Worse than a thief, is a liar.
Kayli Winchester can finally let go of her thieving past and for once walk on the right side of the law. She’s had enough of the hustle and is determined to become the good girl.
But her brother, Wil, is still missing. On the hunt for him, she discovers something worse than a missing sibling: Marc, Raven, Axel, Corey and Brandon. These aren’t just scoundrels with hearts of gold. They’re flat out criminals. But they’re criminals who need her.
In a ruse to draw them away from her brother and learn more about this so-called Academy, Kayli joins them on a mission to Florida in search of a missing little girl. Kayli will do anything to make sure her brother is safe. She’ll find their leader. She’ll discover their intentions. She’ll infiltrate their ranks. And if they try to threaten her brother or herself, she’ll burn them all.
But when these five hot Academy teammates all contend for her heart, her resistance starts to crumble.
Maybe she wasn’t meant to be the good girl, anyway.

Commence drooling!

description

Reverse Harem: you know you want one.
Remember, this series is New Adult, so don’t be surprised at some of the scenes. And there is NO COMPARISON to the Ghost Bird series, each series stands on its own and both are equally awesome (Why choose?). But love the cameo from Owen. Hi Mr. B!!!! (*waves frantically and blows kisses)

I loved Kayli’s thoughts throughout this book, such emotional turmoil and guilt. Poor soul needs some love and affection. Her brother has intentionally run away and her father admitted to keeping government assistance money for his drinking habits, essentially forcing her to pickpocket to survive. Now she’s got no home and no family, the only ones to take her in are the Academy guys who are willing help her try to locate her brother.

Then Kayli overhears an Academy conversation making her wonder why they have files on both herself and her brother Wil. This, along with Blake’s suspicions spurs her into joining the guys on a mission. She intends to infiltrate the Academy and discover once and for all if they are evil, or truly reformed bad guys.

As they delve into a missing child/custody bond situation, Kayli is faced with indecision: Does she pretend to show interest in the guys to uncover the truth about The Academy? Does she leave them all and just forget about ferreting out their secrets? Run away with Blake?

Honestly, if by this point you didn’t realize that this was a reverse harem story, then now you know. From the author’s lips hath dripped those words. If you don’t know what reverse harem is, go google it. And as for all of these guys being freakin’ hot? Of course they’re hot, no one would have a harem of ugly losers! But being hot is in the eye of the beholder, so what you think is good looking/attractive may not be my cup of coffee. I mean, if Sang from the Ghost Bird team saw this group of Academy guys, she’d be running towards Volto!

With the above being said, this was a fun read with a variety of characters to keep you entertained way up to 4 in the morning. ♥

*There will be some mild spoilers*

It’s difficult for me not to compare this series with the Ghost Bird series since it is in the same “Academy” world.
So warning: I will be mentioning the GB series as well.

I love, love, love the Ghost bird series and although the slow progression between Sang and the boys often times drives me mad, there was something about the beauty in it as well. Sang is naive and innocent to the world so the relationship that progresses with them seems natural, from a friends and family feel to the budding feelings of romance. Even though it’s outside of society’s norm to have polyamorous relationship, somehow it is written in a way where you feel it could be a very natural progression with this particular group.

However, with the Scarab Beetle series it feels to me unnatural and disjointed, maybe because Kayli is more aware of the world around her and she hasn’t been forced to be a hermit as Sang was, and although she is broken, she still has fostered relationships with others even if they are skewed and unhealthy. Therefore, I find her “roaming lips” and confusing romantic feelings more annoying then anything else. Her turbulent emotions regarding the guys and Blake drive me insane and make me want to yell at her to knock it off. lol I understand she is confused, I also understand she has never had a real loving and healthy relationship with anyone except maybe her brother, but I feel that she is playing with the guys more then anything else, even if that is not her desired intention.

Next, she’s bratty, her emotions at times volatile, I can easily imagine her loyalties being swayed in the future. She seems reckless and in some ways more immature then Sang, isn't Kayli suppose to be in her late teens early 20’s? I’m not saying she will be this way, but this is my first impression and I find this annoying as well.

