No. When the hero has a close relationship with the WOMAN HE HAD CASUAL SEX WITH FOR 100 YEARS previously, it kinda spoils the romance this book is supposed to be about.

Read for the side characters and the continuing story line with the immortal guardians, not for Ethan and Heather. Zach, Seth, Cliff and Bastien stole this story and that is ok with me. Four stars for them!

Spoilers

Shadows Strike, the 6th book in the Immortal Guardians series, was a pretty good read. While I love Heather and enjoyed Ethan, the on-going plot was more interesting to me. A lot of things happen in this book and I really liked the action. Ethan and Heather were pretty basic as far as couples go. Nothing bad, but nothing really stood out for me. Aidan shined more in this book in my opinion than the hero.

I love that the others are slowly coming out of their self imposed exile. I really hope Jared gets his own book. I really loved Zach in this book. Zach, Seth and David are all so sexy, that I have hot flashes every time they have page time. OMG and Cliff, poor Cliff. My heart breaks for him. Dianne Duvall can't you save Cliff? Please find a cure or something. My heart will bleed when he is gone. Bastien is still yummy as ever. He is still my favorite hero, him and Zach. Overall a good read, but I can't wait for Seth's story!

Heather saw her future and Ethan was her savior.

Heather Lane has been reliving a nightmare every day for a while now. When the visions in her nightmare become a reality she is sucked into the supernatural world of the immortals and vampires.

Wow, Heather was truly an amazing character!

I could go on and on about the way I was drawn in by this couple and how amazing their romance was…and of course it was all that. But what caught me most about this story was its uniqueness to the rest of this series. Of course, Duvall wrote another winner with Shadow Strike but this story seemed to push the plot in a new direction with a new, unknown but very menacing threat and I straight out loved it.

If that doesn’t grab you then the mass of all the past characters and their intrical immersion into this plot will without a doubt thrill any Immortal Guardian fan. Although this is a new direction, all the characters we’ve come to love are present in this fabulous adventure.

Bottom line: Dianne Duvall rocks story telling! She is a go to author for me and all her books are on my must read list. If you are a paranormal romance, science fiction and/or fantasy fan add the Immortal Guardians series to your list you won't be disappointed.

I received this ARC copy of Shadow Strike from Kensington Books - Zebra Books in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication August 25, 2015.

This is one of the rare Paranormal Romance series in which I enjoy the main story arc as much, if not more than the lovin’. I have tons of theories, but no concrete leads as to the direction Dianne Duvall plans to go in with her IMMORTAL GUARDIANS, and that’s ok because it’s been one hell of a ride so far! Ethan’s one of the youngest, and least known of Seth’s warriors, and yet he still managed to steal my heart, and Heather fit right in with the other strong females that make up this world. SHADOWS STRIKE is one of my top PNR reads of 2015!

Lisette, the featured protagonist of book 5, was kinda meh for me, so I was concerned that her ex-friend with benefits would fall into that category as well. Ethan’s a fairly new addition to this franchise, and his Gift is a bit of a dud; however the author developed his character in such a way that I was eating out of his hand by chapter two. And, with the exception of Miss d’Alençon, I’ve had no issue with any of this series’ heroines, and Heather’s entrance was so seamless that at times it felt as though she’d been part of the IG family since DARKNESS DAWNS.

The romance was more understated than usual, but it worked well with this book’s hectic story line. The pacing did a complete one-eighty when compared to the previous volume, and that was actually fine because NIGHT UNBOUND was too lovey-dovey IMO. I thought that the emotional connection between the couple helped establish the basis for their relationship, and the sex is (with good reason) smokin’ thanks to death being imminent. In spite of Heather & Ethan’s odd beginnings, I liked where they ended up.

It’s evident that Duvall has a sizable conclusion planned for her IMMORTAL GUARDIANS, and who knows, one of my countless speculations might actually be correct, so I’m going to keep them to myself for now. David, the most chill secondary ever and Seth’s second, actually gets angry in this installment which caused some of the Elders to stop, and take notice. Hmm… Several of the Others finally get off their keisters, and pick a side too. There’s also talk of an apocalypse, and Chris Reordon really makes a case for himself to get his own novel.

SHADOWS STRIKE takes the cake for hottest PNR of the summer!

It’s exciting and sweet, action packed and incredibly sexy. I’ve been smitten with these Immortal Guardians since book one and each book keeps getting better.
"You're the best time I've ever had, Ethan."
Heather Lane has had the same recurring nightmare for year now. She dreams of monsters that attack her in her back yard while a lone mythical creature of a different kind, who also stars in her dreams of the sexy variety, fights by her side. What will she do when the man of her dreams, literally and figuratively, becomes reality and she finds herself in a world where she doesn’t have to hide her mind reading ability because gifts like it are the norm and not the exception?
“We spoke frankly. We liked what we heard. Liked what we say… We didn’t play games. And we got to now each other faster as a result.”

