After eighteen-year-old Carrie Jacobson discovers she was a witch in a previous life, she seeks to reawaken that part of her soul. With the help of an eccentric enchantress and a boy who is more than he seems, Carrie succeeds and is spellbound by the memories of her life in Europe during the 1600s as a powerful witch named Isadora. Carrie reverts to her bewitching, more volatile form and sets out to break a curse she cast long ago on her coven.

Carrie’s boyfriend Tree cannot help feeling uneasy about the changes he sees in the woman he loves. When Carrie’s past clashes with the present and dark magic intoxicates her once again, Tree must take drastic matters into his own hands and attempt to save Carrie from herself.

With Tree’s help, will Carrie be able to resist the allure of her new powers? Or will she plunge into the deep end and give into them?

Tangled Roots

This book is the best yet. It is a stand alone but a companion to the Beyond the Eyes Trilogy , it carries the story further with familiar characters, Tree and Carrie . They were in the first 3 books, but now they have a mission that fate has them being the only ones that are able to carry out . Think if you were used to strange happening and the possibility of a different realms out there and that the world has mysteries and evil that most of us know nothing about . How would you handle it if you had to intervene , to save yourself and others In this book Carrie is trying to unite with the past and a witch that is really trying to cause havoc. Carrie is a witch in her own right. Not to give the whole book away but Tree who loves Carrie must watch as she is taken over. Carrie is doing what she must. All this makes for a wild ride. Can Carrie prevail and can Tree save Carrie ???? I loved this book and the author is great in her story telling

So, it says at the beginning of the book that this is a companion book to the Beyond the Eyes trilogy… but that it can be read as a standalone. It CAN be read as a standalone… and I DID read it without having read the trilogy… but I would NOT recommend doing that. There were characters referred to that were obviously important to the trilogy… and they were mentioned repeatedly… but they were traveling and not in this novel. There were also characters in this novel that had past experiences somewhat briefly mentioned with minimal explanation… but they played important parts in this novel. So while I was able to figure it all out… it would have been MUCH more enjoyable had I read the trilogy.

All of that said… I can say I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. Not everyone writes a story from multiple character perspectives well… but I felt like Rebekkah Ford did an exceptional job. Each chapter would start with the character’s name (mainly Carrie and Tree/Jack) and lead flow through the story that way. As I said… I didn’t read the trilogy… but if the author’s writing is consistently done in the style and quality used in Tangled Roots… I would feel comfortable recommending the trilogy followed by this companion book.

(Oh… and I LOVED Rex. I wish there had been more Rex.)

Even though this is a companion novel to her Beyond The Eyes series, Rebekkah Ford wrote this in a way that it can be a stand-alone novel. Having not read the series, it is now on my TBR list, I still understood the plot and followed the characters.

Tree and Carrie are great leading characters and really come across as strong. As they battle to save Carrie's life from a dark witch, who is Carrie in a previous life, they learn that in darkness there is a little light. Even evil has some good in it.

Over all it's a great read and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes paranormal.

this is supposed to be a stand alone, however, i think it made it easier to understand by reading the first three in the series. This is from carrie's perspective and it brings a new understanding to the entire series. Carrie was just you average girl with no special powers, unlike her bestie and BF. That is until she got in a horrible car accident. While in a coma she learns that she too, is a witch. I enjoyed reading this book and i cannot wait to read more from this author!

Tangled Roots is another great book by Rebekka Ford. Rebekkah has
a way of sucking you in. Her characters are strong and you feel like your
own friends. Tangled Roots is a standalone book. However, those that read Beyond The Eyes Trilogy have a better understanding of the characters and the world they live in. This is such a great book with witches, magic and so much more!

This is a companion book to the Beyond The Eyes trilogy. While it isn't necessary to read them first I find it will give a more clear explanation to everything that has happened to Carrie and Tree up to this point.

