3.5 STARS Not what I expected. The writer concentrates too much in Jaret's filthy personality, but the background story wasn't enlightened enough. The story was just missing something. The book was as been written in a rush. I found it difficult to connect with the two main characters, and I was definitely not satisfied with the conclusion.
Filthy by Clarissa Wild was a short but interesting read, it is a novella of the Fierce series, and although I did not read the others it was easy to understand and could stand alone! It did not end in a cliff hanger!
This is the story of playboy Jaret Paxton, a young man brought up in an influential rich family, and was always left alone to be raised by the maids in the home as his parents were too busy. They gave him everything he wanted as long as he went to College, however this is not what happens. Jaret turns into a hedonist, totally letting himself be controlled by drinking, loose women who he never stayed with after he got his orgasm, never brought them home and usually the hook up would be in a bar bathroom! So all the wealth, love, family and education were all lies. Jaret is broken and constant sexual hookups make him forget.
Then one night he runs into the only girl he ever loved, the staff's daughter at his home. From the time they were young kids they always gravitated towards each other, even though the little girl was brought up strict, Jaret and the little girl Lin always found ways to be together until the parents decide to send her off to finishing school, so she will be ready for college-their wants for her not her wants for her life! Jaret and Lin feel so sad and helpless, and life goes on.
One night at a strip bar, Jaret runs into Lin! Finds out she is living with an abusive cage fighter as she owes him money for paying off her student loans. She has no choice. Jaret is horrified and does what he does best-plays poker and wins the money, to give her to pay this man off.
Will Jaret and Lin get together again- the both of them being the only ones they have ever loved? Will the fighter stop Lin from leaving him? Will he try to hurt her or Jaret?
This story was filled with a lot of emotional angst, different situations, and the results of Jaret and Lin spending one night together, causes her boyfriend to call and threaten her parents, and challenge Jaret for Lin. Will Jaret fight this jerk, will he win?
Do yourself a favor and read this - I loved the way it ends and I know you will too!
I gave this 4***** stars, and look forward to reading the other parts of this series!
I was so excited when I heard that Clarissa was writing Jaret's book; I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Jaret has gone through quite an evolution. In Fierce, he was just Hunter's strange roommate. In Fury, we got to know him a little better. He helped Hunter out with the gang, but only up to a certain point because he was worried about the consequences. He seemed a little selfish to me because of that, but he could have chosen not to help at all, so I thought he was alright. In Flame, he stood out as much as a secondary character can. We really saw a different side to him. He was wise, thoughtful, and he helped Hunter come to his senses whenever he was lost. I really started to like Jaret and I hoped that he would get his own story. I'm so glad that he did!
Jaret is a one night stand kind of guy because the girls don't want him for him and he's hung up on the one girl who did, Lin. Jaret has always loved Lin and he is lost without her. He finds her again in an unexpected place and she's different from the girl he knew. He refuses to let her get away from him a second time and decides to fight for her. Lin wants to be with him too, but she has debts that she thinks makes it impossible for them to be together. She has to decide whether to put her pride on hold and let him help her. I loved Jaret! He's sexy and dirty, but he's also sweet on Lin. You never question his love for her or his determination to claim her. I also enjoyed meeting Lin's character. I thought she was going to be like Autumn, and while Lin is nice like her, they are really different. She's not shy, she knows that she wants Jaret and she refuses to let him hold back. She loves him and is willing to forget about her parents' honor to be with him.
Pride is a major theme in this book. It ranges from not having any of it, to having too much of it, to learning to let go of it to accept help. It was a nice balance – showing how too much pride can hurt you and others, but that you do need to have some pride to prove that you care. I loved how Filthy showed that sometimes you need to accept help and there's nothing wrong with needing it or accepting it.
Flame is still my favorite in the series, but I did love Filthy. It is a novella so you can finish it one sitting if you don't get interrupted. I didn't mind the shortness, though, because everything moved at a nice pace without too many complications. It might seem like Lin and Jaret's relationship develops really fast, but they have loved each other for years, and they finally get to be together, so they don't fight against it. I love that!
