The Baileys #6

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny

Rate this book
When a famous music producer moves to Lake Starlight it can’t just be a coincidence. It’s the universe helping to move things along in the right direction so that Griffin Thorne can discover me.

I have to confess—I’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Confession #1: I may have overhead that he was in search of a nanny. What can I say? My brother has a big mouth.

Confession #2: It’s possible I helped along the assumption that I had nanny experience. Hey, babysitting my nieces and nephew counts, right?

Confession #3: There’s a good chance I oversold my qualifications. But my Grandma Dori backed me up, so it’s not completely my fault.

And it worked. He hired me. Only for me to find out that he left the business.
I guess it’s on to Plan B.

When he accidentally overhears me singing, I expect nothing from him. Then he asks to work with me on a song for our town’s Founder’s Day Parade and it feels like a dream come true. Until...

Confession #4: I’ve fallen for him.

Others in the series ~ the whole series
Setting ~ Alaska
Publication date ~ January 7, 2020
Est Page Count ~ 290 (36 chapters +e)
Audio length ~ 6 hours 39 minutes
Narratora ~ Tanya Eby, Tim Paige
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ single dad, boss/nanny, age gap, some steamage

Phoenix (22) & Griffin (33)
She is an aspiring singer and he's a former music producer. When she finds out he's moved to Lake Starlight and is in need of a nanny, she puts on her charm, maybe tells a few fibs, and boom she's hired.

Griffin was a great dad, and Phoenix a great nanny, to Maverick. Even though her family didn't think she could do it she stepped into the role with ease. They made a nice family unit.

Overall, I was not a fan of her lies, his hair length, or his part in the 3rd act breakup, but another fine one in the series.

Series notes:
I definitely suggest reading the whole series in order because all siblings are heavily involved in each book, so you'll get spoilers.

Narration notes:
Not thrilled that the same narrators are doing the whole series since I'm bingeing it. She does fine. He does fine for his regular voice, but all of this other voices are not great, not even the men.

Phoenix and Griffin were so much more than I expected, which I know sounds stupid and I say it nearly every book. But I have these impressions of who each Bailey sibling is from previous books until I read their book and uncover all their depth.

I really expected Phoenix to be young and self centered and maybe a little naive and ditzy. And maybe the first chapter she was a little bit but she was so much more. And I loved that she fell so hard for maverick but wasn't trying to fill the role of parent. For me it just made their relationship special and feel really genuine.

Griffin started off a little shallow with his reasoning for leaving LA but then as he opened up to Phoenix I understood him better. And I really loved his commitment to his son. Which he also had towards Phoenix even if he did go about showing it a little backwards.

This series is just continuing to get better and I love watching the family grow and learning more about each of the siblings as individuals. And the more I get the more I can't wait to see who's next and who's pregnant.

Phoenix has been wanting her brother Denver to introduce her to his friend Griffin Thorne for years and he's always refused to but now is her chance, Griffin is moving to their quaint little town of Lake Starlight with his son and his looking for a nanny. No, Phoenix isn't a nanny she has dreams of becoming a singer but she can watch a eight year old kid while his dad helps her dreams come true can't she.

This story was so much fun I didn't want it to end. The chemistry was great and I absolutely loved the way Phoenix became momma bear when Maverick was having trouble at school. Oh and Maverick totally stole my heart, just don't call him Mav ;)

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny is the sixth book in The Baileys series. This was my first read by Piper Rayne and I’m kicking myself for not starting with the first book in this series. They are all standalones so they can be read out of order, but I would’ve liked to get the full feel of the Bailey family from the start. The good part though, is now I can go back and read all the previous books, so that’s a plus.

Phoenix is the youngest Bailey. Her dream is to become a singer and she’ll stop at nothing to finally get her big break. But she’s also insecure and wonders maybe she’s not a good singer as she thinks she is since nothing came to be when she lived in L.A. for two years. She’s fierce, passionate and has a huge heart. She has grit and so much determination to make her dream happen. I adored Phoenix so much, she was such an enjoyable character.