It’s been a year since Ethan and his Immortal Guardian brethren faced off what up until then had been their biggest threat. But the vicious menace is back with more vampire power than ever before and the guardians are scrambling to figure out who’s the next mark. Can Ethan protect Heather from herself and the person who is targeting her? Will her connections with the U.S. Military help the guardians defeat this growing evil?

Since I was first introduced to the world of the Immortal Guardians in Darkness Dawns, I’ve been captivated not only with Dianne Duvall’s writing, but with this group of old and new super humans with advanced DNA and extraordinary abilities that dedicate themselves to protect humanity from the things that go bump in the night, mainly deranged vampires.

Right from the start, that fist chapter is thrillingly gripping. It sets the mood for the strong suspense and tension that’s present throughout the story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I could practically experience the battle scenes like a movie reel with their rich and graphic description. It also introduces the main characters and establishes how well these two click right off the… battle. Because once Heather and Ethan cross paths, the temperature rises every time they’re together.
“You’re beautiful, you’re smart, you think quickly in a crisis, and you kick @ss. Do you have any idea what a desirous combination that is?”

Even though they met under difficult circumstances they were perfect for each other. Heather, with her telepathic gift and military upbringing is strong and didn’t balk too much when faced with the fact that vampires and immortal beings are real. Ethan was even sweeter and funnier than when I met him in Night Unbound and utterly sexy and protective of Heather. It put a smile on my face watching their romance unfold in the midst of danger.
“The fact that he was so sweet and polite only made the situation seem more surreal. A kind vampire with exceptional manners who was learning to administer first aid to humans in need?”

Another aspect I thoroughly enjoy is how Dianne integrates the entire Guardian family seamlessly in a way we get to know about the ongoing lives of characters from previous books and also learn about possible main characters for future ones. No matter whether their part was big or small in this installment, I loved having everyone from Seth, David, and Zack to all the seconds back. “Love. Laughter. Mieschief. Mayhem. Life was never boring at the incredibly powerful elder Immortal Guardian’s home.” And yes, I really, REALLY want Aidan to get his story with a wonderfully emotional happy ever after.
I’ve followed this interesting group of almost indestructible beings experience love and loss and face almost unsurmountable odds. I’ve watched the gang grow and form bonds of friendship, love and passion. With each book there’s always an interesting new threat and twists I never see coming that keep me glued to my seat, I love the way each Immortal finds true eternal love and there are so many other elements that could keep me talking about this series for hours. This book and series are completely addicting.

Shadow Strike is book #6 in the Immortal Guardians series by Dianne Duvall. It is a standalone, full-length, paranormal romance filled lots of action, intense adrenaline pumping moments as well as sweet and sexy ones. Told from various points of view, with interconnecting characters from previous books in the series, with a happy ending.

Update: 07/11/14: Review originally published on Bookgatherer.

Book provided by NetGalley

Dianne Duvall did it again. She sucked me right into her newest installment of the Immortal Guardians series. The only thing stopping me from reading this in one sitting was my bodys need for food and sleep. It was that good.

I requested it on NetGalley without any hope of being accepted, but I wanted to try at least and when I was accepted I might have jumped around happily a little bit, but shh, don't tell anybody.

Anyway, let's move on to the book.

Shadows Strike starts about a year after what happened in Night Unbound , with Heather sitting at an obscure early hour (I'm a night person, so 5am is too early for me) outside waiting for her dream, that she is having since a year, to come true.

I loved Heather, she was funny, knew how to handle a gun, took the whole 'vampires are real' talk like someone told her the sun was shining outside and she was the perfect match for Ethan.

We got a first glimpse of Ethan in Night Unbound, when he came to Lisette's aid. I was immediately - I'm going to borrow a phrase from Dianne now - smitten with him. Now he finally got his own book and I have to say, he's still as funny as he was in the previous book. He cares deeply for Heather and I love his interaction with Heather's father. So funny. I would take him in a heartbeat.

The chemistry of those two was there right from the very first moment and the progress in their relationship felt right to me. It didn't happen too fast or too slow.

Then another thing I loved about Shadows Strike is that we see a lot of the other characters as well, especially Zach and Seth (If you read my review for Night Unbound, you will notice that I love those guys to death.)

I love the Immortal Guardians books by Dianne Duvall, because she makes all of her characters look like a big, caring family I wish I could be a part of.

In regards of the whole story the story arc made a big step forward. A new enemie shows himself and wrecks a lot of havoc, new alliances are build and I can't wait to see how everything will develop in the next book of the Immortal Guardians series. Could someone please develop a time machine, so I can go and get it in the future?

If you haven't yet started the Immortal Guardians series I recommened that you start with Darkness Dawns. If you are a loyal fan like me and loved all of the previous books, you won't find anything in this that you will dislike. So pick it up and be prepared for a book hangover. BIG TIME. I don't know what to do with my life right now. This book ruined other books for me right now. I'm going to need some time to get over it.