I finished Filthy with a big smile on my face; I loved it! I will absolutely read it again; it's filthy hot with no cliffhanger and a great HEA. I definitely recommend it to anyone who's read the series and loved it. ~ Paige, 5 stars

I am all tied up in Clarissa Wild’s Fierce series. I have read all the existing installments, enjoyed them, and thus I was both intrigued and excited at the prospect of getting a book (and some history) for Jaret. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what I was going to get from the rich, bad boy and I wasn’t sure what I wanted, either....
Jaret Paxon appears to have it all. Money, expensive toys, women on their knees before him. But it’s not real. His life is broken and spiraling out of control and he’s not sure where he’s going. When he encounters Lin, the girl that he loved and lost, in the last place he would expect to find her, he knows that his life isn’t the only one that’s broken.
Jaret wants to help the one girl that makes him want to be a better man. He’s determined to save her from the trouble she’s found herself in. He wants her – even though he knows that Lin is too good for the filthy, ex-dealer he’s become.
I wanted to love this novella, but sadly I didn’t. I liked it well enough, but I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. Writing a novella is an art, no doubt, because there is a trick to making a story feel complete in a short form.
This novella felt more like a short story, an introduction, than a complete story. The pacing of the story felt off – things happened too fast or too slow – and there wasn’t enough history for me to believe in the connection between Jaret and Lin or to get invested in their future.
Having said that, I found the filthy-as-f*ck sex scene to be....filthy-as-f*ck. Yep, it was very hot. I enjoyed seeing a little bit of Hunter and his Leafy, Autumn. It was great to finally see a little more of Jaret, after he redeemed himself (somewhat) in Hunter’s POV, Fury. There was definitely plenty here for fans of this series – and it’s enough to make me interested in reading more from these characters (I say Hunter’s brother needs a book, stat). I just wish there had been more...
Filthy is the third book in the Fierce series and can be read standalone, but I would recommend getting acquainted with the series first. No cliffhanger. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars.

Filthy was my second experience reading a Clarissa Wild book and definitely not the last. Filthy is a quick read that I could have kept reading more of, this one has potential to be a novel. The characters were complicated and with people from previous instalments appearing, all the tie-ins are great.
Jaret Paxon is on the outer with his parents after the College fiasco and the only way to squander away his days are by drinking, girls and gambling. He is known throughout as a womaniser, but that doesn’t stop the women lining up in droves to have his attention and use his body. He is always honest with them about his intentions though, never wanting anything serious.
This one night, Jaret bowed out with a girl and is hoping the next club meets his needs. Kitties Club is having a masquerade night and the girls are all very tempting. Party time consists of Jaret being dragged onto the dance floor and being rubbed against by a lovely beauty that seems a little familiar.
Jaret kisses this girl and she is shocked, the girl removes his mask and he removes hers; that’s when they realise they know each other. The girl is Lin, a childhood friend Jaret hasn’t seen since she was shipped off to boarding school years ago. What is she doing working in a strip club? Lin runs off and Jaret is even more confused.
Jaret goes to a fight that Hunter is partaking in and coincidentally sees Lin again, but this time she isn’t alone, Lin is with the guy Hunter was fighting; a big brute of a man that looks dangerous. Lin leaves and Jaret follows wanting to talk. Lin doesn’t want to cause trouble and she’s with somebody, but there seems to be more going on than Lin is telling him.
Lin’s family is proud and won’t accept help, this trait has been pushed onto Lin her whole life. Jaret is determined to have Lin back in his life though and won’t let her run from him anymore. Will Lin open up to Jaret? Will Jaret change his lifestyle? What happened to Lin that changed her life so drastically? Is their friendship strong enough to last?