Griffin has left the life he had in L.A. and moved to Lake Starlight with his son, Maverick to start a new life. He’s looking for a nanny for his son and when he hires Phoenix he has no idea what he’s getting himself into. Little does he know she’s going to flip his world.

Griffin and Phoenix have an immediate connection. It’s a sweet slow burn filled with passion. They were exactly what the other needed. And I can’t say how much I loved the connection Phoenix and Maverick made and how she protected him and was there to listen to anything he wanted to confide in her. I adored all three of these characters.

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny was a very enjoyable read. It had me laughing, swooning and sighing. It had little drama, but it wasn’t dramatic. I loved these characters and the wholesome feeling of family. I can’t wait to read about the other family members in their previous books and I especially can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny was the sixth book in the Baileys series by the authors Piper Rayne.

Phoenix Bailey was a twin and one of nine siblings in the small town of Lake Starlight, AK. Her parents died when she was young and she was primarily raised by her two eldest siblings. In previous books, Phoenix had taken off for LA to explore her singing but had come back slightly broken looking for the next opportunity to pursue her artistic dreams.

Griffin Thorne was a successful music producer who moved to Lake Starlight to leave the music industry, find a slower lifestyle and raise his son. First on his list was finding a nanny. Enter Phoenix. Wait? Phoenix as a Nanny?

The authors took us through the push and pull from Griffin and Phoenix. They had so many things to work through. True to the authors, we were graced with the entire Bailey clan, which brought loyalty and humor.

All in all, it was a fast and well written read. We’ve read six sibling stories and have three left. In the meantime, the novella, Operation Bailey Babies, will provide a fun update and serve as a bridge to Juno’s big story, Secrets of the World’s Worst Matchmaker.

And another Bailey bites the dust. This is a series I will never tire of. Confessions of a Naughty Nanny was just as gripping as the previous books.

Phoenix Bailey is the baby of the family. She is a twin, an aspiring singer (who hasn't caught a break yet), beloved fun aunty and roommate to Denver and Cleo. What she is not is a nanny but after she catches wind of Griffin Thorne moving to Lake Starlight and in search of a nanny, a plan is concocted. She will apply to be his sons nanny and somehow make him hear her sing. It's a genius plan to her but to the rest of the Bailey gang, it's a plan sure to fail. Which is why Denver keeps Phoenix away from Griffin but via coincidence, she runs into him and thus, a nanny is hired. But Phoenix ends up taking her job very seriously and loves it. She bonds with Maverick (Griffin's son) and spends a lot of time with Griffin. Sexual tension arises. Feelings are developed. The Bailey's do what the do best... meddle. (Gotta love Grandma Dori and Ethel)

Phoenix has seemed almost aloof to me during the previous books. She was the Bailey that couldn't hold down a steady job and floated through life. She was so different once we got to know her. She felt a lot and when she was backed into a corner, she shut down. She had her dreams and she would have done anything to achieve it but she was insecure at times. Griffin helped her.

What I missed in this book was Buzz Wheel. The Bailey antics were also less crazy than the other books. I need them to up their game in the next book. That little bomb that Juno dropped has me itching for me.

Once again Piper Rayne impressed me with Confessions of a Naughty Nanny.

I didn't really think I was going to like Phoenix as much as I did. Over the course of this series she's shown a few glimpses of promise. But mostly she's been all attitude. This book however shows a whole new side and a lot more depth to her. I loved seeing her with Griffin's son Maverick.
And the chemistry with her and Griffin was electric. They fought it but they were such a good match.

I thought the whole older guy/younger girl aspect was well done here and overall it was just a really good story.

That cliffhanger regarding what was supposed to be an obvious couple has me very excited too. I can't wait for the next book.

5 Star Review Confessions of a Naughty Nanny (The Baileys #6) by Piper Rayne

I fall more in love with this series, the Bailey’s and their circle of friends as I read each new addition. I adore small town romances and often find myself wishing that I could be a part of the Lake Starlight, Alaska community.

Whenever I pick up a Piper Rayne book about the Bailey’s I know there will be plenty of humour, family and romance. Confessions Of A Naughty Nanny is full of love, family fun shenanigans and ticked all the boxes for me.

