Honnêtement, c'est un excellent livre pour en apprendre davantage sur l'histoire des maladies infectieuses. Dans ce livre, R. Piarroux raconte l'histoire des peuples autochtones et leur rencontre avec les bactéries/virus via les Européens. Ou comment les Européens ont fait face aux épidémies. La naissance de la santé publique et de la révolution microbiologique sont également abordées. Nous parlons toujours d'histoire avec la guerre, la colonisation, la conquête. Mais au 21e siècle, c'est un bon rappel que les humains cohabitent avec les microbes, la faune et la flore. Ce qui s’inscrit dans le concept de « One Earth,One Health ».

Piarroux tells the story of aboriginal peoples and how they encounter bacterias/virus with European people. Or how european people faced epidemics. The birth of public health and microbiologic revolution are also approached. We always talk about history with the war, colonisation, conquest. But in 21th century, it’s a good reminder that humans cohabit with microbes, fauna and flora.