Filthy is Jaret’s story, find out what goes on inside the mind of a college drop-out and why he wants to drink and womanise his way through life. I really enjoy reading this series; it’s fun, steamy and quick. I would love them to be a little longer, but overall a very enjoyable series that should be read by all new adult readers.

Yay, we finally get to sink our teeth into Jaret! Having loved his support role in the Fierce series, I was really looking forward to finding out more about him and for him to reveal himself to us, in more ways than one! Filthy is that story and it's a story that will leave you wanting much more from Jaret, his "filthy" mind, and his lovable character.
Jaret has a reputation of being a man-whore. One night stands are his thing and having nameless girls on their knees in front of him is his kink. After falling short with his latest conquest, he heads to another club and behind his mask he comes face to face with the girl of his dreams, the girl from his past, and the once love of his life, Lin.
Lin has found herself in a difficult situation but reluctantly agrees to let Jaret help her.
The story continues with Jaret and Lin rekindling their relationship and trying to escape the abusive relationship she has found herself in.
Sadly, I found this story to be too short, even for a novella, and it left me wanting more. I didn't get the feeling of complete satisfaction at the end of this book and I nearly cried when it finished at 79%.
Despite the statement in the synopsis, I wouldn't recommend reading Filthy as a stand-alone as you need to experience Jaret in the other books to love and really understand him, plus this really doesn't showcase Clarissa's talent for writing gripping stories.

"Lin knows me. She knows me better than any other girl does; my weaknesses, my stupidity, my power, my love and my pain. She knows everything, which is what makes it exciting."
Jaret Paxon is the 'rich' guy. Or so he leads everyone to believe. He grew up with rich parents that were never really around. His parents would shower him with presents and expensive toys to make up for it. Jaret has a new woman everyday of the week. Never the same, generally never knows their names, and never brings them home.
When he runs into Lin at a club... Well things get very interesting. Lin is 'that' girl for him. The one he thought he'd never see again. Lin's parents worked for Jaret's and being they were the same age they played as kids. They were best friends. Lin's parents were very strict, never wanting to take a handout from anyone. Everything in life, for her and her family, had to be earned. It was about honor and reputation.
I was always a Jaret fan. Always curious about him and his life from the beginning of this series. He's jaded, but I never knew why. He's a man-whore, but I never knew who made him that way. And he's extremely loyal - to a fault. Not to mention all the other great things about him!! So when he sees Lin in an unpredictable and 'not very Lin' circumstance, well he wants to be the knight to save the day. But with Lin's parents morals engrained in her head, she's not agreeable to accept. Now that he's found her again, he just doesn't want to let her go. Jaret feels like he had no meaning, he was a loser, and was wasting life. Finding Lin really brings out all the great things that were just under the surface.
I loved every second about this book AND this series as a whole! Clarissa Wild is one hell of an author!!
This book was so amazing Clarissa Wild is one of my favorite authors and this book proves it. Jaret and Lin lived in the same house as kids but were worlds apart when it came to parenting. Jaret got whatever he wanted his parents are rich and was never around so they tried buying his love didn't work. Lin on the other hand had strict parents and didn't allow her to do anything her job as their child was to do great in school and be a lady. But when she went to go play with Jaret she always got in trouble and then one day she was gone to boarding school. Even though Jaret's parents offered them help Lin's parents had too much pride to take it and that's where Lin and Jaret's lives go down hill.
Jaret was heartbroken when Lin left and started acting out like crazy where his parents disowned him gave him the house and money to live on his own but once the money was gone they weren't going to help him. Lin went to boarding school and her parents put all their money into it so when college came along there wasn't enough. But Lin always wanted her parents approval and wanting them to be proud of her so she was going to do everything possible to finish college. If it meant working as a waitress at a strip club to payback the loan she took out with a loan shark then so be it. The loan shark didn't only want the money back but also her body as well so when she was waitressing at the strip club and kissed this guy she couldn't believe her eyes when she lifted his mask to find Jaret. When Jaret saw Lin he couldn't believe his eyes his sweet Lin that was always searching for her parents approval working at a strip club he was in shock. He was not leaving her until he gets answers and he's not leaving her period he finally found the girl he has been in love with his whole life.
