3.5⭐️ Professor (gong) × PhD student (shou). This was an okay read with lots of funny moments, especially in the interactions between the two leads. Their dynamic was interesting, which made several scenes really entertaining. Overall, it’s a light and fun read with only 70 chapters.
I actually liked the main leads a lot, really. But the story didn’t feed me emotionally. Some moments called for real emotional depth, yet the author just laid things out to be “clear” and then jumped ahead, like untying knots just to get the job done, without smoothing the rope afterward. Maybe that’s partly because one of the leads is a genius with low emotional intelligence but he was still lovable, not rigid, just socially clueless in a charming way.
Still, I’m dropping this at 66%, right before the family arc. The story had potential and could have easily made it onto my “best of 2025” list, but… it is what it is. Pick it up—you might find something interesting in it.
3.5 ⭐️ It’s a good story, some things could have been explained further while others a bit less but I really liked the main couple-though I didn’t get why the author decided not to develop more their relationship after they finally got together.
No major conflicts, which I find perfect! Honestly, the familial relationships are really interesting, especially about Xu Qi and his mom, Bian Cheng and his dad, and, well, the romantic relationships, too. The main couple Bian Cheng and Wen Di complement each other well.
The struggles are so real. I'm glad they all found support.
