Oliver Jeffers' work takes many forms. His distinctive paintings have been exhibited in galleries worldwide, and HarperCollins UK and Penguin USA publish his award-winning picture books, now translated into over 30 languages.
In 2007, Jeffers was the official illustrator for World Book Day, and in 2008 Lost and Found became Oliver's first book to made into animation by London-based Studio AKA.
Jeffers won a NY Emmy in 2010 for his collaborative work with the artist and director Mac Premo, and in 2013 Jeffers co-directed the video for U2's Ordinary Love with Premo. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Jeffers now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Very nice set. We read these, then rented the movie Lost & Found via Apple TV. Both the film and the books are beautiful, and my son appreciated the continuity—"Hey! That's the same boy in all these books!"
The family I babysit had this box set and I was completely amazed by the quality at first glance, I love soft coushy hardcovers. And this was a soft, coushy, tiny hardcover. So I had a baby in my hands and I decided to read the books to him. (Ended up reading them for me... oops) The illustrations were cute and amazing, I love how they used the different colors and different tones. Such as when the boy was in the moon and everything was dark and he only had a flashlight, so the entire page was dark and you saw a bit of light through the flashlight of the illustration. I felt like I was flipping through art. And the best part of it is that the stories themselves were beautiful and cute and had some tiny little jokes here and there that a kid might not laugh, but I did. Made me laugh, made me say 'awww' out loud and the quality and feel of the book was great. If this is not a 5-star book, I don't know which one is.
It took me about 30 minutes to listen this. I'm not even sure why I wanted to listen this, but the story is cute and I loved the penguin. I also liked that there was background music and noices.
A must-have for any fans of childrens literature. I'd also highly recommend the film adaptation of "Lost & Found" (charmingly narrated by Jim Broadbent.)
Sin dudarlo, Oliver Jeffers es uno de mis escritores e ilustradores preferidos de la literatura infantil. Que dicha cualquiera de los tres cuentos que están en esta colección.