That's where the story begins and it is amazing ups and downs I cried, laughed, and got hott I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed.

Filthy is a short novella and is part of the Fierce Series. It can be read as a standalone; however, I feel it’s best to read the others first to get a better understanding.
This novella tells the story of Jaret. He loves women; they hang round him night after night at the local club, and he always gets what he wants. Jaret is a dealer, gang member and pretty much doesn't give a damn about anyone or anything. Cut off from his parents when he didn't do as they wanted, he’s alone, broken and gets by on women and booze. By chance, he runs into Lin at a strip club. They were each other’s first love but things ended when Lin was sent to finishing school. Lin’s working in the club to pay off a loan. Jaret cannot believe it when he sees Lin again! The only girl he’s ever loved has made him more determined than ever not to let her go! He finds out where she’s living and who with. Her current partner is a fighter, abusive towards her, and even though she wants to leave him, she has no choice but to stay as he paid off her student loans. She agrees to let Jaret help her, so he sets out to try and free her of this man and win her for himself. Fate has handed him a second chance and he’s unwavering in his decision to take it. When Bobby, the man Lin lives with finds out about the two of them, threats are made and he challenges Jaret to match… will he accept? Will Jaret be able to protect Lin and will they ever be able to have a life together?
It’s wonderful to see the character of Jaret finally mature and put Lin’s happiness above all else. There are twists and turns, emotion and sweetness. This story is hot and sexy which you’d expect with a book by Clarissa!
This little beauty will take you on a whistle stop tour of life as lived by the inimitable Jaret Paxton Life was everything a young boy could have dreamed for, as Jaret was growing up, the only problem was it was not Jaret’s dream. Left alone to be raised by the staff around him, Jaret wanted nothing that was offered to him and when the illumination of college was held over him, he finally snapped – because that was the last place he wanted to be. Living from then became nothing more than an endless round of drinking and women – the more the merrier, they helped him to forget the fact that to his folks he barely existed and never had. Jaret’s life had one bright spot growing up, Lin. But even she had been taken away from him when her folks, members of staff at his parent’s home, had packed her off to finishing school. As kids they had been friends but like Jaret, her hopes and dreams for her future had been decided for her by her parents , so they had more in common than most. Could they forge a new friendship? Or perhaps something more One night when in a local strip bar, Jaret bumps into Lin again and when he discovers her situation, he is determined to help. Lin owes money, a debt that has her living in an abusive situation with the threat of violence to not only her but her family never far from the surface. Can Jaret help? Well he is damn well going to try! Letting Lin go, is not an option for Jaret, she is the one person that he has loved in his life and he would die to protect her if he felt it necessary. The story is full of angst and drama but there was something that niggled me.. it I felt like it was almost complete… I just would have liked a little more of Jaret, I think he has more in his locker that he has yet to divulge and because of that I felt like he was holding back on me. I didn’t doubt for one minute the connection between him and Lin and for that alone, this is a belter of a short, feisty read!
4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS “Take what you want. Claim it. Own it. Never let go.” Jaret had it all but what he had he didn’t want. People only wanted to know him for one of two reasons; because they thought he had money or because of his ‘BIG’ cock that he loves to put to use. Jaret didn’t want a relationship, he was fine to use them and walk away, and that is until he saw a blast from his past, Lin. Lin was from a time in Jaret’s childhood; they came from different places but understood each other without explanation. Lin is what he believes his life has been missing. After Lin re-enters Jaret’s life it gets even crazier than before. This is a story of someone that is lost and believes to be unworthy, discovering that if you fight for what you want and never let it go; you just might get what you have been searching for without even knowing it. Jaret has been leading a filthy life, but it is what makes him the person he is and he doesn’t claim to be anything else. When Lin and Jaret see each other for the first time in the club, it is magical (I guess as magical as you can be in a strip club). They are drawn to each other and can’t deny the chemistry that is evident when they connect. It is a no holds bar reunion that leads to much more danger for them both. This novella is a great addition to the Fierce collection. After meeting Jaret in the other books, it was great to learn more about him. He might have been a member of a gang, drug dealer, gambler and sex addict, but he still has great qualities that we get to see pieces of in this book. It was amazing to me how Clarissa was able to put so much into such a little package. I loved every minute of it and finished it in one sitting; I didn’t want to put it down.
