Taking WWII history to the gulf, author Matthew Gore incites fear. Imagining cutting edge German U-boat technology, he brings to life the failed attack on U.S. soil as a sleeping giant lies in wait to complete its mission, decades later.
The Water Horse Expeditions team are back in action as they are contracted by the United States government to find a top-secret U-boat lurking off the coast of Louisiana. Having become comfortable and at home on Stock Island, Captain Michael Gannon eats one final hogfish fingers basket before heading off on their next adventure. Non-disclosure agreements signed and encrypted video feed live, Gannon and his team are brought up to speed by Commander Worley as they search for the fictional X-601 parked along the bottom of the gulf.
Gore’s writing is always peppered with bits of truth as he educates and entertains in his waterway stories. Bringing action, intrigue, and mystery to the page, there is always aspects of truth lurking just under the surface when it comes to Gore’s novels. While the X-601 may be fictional, the XXI German U-boats were technologically advanced and, had Germany not surrendered, the course of the war could have been dramatically different as they had one hundred of these set to enter the playing field. Gore fictionalizes the damage these machines could have reaped on U.S. soil but maintains aspects true to form such as the varying WWII artifacts buried beneath the gulf.
In a present day fraught with societal differences, “Sleeping Wolf” showcases the political divide, factions of hate, and the impacts of family as it all collides. Bringing readers another highly anticipated installment in his Waterway Chronicle Adventure series, Gore shares his love of water, and the mysteries it holds, as he brings it all to the surface.

Matthew Gore does it again.
Book 3 pulled me in by the short hairs and kept me glued to my seat until I was done. Enough said. Read it.

The hunt is on for the Sea Horse to find a secret German WW II submarine in the Gulf of Mexico; a graveyard tor WWII boats and planes. I also am enjoying the developing friendship of Michael and Jas.

Another good Waterway read. I've really enjoyed the character development and interactions. This series is a good way to unwind and relax.
