2 stars strictly for editing.

2 stars strictly for editing. Up to Book 4 in the Alison Payne series I enjoyed the books immensely. The action was fast and furious, the characters were interesting and smart and the tension between the two main characters ran like a smooth river carrying the story to its climax.
This novel unfortunately was filled with line editing and proofing errors. I did just try and skip over them and enjoy the story but by the middle it was almost every page.
I’m letting their story rest fir awhile before I purchase the rest of the series. I personally can’t- not edit and it ruins a good book for me.

Say Goodbye - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Prison profiler Dr. Alison Payne is still haunted by the long-ago murder of her sister Emma, which was never solved, in Blake Pierce's Say Goodbye.
But her investigation is diverted by work pressure. After that, people start dying, but who's the killer and is history repeating itself?

Say Goodbye builds in intensity, until you begin to doubt your own decisions as to whodunit. Great characters, lots of twists and turns and a dynamite finale that will take your breath away...what more could you ask for?
Don't wait - get it now!

In Say Goodbye, Alison will interview and recommend that Gabriel (a white collar criminal) be released on parole although the families involved and the detective (now lieutenant) who investigated the case are against it. Soon after he leaves prison those who were against his release are found dead. Alison and Derek will be searching all possibilities, including the one that involves the lieutenant as the killer, and will reach a surprising conclusion that will almost cost their lives. Good story, however, the book needs better proofreading.

The story is great if you can ignore the editing failures. The main character is likable, and the plot is compelling. However, proofreading is definitely lacking. The errors throughout the book include confusing character names by exchanging them for a paragraph or two, mixing names by giving one's surname to another's given name, or just spelling a name differently at different points. Mixing pronouns is another constant, as well as misspellings that end up being actual words, so that spellchecker doesn’t pick up on them. All that being said, I still enjoyed the story, but I definitely recommend the audio version because less of the oversight is noticeable when you can't see the text.

editing bad

Story is good but no effort into the many grammatical errors….probably uses auto but when you spend money on a book it matters

needs a proofreader

This series is ok. But there are so many mistakes on every single page. Mixing up characters, misspellings, words that don’t make sense, etc.
