They're BACK! This summer, the original heroes in a half-shell make a triumphant return to comics! Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael reunite to bring their ninja aptitude and teenage attitude to IDW Publishing in this all-new, action-packed series. Featuring a cast of familiar characters-Master Splinter, April O'Neill, Casey Jones, and more-and true to the spirit of the original comics created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES are bigger and badder than ever, and ready to rock old and new fans alike!
i wonder why raphael wasn't around in the fight against old hob...? especially since he does seem righteous enough to come to the aid of helpless people. also curious about the different personalities all of them will have that have been alluded by april o'neil. regarding the lab -- also curious about the splitting of splinter's being into cognitive human-like behaviour and instinctual animal-like behaviour.
I've been meaning to get into this for a while, guess I was a little late to the game as they're currently on issue 103. I got a lot of reading to do, luckily IDW have have these deluxe hardcovers to make it easier. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The IDW Collection Vol. 1 Before buying it, thought I'd try a same and it gave me the whole first issue, yaay!
It's awesome, there was a ton of stuff in the first issue from a street brawl with other mutants. Raph getting angry and even a bit of there origin story, it's time to hunt down those hardcovers!
And so it begins. Dark clouds gather. The skies rumble threateningly. Followed by an unnatural calm. But then the calm vanishes...
I was sadly disappointed by this. I used to love the TMNT as a kid but this just missed the mark for me. The comic uses the currently popular flashbacks to give us a taste of the origin story for Master Splinter and his mutant Turtles whilst in present day they are in the midst of a violent battle with a deadly foe.
I probably haven't read a Turtles comic since the '80s. This is definitely different, but still enough of the same to stay true to the spirit of the characters. So far anyway. It doesn't seem as campy and kid oriented as the old stuff I'm used to. Interested to see where this goes.
This is a short, quick read that reintroduces the Turtles with a new story and background. As someone who has been watching them since I was a kid, I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I actually didn't mind. The art is well done. I would read more of this series.
Read to end 2023 with some nostalgia. This first issue is a reboot of the 80's Mirage comics. It has a few differences, but so far nothing that'll "destroy" your childhood. It's free on the IDW app and I would suggest any Turtle fan to check it out.
I’ve always loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I love the illustrations in this book and I love how April got the names she chose for the turtles! I liked the dialogue! It was funny at times too! I also LOVED how they had a like before and present kind of thing going on in this book!
A slow beginning that sets up the classic quartet of turtles and their supporting cast of Splinter, Casey, and April. Kevin Eastman's involved in the process, but it's noticeable that this run has a younger demographic in mind that prior runs.
This is the first TMNT I've read and I was happy with it. I'm a big fan of the cartoons, etc. so it was only a matter of time before I read the comics.
bof que buen primer tomo. ahora mismo dolido con no tener los demás tomos entre manos pero bueno, supongo que es lo que toca. la versión original y gore de las tortus va extremadamente dura.
Explore a whole new origin of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This story dates back to 2011, long before the Last Ronin was a concept on paper. We learn how the Turtles and Splinter go their names, who their enemy Old Hob is and a plan let in motion by Krang and Baxter Stockman.
I personally have never seen or read about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I've only heard about the story in the past, but I've never known it by myself.
Through this comic, I at least got to know a bit of the story. And in this comic, there is also an explanation about what their origins are like. I think the story is pretty good and I also know that TMNJ will mostly feature action elements.
I have never read a TMNT comic book but I watched the 90s cartoon. I was never a big fan of the franchise. This series started good, my only concern is that I always thought of it as kids stuff and this time we get a more adult take on the characters. I still am not a fan, but nonetheless it was a nice first issue.
I grew up watching the movies and the cartoons. Now that I'm slowly moving into the world of comics, I decided to finally read a TMNT one. I still don't know how to rate them though. I liked this one. That's about it. So 3 it is!
It was really cool to see how the characters came together, and the way they organized the story made it more like the opening of a movie. I definitely want to read this series all the way through.