4.5 Badass paranormal stars

I’m a huge fan of the Immortal Guardians series, and I couldn’t wait to dive back into this world. Like the other books in the series we get a hot, angst-free romance, heaps of action, brilliant character dynamics and lots of paranormal badassery. It’s intense from start to finish, and I absolutely loved it!

Ethan has been a bit of a background character in the series so far. As the youngest of the Immortal Guardians (he’s only 100 or so), he hasn’t been featured much, but he comes into his own in this book, and I absolutely loved him!

Our heroine is Heather. She’s new to the series, a human who is gifted with the ability to read minds who, for the last year, has been having disturbingly realistic dreams in which she aids a gorgeous, not quite human man in a vicious fight against vampires. When that dream comes true, that man turns out to be Ethan, and she is immediately swept up in him as his world when the two of them share an immediate attraction.

“You’re beautiful, you’re smart, you think quickly in a crisis, and you kick ass. Do you have any idea what a desirous combination that is?”
“Since I could say the same about you, yes.”
He grinned. “You’re bold, too? Be still my heart.”

I adore the love stories in this series! There is never any messing about or game playing. There is an attraction, they acknowledge it early, they act on it quickly, and they are totally open and honest about their feelings, and what they want from each other. It’s incredibly refreshing to read, giving you the opportunity to soak up the romance without having to worry about stupidity coming between the couple. Especially because there is enough going on external to the relationship without adding unnecessary drama!

It seems that Heather is being used as a pawn… somebody is getting into her mind as a way of provoking future events, and with the Immortal Guardians facing one of their most powerful and dangerous adversaries yet, that’s bad news for our crew. But Heather has unique connections which can help in the upcoming battle, and with everybody involved in the unfolding conflict, it’s one hell of a ride!

This book is action packed! We get to see all of the Immortals (and their Seconds) in action as the group are attacked en masse in a way they never have been before. It’s violent, it’s scary, and it’s exciting as all hell! These guys pack some serious powers, and I love getting to see them all in action.

This is a sensational group of characters! And I love that even after their individual stories have been told in their own books, they all continue to play a big part in the series. With each book the cast grows and grows, and it creates fantastic dynamics! Especially when a poor, unsuspecting human is in the unique situation of falling for somebody while surrounded by Immortals who are able to read minds.

He looked really good. Pure temptation. He was so close. So warm. And probably still hard for her beneath the blankets and the sweatpants she could now see he wore.
“Marshal your thoughts, woman,” Aidan pleaded with a comical grimace. “You’re broadcasting, and this is getting a little uncomfortable.”

This series is funny, romantic, sexy, exciting and full of paranormal awesomeness. The world is well developed, the story moves at a great pace, and I had trouble putting this one down. And with a few twists thrown in towards the end of this book, I can’t wait for whatever is coming next.

I loved it – 4.5 stars

Shadows Strike by Dianne Duvall is the 6th book in her Immortal Guardians series. I love this series so I was really looking forward to this one and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a wonderful mix of engaging romance and action-packed excitement.

In Shadows Strike, the battle with the powerful and elusive Other, Gershom, gets even more expansive and potentially apocalyptic. The action reaches a grand scale with multiple battles against large forces of enemies. The action scenes are well written and vividly portrayed. The danger and tension emanates from the pages. This was a story that once I got started, I didn’t want to put it down.

But don’t worry, it’s not all action. There are plenty of moments where you can sit back and take a breath. The romance between Heather and Ethan is well developed and unfolds nicely within the story. It’s straightforward, sexy and sweet. A nice complement to the fast paced and in depth plot.

Ethan is a century old Immortal Guardian. He’s been feeling isolated and lonely and is headed to David’s, where the Immortal Guardians tend to congregate, when he stops to fight a group of vampires. It’s during this fight that he comes across Heather and she ends up helping him defeat the vampires. Heather meanwhile, has been dreaming of the vampire attack and Ethan every night for the last year. So when it actually happens, she has a hard time believing it’s real. This made for a rather amusing meeting and thus begins their romance.

Heather and Ethan were both decent and caring characters that you couldn’t help but like. Their interactions are interspersed with humor and heartfelt moments. I admit I was a little worried that Ethan would still be hung up on Lisette but that wasn’t the case. I never had any doubt in my mind that Heather was the one for him and that he wouldn’t trade her for anyone or anything. He still cares for Lisette but only as a friend.

I really enjoyed Shadows Strike. It’s an interesting and completely engrossing story that will have you smiling one moment and biting your nails the next. I look forward to the next book as I’m anxious to read more of the ongoing storyline. I’m hoping for Aidan’s story next, the ancient and lonely Celt who yearns and searches for a Gifted One of his own.

I highly recommend Shadows Strike and the Immortal Guardians series to fans of paranormal romance.

4.5 stars.

It’s a stand alone book but is better if you read this series from book #1.
Because while the couple different in each book, the main storyline is the same from book #1 and you need to read all books in the series to enjoy this series more.

