Cameron has always been alone. There's no place for him in his nest, no room for him among his brothers' friends, and no way he's going back to the blue academy that expelled him. But what happens to that solitude when Cameron meets another loner, one who actually sees him for who he is?
SOLE is a love story, a glimpse into a quiet world. It's a fantastical link to Combs' CORE SERIES. Find hidden information, clues, and facts about the dragon world that you won't find in the novels. For more on the CORE SERIES, visit Teshelle Combs' author page.

Awe!!!!! Ok I just think Cameron is just adorable. Actually is it sad that I love Cameron out of all the guy characters in this story?? I hope it isn't because Cam is just adorable!!
The characters were great especially the two focal point characters, My and Cam. I thought they work wonderfully together, and I would love to see more of their story.
A good prerequisite to the next book. 5 star rating.
Cameron was one of my favorite characters from Core so you know I was excited when I found out there was a novella about him. Not just him but Myriah, uhh, I just love those two together and it was great to see how they came to be. Which definitely surprised me for unknown reasons. Getting to know more about blue dragons and how they mate was pretty sweet as well. That trip to Wal-Mart was everything that I didn't realize that I needed.
I absolutely adore Teshelle's writing style, the way she paints the scene drags you in that makes you feel that you're watching it on a screen. I can't wait to read of the Core Series and more works from Mrs. Combs.
If you loved the Core and wanted to know more about Cameron, Myriah and blue dragons, I suggest you pick Sole up.
I'm hooked on this author. I love starting out with novellas because I get to test the author's writing style. Wow! Is all I can say. This may sound strange but I'm not in as love with the characters as I am with Combs' writing style. So refreshing and reads like poetry. The characters are beautiful and real, and I am committed to following their story. Loved Cam and Myra!
I really enjoyed this story. I liked getting a glimpse into the lives of two characters we did not learn much about in Core. I could really feel their emotions while reading this story.
This novella gives us insight into Cameron and Myra who we met briefly at times in Core. My heart breaks for them. But I also empathize with them as I remember all the times I was the wall flower growing up and felt overlooked myself. I love how organic their relationship developed and feels. I want more of them. 💜
I am still teary eyed. Cameron is such a lost soul. I love his dragon story even though it tore my heart. Sole is a emotional insight into a hidden and under appreciated being. My favorite Core book yet~well done Tess!
I jumped into this one right after I finished the first. I loved this so much. The background on Cam and Myra, their relationship, all of it. It was so good and it made me love them, they’re most definitely my current favourite characters in this series. Now onto the next!
I love these characters! They are so sincere in their interactions, whether they be awkward, honest, or sweet. Those little stolen moments are the best.
I need someone who wants to know me. Just one person.
But I am more than that. I’m a dragon. My race is part of who I am. I am not my race. This is one amazingly heart-breaking story while being heart-warming at the very same time! I am beyond words at Cameron's story and am oh so very honored to know his horrible secret(s)! Cam was one of those characters in Core that had me intrigued, mystified and more than a little heart-sore trying to figure him out & understand his idiosyncrasies. Or at least I perceived them as idiosyncrasies...until I read this story. Now, now it all begins to make sense! Now I know why he is the person he is. Now I WHO he is! I just want to hug him, protect him and just be there for him! I am in awe of Teshelle and her masterful storytelling! Myra was also a fascinating character that I loved the insight into her as well. This story helps to shed some light on “background” or “side” stories to Core. I love that I can read a 40-50 pg story that has the same impact on me that Core did! It drew me in, it held me so entranced that I actually read this instead of hanging out with the family after Easter Dinner!! YES, IT IS THAT GREAT!! I can't wait to continue reading this series!! There are so many original, unique and ingenuous traits to EVERYTHING! I still stand behind my claim after reading Core, book 1 of this series- it felt like I was reading my very first paranormal story...EVER! And since I have been reading them since I was in my early teens, in fact before they were even CALLED paranormal stories, and it has almost always been my favorite class of books, I have read a TON of them, so it is saying a LOT!! In fact, I have read more books than I can count (or remember, even!). This is a very high compliment to Teshelle and I can’t wait to continue reading this series. This series has pulled me in so deep that I find it hard to start reading any other book! I hope that Teshelle plans to write many MANY more books in the series for years to come! I will eagerly (& impatiently) be there for the entire ride! Teshelle has this phenomenal gift that enables her to write these stories that are so amazing, so deep, so engrossing and all-encompassing where the characters have so many layers to them, add in such detailed worlds, history and so many different aspects & unique characteristics to the stories is what makes this series stand out from the rest!