This is pure, hot action, from the very first chapter to the stunning conclusion. Jaret Paxon, who you'd remember from the series as Hunter's close friend, gang member & drug dealer, has found other ways to mess up his life. The fact is, he just don't care about anything or anyone. That is until he accidentally finds "her" at a strip club's masquerade night. And he is shocked to see that she works there! She recognized him too and runs away from him. He isn't gona let her get away again but when he finds out what is really going on and what he needs to do, he knows without a doubt that he would do anything, pay any price....he will never let her go again.....even if it kills him. The scene in the bath tub is so erotic and hot, that I had no doubt that Lin was going to be his redemption. And the trips back through their past when they were growing up and falling in love despite the different stations they came from was both sweet and sad. These scenes go a long way in the development of their characters. I went from seeing Jaret as a cad, to understanding how his life spiralled until he just didn't feel or care about anything. And Lin, well, she got her self into a deplorable situation by trying to make her parents proud. It surely back fired, leaving her with no hope and no help in site.....until Jaret finds her. Now the only question is, Are they going to survive long enough to have a life together? This is a stand alone read, but I am glad that I've been reading this series from the beginning and had previously met Jaret, plus it was awesome to see Hunter and Autumn ( leafy) again. I received this early copy in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book in exchange for a honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, dirty easy read. We follow Jaret, he lost his best friend, Lin. They used to play together as kids. Her parents were servants for his parents. Lin's parents wanted to send her to boarding school to get a good education. She wanted to make them proud so off she went leaving Jaret behind. Jaret was distraught by this, so he coped the only way he knew how. Drinking, sex with a different girl every night, showing off his luxurious car and house. Most of the girls are just after him for his money, they don't realise its all a front just to get what he wants. Jaret is nothing without Lin. Then on a night out looking for a girl for the night, he happens to bump into her. One kiss sets off all their feelings from years ago. Lin's in trouble and Jaret is more then happy to help her out. But someone isn't happy having Lin taken away from them. And they are out for blood.
I really liked this book. It was nice to see Jaret and Lin find their love again and fight for it. Jaret is a man that protects what is his and I loved that about him. Lin is a strong female character, she hasn't had a easy few years but is pushing through because she wants a better life and to make her parents proud of her. There are nice tender moments and dirty sexy moments. I thought it was a great balance. I want to read the other books in the series now. They don't have to be read in order, but I think we will get more information about Jaret and Lin's history that we may have missed in this book.
I do so love a filthy man and Clarissa Wild certainly gives us one with Jaret. This dirty talking man stole my heart from the beginning. He is all about the sex, but there is something deeper, something dark and painful that causes him to try to rid his past through endless and meaningless one night stands and quickies. Jaret will make you laugh, cry, blush and fall in love. Although this is a short read it lacks for nothing. Filthy has an emotional depths and well defined characters. When Jaret bumps into Lin, who is not only a girl from his past, but the love of his life. He vows to never let her go again. But Lin is living through a hellish existence of her own. Indebted to a brutish fighter who paid off her school loans. Jaret goes all alpha and protective when he finds out how Lin is living. I absolutely adore protective Jaret. The chemistry that he and Lin share is off the charts. There are flashbacks to the past throughout this book which really helps to round out Jaret's story. And if you have never read any of the other books in the series you can easily start with Filthy and not get lost. Clarissa Wild creates the most amazing stories and characters. Every emotion that they live through is palpable. These characters feel oh so real. This is a quick read that is easily addictive. I freaking loved this book. This is a story of two people who have lived through hell only to find each other. This is a story of true love and redemption. This story is amazing.
