After being rejected by the local coven due to her infamous grandmother's legacy, a young witch seeks solace on the cliffs of Scituate, Massachusetts. Determined to prove herself, she performs a summoning ritual, only to botch the incantation and shatter the protection ring. Instead of a simple spirit, she tears open a portal to the void, summoning none other than Cthulhu himself. Towering at 80 feet, the eldritch god claims her as his own, whisking her into the abyss. But captivity takes an unexpected turn when the witch realizes that beneath the monstrous exterior lies a sassy, almost endearing being. As she plans her escape, she finds herself drawn to the god of madness. When she finally breaks free, she is haunted by the truth, she’s fallen for the creature that was never meant to love. Now, she must decide if she will return to the abyss or let the void consume her heart forever.

Moony Luve is a tattooed, foul-mouthed, emo gamer girl writing filthy dark horror romance from the neon belly of Las Vegas. She’s been married for 15 years to her real-life possessive masked book boyfriend, @OperatorGoober a Marine-built mix of Simmons and Axel who lives by the “touch her and die” motto. She’s got two chaotic mermaid kids, a camera full of alt couples doing unspeakable things in the desert, and an Xbox kill count high enough to make fragile men cry. When she’s not photographing love or writing about obsession, she’s baked on the couch yelling at COD lobbies with her crew Roza, Goober, and Luke. Her body’s a shrine of tattoos to Marvel, her brain’s a Star Wars databank, and her favorite men are fictional, morally black, and usually covered in blood.
Well that was definitely interesting to say the least. I can't say I hated or loved it. The monster was phenomenal, tentacles and all. And oh boy are there tentacles... over and over and over again. The author does give a fair warning in the preface. My discrepancy with the book is that it is not dark romance. 100% this is erotica. Her specialty is in sex magic. There is no and I mean absolute no escaping sex here. Maybe half of the first chapter. Once she hits the beach it is non-stop, never ending. Also, the scenes aren't very versatile. Maybe a change up here or there but not outrageously different. Unique monster, dark and a prose that is easy to read. If you are in the mood for that, strap your seat belt and hold on tight.
My quest continues to find a monster book that has the perfect balance between plot, characters and spice. Will I ever find it? The world may never know.
Crimson Abyss is a fun, cute, little novella. It features Selket, a witch who uses sex magic and Hugh, a Cathulu-esq tentacled Lovecraftian monster. After a ritual goes wrong Hugh is able to escape the void he lives in and drags Selket back with him. To both her annoyance and pleasure
I would give this novella an 8/10. It is a departure from Luve’s usual dark horror romance novels. Even prioritizing smut over plot. I’m normally a reader who needs a little more plot to go with my smut, but there was something about this read that left me wanting more Hugh.
If you like Lovecraftian monsters, with a smattering of smut, and a sarcastic and witty tentacled hunk of a man then give this book a read. Enjoy!!!
This novella was a bit of a different style of read from what I'm used to from Moony Luve. However, this is such a good thing, she did an exceptional job giving us the finest Paranormal Romance meets Monster Smut. There is no lack of tentacle spice and yes, I said tentacles, many tentacles!
Releasing in October, it's a perfect time for a witch to bring sex magic and ritual into practice without the experience or help from any other witches. She messes up the incantation and summons a Sex God known as Cthulhu she has no idea what is in store for her now.
For the love of tentacles, run now and grab this novella for your next read!
Did you ever wish you had a boyfriend with tentacles?
Well, then this one’s for you!
You follow Selket and Hugh through a journey of finding something worth living for. Selket just wanted to belong, but everywhere she turned, she was being shunned for what her grandmother did. Until she accidentally summoned something from beyond.
Hugh made sure Selket felt every bit of belonging. He showed her how someone should be loved. Until she made a devastating decision, that tore them apart.
Then she found something important, that would change things forever!
Hugh will forever be one of my FAVORITE book boyfriends!
When Moony said there was tentacles, and lots of them, she wasn’t kidding and let me just say I ATE IT UP!
Monster smut has slowly started to become a favorite of mine to read and sometimes the execution hits the mark but this one did not! You get witches, an Eldritch sex god, a plot that doesn’t disappoint; a quick read, and loads of tentacles! What more could you ask for!
This was vastly different than what Moony usually writes and I loved it just as much as her other work! Do yourself a favor and grab this book and all her other work too!
First off, the cover art and the page break art are so good! Then the full page colors you chose for the entire book!! Absolutely beautiful!
This story is unlike any of Moony’s other work, and you will not be disappointed! It is cute, it’s so spicy with those tentacles, and I loved Selket and Hugh! I can’t say anything else without spoiling things.. if you’re looking for a paranormal monster romance smut… This. Is. The. One!!!
I already loved monster smut but Moony just made me love it even more! When she says there’s a lot of tentacles…THERE’S A LOT OF TENTACLES! You can really feel the love that Hugh and Selket have for eachother! Yes it’s a quick love but it is oh so beautiful! Definitely recommend if you’re a tentacle lover like me.
If you’re looking for a quick monster read this definitely checks that box, I blasted through this one and next thing I knew it was over. It’s definitely spice filled, but I didn’t get that steamy factor out of it. There were some parts I wished were a little more flushed out, but overall the book checks all the key points.