I am late to the Immortal Guardians party. I picked up an anthology a couple of weeks back featuring a short story from this world and liked it enough to try and jump in. Boy, am I glad I did. I really enjoyed this. It’s the sixth book in the series, and there is clearly some stuff I missed, but none of it detracted from the story at hand, or the romance.

For the past year, Heather has been having the same dream about a vampire attack –and the super-sexy vamp who helps fight them off. Imagine her surprise when her dream becomes reality and suddenly the hot guy from her dream is a flesh and bone charmer standing in front of her. Heather never thought vampires were real, but she carries a special gift of her own, telepathy. Between her own supernatural ability and all those dreams, she takes the news better than most.

If you’re not familiar with these books, they features a few different kinds of characters. Regular humans, which are self-explanatory; then gifted humans, like Heather. There are vampires, which are regular humans turned by the vampire virus, and Immortal, which are gifted ones turned by the vampire virus. (There are Others, too, but let’s put that aside for now.) Basically, human DNA can’t handle the virus very well and all vampires eventually go crazy, while Immortals stay sane and protect the world from the crazy vamps. Ethan is an Immortal and the man-candy in Heather’s dream.

The two fall for each other pretty quickly, though it helped that Heather felt like she knew him from her dreams. Her telepathy and family ties to the military make her am ideal candidate to help the Immortal cause. It seems that Gershom, a powerful (Other) bad-guy, is amassing a vampire army, hoping to manipulate the human military into starting Armageddon. Heather can help stop his plan, but she’ll need all of the Immortal Guardians to stop him.

Writing that out makes me realize that it’s kind of complicated, but it’s totally in a good way. For people who are already fans of the series, I’m sure it makes total sense, but even for a newbie like me, I promise, you’ll catch on pretty fast. The arc moves along quickly, but no sot fast that you can’t keep pace. It’s just right to keep the pages turning.

Ethan and Heather are both likeable characters and they are good together. The sexual tension and physical aspects are hot, but their emotional connection is good too. There is a healthy mutual respect between them and I loved how much they both wanted to protect each other, without ever taking away the other’s agency. What I loved even more is this phenomenal cast of characters that make up the Guardians and their team. These characters are so well drawn. They’re unique and I feel drawn to so many of them, I can’t wait to go back and read the five books that came before this one.

I almost never jump into a series on book 6, but I am so glad that I did. I hope I enjoy the backlist as much as I did this installment. I have a feeling I will!

(PureTextuality.com) This series is one of my top paranormal series that I read, and I read more than my share of them, I found this book on Net Galley in exchange for a fair and honest review, and I jumped at the chance to read it. I always look forward to any book by this author.

Heather has been having the same dream for a year. So she has started putting herself in the situation from her dream every morning before dawn. This involves going outside and sitting in a clearing until a group of vampires comes. Of course she doesn’t believe in vampires but still… And one day it happens-just as she dreamed it. She gets involved in fighting the vampires along side of a vampire that has starred in dreams of a different sort as well-the bedroom kind. Only he is more than just a vampire. Thus begins the relationship between Ethan, an immortal guardian, and Heather, a telepath.

Immortal guardians are people that have the vampire virus along with something in their DNA that gives them an extra gift. Those that are gifted are immortal, while vampires without gifts slowly go crazy if they aren’t killed. Immortal guardians are tasked with ridding the world of vampires before they become insane. In this author’s world building, humans do not know about vampires or immortal guardians-except for a select few that are liaisons between the human and immortal guardian world.

An ancient villain is creating vampire armies, one of which starts by wiping out a small island military installment. It’s up to the guardians to find where the army is hiding and destroy them. That’s the basic premise, but the romance between Ethan and Heather is really the crux of the story for me. Ethan is not as old as the others, at only about a hundred years or so. This means he isn’t quite as strong as the others either. Happily for Ethan, he finds out that Heather is not only having precognitive dreams, but she can also read minds. This means she is one of the few that can be changed to an immortal guardian. She is also daughter of a general, and has been helping him in situations where people could be lying in high security type jobs or other things of that sort.

I thought the premise was very well thought out and constructed by the author. With each of these books, more layers are added to the story. In other words, more characters, more villains, more background, and of course more world building is interwoven into the plot making for a more complex story from one book to the next. Always a good thing. Each book features a different couple, but the premises take the romance and add action and life or death moments at any given moment. This book had very detailed fight scenes between immortal guardians and vampires, so much so, that the reader is drawn right into the action. at least it feels that way.The pacing of the story was perfect for a book of this ilk.

The romance between Ethan and Heather was sweet, but also very sensual. Their meeting and subsequent relationship was easy and their chemistry together more than hot-from the beginning, although it’s not an immediate jump into a relationship thing. It was good to see Ethan get his happy ever after, especially since he was so hurt when his long, but loveless(on her part) relationship with another guardian was broken off. And something else I enjoyed about this read? The inclusion of a new ancient happens in this installment, and I am already wondering when he will get his own book and happy ever after, as well. Unless he’s not a good guy. Hopefully he will be!