Although Kayli can be very bright and intuitive with cases they are working on
she is totally clueless when it comes to whether to trust the Academy boys or not. Now, it’s understandable that she would be wary since most people have lied to her in her life, and to be fair she has only known these boys a short time and it’s a very extraordinary situation. Still, she immediately latched on to Blake’s cautionary evidence of the guys which casted conspiracy theories about them and the Academy in her head which made her fraught with even more doubts. Which makes me laugh considering Blake tried to poison a whole town in the last book, which if I were Kayli, I would be more leery of trusting Blake then the Academy boys.

There is more action in this book which I find to be both positive and negative, positive because they are not just sitting around painting toenails or worrying whether or not Kayli ate or took her vitamins. Negative because you don’t get the relationship building as you do with the Ghost Bird series. This is totally just my own personal opinion and preference though.

What I did enjoy where the Academy guys, they are wonderful through and through, similar to the guys in the GB series but also uniquely their own as well. Personally, my favorite is Corey. :-D He’s a sweetheart and reminds me a lot of Victor. Still not sure what is up with Kevin, but I’m sure later on in the series we will get to know him. I’m also not sure about Blake, and how he will play into all of this as well, but I’m sure we will find out. Still no closer to what Will is up too, but I’m guessing he has his fingers in the Academy pot somewhere. Although, I rated this low I still enjoyed the writing and I probably will give the next book one more try, so far the last book and this book are just not what I had hoped for.

Ridiculous! Ridiculous! Completely Ridiculous!!

And with great honor I let my freak flag fly! Because I am a goner for C.L. Stone's Academy series. I still find myself amazed at how she has me coming back for more. Had this been any other book it would have ended in my DNF pile because no way in hell would I have read past the first few pages.

I have a theory. I'm pretty sure I'm in this for the polygamy cause I sure as hell don't care about the academy crap. It's that taboo that has me wrapped around it's little finger. The fact that I never have to choose and at the end of the day can have it all. That I can jump from one to the other and not be judged. That there are no teams. Where inhibitions run wild and nothing is ever forbidden.

No, just no.. This ain't working for me. The characters all seem weak. The family doesn't seem close and Axel doesn't act like a leader/boss. Perhaps I'm compairing him too much with Mr. Blackbourne who is a perfect person... Mr. Blackbourne and his family seems more mature, adult and better at their 'job' than Axel's family... the connection between Axel and his family just doesn't work. + Kayli annoyes the shit out of me! She's pothetic and stupid.

Kayli's brother, Wil, is missing so she turns to the Academy team for help in finding him. She is quickly sidetracked though when Coaltar resurfaces and offers some information regarding the Academy. In order to find out more about the Academy, Kayli agrees to go on a mission to Florida with Corey and Raven in the hopes of wiggling some information out of them. What sounded like a simple job helping an old lady find some stolen money, turns into a kidnapping case. Kayli must put aside her doubts regarding the intentions of the Academy and all the men in her life to focus on finding a little girl.

Great second book in the series. Kayli is finding out some answers and getting close to all the guys. I like her character - she is smart but sometimes reckless. She seems to have a flair for doing the right thing, but going about it the wrong way. I also love the guys. We get to know Corey, Coaltar, and Axel a little better in this book and they are all yummy!

Why would you trust someone that was going to poison a city two days ago? Seriously? Over guys that have had your back? Idiot.
I still like the series, but she's got some growing to do. I'm willing to give her some time since I have faith in Stone. Please don't let me down.

Oh Raven...you are a bad bad man.

I loved this book. I love this series. I'm a complete and total fangirl and I am not afraid to admit it.

This side of the Academy is extremely compelling to me. In The Ghost Bird, all of the boys are super clean. The one with the greatest chance of anything passionate sort of blew it for me in the last book. That is not a problem in these.

These are all super strong alpha males and Kayli can handle it. She doesn't let these guys push her around and tell her what to do. She is an active participant and contributes to the group. All of the guys respect her and value her input, except maybe Kevin.

