Conflict escalates. Plots come to fruition, and a small group of misfits may come to stand between the universe and obliteration. As Carson Flint and his allies attempt to conclude their mission to rescue the abducted daughter of the Commonwealth Prime Minister, the Thortan barbarians muster for an attack on the known universe.
But some believe former enemies might become allies. Nell Brooks attempts to bring together representatives of the Commonwealth and Lumari Collective so they might discuss a future of peace. Little does he know that time is running out, and the gathering storm may descend upon them before they can affect positive change.

Why do all of these books in the series have to end in cliff hangers? Can't the author have enough confidence in his story to write a solid ending...perhaps, dare I say it, a book that could stand on its own? Because this storyline is good and unique. And the characters are likable. But I hate to have to wait for the next book to find out how the story ends. Who knows...I may not be around to find out...
But I only gave it 5 stars to honor the work the author put in to writing it. How booring is it to read just one battle after another!!! Can't this author write something more interesting or is his mind so small that blood and guts \death and destruction is as big as it can get?
I tried this series because of the author. It surprised me. It's actually good. In fact, better than just good. Several of the characters remind me of people I actually know, and it all seems to fit. A good read.
