There is nothing quite like the love you have for your children. You would follow them to the ends of the Earth if they needed you. Evidently, you would also follow them back in time. Back hundreds of years, to a place where my husband ruled a very different kingdom. One where kidnapping and keeping me as his captive went hand in hand with making me his wife. But the problem with skipping timelines had always been the same… Escaping Draven. Because for him, it was finally… The Time of Kings.
The Time of Kings begins a brand-new, standalone duet set 30 years after the epic conclusion of the Afterlife Saga. While longtime fans will recognise familiar faces, this is best read after Transfusion Saga. The two-book story offers a fresh, gripping adventure that can be enjoyed on its own. Step back in time, where fate is rewritten, kingdoms rise, and love refuses to be forgotten. Enjoy more to Draven and Keira's story.
Stephanie Hudson is a #1 Amazon bestselling Author. She had dreamed of being a writer ever since her obsession with reading books at an early age. What first became a quest to overcome the boundaries set against her in the form of dyslexia, has turned into a life's dream.
Afterlife is the first book in the series of 12 books, with the story of Keira and Draven becoming ever more complicated in a world that sets them miles apart. The Transfusion Saga will also be a 12 book series once book 12 is released in May 2021. Other spin -off books and series are also available with lots more planned.
When not writing, Stephanie enjoys chatting with her fans and spending time with her friends. Being with her loving family as much as she can including her wonderful daughter Ava, sons Jack and Halen and supportive husband and personal muse Blake, who is there for her no matter what.
I really loved being back with Driven and Kiera. This is after transfusion and about 30 years post afterlife so a lot has happened prior to this book. Definitely make sure you read the prior books before reading this one. I wasn't too sure about the chapters from Draven as it kind of felt like a repeat of Keira's chapters if I am honest.
Overall I did enjoy this story and I am looking forward to the next installment to see what happens next!
There is so much to dislike, I hardly know where to begin. The first thing that irritated me was the obvious siphoning of other books in the series. I was so disgusted that not only am I no longer following the author, whose work I have cursorily enjoyed despite her banal handling and often incorrect use of the English language. I can't overlook the substitution of adjective for adverbs. That's my general rundown of the author's pathetic writing style.
Having said that, I have a great enjoyment of paranormal novels. I will forgive much in a so-so writing style in exchange for dragons, etc. What I cannot forgive is an obvious and pathetic attempt to reach a word count, is the duplication of three chapters, first from the heroine's point of view, and then obstinately from the hero's. That might work except for the blatant omission of new material, such as the hero's actual and differing point of view. There are too many books on my To Be Read List to put up with such nonsense.
The worst offense by far is that having wasted a reader's time and money with an ill-written book, it ends on a cliff-hanger.
I have read previous volumes in this series and they made sense. What doesn't make sense is that the time-traveling heroine, gaining and losing immortality along the way, falls in love over and over again with the hero in various of his very different lifetimes. Unapologetic spoiler alert. The original volumes in the series take place in present time wherein the hero finally finds his promised Chosen One, his fated love for all of time. My sympathies to him, he waited millennia. Except for the fact that the heroine, after having found true love (defined solely by the quality of their sex life), takes to time traveling and cuckolding her present-day husband with earlier versions of him. The lack of credulity is that I feel is immense. Here's the situation: in each of these time-travels by the heroine, the hero experiences the relief of finally finding his promise one, only to have her leave him to find her way back to her original timeline. Yet the original timeline hero and the heroes in between never remember the joy of finding their Chosen One after millennia without her and the grief they experience when the heroine leaves them.
All of these issues needed to have been resolved in the first books in this series. Or instead of trying to milk money from hapless readers, perhaps that author might have considered starting a new series.
I constantly reread the Transfusion series, so I was eager to read this to find out what had happened between Keira and Draven when they went back in time. I didn’t care for the first chapters in Draven’s POV, but only because I was worried we would have to relive the same conversation over and over again. I thought that if the entire book was the same interactions twice, then it would take forever for the story to move along. Luckily that wasn’t the case.
SPOILER: After knowing the events of the Hellbeast series, I was confused that Draven didn’t realize Keira would have been pulled into 1769 when he swapped her out for Ella. It shouldn’t have been a shock that she would turn up at Whitley Court, but I guess we will find out more in the next book. I can’t wait.