I love Phoenix and Griffin together, what an absolutely awesome pairing these two made. I also loved the relationship that Phoenix has with his son, Maverick(don’t call me Mav).

Phoenix has always been the least successful Bailey(in her view) and having to return home after her singing career stalls, has left her with doubts and insecurities.

Learning that Declan’s friend, ex music producer Griffin Thorne, has moved to Lake Starlight to start over, Phoenix is desperate to meet the man who could reignite her singing career, however Declan refuses to introduce her. Phoenix being the resourceful woman she is, manages to meet and get hired as a nanny for Maverick.

I loved how feisty, spunky and determined Phoenix is, she is enthusiastic and yet underneath the surface is a woman who is extremely vulnerable.
The banter between them had me almost in tears at times, such was the humour. The chemistry between the two is so intense, that you can almost feel the sparks flying.

From start to finish, I was captivated by this story. There is so much to love about this story and I hate that we have to wait for so long for Juno’s story. As always Grandma Dori almost steals the book and it was wonderful catching up with the Bailey clan.

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny surprised me. Despite the predictability that rules this series with an iron fist, I loved this couple's story. It felt mature (with an exception of a few scene that just had to add the “family fun” in) and realistic.

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny is Book #6 in the Baileys Series. This book is about the youngest Bailey, Phoenix and Music Producer Griffin Thorne.

Phoenix is officially my favorite of the Baileys! She may be the youngest but she is fierce and passionate and has a humongous heart! I adored this story SO much. Piper Rayne really know how to write all that I love in a romance. Humor, heat and heartfelt emotion. It is the perfect combination.

Phoenix is back home after spending 2 years in L.A. to try to get her music career going. Once she hears Griffin is living in Lake Starlight she sets her sights on him and is determined to get him to notice her singing and applies for the job as his 8 year old son, Maverick’s nanny. But little does she know he has just left the industry and is settling into Lake Starlight for a new start with his son.

I loved Griffin’s son Maverick and the connection Phoenix made with him right from the beginning. He was angry and grumpy at first having to leave his former life in L.A. But once he settles in to Lake Starlight he quickly opens up and I loved that. And the way Phoenix protects him and goes to bat for him at school I just loved too.

Griffin is such a selfless man. He makes some big sacrifices for the ones he loves and also has a huge heart.

Their was a touch of drama in this story but nothing overly dramatic and of course G’ma Dori was back at it with her meddling ways but the humor she brings to these books and this family is everything!

I love Griffin and Pheonix’s connection. It is a super sweet slow burn with the right about of passion and their connection was immediate but not rushed.

The epilogue was the sweetest and filled me up with so much happiness and even brought a happy tear to my eye.

Juno is next and I absolutely loved that tiny little cliffhanger at the end. CANNOT WAIT!

Confessions of a Naughty Nanny by Piper Rayne was so, so good.

From the first page I was hooked, the storyline is entertaining from start to end. I enjoyed getting to spend time will all the Bailey's and their partners and I especially enjoyed watching Phoenix and Griffin's relationship unfold.
I loved them together, they made me swoon, they made me laugh and they made me sigh. These two share something special, they have respect for each other and unconditional love that most of us dream of.
I also loved Maverick, Griffins adorable 8 year old son, he was smart, funny and not shy to tell you how he was feeling lol

He's lost his spark. She's caught his fire. When a little white lie ignites an explosive attraction, it's inevitable that someone is going to get burned. Phoenix and Griffin are quite a pair. The single dad who has lost his way and the dreamer hoping to make her dreams come true. When opportunity knocks neither is ready for the fireworks, but they're bound to enjoy the ride. Rayne struck a chord with the poet in me with Confessions of a Naughty Nanny. From sinfully, naughty to hilariously, funny and heartachingly, delicious, Phoenix and Griffin hit all the right notes with my heart.

(Sedona zu Phoenix in Desires of a rebel girl)

Worum geht’s?

Desires of a Rebel Girl ist Band 6 der Baileys-Reihe.

Ich will doch wissen, wer dahintersteckt.

Mein Fazit

Desires of a Rebel Girl konnte mich von Anfang bis Ende begeistern.