Carrie Jacobson is a witch while her boyfriend Tree is becoming a light walker. As Carrie seeks guidance from Abigail Lockwood, a once practicing witch. There Carrie must come to terms with who is inside of her and whether the strength she has inside of her is enough to save her and Tree.

This is a great companion book and I loved getting to know Tree and Carrie more.

It's interesting to see what happens with Carrie and with who ends up inside of her and how the battle for control of herself comes out. I was surprised with the Jaeger twist as I never saw that coming.

I love the relationship between Tree and Carrie and I hope we can see more of them in the future!

Very entertaining

Rebels Ford has written a very good sidebook to the original story. Tree and Carrie have come a long way, but her soul longs for a magical tie. Tree is on the path to be a great light walker. But Carrie has Isadore inside, who was a powerful witch in the 1600s. Now they must chart unfamiliar territory without Paige and Nathan, to handle the situation.

It's a very good story. Read on my friends.

Good story

This companion novel gets deeper into the spiritual mechanics of things. Ms. Ford's ideas are interesting and not too far from my own so I did enjoy it though others may not be so accepting. Good job!

Poor Carrie it seems like everyone is trying to possess her. But Tree and her friends are always there to help her. I love the bond between Carrie and Tree. Love conquers all!

This is my honest review. If you are into paranormal stories this book and the series is a must read!

Treachery Past And Present

This series must be read in order. The first book is Beyond the Eyes. The second book is Dark Spirits (Beyond the Eyes Book 2). The third book is The Devil's Third (Beyond the Eyes Book 3). This is the fourth book.

Carrie is full of self doubt. She feels useless and a burden to her friends and Tree. How can she possibly be a part of The Devil's Third when she is nothing special? This causes her to jump at the chance to embrace and reintegrate the spirit of Isadora that has been segregated and locked away from her. To be able to learn from her powerful witch self that was one of her past lives feels like an incredible boon.... But is it? Will Carrie be overpowered and overshadowed by her past self who was confident and outgoing(not to mention domineering)? Will she finally learn magic and be able to contribute as something other than a distraction in the fight against the dark spirits? Will she even be Carrie anymore?

Tree adores Carrie. She is his world and the love of his life. He for some reason does not trust the unlocking spell for Isadora's spirit. He likes Grams and even trusts her but deep down inside he feels like something is about to go tragically and horribly wrong. Maybe it is the fact he almost lost her... Or maybe it is that he doesn't trust the whole magick thing. But it doesn't really matter as there is no stopping Carrie when she put her mind to something. Will he be able to keep Carrie safe? Or will he lose her forever?

This was an awesome book! And I don't care what anyone says ... This is definitely a book in the series and a very important one! So much is explained and so much happens that if you skip this book you will definitely be sorry! Also ALWAYS read this series in publication order to avoid spoilers! The mysteries and paranormal goodness are definitely ramped up more with each book and the romance manages to see the characters do what they need to do to survive. I think the suspense and thrills almost did me in but I loved it! I can't wait for the next book!

***This series is suitable for adult readers

Disclaimer: I created the book cover for this book and received a free copy of the book as part of my payment. Also, paranormal romance isn't my preferred genre, and therefore, my opinions may be skewed compared to that of someone who regularly enjoys paranormal romance.

I have read the three Beyond the Eyes books, so I'm familiar with the world of Tangled Roots. My favorite character was Isadora. I liked that she wasn't really a bad guy. I mean, she wasn't exactly a do-gooder, but she wasn't evil, either. On that note though... the ending for her! Aghh! I want to know what happens to her, and if she ever gets her happy ending, and what Ayperos has planned, and the conclusion to a few other minor sub-plots...

*Clears throat.* Ahem.