If you enjoy paranormal books and vampires in particular, I highly recommend this book. Of course it’s for adults only. Always a non-stop read for me!

Heather Lane is a U.S. enforcement agent who can read minds. She hides her gift by claiming to read faces. This allows her to learn whether a client is lying. For the past year, she has been plagued by a dream occurring in a meadow. In the dream, seven men attack a sole male dressed in black. The dream is always the same and she awakes at the very same moment. It has also led to daydreams and sex dreams about the man dressed in black. All of this leads her to look for the field and place herself there every morning. When her dream become reality Heather soon finds herself plunged into a dark world she never knew existed and into the arms of Ethan.

Duvall writes an action packed series that keeps me on edge from the present danger to the overall series ARC. However, the characters are what keep me coming back. Ethan is an Immortal Guardian with the ability to remember everything. He can describe in minute detail a room or place and can recall complete conversations. I adored Ethan; he is a little shy, sometimes cocky and a whole lotta sexy. Heather is such a kick-ass heroine. She is a military brat and her Daddy the General taught well. Mind readers generally don't have the gift of premonition and the thread about her dreams was fascinating adding to the overall suspense. We spend time with all the Immortals, and get updates as well as see hints of stories to come. Duvall has created this dynamic family with different personalities all working to save the world. I feel at home at David's and care about each of them. The banter, teasing, feuds and the way they work together as a team have made this series a hit for me.

The romance between them developed like most romances in this genre, but Duvall made their feelings feel genuine and quickly had me falling for them. Heather’s independent, take-charge nature added delicious tension and humor. From the beginning, their connection and the chemistry felt genuine. Readers are sure to fall for them and I found myself smiling as these two tangoed.

Someone is attacking military bases leaving those on the base for dead. The government is scrambling to figure out who is behind these attacks. When Heather’s Dad asked her to analyze a survivor, it becomes clear to her and the Immortals that vampires are involved. Shadows Strike plot was well crafted, with high body counts, suspense and twists to keep you guessing. As dark as the story was, Duvall manages to lighten things up with banter between the characters and tender moments between the couples. A scene involving Heather’s Dad while intense had me laughing aloud.

As always Duvall has given her readers an action packed read that is thoroughly entertaining. She keeps us up to date on what her past books couples are up to while putting new couples together. The evil foes continue to change and their nefarious plotting always varies. Some new faces that will surely be strong allies for the Immortal Guardians were introduced in the sixth instalment of this amazing series.

Ethan and Heather made for a fun couple. Ethan is easygoing and lighthearted. Heather is spirited and full of life. Their personalities meshed so perfectly. I loved them as a couple. Their story to happily ever after was sweet and sexy and made for a captivating read. Heather has known for years that she is different from everyone around her. She has adapted and knows how to work with her gifted abilities without anyone being the wiser. When her literal dream man comes crashing into her yard fighting the vampires that have been haunting her dreams she does the only thing that comes to mind, she fights back her attackers. Ethan being the youngest Immortal Guardian is thankful for the fighter he found with Heather when he notices just how outnumbered they are. Finding someone fun, sexy, and a gifted one to spend his time with is just an added bonus that he has full intentions of keeping around.

I have some serious grabby fingers for Aidan’s book and I hope his book is next. He is dying to get a lady gifted one all for himself. The things he is doing to see this happen is seriously entertaining. This man is willing to do almost anything to get a girlfriend/wife/permanent lady in his life. That alone guarantees an amazing read. Get to writing Dianne!

I don't think it's a big secret that I'm a fan of Dianne Duvall. I haven't read everything she's read, but I have read every book in her Immortal Guardians series. I've been reading it ever since Book 1, Darkness Dawns, was released and I devour them like they're going out of style. Shadows Strike was another amazing installment in this series.

I really liked Heather. She was kind and caring and she was pretty funny too. I really enjoyed her irreverence. She wasn't a comedian or anything. I guess maybe she was just sort of practical? And when someone is practical during a tense or dramatic moment, it tends to take the piss out of a situation, you know? I don't think Heather ever really freaked out or lost her cool about anything. That's not to say that she wasn't scared - she was terrified...often. But I think she had an ace up her sleeve that made her a bit more ready to deal with the existence of immortals and vampires: her dad. He's a general and he's an important guy in some really secret stuff. Heather occasionally does consults for the government/her dad and his group. So she's worked around hush-hush, unbelievable things. Oh and she's able to read minds. Did I forget to mention that? LOL! So it makes sense that not much ruffles her feathers!

Ethan was pretty cool. To be honest, I've read this entire series and I didn't remember much about Ethan. He's one of the youngest, if not THE youngest, of all the Immortal Guardians. I think he's around 100 years old? When some of the Guardians are THOUSANDS of years old, it's difficult to be impressed with Ethan's age. Having said that, Ethan is still amazing. He's a kick-ass fighter and it seemed to me that he was maybe even a bit stronger than he should have been. Plus, since he's fairly modern, he's got a sense of humor and many of the Immortal Guardians don't. Of course, I loved how sweet and sort of old-fashioned he was with Heather. No matter how you look at it, Ethan's a catch!