But can we talk about theories? I have a few.

So yeah, can't wait for the next one. December 15th. Mark it on your calendars. Let her go boys.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I really liked this book. It was fast paced and constantly kept my attention. There was a lot more character development which I always enjoy. We got to see more of the boys’ backgrounds which made me understand and love them more.
I found myself getting drawn deeper into each of the boys and I couldn’t pick. I called Kayli out in my last review for not stopping the boys when multiple boys where trying to kiss her (not that I was complaining). But if I’m being honest, I couldn’t choose either; they are all great guys.
Axel is the rock. He holds steady and Kayli knows he will always be there when she needs him. Marc has so much passion and he would do anything for Kayli. He’s only known her for a few days yet her cares about her so much. Raven is silly most of the time but when it comes down to it, he is a giant grizzly bear when it comes to Kayli. He would seriously hurt anyone that tried to harm her. Brandon with the sad eyes. Kayli knows something/someone hurt him very much in the past causing him to be the way he is. He has so many walls, but once he lets them down, she’ll find that he has the biggest heart of them all. Corey, the giant teddy bear who wouldn’t harm a fly unless someone he cared about was in danger. In that case, he would hurt anyone that dared try.
In the last book, when Brandon said Corey was gay, I honestly didn’t believe it. I thought that he showed too much interest in Kayli to possibly be gay. I thought he was bisexual or Brandon was just trying to protect his baby brother. I was right. Corey is bisexual which I thought provided some realistic factors to the story and I thought it was brilliant on C.L. Stone’s part. Not only is he bisexual, he has a crush on someone on his team. Axel mentioned it so it can’t be him, Kevin is in a relationship so he’s out, Brandon is out for obvious reasons. That only leaves Marc and Raven. My money is on Raven at this time. Corey didn’t think it was a good idea for him to go wake up Raven and sent Kayli to do it at the beginning of the book. At the time, I thought it was because Raven was dangerous if he was woken up, but looking back on it, maybe it was because Corey knew Raven slept naked and Corey wouldn’t have been able to control his… reaction… to it. That would have tipped Kayli off quick. Little did he know that she already thought he was gay.
Axel mentions to Corey that he didn’t know if the member on the team that Corey has a crush on would be interested in Corey, leading me to believe that it is possible he does. If said member is Raven, I don’t know if he is bisexual at this point. In the first book, he did make comments about male parts that I didn’t think a straight man would say but I kind of brushed it off. Because of Corey’s crush, it is causing me to psycho-analyze everything the boys say and it is driving me crazy because I am dying to know.
Kayli, on the other hand, made me angry a few times. Call me biased, but I knew that the Academy boys weren’t bad people and her listening to Blake after all he did in the first book made me angry. I didn’t understand how she could go from hating him to trusting him enough to team up with him. He brings up a few circumstantial problems with the Academy boys and she immediately jumps ship and doesn’t trust them? They have never given her a reason to not trust them when Blake has given her plenty, yet she still listens. Is she for real? I am very concerned with her budding relationship with Blake. I’ll admit it, he could be perfect, but he isn’t an Academy boy so he is a problem. Unless he joins their team, which I honestly don’t see happening anywhere in the near future, he will only be a distraction to Kayli and put doubt in her head about the boys. If he joins the group and proves himself trustworthy, then he gets my okay to join in the reverse-harem situation Kayli is in right now. Unfortunately, no matter what I want, I have a feeling that he will become a permanent love interest for Kayli. The fact that Kayli can’t seem to pull away when he kisses her sends a big red flag to me that he is here to stay. Blake’s whole personality is brilliant on C.L. Stone’s part as an author but for the reader, he is a problem. If he can’t join the group or prove he’s not a threat to Kayli’s relationships with the boys, I want him gone. Point blank. Period. I might be being a little harsh on him but in this series, if you aren’t Academy, you don’t cut it for me.
While we are on the topic of Blake, I really didn’t appreciate him taking Principal Hendricks side and blame the Academy for Mr. McCoy’s disappearance. The book quoted him perfectly: He is on the outside looking in and automatically assumes the boys are bad. Excuse me? Weren’t you just trying to poison a village of people in the last book? He has no room to talk. Then he accused them of taking Wil? Is he for real? AND KAYLI ACTUALLY LISTENED?! I can’t even begin to express how stupid that was on her part.
Is it wrong that I’m not concerned about the whole Wil plot line? I think it’s the fact that I met him previously in The Ghost Bird Series, but I just can’t bring myself to care that he’s missing. They mentioned towards the end of the book that the girl he was interested in was Sang and I nearly fell off my bed laughing. I’m sorry honey, but she’s got nine boys at home and I think that’s enough. The fact that Kayli said that to Mr. Blackbourne was priceless. Is it just me, or did I detect a little bit of jealousy in Mr. Blackbourne’s response of how Sang couldn’t be interested? I don’t know; it might have just been wishful thinking on my part.
I am very interested to see where the Kevin plot is going to go. He is just background noise when it comes to this group. He isn’t playing any major roles and if you pay attention while reading, you will notice that when the team is telling Kayli where everyone is, they don’t think to mention Kevin. I don’t really know what purpose he serves to the story right now besides being outspoken about Kayli not joining their team. I think at some point he going to end up leaving their group… Maybe Blake will take his place?
I was glad I got to see a few of my babies from Ghost Bird in this book. I miss them and it always warms my heart when they are mentioned or seen in this series. I’m hoping they will be seen more in the future. (Crossing my fingers now.)
I thought C.L. Stone did a great job of balancing the plot plot and the romantic plot. She has an uncanny ability to straddle the line on if the book is plot driven or romantically driven. She is great at it which causes me to never lose interest or get bored. Because of that and thousands of other reasons, I will be reading the next installment and anything else she writes