This book was filthy from the very beginning and continued the entire time. Although there was a romance brewing, I thoroughly enjoyed Jaret’s mouth and his story.
Jaret had a wonderful life growing up that most would dream of; wealthy parents, anything he wanted he got, except for the one thing that he couldn’t have, Lin. She was the daughter of employees of his family’s home. Jaret and Lin would sneak off to play together growing up. But his parents soon put an end to that. He always loved her. She was the one for him.
After Jaret leaves for college, life got tough for him. His parents cut off all his money, so he does what he has to. Joins a gang, does things that he should not but he has to live. Until one night, he runs into his past and awakens a dream that he thought was lost to him. Lin.
Lin has not had an easy life. With parents that were too proud to take money for their employer, her parents sacrificed for her to go to the best boarding schools. But she still ends up making bad decisions that result in her working as a stripper and having a boyfriend would treats her as a piece of property than a person.
Lin comes face to face with Jaret. She can not believe it so she runs. But your past always has a way of coming back to you. They happen to be at the same event again. Will Jaret get Lin this time? Will they both give into the desires that have been buried for years for each other? Can they finally be happy together?

So, I love reading Clarissa Wild's work. She keeps me on my toes and she keeps it fun. Sh just doesn't keep it fun, she keeps it H.O.T. HOT!!! This book is no different. This book is from Fierce series. This is a novella! This story is on Jeret Paxton. Hunter's playboy best friend. His motto is love'em and leave'em. No seconds, no other nights, just the one. That is until he sees her. She is his undoing. She is the one that got away, the one that he wants to spend several nights with, Hell, she is the one that he has loved, but she left.
Lin is a proud woman. She wants to make her parents proud. She left the love of her life many years ago to make her family proud of her. She didn't turn back. She lives a different life now, one that her parents would not approve of. She is working when she sees him. The one that she left, the one that has her heart. Will Jaret and Lin end up together or will they go their separate ways?
I absolutely love this series! I have read every single one of them and I can't get enough!! This book is no exception at all. There is hot sex, fighting, bad boys, protecting, pride and romance. You don't think that all those mix in a book, you say, how can they work and make a good story? Well, Clarissa knows what she is writing. She puts all of that in the book and she makes it worth reading. If you don't get this book then you will be missing out!!
Filthy is the third book in the Fierce series by Clarissa Wild. This is Jaret's story. We caught glimpses of him in the past books, and I;m glad he got his own book to tell his story. Jaret we met while he was in the gang with Hunter. He got out after his parents cut him off financially and the gang was brought down. Now he spends his day running through women and drinking.
One night he runs into Lin, the girl he grew up with and his first and only love. Lin when younger had moved away for boarding school and left Jaret behind. But Lin is in a predicament. She is under the control of a guy to whom she is indebted to because she was too proud to ask for help from her parents for her education. Now that Jaret has found Lin again, he doesn't want to let her go, but neither does the guy she is indebted too. So Jaret decides to help her get out of the debt she owes.
This is a very fast moving novella, because from the moment Lin and Jaret find each other again, they are involved with each other. But i am happy for Jaret getting his girl and HEA. I wonder what Clarissa has in mind next maybe a story for Hunters brother? But a great read and easy to finish in one sitting. I give this 4 1/2 Stars because even though it was a novella, Lin and Jaret getting back together so fast left my head spinning a little. But still a great read nonetheless and would recommend it to those who love the Fierce series.
YAY Jaret the FILTHY manwhore gets to tell his story !!!!
Honestly I could read on and on about Jaret and Lin , damn they are electric and I love their story and wish it could continue on and on with lots of filthy hot sex !!!! Clarissa Wild knows how to write great sex !!