The Sexy Time was sufficient and hot - not too much, not too little. I liked how the relationship played out between Heather and Ethan. It felt like they took their time to get to know each other. But when you're in life or death situations, the get-to-know-each-other time is condensed. So the love story was able to move along at a good pace.

I loved this book. It feels like the author puts out one of the books in this series each year, when I'd rather have the twice or three times each year! LOL! The story was exciting and well paced. There was tons of action, a little mystery, and a few laughs. Like most of the books in this series, there was a least one snort-out-loud moment, which embarrasses the hell out of me but I also love. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I do not recommend starting this series here. Each book is just as wonderful as this one so why not get the full picture? After getting this one, go back and start at the beginning with Darkness Dawns. I promise - you won't regret it!

The sixth book in the Immortal Guardians series tells the story of Ethan, an Immortal with a unique gift and Heather, a gifted one.

Heather Lane has been dreaming about meeting Ethan for a year now. She’s been having the same dream over and over again about a man slaying creatures with fangs. Heather thinks she must be going crazy. Vampires don’t exist in her world. Heather may be able to read minds but as far as she’s concerned there are no supernatural creatures out there.

When Ethan saves Heather from a group of savage vampires, he thinks it must be a coincidence meeting her but then he finds out about her gift. It can’t be a coincidence that Heather has been dreaming about him or the circumstances under which they met. The only thing he knows for sure is that will do everything to protect her.

Shadows Strike was so different from the other books in the series!!! I had so much fun reading it mostly because I had no idea what was going to happen. Expect the unexpected. There were so many things going on: the enemies of the Immortal Guardians aren’t only the vampires anymore but member of the Others too.

Heather and Ethan were a very dynamic couple. They were strong, determined, loyal and honest. I loved how Heather, although full of doubts in the beginning, accepted Ethan’s world.

What I also loved, were the secondary characters: Zach and Lisette, Seth, David, Marcus and Ami and their baby girl, Adira, Aidan, Darnell, Sheldon, Tracy, Ed and so many more. I especially liked Jared, a new character. Jared is Zach’s cousin and apparently now an ex member of the Others. I really want to find out more about him. Maybe he will be the next one to get a story although I’m hoping it will be Seth. Shadows Strikes was the ultimate “Seth scenes” book. We got so many scenes with him and Adira. They were INSANELY incredible.

Ethan and Heather’s book was an exceptional addition to the Immortal Guardians series. They both were amazing main characters and an explosive couple.

I don’t know who is next but I’m hoping it’s Seth or Aidan. I felt really sorry for the poor fellow. Or maybe it will be Jared. I have no idea who is next but I’ll definitely be reading it.

Highly recommended!

Let me just say that I kept putting off reading this book, and dragging my feet to get to it. Now I’m not really sure why. Shadows Strike is the sixth novel in Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series. It is written in a third person point-of-view from many different standpoints. It can be read as a standalone novel, but I wouldn’t recommend it as it should be read as a series. You would likely miss a lot in translation just jumping into these books mid-series.

In particular, Shadows Strike is centered around an Immortal Guardian named Ethan and U.S. law enforcement agent named Heather. I was extremely excited for this book originally because it is Ethan’s story and after the last book, I really wanted to see him get an HEA with someone. To be honest, I can’t even sum this up better than the book synopsis does, it basically nails it.

What you wont’ hear about in the synopsis is the over arcing story-line within this book and series. So, that being said, let me just first state that these Shadows Strike, just like there rest of the Immortal Guardian’s books are exceedingly well written. You have a banter, romance, intrigue, action, and a plot that will suck you in.

My one and only complaint with this book is that they are starting to seem repetitive. It wasn’t as pronounced in this book because things did happen differently. I do feel like the actual relationship was rushed so that you can read more of the over arching plot than about the book characters. I’d like to say it adds to the whole appeal of it, but.. it still feels rushed. On the other hand, you do get so much plot and information that you’re still hooked on these books. I’m still curious about which IG will be in the next book!

I gave the book a four star rating. The only reason why it’s not a five star is because of the repetitive go in and blow something up at the end. This time -was- different, which I enjoyed, but still basically a variety of the same ending. Would still definitely recommend the series, if for nothing else, the over arching plot has been amazing.

WOW ANTOHER GREAT STORY!!

Book 6 Shadows Strike of the Immortal Guardians is another big success. Ethan' story picks up were book 5 stops. The IG are stealing doing there nightly patrols hunting and killing Vampires and Seth, Zach David are still looking for The Other Gersome who has been creating massive vampire armies.

Heather Lane has been having the same dream for a year. She dreams of a Vampire attack but one man/Ethan is her savior. When the Dream comes true it take Healther aback as she thinks the dream has just changed and is lasting longer then usual. At first during the encounter with them fighting the Vampire Ethan thins Heather is one of the Guardians 2nds. To his surprise she is not. Heather is shocked to realize that Vampires are real and that Ethan isn't one but a IG.