Current Rankings:
1. Raven
2. Corey
3. Axel
4. Marc
5. Brandon
… 5,000,000. Kevin
…… 1,000,000,000. Blake

CW Transphobia

I've never had a series go downhill so fast before. I'm actually upset at how disgusting I found this book. Sure, there was the issue of Kayli just being so, so very annoying, never making up her mind and flip-flopping between who to trust, a true hypocrite. But the thing that got me the most was the blatant transphobia I witnessed. I really wanted to dnf but because I actually spent money on this and wanted to leave my thoughts at the end, I persevered. We meet this character, Future, and she's a trans girl, that's all well and good, her character was pretty funny at times. The issue comes with the other characters, who, while referring to her with she/her pronouns, would refer to her as a guy, or a cross-dresser and just poked fun at the fact. Like "haha Brandon thinks he's talking to a girl but she's actually a man haha" no she isn't. What's funny about that? And then we had the "bad" characters also being transphobic and homophobic and that's bad, but it's okay when the main characters do it?

I hated this entire experience and I regret giving this author a penny from my pocket. I shan't pursue this series because of this and also, it was just bad writing. The first book had so much potential but it all just went down the drain.

I have been waiting as patiently as possible for the release of Liar, the second book in C.L Stones series, The Scarab Beetle. I was extremely excited and grateful to be on the receiving end of an early copy, I almost cried and as expected, C.L. Stone did anything but disappoint.
In this thrilling second book, Kayli, the main character, begins to question everything about her situation. She has a seed planted into her mind that maybe the Academy is not as ‘good’ as it is made out to be. Her internal battle rages on throughout the book, influencing all of her decisions. She shows her analytical side as well as her dare devil one when planning out a rescue mission and the covert mission she assigned to herself, to keep her younger brother away from the academy.
As if this isn’t enough to keep Kayli mentally and physically busy, she is also battling the emotions she feels for one, two, three, four, five extremely attractive Academy men. She knows that having feeling and acting on those feelings with all of them is wrong, but she never stops doing it. Not even the threat of the Academy being a criminal organization can stop the pull she has for these men.
The actions in Liar was the perfect amount. Extremely entertaining, but there was not an over load that sometimes gets in the way of more important aspects of a novel. Kayli really stepped completely out of her fragile shell in this book and became essentially, part of the team. That transformation was great to read through and I loved that she was included with the boys and treated in a way that was fair. She was looked after, but trusted to complete the missions she was given.
Seriously though, I love all of the men, expect maybe Axel for Kayli because I had the first impression that he was much older than her and I cannot get that out of my mind when he is being intimate with her. Anyway, I feel so bad for Kayli, how is she to choose? I do have my favorite, Raven, but I could see the plot twisting in the future towards any one of the men.
There is nothing to complain about with Lair. It is a fast paced book complete with action, romance and attractive spies. It has just come out and I am antsy to keep reading this intriguing, unique story that C.L Stone has crafted.

