Richard Newton is the best selling author of a range of non-fiction books who has recently made the scary jump into fiction writing.

His published works are mostly niche non-fiction books. His first book for everyone, Dream It, Do It, Live It was published 2013. More recently, he published the novella A Touch of Absolution. He's been writing fiction for decades, but this is the first time it has been available to the public.

His books have been translated into 17 languages and won awards, including the Management Book of the Year 2013.

He reads all the time, and for the last few years he has written a review of every book he has read. The reviews reflect his eclectic tastes in reading - good literature, a lot of philosophy, for professional reasons business books, history, travel and mountaineering books - and books about central Asia which is a bit of a personal obsession. But depending on his mood, whim, or the direction of the wind he reads a wide variety that does not fall into any of these categories.

Richard is interested in philosophy, mountaineering, trail running, working and travelling in interesting places, as well as a wide range of music. He works internationally, with home being split between the Cotswolds, UK and the Tatra's, Poland. If you have questions or comments or just feel like chatting get in touch with Richard

I've got to start by mentioning that I don't normally read this kind of "self help" "make your dreams happen" sort of books, so I was really curious to see what they're all about. Surprise: I actually liked it. The arguments are really sensible and the twist with the characters giving examples of the authors' points is really helpful. Just preaching theoretically is not good enough, in my opinion. All in all, it's a book that made me less skeptical with respect to this "genre" and I'm considering mapping my big dream as well. Oh, forgot to mention, I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway, so try your luck too :-)

Being stuck in a important project, I was very excited to read Dream It, Do It, Live It. Luckily I also won it thanks to Goodreads.

Looking over the nine seemingly simple chapters: 1 Dream, 2 Think, 3 Draw, 4 Start, 5 Progress, 6 Persevere, 7 Look Forward, 8 Arrive, and 9 Dream Some More, I was suddenly enthusiastic and daunted simultaneously. After diving in to the forward, I grew a little apprehensive. The introduction of three example subjects was overkill for me. Most guidance books, such as Dream It, Do It, Live It have a sense of repetition to them, as does this one. Adding the utopian perspective of three others along their own path did not provide me with the feeling of comradery the authors intended. Other readers may feel differently.

Dream It, Do It, Live It did provide various concrete steps to achieving steps along the way to creating long term projects/goals. Additionally, the authors were direct and honest about the psychological and emotional aspects of achieving such significant tasks. Though on the surface, Dream It, Do It, Live It is another 'dream big' handbook, it was refreshing to take in the information, encouragement, and practical perspective from the European perspective. The authors give readers the "reach for the brass ring" enthusiasm with the understanding, live in the moment grace of the European spirit.

I love the simple step by step format of this book, it gives the reader a relaxed and level headed approach to working toward their goals. Self help/personal growth type books can at times be 50% sales pitch, this one was nothing like that. It was done in a very fun, warm and easy to utilize style.

Don't be deceived by the size of this book. It contains a wealth of practical advice for making your dreams become your reality. Since both authors are indeed living their dreams, they're well qualified to explain how to do it.

The authors advise reading the book all the way through first, to get a feel for what it is they are doing, and then going back and focusing on each chapter one by one. I found this to be good advice. Some of the methods they describe may be very unfamiliar at first, so it's worth re-reading the instructions and then trying out each technique for yourself to get the hang of it.

To get the most out of this book you will need to approach it with an open mind and a willingness to overcome inertia. You may need to learn something new (like mind mapping). But the success stories of the book's four "heroes" and its two authors will show you that it can be done. Those people put the method to the test and overcame a lot of obstacles to achieve their dreams.

My only quibbles are that (1) the book is written in UK English and the style may take some getting used to, for people who speak and read other English dialects, and (2) some of the techniques can really only be fully understood if you try them for yourself. The illustrations will help, but you really have to do it to learn it.

Не могу сказать, что с первого прочтения нашла эту книгу гениальной. Но, с другой стороны, я ее прочитала бегло, чтобы потом начать читать ее не бегло, а параллельно с реализацией следующей мечты. Посмотрим, что из этого получится!

There were some good points in this book, but I didn't like the format / writing style.
