Rate this book
Every legacy has a beginning.
In 1935, in New Orleans, Marguerite Beauregard lives a quiet life on Bayou Road—until the arrival of a mysterious woman shatters her world. Claiming to be Marguerite’s great-great-granddaughter, the enigmatic Amelia warns of a sinister Les Ombres, a secretive occult society determined to sever the city’s connection to the spiritual world.
With the legendary pendant of her ancestor Marie Laveau now in her possession, Marguerite must confront the shadows of her family’s past while discovering the untapped power within her bloodline. Guided by Amelia’s wisdom and her own growing strength, she faces the terrifying truth of her destiny—to become the protector of New Orleans.
But the cost of balance is steep, and the fight for the crossroads will demand sacrifices Marguerite isn’t sure she’s ready to make. As Les Ombres closes in and ancient rituals come to life, Marguerite learns that the legacy of the Voodoo Queen is more than power—it is love, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond between generations.
The prequel to The Voodoo Queen Book one of Echoes of the Cresent Series, Voodoo Origins, weaves a tale of family, power, and the enduring fight to protect the soul of New Orleans. Discover the story that started it all—and prepare for the battle to come.

A good start to the series as we are introduced to Miss Beauregard, the Voodoo Queen.

We learn about her past, present and her future?

Look forward to reading the next books in the series.

This was a strong start to the Echoes of the Crescent City series, it had that element that I wanted from the description. I was hooked from start to finish and enjoyed getting to know the legacy of the Voodoo Queen. The characters were so well written and enjoyed the overall way they were written in this type of book. Elizabeth Whitmore wrote this so well and was glad it had that feel that I was looking for.

I love stories about Voodoo and New Orleans. The history, the people, the culture, the food and what lies beneath. This book is a great start to what I believe is going to be an awesome series. The folklore surrounding Marie Laveau has always drawn me to any book that has her included. I have read horror and urban fantasy books that discuss the various myths surrounding her and her adventures. I am excited to read this new collection. I hope to learn more about the balance of good and evil.

This is an interesting introduction to the series. Ms. Beauregard is introduced to us when she’s a young child, as the great great granddaughter of one Marie Leveau. Then in 1935 her great great granddaughter shows at her door to give her what she needs to become the protector of New Orleans, the bayou, and the loa. This is all told to an attorney by Ms. Beauregard to make sure her affairs are in order as explained by her great great granddaughter. Looks to be an interesting series!