It grew on me...but I have to admit I had some issues with this book. One major being Kaylie herself. As much as I loved her in Thief, she annoyed me to bits in Liar. Acting so distrustful for the boys who only wanted to help and trusting Blake of all people over them. I couldn't beleive it. (Even if I ADORE Blake myself). And then all the different romantic connections, it goes too fast. It's only been like a week and she's made out with all of them one way or another...I don't mind the kissing but...Well that were my main issues. However as usual the story captivates me, draws me in and I just don't want to put the book down. The guys are amazing, all of them, even if Raven creeped me out a little with that little stunt. Well, I'm over it now LOL I like that we get more of the outsider's view in this series compared to the Ghost bird one. That the characters are older and very different from Mr Blackbourne's team. I look forward to Fake and I would really want some more Marc. And yes Corey is such a sweetheart LOVE LOVE LOVE. :)

Hhhhh...
It's hard not to compare this series with The Ghost Bird. The Academy, the ex bad boys and the boys...I mean THE BOYS!! too many, too hot, too hard to choose one (then again why should choose one if can have them all...hahahahaha)
Sang and 9 boys vs Kayli and 5 boys (just because Kevin has a girlfriend)
Ok, after I read this book, the one thing I noticed: ooh there's one chapter from Corey's POV...while I'm grateful but why only one? why only Corey? and the big question is which boy from the team member that Corey likes (Raven or Marc?)...damn if that's not complicated

And Kayli...Kayli oh Kayli can you be more confused and fickle? not only with the boys and Blake, if he counts but with your decision, your questions, your heart, your action...GOD, just ask them whatever you want to ask. So what if they gave you vague answers just keep asking...in the end she's (more or less) like Sang, you know ...always making assumption, thinking too hard and too much...

You can find my other reviews at: The Titan's Tomb

I had hopes for the second book in the 'Scarab Beetle' series, but 'Liar' really let me down. I really did not appreciate the constant winging and self depreciating attitude of Kayli, it was incessant and unnecessary and really annoying. Oh no, I can't differentiate my feelings between six boys, even though one is gay, and they are all such nice people even though they are all criminals who go around saving kidnapped little girls. But Marc is so beautiful! Cory is sooo nice! Raven has hawt tattoos! Brandon is a damaged soul I must be the one to save! Axel makes me feel so comforted and safe! And Blake is rich and sexy!!
But apart from all of that nonsense, there was still hardly any action or very interesting scenes, not even many plot twists. A boring and trashy novel overall, but if you're into that then this would be the perfect book!

It was an improvement over the 1st book in my opinion. However, I still don't love it as much as the ghost bird books. I just don't like the characters as much-They just aren't as engaging as the boys in the other book. And as much as I want to like Kayli because she is tough and strong, I still think I like Sang better. However, the 1st chapter of the next book was amazing and now I can't wait!

Update: Still just not as good as GB. This was better than book 1, I still think.

Kayli is still an idiot.
I love the guys.

I like that The Scarab Beetle is darker, dirtier and more mature than Sang's story. The guys are not nice ones, they're sketchy and dangerous.
And Kayli might still be an idiot but she's growing on on me.