The Storyline expands a lot in Shadow Strikes. We meet new Immortal Guardian and Others. Healthers father General Lane and some parts of the Military are brought into the loop an confidence of the Network and Seth, Zach and David. I was glad to see how well Zach and Lisette were getting along after there marriage. I fell in love with Adira who is almost 1yrs old in the story. Adira is Marcus and Ami baby girl. She has everyone wrapped around the chubby fingers. Aidan has a good storyline in the Shadow Strikes. We meet him in the last book. I hope his story is next and I am glad that we have a lot of new characters to look forward to reading about in there stories. I also hope the story expands so the Immortals can have there own babies. It's possible, Kerrelyn Sparks did it in her "Love At Stakes Vampire series" I hope Ms. Duvall finds a way to incorporate the immortals having babies in her storyline. Children make for great secondary characters in stories and give the story depth and layers.

I Highly Recommend Shadows Strikes. It is a great story with lots of Hot Sexy Romance between Ethan and Heather. Loads of Action moving at a steady pace. Fully developed characters with an in depth storyline. Very Well Done!!

So imagine that you have been having very disturbing dreams about what appears to be vampires and in particular one very brave warrior. Unfortunately that warrior always dies in Heathers dreams but now she has located the exact spot where all the mayhem goes down and morbid curiosity sees her waiting there but for what she isn't sure. Are Heathers dreams crazy or prophetic? Well apparently something strange is happening because yep fanged creatures appear and so does the warrior but this time he survives the fight and oh boy is Heather confused!
Ethan is an Immortal warrior battling to save humanity from vampires and cannot quite believe it when a young woman not only helps him battle fearsome vampires but appears to have spent the past year dreaming of him! Hey he's happily onboard to be her dreamboat but when he realises that Heather is a "gifted one" it's clear there's something else going on here and time to take Heather to meet his fellow Guardians. Heather feels safe with Ethan but she isn't too sure about the secret group he is part of but time is not on their side and Heather is about to be thrust into a dangerous war where not even the military can save her. Armageddon is coming their way!
This book had it all from action to romance and even more information about the elusive Seth! Fans of this series will enjoy this instalment as there is so much going on and never a dull moment. Hey the gangs all here and it's great to see favourite characters all work together in battle but there's also more playful moments to enjoy. Ethan is sweet and protective but I loved his reactions when Heather showed just how kick ass she can be! A brave heroine, a delicious hero and so many surprises. Yes it's fair to say I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read more

4.5 stars.

Hands down the best in this series. This one was action-packed and the author got EVERYONE involved. Normally, I am a romance first person. But this book focused more on the overall plot and the couple's HEA was secondary. It worked faboulously.
In the last book, we were introduced to a new villian Gershim, who was hell bent on punishing Seth. He continued to wreck havoc in this installment.
Meanwhile, Immortal Guardian Ethan was rescued by US enforcement agent named Heather Lane. It turns out that Heather has some unique gifts marking her as a "gifted one". By saving Ethan from the attacking vampires, Heather became embroiled in the battle between the Immortal Guardians and the Vampires. Normally it wouldn't be a cause for concern, but after the last attack on Lisette, Yuri and Stanislov, it is clear that the Vampires have serious help. In addition, the Immortal Guardians have a spy in their midsts.

Will they be able to uncover the person betraying them and the save the country in time?

What a roller coaster of enjoyment. I just enjoyed this one from start to finish. The writing got even better, the characters more likable, the story was developed more and the romance was still a vital part of the series. This book was one of favorite reads for the year.

Best in the series so far!

One of the things I loved about this installment - the H/h never lied to each other or hid their feelings. From the jump, they were open and honest about themselves and how they felt about each other.

I'm SO very happy that the closure of a major story line is not the the end of the series!

Shadows Strike took me on another intense and fantastic journey into the world of the Immortal Guardians.  This installment is by far the most intense installment when compared to the previous books. At the end of his friends with benefits arrangement with Lisette, I wondered if he would have his chance at love. Well, Shadows Strike delivered Ethan’s love story and so much more.

This installment started with a bang and had me on the edge of my seat from the first page. Action, suspense and romance are the ingredients which drove this installment. In the midst of the action, Duvall infused humour and witty banter which had this reader grinning from ear to ear.

Now, while each book in the series features a different couple, it’s best to read the books in order of release because of the overarching plot driving the series. The situation arising from the previous installment intensified with the revelation of the enemy’s identity and motive. A motive steeped in jealousy.

Ethan is fairly new to the series, and I was keen to learn more about his character. Ethan possessed an uncanny ability to remember everything down to the smallest detail. Although his gift was not as powerful as the other immortals, he possessed top notch fighting skills. Skills which came in handy the night he first met Heather, his love interest. Heather is a US enforcement agent and the daughter of an army General, who possesses the ability to read minds, making her a gifted one. An added layer of excitement came with her introduction to the series. I loved how she adapted to the world of the Immortal Guardians after overcoming her initial shock about their existence and that of vampires. One would have never guessed she was new to the world.