I will say that the story did start out a bit slow for me, but really picked up once we got to Isadora's character. What can I say? She stole the show, and I like character power struggles. I also liked that Ayperos would once in a while say something that was helpful, despite being a dark spirit, though there were a few times throughout the story where information was revealed that I felt like could have been better connected. There were a few sexy scenes, which admittedly weren't my favorite (keep in mind that romance is not my preferred genre), but if you are hoping to see some action between Tree and Carrie, it's there. In regards to Carrie and Tree (non-romantic) I didn't feel like they did a whole lot to help their situation, and I would have liked to have seen them able to step in and do more. I mean, they did, but in a round-about way. On the plus side, we got to see more about the light walkers and how the witches' magic system worked, and Isadora's character was quite fun to read...

Anyway, fans of the Beyond the Eyes series will enjoy this companion novel. We get to see familiar faces (Tree and Carrie) as well as meet new ones (Rex and Isadora), in the continued tradition of the previous books. It does stand-alone, however, so if you haven't read the trilogy, you can still start here pretty easily without a whole lot of spoilers.

Rebekkah Ford grew up with the paranormal in her own tangled roots and it shows in the way she creates the psychological motivations within her characters. She has mysteries in her head and it shows vividly, dramatically, on the page.

In this, a stand-alone adjunct to the Beyond the Eyes trilogy, Carrie Jacobson's soul stirs as mystical powers arise in her with supernatural force. She is 18 and has confusing, jigsaw-puzzle flashbacks to Europe in the 1600s when she was a witch named Isadora.

Long ago, she cast a spell she now understands must be broken. As her old powers mature and Carrie set out to reconnect the past with the future, her boyfriend, Tree, at first shocked, even afraid, of the changes he sees in Carrie, realises he is the only way who can save her from herself.

Rebekkah Ford weaves delicious erotic imagery through her universe of ghosts, magic and the supernatural. Read one of her books and you will be an instant fan.

While Carrie was in a coma, she learns that she was a witch in a previous life and wants to re awaken that part of her so she can be more of an asset to her friends. When another witch and ghost are able to help her out by placing Isadora's spirit back in her, things go wrong. Isadora want's to break the curse put on her coven but will Carrie want this too? Carrie learns more about her past life as Isadora and feels sympathy towards her. Can the two find balance while being in Carrie's body or will Isadora try and take control fully and snuff all of Carrie out of existence? Will Carrie's best friend Tree be able to help her along the way as well? Loved this story and thought it was really cool that it was based in Oregon since that is where I am from!

I haven't read the other books in this series. It is supposed to be a stand alone story, but at times, I really felt that I needed to have read those other stories. The plot was thick and interesting, though at times the story dragged on for me. I wanted to get to the action and would find myself skipping some parts. In all, it's quite the interesting paranormal/magic read. The romance is sweet and the characters are well written. You really get a chance to delve into this story, this other world. If you're a fan of magic and romance, you should read this series, though I suggest you start with book 1 so you're not lost like me.

This book is a part of the Beyond the Eyes series, but can be read as a standalone and I loved reading this! This is a story where the main character has to be saved from herself, literally. Past and present collide and it is unclear whether darkness will win in this internal battle. I don't come across stories like this often and I'm definitely glad that I did with this one! This is a well written and complex story that will leave you wanting more! I highly recommend this to anyone and I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great addition to the "Beyond the Eyes" series. This book sort of ties some lose ends together. The book was great, i loved the story but, the editing was terrible. There was a lot of places where the story repeated itself. It was very aggravating. that is why i gave only 4 stars.

I adore this author and her writing style. Sure hope to see more of her books soon. Highly recommend readers to give her a try. Start with Book 1 of the "Beyond the Eyes" series...you'll be hooked

I loved this book and I have found a new series to get on board with. Tree and Carrie are on a path to keep dark spirits from taking over the good in the world. Carrie hasn't found her part of the group, until she learns that she was once a witch and needs to reunite with her past spirit. Will it be as easy as she thinks or will the dark magic taint her soul... Read and find out.

This was an amazing read that I finished reading in one sitting. It moved along at a fantastic pace, has characters that you will fall in love with and a story that will grab you and not let you go until you are finished the very last page. This has got to be read, there is no doubt about it.