Oh boy. After the mess that was Thief, I didn't really want to read any of the other Scarab Beetle series, figuring I'd stick to Ghost Bird. And then crossovers kept happening and I realized I could get more information about the Academy if I read both series and needed a break after reading about too much of Sang's idiocy in four books. So back in I went.

All in all, I think I enjoy Scarab Beetle more than Ghost Bird. The guys are hotter, there aren't as many of them so they have a better focus, and I don't feel so squicked out by them because they're all adults. There is actually a focus on the plot instead of pages and pages of our heroine lamenting over her insecurities, followed by clothes shopping and fingernail painting. There is more action. The only thing that would make this better would be if Kayli wasn't our narrator or in it at all. I'd read a series about Corey, Brandon, Axel, Marc, Raven, and Kevin doing Academy stuff without her stupid ass.

Kayli is a fuck up. She's a stuck up, know-it-all bitch who can't keep her lips and hands to herself. I hate reading things through her eyes. Unlike Sang, Kayli is a little more worldly, so her inner turmoil about her feelings feels ridiculous. If she can't sort herself out, maybe she should stop throwing herself at every hot guy with a pulse who stands in front of her. She kisses Brandon, Marc, Raven, and Blake, plus gets hot and heavy with Axel, almost leading to sex. It's almost like these guys never talk to each other, so she can get away with rubbing herself all over whichever one happens to be in the room with her. Yes, she figures out the deeper meaning behind the Florida job, but she dives into it so hard and demands that everyone follow. It ends up costing their team favours because she doesn't know how to simmer the hell down. What's worse is that it's played off as her being amazing and smart (sort of like Sang and her guys, where she acts like a reckless twit and is praised for her intellect and bravery), and the guys don't want to cut her loose from their team because she's too ingrained after four freaking days. Bitch, please. Sang is tolerable. Kayli is insufferable. The only props that I'll give her is that she refers to Future, the transgender bounty hunter, as a women instead of a man.

The guys. Oh, how I love most of them, but if they're really family, they need to start communicating. Where's this exchange:
Marc: So, I like Kayli.
Brandon: What? Me too. She's so hot and smart and fits in.
Raven: Me too.
Axel: Yeah, I like her too.
Corey: Whoa, guys, I like her too, but come on. She can't like all of us.
Everyone: She kissed me.
Corey: Well, shit.
Axel: So she's playing with all of us and thinking we won't talk about it. Interesting. We should all back off until she chooses someone and act like adults about it.

Oh right, that never happens! Kayli is everyone's dirty little secret that they won't talk about. She jumps from one bed to the other and they never even mention in passing that they're attracted to her? What in the hell is this malarkey? At least the Ghost Bird team is actively leading towards a harem situation. Kayli is just acting like a slut with the Scarab Beetle guys and they're letting her do it. Come on, fellas, where is your self respect? And they're going to act crazy jealous, you can tell. Corey already about threw a fit at the end when he found out that Axel loves Kayli and found her in bed with Brandon. This won't be a harem situation like Sang and her guys, it'll be Kayli cycling through them and watching them fight.

Their love for Kayli aside, I like all the guys except Raven and Blake, and unlike the Ghost Bird guys, I'd probably date them. My favourite is Corey, then Marc, Axel, and Brandon. At least Stone puts it out there that Corey is bi, unlike a certain flamboyant guy from Ghost Bird. Too bad it's probably only so that he can crush on Kayli along with the rest of his team. Blake, why is he even a thing? And why does Kayli trust him based on half-assed, flimsy evidence? Raven, well, much like Silas from Ghost Bird, I can't tell if Stone knows about Russian and Greek culture, or if she did a Wikipedia search. I'm not educated in either, so I don't know. Either way, he's the asshole of the group, and I don't like Ghost Bird's North, and Raven is just an angrier, tattooed mobster version of him.