I received this in exchange for my honest review, and after reading The Core, I wasn't disappointed.
Sole is a follow-up novella to The Core following Cameron and Myra and I finished it in about two hours.
My only qualm about this is that I think this book could have been a full-length novel, but I also understand why she stopped where she did. I can only hope she will continue their story in a sequel novella in the future...? *hint*
Cameron is a blue dragon, and I liked him instantly in The Core. He was a secondary character, and yet Cale seemed to relate the most with his blue brother, despite being a red dragon. Especially when Cam's relationship with Myra caught me by surprise in The Core, I was all too happy to dive into this novella.
These two are wise, especially for their age, and that's hard to do when a blue and red dragon match up like Cam and Myra do. They meet by chance when Cam goes to conduct an experiment and runs into Myra as she tries to run away, just to see if anyone notices. From there, they have a profound understanding of each other that only grows the more they interact with each other.
There's a major bombshell that's dropped that gives a whole new meaning to Cameron that we didn't know before and I have to say, I'm even more in love with him and My than I was in The Core. If you want to see a complicated relationship bloom between two outcasts that are trying, taking everything day by day, you will not be disappointed.
I received this book from my husband who won it in a competition. I am a ember of the review team at The Paranormal Bookshelf.
Category: dragons Spoilers: no Book 1 of the Core Novellas
Cameron and Myra are surrounded by people but feeling so alone. Cam is a blue dragon, Myra is a red dragon and they are both loners and very lonely, both wanting someone to notice them. Cam sneaks out of his house one night and literally runs into Myra.
I was enthralled by this book. It showed to me the way really intelligent people have trouble interacting with those around them and thus being misinterpreted. I gave this book four stars for the way the main characters intermingled with each other and learnt from each other. My only regret with this book is the sudden ending. It just stopped out of nowhere in what seemed to be the middle of an important place for the characters.
This is sort of a behind the scenes deeper look at two characters from the Core series. In this view you really get the feel of the dragons as a family with all the complicated family relationships.
You'll better understand how alone Mayra and Cameron each feel, how misunderstood. The heartbreak and heavy sadness that settles over one's soul when he feels unnoticed, unlistened to, under valued. There are things alluded to in the Core novels that are explained in this novella, things that make you go - oh, I understand so much better now, and cut your heart a little deeper.
Teshelle Combs writes such complete characters that you feel you know them while still desiring to have more revealed. It is an amazing path she leads us down.
I am grateful to the author for allowing me to read this novella in exchange for my opinion.
I received "Sole" through a Goodreads giveaway. I have not read any of Combs' other novels, so I had no prior knowledge of her style or dragon "tales". Because of that, "Sole" was difficult for me to get into and follow. Honestly, had it been longer, I probably would not have finished it. I like the bigger picture Combs' attempts to project. Connecting with the characters feelings was not difficult. However, connecting with the storyline was. I think I finally understood the dragon abilities, but could not wrap my head around the idea of dragons in Wal-Mart. I'll eventually try reading another of Combs' novels.
*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Aww, I loved this novella. Cameron was such an intriguing character in Core and I loved that Teshelle decided to write his story. In Core we were so involved in the MCs problems that when Cam and Myra revealed they were together I was blindsided. I so did not see it coming.
If I had to complain about anything it would be that it ended too quickly. I hope to see more of Cam and Myra in the following books.
If you are not familiar with Teshelle Combs work yet, go buy Core and Sole now! You won't regret it. :)
This is a great 2nd read, it does not continue on with Cale and Ava yet takes you back to when Myra and Cameron got together. I loved the way Teshelle Combs stated the book with the green paint, the jerrsey and the sugar addicts. However, when we learn what happened to Cameron at the Academy will be unsettling. A great short read.
