After a botched raid in Baghdad leaves civilians dead, Army Ranger Sergeant Steve Wolf is branded a war criminal and left to rot in prison. But when he’s finally released four years later, the real battle begins.
Recruited by his former mentor, ex-Green Beret Jim McNamara, Wolf reluctantly joins the high-stakes world of bounty hunting. Their latest mission takes them deep into Mexico in pursuit of a dangerous fugitive—but they aren’t the only ones on his trail. Wolf’s former brothers-in-arms, the ruthless private military contractors known as the Vipers, have their own deadly agenda. Their target? A priceless stolen artifact tied to a powerful and merciless man who will stop at nothing to retrieve it.
With enemies closing in, the hunt leads to the abandoned Mayan ruins of El Meco, where Wolf must fight for his life against a small army of trained killers. Outgunned and outnumbered, his only option is to embrace the warrior within—because in the world of mercenaries and betrayals, survival is the only victory.

Ex-military Ranger Steve Wolf finds himself in the unenviable position of a recent incarceration with nothing to his name. Having barely made it out of prison he finds a friend from years ago (or should I say, an old friend don't him) who's willing to give him a hand up. This association is rife with pitfalls and deception and involves going into Mexico to bring back a bail skipper. That alone is enough to assure some problems that Wolf doesn't want or need. The thrills and twists abound.
This is a fast-paced novel with some pretty rough characters. When Steve Wolf, a former Army Ranger, crosses paths with a private military group in Baghdad and innocent civilians die, he goes to jail. When he gets out, an old friend asks him to try working with him as a bounty hunter. One case takes them to Mexico, where a lot of things feel very wrong to Steve; they are very wrong. The end will leave the reader reaching to order the next book in the series!
This is an extremely well written book. The author writes a compelling story that rings with truth. His action sequences are believable and not over the top. The characters are developed as the story unfolds and done so with a very readable style. I enjoyed this book and am off to start book II.
So this book was only okay. I’ve read many stories about ex operators turned bounty hunters and I cannot recall one being so unsure of himself such as Wolf. Not sure if I’ll read the next book in the series.
Good story if you could get past the poor editing including extra words and just poor language skills. Mexico is no place for American bounty hunters and this story definitely proves that.
