Dr. Ashley Proctor is Oakridge Hospital’s youngest cardiothoracic department head—brilliant, disciplined, and impossible to rattle. But when Dr. Jennifer Colton, a bold and charismatic transplant surgeon, arrives to revamp the hospital’s organ donation program, Ashley’s carefully controlled world is thrown into disarray.
Jen’s charm and unorthodox methods make her an instant favorite, fueling Ashley’s resentment. Their professional rivalry escalates when a high-profile patient—a beloved actress in need of a heart transplant—forces them to work together.
As tensions rise, so does an undeniable attraction. A late-night argument turns unexpectedly personal, and Ashley finds herself drawn to Jen in a way she can’t ignore.
For fans of spicy sapphic medical romance, fiery rivalries, and women who are just as skilled with their hearts as they are with their hands. If you love Grey's Anatomy and The L Word, you'll love this!
Healing Her was a short, happy-ending type of book. I would say it was pretty average. I didn’t love the first half of it but the second half did make up for it.
Ashley was my least favorite character. For a 40-some year old woman she was very childish and not in-tune with her emotions at all. I hated how she treated Jen and I still think Jen deserved better.
I also want to point out the cover does not depict the characters correctly, not that that is something super important, but I would’ve liked to see an accurate representation of the two of them.
Some parts of the book made me cringe, but overall it was a decent read.
I just finished reading it, and I have to say—I absolutely loved it! The story pulled me in right away. The writing itself was impressive, drawing me in from the very beginning. I definitely plan to read more books by this author in the future! It was such an enjoyable and satisfying read!
Healing Her by Grace Parkes 🩺 Rival surgeons forced to collaborate 🤍 Ice Queen / Sweetheart — with claws 🔥 Steamy workplace drama 🤍 Sapphic medical
This had me hooked—two badass doctors who can’t stand each other. Ashley’s a full-on ice queen with a god complex (seriously hard to like at first), and Jen’s the calm, wear-your-heart-on-her-scrubs type who immediately gets under her skin. Forced to work together, and yeah—the tension starts tensioning. 😮💨
I loved that the story actually dove into transplant and organ donation—it was detailed but totally readable. It made the romance feel more grounded and a little different from the usual hospital fluff.
Medical romances are like catnip for me, and I’m happy to report this one delivered. It’s short (151 pages) but brings the feelings, a bit of drama, fun banter, and spicy.
Short, to the point and fun, though the behaviour of Ashley was hard to stomach, but we got there. Probably slightly too easy to be 5*s, but as first in a series I’ll give GP the benefit of doubt.
when stubborn doesn’t begin to describe the person you’ve fallen for..
Great characters. So you have a new colleague and from the start she gets on your last nerve. Change why would you need to change your surgical procedures when they’re tried and true.
How can someone be so stubborn not wanting to change or learn. What Jen faced with Ashley. But to complicate matters there was a sexual attraction between them. But there’s always a but Ashley was more than closed off had walls so high. She was fine seeing Jen outside the hospital but completely ignored her at work and didn’t want to be seen in public together. What are you to do.. move on seemed the only answer.
Saw this on Kindle Deals - thought "what's a medical romance?" because i'm iffy on romance books but love medical aspects in novels. I ended up really enjoying this novel! It was cute. The romance wasn't overly sexual and there were a lot of cute, warm moments. I loved the hospital setting and the realistic discussions that occurred with the triage team, nursing staff, patient treatment etc.
4/5 instead of 5/5 because the book was a little cheesy, I hate the "I don't trust anybody and never have... my walls are too high." followed by self-sabotage troupe.
This was just ok. I enjoyed the first half more when the 2 characters "hated" each other, only because they felt better written. The second half of the book felt very rushed and a bit insta-love, given the animosity between the couple earlier in the story. I think if the book was longer, so that the burgeoning attraction and feelings could be explored more realistically, it would have felt less cheesy.
Two very intelligent and accomplished surgeons can’t seem to work together amiably. But, sometimes attraction overrides existing feelings. I loved both main characters and their friends and mentors. This is a great book and I highly recommend it.
Simple tale, engaging. Like a fair number of lesbian books this one follows a well walked formula… enemies to lovers with the usual confusion for characters around ‘why am I attracted to this woman’.
I’m not one for spoilers so you won’t get them from me.
This was a fun, sweet easy read WLW romance, I really enjoyed the hospital setting for the book. I did find that the characters acted fairly immature for their ages but it didn’t ruin the story for me at all.