Jaret seems to have it all... Money , girls , a house , connections a BIG COCK !! But this really isn't his life anymore. He was brought up in a wealthy family and he enjoyed spending time with his BFF Lin , her parents worked for Jaret's family. They fell in love and life was great until she had to go away to boarding school. Jaret's life took a turn at some point and he started following the gangs and selling drugs. Sex has been his way to try and forget his one true love and any of the goodness he once had. The glimpses of him we got in the other books weren't horrible but he was the typical playboy , manwhore....you knew you should stay away but he had that draw. One night out in a club he goes looking to find something to make him forget but what he finds is the one he has never been able to forget. This quick journey brings Lin and Jaret back together , we find what they are doing now and a bit about their pasts together and while apart. Jaret may be FILTHY but Lin loves it and together they are just an awesome mess of hotness !! Great little story and I am thrilled to get more of Jaret and see him differently.
I went from seeing Jaret as a cad, to understanding how his life spiraled out of control until he just didn't feel or care about anything. And Lin, well, she got her self into a deplorable situation by trying to make her parents proud. It surely back fired, leaving her with no hope and no help in site.....until Jaret finds her. Now the only question is, Are they going to survive long enough to have a life together?
I read this book as part of a boxed set. I have read and reviewed all of the Fierce series thus far and love every single one of them.
Finally Jared gets his story.. Jared is a friend of Hunter and Autumn. He comes from a very wealthy family so money has never been a problem but the one thing he always wanted he could never have. Lin . The girl who grew up in his home because her parents worked for Jared’s family. They were always playing together and were great friends although love began for them to. Lin had to go away to boarding school. Jared never understood why her family would not allow his family to help them but Pride stood in their way thus causing Lin to have to leave. Jared went through the phases but not once did he give his heart to anyone sex was just that. He never cared about pleasuring the woman only his own pleasure. One night while out he ends up in a strip club and who does he run into? Lin. Things spiral from that moment and Jared is determined to never lose Lin again but many things stand in his way. Can he take back the one who has always had his heart? I loved this story !!
Ever since we met Hunter’s mysterious roommate, Jaret, in Fierce I was intrigued. I’m so glad we got to hear Jaret’s voice in Filthy. I really enjoyed the direction Clarissa went with Jaret’s story. It was obvious from the rest of the Fierce series, that Jaret had a past that stayed with him and the history that unraveled over the course of this novella, fit perfectly with his personality and behavior throughout the series. I’ve been waiting for Jaret’s character to grow a little, to mature and evolve into someone I could connect with emotionally. We didn’t see enough of him before to really get a sense of who he is, I enjoyed finally filling in the pieces of him while I read Filthy.
Lin is definitely the ideal counterpart for Jaret. I loved that they had a history and that their reunion was completely unexpected and took them both by surprise. I fell a little bit harder for Jaret as I watched him make Lin’s happiness his mission. Lin and Jaret were put on a surprising path that had me completely enthralled. Their story was a fabulous combination of sweet, emotional, hot and suspenseful. It’s sometimes difficult to really get a satisfying and exciting journey out of a novella, while still delving deeply into the emotions of the characters. Filthy did not disappoint. Jaret’s story was unexpected and had me falling for him just a little bit more.
Copy provided by the author in return for an honest review and I give this book 3.5 stars
This is a Novella which is said to be able to be read as a stand alone. I think without prior knowledge of the character from the other Fierce books a reader would find this book too brief, as its over quite quickly.
So what do I think of this book, The writing style is gritty, fast and there is a lot of swearing and sex in the storyline. Jaret, the Main character is not boyfriend material, He's a Player, loves em and leaves em without a backwards glance. that is until he sees someone from his past...
Lin is a girl who crept into his guarded heart as a young boy, I did enjoy getting into Jaret's head and meeting Lin who was his first love. This story is about how they re-connect and how Jaret finally has something worth fighting for.
As an addition to the Fierce series its a book I am glad I have read, but for me personally it was over too quickly. The actual story ends at 80% the rest being information on the Author and the other book titles are available. Plus an excerpt of Book 1 Fierce, (Chapter 12) and again at 94% the book links for other titles start again, but maybe due to this being an ARC it was just an editing error.
