Since the moment Maverick laid his eyes on hers, he knew she was going to be his damnation. He was sure he would do whatever she wanted him to do. He also knew that he would protect her in whatever shape or form that protection came.
Maggie doesn't mix business with pleasure. She's cautious, professional, and doesn't give her heart away easily after getting her heart broken. With him, all it took was one night for her to throw away her rules.
When Maggie needed him, he played the role of the doting boyfriend. Lines began to blur, and feelings to change, until both of them started to feel more. Even when they tried to deny it.
Can Maggie overcome her fears, confront her past, and find her happily ever after along the way? By protecting her, will Maverick lose the thing he cherishes the most?
Please Note: Stringed Arrangement is the second book in a series of standalones planned in an interconnected series. And while the main protagonists of other books will make appearances in the rest of the series, they will not be the main characters. Not suitable for readers under 18.
Pen-named author Carolina Guzman is a twenty-something year old, proud Latina/Hispanic, born and raised in Puerto Rico with a hopeless romantic heart. She has been avid reader since the age of 7. She’s been writing since she was 13 years old, and it has been her dream to publish her work since as long as she can remember.
She has always been a bookworm, a passion instilled in her by her godmother, who was a kindergarten teacher. She is a fangirl. When she is not writing, you can find her devouring books or collecting BTS photocards and crying over them. She currently lives in the Nation’s Capital (Washington, DC), the place who inspired her to write books about romance in the politics world with her never-ending TBR.
liked Political affairs but I loved Stringed Arrangement. The connection between the main characters was stronger and better done in this one.
Maggie and Maverick were well written characters. Politics is part of the story but isn’t a focus. They work on a politician’s team and you do get a few scenes with them working.
I liked the story about how they first met. Maverick was an overprotective friend turn boyfriend but for a good reason (would be a spoiler).
You don’t have to read Political Affairs first but I would suggest it. There are a few chapters that run in tandem with book one.
I really hope Isa and Ryan get their own book.
Thank you @authorcarolinaguzman for allowing me to be part of your ARC team.
I didn't think anything could top book 1 in this series, but Carolina outdid herself. The chemistry between the characters instantly draws you in, making their build-up even more fun to read. I'm a sucker for a fake dating trope where the guy is so obviously in love with the FMC, and Maverick is the definition of a lover boy. You won't regret picking this book up!
Another cute and cozy story out of the Capitol Series. I liked how the characters from book 1 were present but didn’t feature too much in the story, leaving room for Maggie and Maverick to become the reader’s main focus after meeting them in book 1.