It's been a while since I read the full length version of this, with the whole cast of characters. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the glimpse back, it's only reignited my desire to re-read the Afterlife saga from the very beginning as I really missed the intricacies of the unfolding plot. Still, I find even that glimpse back into Stephanie Hudson's landscape more fulfilling than many other authors' full length novels.
To anyone unfamiliar with Afterlife; get yourself to wherever you buy your books & grab your first volume of the saga*today*! If you want beautifully involved, nuanced, funny, sexy books peopled by unforgettable characters, then I really can't recommend Stephanie Hudson's work highly enough. There are a lot of people writing in the same genre but none as successfully or with such style.
I have devoured everything written by Stephanie Hudson since I came across her "Afterlife" series a decade or more ago. This book, The Time of Kings, gives you a perspective of what was going on parallel to what Amelia, Ella and Marcus were experiencing in 1799. It's written principally from Dominic's and Keira's points of view with some surprising twists. Looking forward to The Time of Queens and the continuation of this remarkable story.
This book left me wondering what the heck was going on. It’s totally confusing and has no story line at all. It jumps from one story to another and left me wondering if I missed something. Once again this author has published half a book (if that) most of the book is filled with sex scenes which I think is just to fill the pages. It’s my own fault for purchasing this book thinking things might have been improved nevertheless I was severely disappointed yet again.
Another book to fall in love with. Dominic isn’t far my favorite character in the series. Kiera is nobody’s fool. She stands her ground against him. I’m anxiously awaiting for the next book. Stephanie Hudson this is another fantastic story about my favorite king! Kudos to you.
It was beautiful and full of passion and angst. As with many of Stephanie's books, I am lost and wondering what is happening or.going to happen and am left dangling over a precipice. I am now diving into the queens book but have a sinking feeling I will not find resolution.
I told myself that I wouldn’t start another set until I finished Hell Beast but I couldn’t resist Draven and Keira and this did not disappoint at all. I’m not going to give away the book at all but if you’re a follower of Stephanie’s then you will not be able to put it down. Can wait for book 2
As always, Stephanie Hudson has done it again! I absolutely love her Afterlife series and I couldn’t put this one down either! She makes it seem like you are in her stories and I get so involved that I can’t stop reading until the end. And even when it ends, I want more!!
So nice to go back to the beginning where it all began. This story of keira and Dominic brought back all the feels and great memories of when I first read afterlife, many years ago. It was great to have them on the pages again seeing their love no matter what time they are in. Truly a great read as always from Stephanie Hudson.
OMG! Yay! More Draven! More action love it. Thanks for the world of wonder, fun, adventure and Pip "where we are going there won't be roads"🤣Stephanie you rock!!🎆
I love these two characters so much. I have read their story so many times, and now I get to add this to their collection. Thank you, Stephanie Hudson. I can't wait to read The Time Of Queens.
Another Amazing read from Stephanie!!! I loved going back and reading about Keira and Dominic and their love for each other and of course the playful banter they share 💜😈 Thank you Stephanie Hudson it was totally worth the wait!!!
This book is like a return to home for me. In Afterlife world Keira and Draven are my favorite cuple. This story is so sweet, their love will cros the time and she will find him nomather the century or era. I love this book!
I'm addicted to Draven. He is my all-time favorite book bf. No other character tops him. Any book he is apart of automatically is a favorite of mine. Helps that this series is so outstanding.
I can never get enough of Dominic Draven and Kiera (Catherine). Kiera and her crazy friemd, Pip, Sophia and her daughter Amelia are on another adventure! I can't wait to start book two! This is a must read.
Another brilliant is from start to finish, I loved every word. It was great to get back to Kiara and Draven. Thank you for your words and I can't wait for the new book.
Stephanie has done it again! I have loved this additional story with Keira and Draven and can't wait to jump head first into the second part of this! A reread of the series may be in order after rediscovering my love for this couple! <3
I love all Stephanie's book and this didn't disappoint at all. Loved catching up with Draven and Keira after being together 30 years plus what happened in there past lives. Can't now wait until the next instalment is out. Brilliant as always.