I like that we actually get some more information about the Academy in this series. Not entirely straight answers, but way more than we get in Ghost Bird. It's... creepy? Weird? Awful? Anyway, it's something that the guys are pressured at fourteen to get vasectomies. Stone does know that you only have a limited time to reverse them, and it's not 100% recovery, right? I will laugh about the guys wanting the get Kayli through a closed adoption. According to Stone's website, that means no other team can approach her without the team leader's (in this case, Axel) permission. The Ghost Bird guys have the same thing with Sang. Can't having any nasty, evil girls getting Kayli/Sang in their clutches and steal them away from their harem.

Wil is still missing. Kayli laments about it at the beginning of the book, and barely gives him a thought until they end. Apparently Hendricks let Wil test out early and the teachers mark him as present anyway. I don't think Wil is really working with Hendricks, but I think 1) he's in love with Sang (poor guy) and 2) he's VOLTO! #TeamVolto

Much like Ghost Bird, I'm going to keep reading these, even if they're below average, mind numbing books.

Even though Kylie is completely inept & relied on the men in her life to think for her, Amazingly I enjoyed book 2 over book 1 in this series. 3 stars

Thief is ready for purchase below and Liar will be out 08/11,

Book #3 will be out in December!!

Add to TBR: bit.ly/1usPrmV
Author FB: on.fb.me/V69Sth
Amazon Author: amzn.to/V2g85C

"I was a thief with a rogue group of criminals that I didn't know at all."

I am so torn between the younger 9 Academy guys versus the 5 older Academy guys plus Blake Coalter. I will take all 15 please! I just finished my ARC of Liar from her Scarab Beetle Series and so swooning over these guys!

Liar is all about Kayli trying to figure out if the Academy is all about lies and betrayals more than helping her truly find out information about her brother Wil.

"I felt that now. It was the feeling you have when you are about to pull a daredevil stunt. Excited, anxious, a little thrill of nerves all binding up into the pit of your stomach right before you take the leap."

"I shouldn't have agreed to this party at all. I pressed my face into the leather seat, dying on the inside."

We will get to know more of the guys names/last names and find out more how the guys got involved with the Academy. There will be lots of stolen kisses from all the guys one way or another. Did I mention about lots of hot scenes?

"It as probably the biggest risk, because it was the most honest I was feeling in that moment. All the fears about them welled inside me, and I was on the edge, where I could swim or drown, and I was scared to death of both."

"I think I fell in love at that moment. He was so sympathetic, strong, smart, handsome."

I always go for nerdy/geeky type personalities so Axel and Corey are very close to first pic for me. I think I swooned over Blake just as much as the other guys in this book. He is sure stepping up. I think it would be awesome if he joined the group as well. There was a lot more suspense and edge of your seat moments in this one versus Thief and my favorite so far. Make sure to pay attention because you will get more info on what Wil is doing and a camo appearance of Mr. Blackburne to help lead us into something that may be in the next Academy book.

This was another enjoyable story by C. L. Stone. It follows, Kayli, who has recently been caught up with the Academy from the first book.
This adventure follows her and the boys, as they work to find a little girl and her father. Along the way, we see Kayli's relationship grow with all the boys, particularly with Corey and Axel, and how Kayli's life is adjusting around the boys. One big question that comes up throughout is: What in fact does the Academy do? Leading to Kayli distrusting the boys, which is not helped by the return of Blake Coalter.
We do get some truths and big reveals, however the whole background of the boys is shrouded in mystery.
The author manages to get us to fall for each and everyone of the boys, not just one. They all have aspects about them that you just adore.
I really want to hear more about Raven though, I'm just really drawn to his character (especially after his advice about girls and food xD).
You can't help to being enthralled into their world and it really holds a readers attention. I just can't wait to read the next book, I read the snippet and am craving more, I'm predicting the next book will be full of action and excitement, plus a bit more romance. :)

We where following (stalking) C.L. Stone for her amazing YA series, The Ghost Bird. Always asking… What if… this would not have been a YA. Guess what. The same script, only now they are some what adults there is some more kissing and fun scenes… Make room for the New Adult Series :) THE SCARAB BEETLE!