Now, unlike the Night Unbound, the romance in Shadows Strike was not front and centre. With the level of action and suspense permeating the story, this came as no surprise. The romance which developed was not of the slow burn variety, which is the norm for the genre. However, despite the instant connection, their chemistry was undeniable. Their sexy banter and the way they were open with each other made it easy to get on board with their romance.

The secondary characters added another exciting layer to the story. We get caught up with those from the previous books meet new ones in this installment. The introduction of a particular character and the role played left me wishing for his story.

Now while I enjoyed Shadows Strike, I wished that Heather and Ethan’s gift played a major role. With that said, I enjoyed my revisit to world of the Immortal Guardians. I am eager for my next visit as the threat sill looms.

I missed the voice of Kirsten Potter in Phantom Embrace, so it made me happy knowing she narrated Shadows Strike. She’s the voice of the series and I cannot imagine anyone topping her performance. Her performance breathed life into the story and the characters. One could feel the excitement and the tension.

Shadows Strike delivered an action packed read, featuring a kick ass heroine and a cocky but likeable Immortal.

I liked the couple even though things happened way too fast. And I would be incredibly pissed if my partner didn't let me know other people could hear our intimate times. I felt embarrassed for the heroine in a lot of situations here. Hehe

And Aidan is a cutie that I can't wait to read about. He makes stalking sounds okay somehow lol

Heather’s nightmares come true and she’s suddenly flung into the middle of a war between predators and protectors of humanity and she can’t be sure who to trust in this thrilling action-packed paranormal romance.

Heather can read minds not tell the future but suddenly she finds herself in the battle from her nightmares with Ethan the sexy immortal beside her and the reader can’t help but get drawn into all the excitement as Ethan and Heather try to stay alive while unraveling the enemies strategies. The attraction between Heather and Ethan sizzles from every page with some hot and steamy sex scenes but the relationship is hampered by trust issues, the war and whatever mysterious plans the enemy has in store for Heather while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, action and romance.

Deadly attacks, mysterious plans, governmental issues and trust issues keeps everyone including readers on their toes as the Guardians enemy makes several lethal moves and then escalates the danger by a surprising whopper of an attack that puts everyone in peril. Vivid imagery brings the story to life as the action packed excitement keeps the adrenaline pumping and the well written scenes and intriguing events ensure that the reader can’t put the book down. Expectation builds throughout the story as more of the enemy’s plans are revealed and the danger escalates with surprising twists ensuring that the reader as well as the characters are kept on their toes.

This series gets more intense and exciting with every story as the one of the Others continues to wreak havoc around the world. The fascinating and suspenseful world enthralls me every time and as I finished this one I reached the conclusion that it’s only going to get better as the Immortals joined by a few trustworthy humans try to stop Armageddon. Note: for the full impact of the continuing war, this series is best read in sequence.

Because of the ex being such a big part of the story, I never intended to read it. But after reading Night Unbound I figured I needed to read it for the overall story arc. And I was right. It was an important book for the series and there was a total n of action and a lot going on. There were wonderful scenes with all the secondary characters I have come to love. Plus Adria. The cutest baby ever!

The couple themselves? Meh. They were not that interesting to me and I really was not feeling the chemistry. i liked Kimberly much more so that Ethan. He was pretty much a dud to me.

That being said, it was not the worst story of the series - which I really enjoy overall. I cannot wait for Aidens book. I am willing to bribe the author for David and Seth's stories. Knowing Seth's history, I am more intrigued with David right now.

This is Ethan's book. Heather is a telepath who has been dreaming of vampires attacking a clearing near her home for a year now and when the attack finally happens she thinks she is still dreaming, until Ethan shows her that it isn't a dream at all but it has truely happened. Things start to go from bad to worse when the Immortals get wind of another vampire attack of an army base and the hunt is on again for who is behind it all.

This book is fast paced and brings in more characters, I can see more story lines coming down the track, and packs a punch! I have to say that each book in this series gets better and better. I love this series and now cant' wait to see what else Dianne comes up with!

Dianne Duvall has created an absolutely fantastic story. The 'Immortal Guardians' is a different take on the paranormal vampire story. The Immortal's while having the vampire virus, with their different DNA, they do not become insane as a normal human would. Each has special gifts from shape-shifting to telepathic. The older the Immortal the more power they possess. This story evolves around Ethan and Heather, an Immortal and young woman with telepathic abilities. This is the sixth story in the series and while you can read it stand alone, I highly recommend that you read the first five, they will not disappoint!!

Shadows Strike de Dianne Duvall
serie Immortal Guardians libro 6

Argumento:

Gracias!

Cliff, ya dije cuánto me agrada él? Ayudando a Aidan a buscar novia?