If you like gritty books with a MMA Fighting background then you will enjoy this series.
Filthy by Clarissa Wild 2 out of 5 stars I have truly loved the other books in this series and it pains me to give this one a two star rating, but it felt like raunchy sex for raunchy sex's sake. Jarrett has always been a fairly good guy when it comes to Hunter and Jesse, even though he had his man-whore ways. However he becomes a total douche in this novella, completely self centered and lacking any real depth. When he meets back up with a childhood friend, Lin, it becomes obvious that their youthful feelings haven't waned. When Lin comes face to face with Jarrett she is both titilated and fearful. Having made less of her life than she'd committed to, Lin wants everything they could have been and Jarrett is more than happy to conquer her fears in order to have her.
I have to say this is probably one of the most rushed novellas I've ever read. It has very little plot or character development but makes sure to live up to its name in the sex scenes. Which for me personally is not a compliment.
This is totally my opinion and I look forward to Jesse's story but I would have rather left this particular bit out. With no forward movement in the original storyline, I think it's a stronger series with Jarrett left as a side character. *A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review* Pippa, My Secret Book Spot
Jaret Paxon is a self entered, rich playboy who enjoys a different woman every night. "Fuck them and chuck them" appears to be his motto, but what he appears to be on the outside is all lies to how broken he really is inside. Using sex as a coping skill, Jaret bandaids the pain and is a douche to anyone who wants more, especially the gold diggers. While out one night in an attempt to do his norm, Jaret's past shows up right in front of his face.
This book was an good quick read. I got through the book really fast but I wasn't drawn into it at all, it was just missing something. The author does a great job at given you the facts, but I'm a girl who loves the hidden details and the story behind the story. For me this book sorta left out all the flowery details, I wanted to get engrossed in the book and feel the characters emotions. I kinda felt like a straight "fuck" which is what Jaret is known for. At some points I felt disconnected from the characters and though this is fiction, I was struggling to connect. Personally, I feel that with more depth this will be an awesome book (that is my personal opinion). Don't get me wrong, the writing was VERY good, but I just couldn't connect with the book very much.
Overall I rate this book 2 1/2 stars! Thank you for the opportunity to read this!
This is book 3 in the Fierce Series. Can be read as a stand alone I gave this book 5 stars.
This is Jaret and Lin's book. It is a quick read it took me a little over 45 minutes to finish it. There's not cliffhanger.
I loved learning more about Jaret and the way he ticks. This playboy is not what he seems and it was so good to get a look inside and see how he really is. I connected with him instantly and fell in love. I had a harder time finding that with Lin. But it was still a great read and I look forward to reading more from Clarissa in the future.
This book was steamy and full of FILTHY !! The name fits it perfectly. Jaret seems like he has it all. He acts like he has everything that he wants, but once you get a glimpse on the inside you see that it is all a show and Jaret just wants what everyone else wants out of life the one that got away. Love. Compassion. A life time of a woman that he never got over. Follow his story and see why everyone has fallen in love with Jaret.
In this book, we get to know Jaret's story. When I read the other books, he always made me want to know more about him because of his actions. Now we know where he comes from, how he was raised and why he acts the way he does.
Jaret comes from a rich family and when he was younger he was separated from the girl he was in love with. After his parents found that he was involved with a gang, they cut him off. He has a lot of one night stands, receiving pleasure but not giving, but he wants to find the one that wants him for him and not for his money (although now he doesn't have any).
Lin is Jaret's childhood friend and the girl he was in love with. Her parents made her go to a boarding school when they were teens and they never saw each other again. She's in a difficult situation because she wants to make her parents proud but she is too proud to ask for help.
I loved Jaret and Lin's story. Loved how Jaret and Lin found each other again and decided to fight for their love. This story has action and spicy moments but is also very sweet.
