they have a happy ending eventually because I love these characters and I want them all to be happy. They all are in the end...except Homura. So maybe just maybe she is able to find happiness off screen/off pages after Rebellion...

I think it’s obvious by now I still like Homura after the events of Rebellion. Sure she makes very big mistakes and her flaws end up ruining things for her, but I think that’s exactly what makes her my favorite character in the Madoka Magica storyverse.

Also? I guess this makes me a bad person too, because Homura finally FINALLY getting revenge on that Kyubey was very very satisfying. Ahem. Sweet selfless Madoka would have NEVER done that to the Incubators but selfish relatable Homura did.😂 I was like, “Yes!! FINALLY!!! About time...”

All right I am done fangirling now. 5 stars. Obviously.:)

P.S. ...did anyone else notice Homura has tears in her eyes on the cover of this volume? Good grief.

Wait, that's how it ends? That doesn't feel like an ending.

I liked the final battle. I liked the weird artwork and camera angles. I even liked the twist. I just don't like the ending. It really doesn't feel like an ending.

Am I missing something? Is there another sequel that I'm going to have to read to get the true ending?

Cap 7-9 Final

This review contains spoilers for the whole 3 book series!

Right off the bat, this was different than the other Madoka series, though it still revolves around the same five characters- Madoka, Sayaka, Kyouko, Mami, and Homura. This manga series was entirely from Homura’s view point. She realizes that something is “off” about her and her four friends, all magical girls, who fight magical beasts to keep their home town safe. Homura asks Kyouko to return to her home town to prove a point: the peace that they have is not what it seems but a bitter illusion casued by a powerful witch. Homura finds to her horror that she is the witch that created the illusions that entrap her and her friends.

Though all of the magical girls get to live through this version, Homura is now evil, being driven mad from her constant struggle to free Madoka from being one with the universe, and thus no longer existing. I didn’t like that part of the story. I preferred when Homura was the anti-heroine but I suppose her losing her mind was only going to happen sooner or later. Kyubey basically has her entrapped in an endless loop of her trying to stop Madoka from joining with the rest of the universe and disapearing into nothing. I think it makes perfect sense that someone would slowly go insane from constantly trying with everything in their power to save the person they love most in the world from a dark fate of disapearing into obscurity.

I gave this series three stars overall and the third book only two. I just didn’t like the idea of Homura being evil. After reading the other three series, it just doesn’t sit right with me. Though this story does offer a different prespective than the other series do, since all of the girls survive. This story revolves around Homura rather than Madoka (the original series and Homura’s Revenge!) or Mami (The Different Story) but tells yet another story from the other stories.

I FRICKING LOVE THIS STUPID STORY, OKAY?!

*Sigh* Okay. Now that that's out of my system...

The "Rebellion" storyline of Madoka Magica adds a nice foil to the original series through the warping of Homura's love for Madoka. It brings the "Law of Cycles" full circle, and by the end of Rebellion we feel as though we're right back where we started with darkness (Homura, as her devil self) encroaching on hope (Madoka, as her goddess self). It's FRICKING. BRILLIANT. STORYTELLING.

I do think some plot points get a little lost in translation, in both the manga and the anime. Things can get a little confusing, especially as things start to unravel in illusory Mitakihara. But if you pay close attention as you read/watch, you can follow the story and pick out some stellar themes: female friendship, regret, good versus evil, the twisting of love into obsession... It's great. Great story. Great characters. Feminist. Amazing. Even if you don't like anime, you could totally enjoy this series. I'd recommend the anime over the manga first, just so you can see the amazing artwork in motion with the soundtrack. But if you like the anime, I think you would like the manga too.

5/5 stars for the entire series! Now it's time to venture out into unfamiliar territory with the other spin-off manga...

Despite the overall flaw of having a cliffhanger with no ending in sight, the story feels too beautiful - both in art and in writing - to truly punish it for its enthusiasm.
While I think this is a clear example of “pulling a Game of Thrones” (plot twists for the sake of them and simply to keep the audience off kilter) it feels like a natural enough progression not to be too upsetting. Though your mileage may vary.

I liked how Madoka wears her hair down in the last part. (Unlike the anime where her yellow ribbons should be given some justification.)

A girl has a strange dream of her city being destroid. As she watches a girl fight a wich, she feels as if she needs to do something.
Homera has become a witch but the gang helped her snap out of it and they returned to the real world. Madoka has rememberd what she was ment to do. what what? what are you doing? I kinda see a patern in this. Recreating the universe, laws of entity. But why is homera like that?!

It has seemed that homera has split madoka into entity and human. Homera has created a new universe, but homera and madokas roles are switched. Homera, you know that this isent right. Your love has turned you into a devil.

Hermoso, como todos. Sin dudas un final espectacular. Ame la historia y me parece que la autora la supo desarrollar muy bien. No puedo decir que es mi favorito de todos pero me encanto de todas formas.