From the beginning of this book you just knew everything was gonna blow up in the heroines face at some point. I wasnt the biggest fan of her in the beginning because i though she was imature and selfish. But when she started being Mavericks nanny (The heros kid) she started growing up. She showed me a side of her that i loved and i started rooting for Pheonix and Griffen.

Griffen was amazing! I always start out expecting the worst when i read about famous people because the can be a huge snob! But Griffen moved away from LA because he didnt wanted to be a part of all that and i could really relate to that. He loved his son and was an amazing dad. When he wanted something he did everything he could to get it. He was perfect for Pheonix!

This book was really great and i continue to love this family! I always gets so happy when I don't only read about the couple but about every family member in the Baileys. Also, the teasers we are getting for Juno's book is both amazing and a little frustrating hehe...

So are you looking for a small-town romance with a hint of fame in it, that will not only give you a romance story but also show you how a family of 9 siblings can take you in and make you feel loved? Then this is your book.

4.5 Stars.

Man do I love them Bailey siblings! And I need more!

Griffin. Single dad. New to Lake Starlight. Former famous music producer. Needs a nanny.
Phoenix. Youngest of the Baileys. Still finding herself. Wants to become a famous singer. Definitely not a nanny.

This book was soooo good! I’ve been waiting for Phoenix’s story for so long! She was such a big part of previous books and her attitude made me love her and crave more of her! I couldn’t wait for her to find her HEA!

Also... OMG THE END OF THE BOOK! Can someone message me about it? I need to talk about what’s to come!! Piper or Rayne... y’all want to be my new best friend and send me book 7? Pleeeeeeease!

Oh Phoenix what are we going to do with you 🙈

This book was awesome. I don't think I will ever get enough of these authors. From the minute I started this book I couldn't put it down.

Phoenix was the blacksheep of the Baileys and everyone has been given her a chance so she can find out where she belongs. But she was born to be a singer. It just didn't work out for her. Well until she found out that Griffin Thorne famous music producer was moving to Starlake she knew she had to meet him. And bonus he needs a nanny.

Griffin Thorne has had enough of LA and decided to take his son and move to Starlake. But he needs a nanny and when he 'accidentally' runs into Phoenix he hired her especially as her grandmother vouched for her.🤷‍♀️ He just didn't know that he was going to become a LA cliche... Having a 'thing' with the nanny.

This book was so good. It had everything in it. Love, Romance, humor, Angst, suspense and of course the whole Bailey clan. I knew that Phoenix story wouldn't be easy because hey she wasn't easy since we started this series, lol. But it was worth every page...

I don't know what I'm going to do when this writes comes to an end. I feel like we have become immersed in this family and rooting for each one to find their happily ever after. I am waiting for Junos story💖💖

I swear these Baileys' books just keep getting better and better- Phoenix just skyrocketed up to first place for me and that is saying something if you have read the other books in this series.

Phoenix is known for rushing head first into situations. When she returns to Lake Starlight from failing as a singer in LA, she is a fraction of herself and has zero confidence in her abilities. A famous music producer moves in to town and she sees it as a sign in which she NEEDS to meet him, which sets in motion a HUGE and complicated story. This huge and complicated story is humorous, heartwarming, steamy, and all in a all, a freaking wonderful book and addition to the Bailey series!

In addition to Phoenix's story we get more information on our previous favorite Baileys as well as a MAJOR glimpse in what is coming next for this amazing family, which I will let you know is a DOOZY!! All in all this is a wonderful 4.5 outta 5 stars from me and I love this family even more than I thought I could.

PS: HUGE Thanks to both Piper and Rayne and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!!

