With second chances come new challenges...Peter Busch-McGinley is living his best life in Fertile Valley. He's making up for lost time with his daughter, bringing his grandpa's farm back to its former glory, and keeping up with his new duties as the Harvest Goddess' champion.
Yet a new darkness lurks in the woods. Mysterious shadows that feed on people's emotions, all working for an ominous creature that lives deep beneath the mine. He'll have to rely on help from an unlikely source to set things back on track again.
Can Pete find a way to work with the Queen of the Mines to save Fertile Valley? Or will the darkness claim them both?
I really enjoyed the continuation of this series and I hope it keeps going! I appreciated that Queenie takes the initiative to help Pete with quite a few things. There's a few plot points that just wouldn't be taken care of otherwise. Having other characters actively participating in the plot is better than having a bunch of eye candy or trophy girls in my opinion. It's a good slice of life storyline and it was nice to see the power of burgers bring people together. There's a good set up for the third book and Pete's powers are growing steadily throughout and not overpowering him to just breeze through the problems. I think what Grandpa Joe left Pete is one of the best parts and my favorite words are, 'Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.'
4.5 stars. The story is developing, and the characters are generally interesting. I see definite parallels with the Master Class series with the general setup and the prominent child character, and I'll be honest, the latter is not my favourite bit to take up a lot of the word count. The scope seems to be expanding, so a fair bit of potential is left.
Overall it does its' thing well and is rated accordingly.
The best lines I've read by Virgil or Annabelle. The sentiment in the final chapter made my heart nearly block my throat. I have heard the words I read since I was seated on my Mom's , I still do to this day. I fell in love with Annabelle when I read Radley's Home and the feelings just keep growing. I read to give my life substance, and at the age of 70, I hope I continue to find works that even approach this offering.
The second installment of this adventure is just as much fun as the first! A good man who just wants to improve his farm, build his family, and raise his daughter right, yet keeps finding himself at the center of escalating events.... with perhaps a bit more sexy fun than other men.
I have had my ups and downs with this story (including volume one). Sometimes wonderful, sometimes the MC is portrayed as a total prat. When is said, I landed on just much much I actually enjoyed this work. Well done, Authors Hawthorne and Knightly. I DO hope you decide to pen a third volume!
Alternate universe, magic, fantasy races, save the valley, LitRPG, harem adult situations
Pete gets closer to his daughter, and more women of the valley express interest in helping him. Unexpected twists, and a decidedly different way to grind out XP. Charming ending, and look forward to the next book in the series. Excellent editing. Enjoyed.
I really enjoyed the first book and was really looking forward to this book. I just finished it and was very disappointed with it. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this book.
It was a great continuation with a kinda cool twist at the end. Not much for new characters, but we get to see Cindy fleshed out a little more. I'm excited for the next one.
I loved the second book in the Fertile Valley series. Great LitRPG adventures with Pete and his harem ladies and his dog Fierce boy. Amusing page turner of a story. Highly recommend!
Plot twist, growth and new experiences. These characters are becoming more enjoyable with each word. I think we all wish the valley so we can become part of it
Good storytelling. Great character development. The plot includes the growth of the MC, challenges to be overcome, and changes within his family. It will be interesting to see how he adapts to the challenges he will face in book 3.
Great second in series . The Harvest Champion is really making his way . The interaction of all the characters is really good and it's just getting started. I hope the series continues as it's a blast!