With the new book just being released Operation Bailey Babies, I figured as I was a couple of books behind that I better get back into reading Piper Rayne's series The Baileys. Book #6 features one of the youngest twins - Phoenix Bailey. She is our female wild-child. The one who always thought she was too big for the smalltown of Lake Starlight and with dreams of being a famous singer, she went to LA straight after graduation. Only to return home not long after as things weren't as great as she imagined. Phoenix still dreams of being a singer but now has to find another one to pursue her dream of being a star. Enter Griffin Thorne, former music producer, and friend of Denver Bailey. Now retired from the music business and being a single father of Maverick, he is on the look for a Nanny. Enter Phoenix, who believes that this is her "in" and bumps into Griffin and one thing leads to another and she becomes a Nanny for Maverick aka Mav. I did love the fact that all the Baileys called him Mav and he kept correcting them. Of course along the way Griffin and Phoenix have strong feelings for one another and things start heating up, but what will happen when Griffin finds out that Phoenix dreams of being a singer and he feels used and betrayed. With Phoenix hurt and Maverick moping since Griffin got rid of Phoenix whom he was growing to love, can Griffin win back Phoenix and Phoenix prove to Griffin that he is her "One" at least for now seeing as she is only in her twenties and still has her life ahead of her. Confessions of a Naughty Nanny was another good book in Bailey's family series and now we have three siblings left - Juno, Kingston, and Sedona.

I enjoyed this book, once we got to the parts that were focused on Phoenix and Griffin. For a lot of the book, I thought there was too much time devoted to secondary characters (I get it, they are all part of the Bailey family) and at times it was hard to keep track of who was coming, going, and interacting with them in the story.

But, when it was just them? Well, I enjoyed them a lot. I loved the attraction that was forged because they were both trying to figure out what they wanted...in a world that seemed to have already decided the path they should be on, and didn't really seem to need their opinions.

The scenes with Griffin, once they really started to pursue their attraction to one another were really relateable and felt real. I loved the characters, and who they were, and the way they not only related to one another but seemed to believe in one another.

Overall, I did enjoy this title, and I do recommend it...even though there are times that seem to feel like it's more of an ensemble story than a book with 2 main characters.

griffin thorne, acclaimed music producer, moved to lake starlight with his son and left the industry. ever since she could wind of this news, phoenix bailey had wanted her brother to introduce her to griffin. phoenix doesn't really have any experience in being a nanny but hurried to get one, griffin hired her without knowing that she actually has an ulterior motive which is for him to discover her as a singer.

phoenix and griffin has wonderful chemistry from the beginning. even though phoenix was portrayed as the irresponsible one, she did a great job in standing up for maverick when he needed the support. she became very protective of the 8-year-old even though maverick didn't want to open up to strangers. one thing i appreciated was that despite her ability to sing beautifully, there's still some flaws in phoenix's singing. she wasn't the perfect singer but with griffin's help, she became a better version.

i'm still loving the big family. the siblings would do anything for one another. it's really sweet.

Phoenix is officially my new favorite Bailey!

We’ve seen her in past books as the spoiled rotten girl who hasn’t found he way. She still has some of those same qualities, but she uses them as a cover. She is actually an insecure girl just trying to fight for her dream. She has grit, determination, and and inner strength that you will come to love in this book. At some points you will want to yell at the other Baileys for treating her like the baby, but as always, Grandma Dori is there to save the day!

Griffin was such a back and forth character who was indecisive about his intensions which is understandable. There’s the age gap, a kid, and the Baileys in general are intimidating. One thing that stayed constant was his love for his kid and him wanting what was best for Phoenix.

This was definitely my favorite Bailey book so far. The journey was amazing. You get to see love, following a dream at all costs, selflessness all around, and a general understanding that you can’t make people do things that they don’t already want to do.

It’s always so much fun getting to catch up with this family and see where everyone is at in their lives. So many secrets are revealed in this book about the family and the cliffhanger for the next book will leave you’re jaw hanging open. And now we wait...

This series, this family makes me fall more in love with them after every book. The unbreakable bond that has formed with these siblings from such a heartbreaking tragedy is incredible! Phoenix is one of the youngest Bailey's and the one whose dream to make it in L.A. as a singer came to a screeching halt. Griffin Thorne is the famous music producer whose had enough of the L.A. scene and decided to raise his son in Alaska. Phoenix just wants Griffin to hear her sing but what happens when a little white lie backfires? What happens when you fall for the cliche? I loved this book so much....I laughed as usual with Grandma Dori and her antics, empathetic to Phoenix's vulnerable side, frustrated with Griffin's cynical side..... the storyline was captivating and left me wanting so much more! If you haven't started the Bailey's yet, what are you waiting for?? This is a series I highly recommend!
